President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan recently made an important observation that deserves global attention. It has evolved into a global phenomenon that increasingly targets Muslim identity, Islamic cultural heritage, religious symbols, and historical monuments. Attacks on mosques, desecration of sacred texts, insults directed at Islamic values, and the destruction of Muslim heritage sites are becoming disturbingly common in different parts of the world.
This troubling trend suggests that Islamophobia is no longer merely an ideological bias. It is becoming a social and political challenge with serious implications for global stability.
It was in this context that President Ilham Aliyev, addressing the 20th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), described crimes against Islamic cultural heritage as a clear manifestation of Islamophobia. His remarks reflected not only Azerbaijan's own experience but also the concerns shared by many Muslims across the world.
Destroying Heritage Means Destroying Memory

For several years, Azerbaijan has sought to draw international attention to the growing threat of Islamophobia.
