This young man in a mosque in New Delhi, seems to be living in the 19th century India. He is telling the Muslims of the neighbourhood about the time and asking them to get up and have Sehri.

In the olden days, clocks were found in the houses of the rich and so during that period, announcements about the time of sehri were made from the mosques. Today when clocks are common place and every member of the family has a mobile which tells the time of Sehri and Iftar, these ignoramuses continue to make these announcements and add to the problems of the Muslims.

At a time when non-Muslims and the governments raise objections on the use of loudspeakers and the courts have issued orders to regulate loudspeakers in places of worship, these people use the loudspeakers unnecessarily.

Apart from making announcements, they also recite manqabat and naat (religious poems) which are not part of sehri and cause inconvenience not only to the non-Muslims but also to the Muslims who are sick or who want to offer prayers or recite the Quran at home in a peaceful atmosphere.

Muslim intelligentsia should raise a voice against such unnecessary practices involving loudspeakers in mosques. The mosque committees should stop such practices that have added to the problems of the Muslims.
