Facing Hate FIRs For 'Dharm Sansad' Hate Speeches,
Religious Leader Narsinghanand Held In Haridwar
Yati Narsinghanand (File)

By Avaneesh Mishra
January 16, 2022
TWO days after the arrest of Waseem Rizvi alias
Jitendra Narayan Tyagi in connection with the three-day conclave held last
month in Haridwar where several hate speeches were made targeting Muslims and
calling for violence against them, the Uttarakhand police arrested its key
organiser, Yati Narsinghanand, Saturday night.
Narsinghanand, the controversial priest of Dasna
temple in Ghaziabad, was on a hunger strike at Sarvanand Ghat in Haridwar
protesting against the arrest of Tyagi.
Calling it “injustice,” he had raised questions about
the police action against Tyagi. “He was arrested because he was once a Muslim
who converted to Hinduism. This is so that no other Muslim converts to
Hinduism,” Narsinghanand had claimed.
Sources said earlier in the day, Narsinghanand had an
“altercation” with a journalist who was allegedly manhandled. A senior police
official said that based on the journalist’s complaint, another FIR was
registered against Narsinghanand.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Superintendent of
Police, Haridwar (City), Swatantra Kumar, said: “Yati Narsinghanand has been
arrested by the Haridwar police and was brought to the Kotwali police station
from where he is being sent to a hospital.”
A crowd of supporters had gathered outside the police
station late Saturday night and officials said “minor force” had to be used to
disperse them.
The conclave took place December 17-19 but the arrest
of Tyagi and Narsinghanand has come after the Supreme Court issued notices to
the Centre, Delhi Police and the Uttarakhand government last Monday.
The notice was over a PIL alleging police inaction and
seeking probe into the hate speeches at two separate events in Haridwar,
organised by Narsinghanand, and another in Delhi by Hindu Yuva Vahini where
speakers allegedly called for the “genocide of members” of a community.
Two FIRs have been registered. The first on December
23 on the complaint of one Gulbahar Khan at the Haridwar Kotwali police station
under IPC Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups and acts
prejudicial to harmony) and 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to
outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious
beliefs).
Five were named in this FIR: Tyagi, Dharamdas Maharaj,
Annapurna Maa, Narsinghanand and Sagar Sindhuraj Maharaj.
Another FIR was registered on January 2 on the
complaint of social worker Nadeem Ali for allegedly making hate speeches at the
Haridwar event and continuing to do so in the days that followed. This FIR,
under Sections 153A and 298 (uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to
wound the religious feelings of any person) named Tyagi and unidentified
others.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been
formed to investigate the case.
Narsinghanand, who faces several FIRs in UP, has
called for a “war against Muslims” and urged “Hindus to take up weapons.”
Earlier this month, accusing the Uttarakhand state government of working under
pressure of “jihadis”, the organisers of the conclave called for a protest
meeting on January 16 against the FIRs.

Israel National News
16.01.22
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the
largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the US, on Saturday
condemned the hostage-taking incident at the Congregation Beth Israel in
Colleyville, Texas.
In a statement, the organization said it is in contact
with local community leaders to learn more about the attack and provide any
assistance possible.
"We strongly condemn the hostage-taking at
Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas. This latest antisemitic attack
at a house of worship is an unacceptable act of evil,” said CAIR National
Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell.
“We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community, and
we pray that law enforcement authorities are able to swiftly and safely free
the hostages. No cause can justify or excuse this crime. We are in contact with
local community leaders to learn more and provide any assistance that we
can," he added.
Earlier on Saturday, the Jewish Agency for Israel
responded to the incident and said, "The Jewish Agency is closely
monitoring the evolving situation in TX, USA, and praying for the safety of all
those involved."
Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai tweeted,
"Monitoring closely from Israel the hostage situation unfolding at Beth
Israel Congregation where the Jewish community gathered for Shabbat services in
Colleyville, Texas. Praying for an immediate and safe end."
Shai also said that he is "worriedly
following" the event, which was "another expected display" of
"the anti-Semitism which is growing in the US." He added that he and
his staff "are in contact with the Jewish community in Texas and following
the situation in the synagogue. I pray that the incident ends quickly and
without injuries among the hostages or the US security forces."
US Ambassador to Israel Thomas Nides tweeted, "I
am closely monitoring reports of the hostage situation at Congregation Beth
Israel in Texas, where the community is gathered for Shabbat services. Praying
for an immediate and safe end."
US Senator Ted Cruz tweeted, "Heidi and I are
praying for those at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville and for the SWAT
team and all other law enforcement on the scene responding. My staff and I are
closely monitoring the situation and are in close contact with local and
national authorities."
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, "POTUS
has been briefed about the developing hostage situation in the Dallas area. He
will continue to receive updates from his senior team as the situation
develops. Senior members of the national security team are also in touch with
federal law enforcement leadership."
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who is
Jewish, tweeted, "I’m monitoring the situation at Congregation Beth Israel
in Colleyville, Texas. I’m praying for a peaceful resolution, for those being
held, for the first responders, for Congregation Beth Israel, and for the
Jewish community in Colleyville."

Brussels-Based Imam Who Prayed For Burning Of
Zionists in 2009, Kicked Out Of Belgium
Mohamed Toujgani.

A Brussels-based imam who in 2009 prayed to Allah to
burn Zionists has left Belgium on the order of authorities who flagged him as a
security threat.
Imam Mohamed Toujgani, who was born in Morocco and had
lived for decades in Brussels, was expelled in October, the VRT broadcaster
reported Thursday, according to The Times of Israel.
It was not immediately clear whether the expulsion was
directly over his remarks about Zionists, which happened in 2009 and surfaced
in 2019.
Belgium’s Secretary of State, Sammy Mahdi, said during
a parliament session this week that Toujgani had called to “burn Jews.”
Georges-Henri Beauthier, a lawyer representing Toujgani, called that statement
“a falsehood that incites hatred,” the RTBF broadcaster reported.
In a YouTube video that the Belgian League Against
Anti-Semitism, or LBCA, flagged in 2019, Toujgani is seen saying the following
during a sermon at his mosque in Brussels: “Lord, master of worlds, fill with
fear the hearts of the Zionist oppressors. Lord, fill their hearts with fear.
Lord, make the earth tremble beneath their feet. Lord, make the blood of the
martyrs a weapon under the feet of the Zionists oppressors, and may this blood
ignite a fire that burns them and start a wind that eviscerates them. […] O
Lord, tear them down.”
Toujgani was nominated to become president of the
conference of Belgian imams in 2019. He has spoken in favor of tolerance and
against jihadism in recent years.
He has apologized for the Zionists comments following
the resurfacing of the video, saying he was infuriated by Israeli strikes
against Hamas in Gaza, which Israel had carried out in retaliation for Hamas’
firing of rockets on civilians and digging of tunnels designed to launch
strikes inside Israel.
He said that was the “geopolitical context for
comments that I regret making.”
Toujgani’s lawyer said he will appeal the expulsion.

Detained Taliban Commander Is Accused Of Kidnapping: Islamic
Emirate Of Afghanistan Spokesman
Detained commander of the
Taliban Makhdoom Alam is accused of abduction
-----
By Najibullah Lalzoy
16 Jan 2022
A spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
Inamullah Samangani said that the detained commander of the Taliban Makhdoom
Alam is accused of abduction, thus he has been arrested, and his case is being
investigated.
Inamullah Samangani said that Alam was arrested by the
intelligence of the IEA and has been transferred to the Afghan capital Kabul.
Makhdoom Alam was arrested in the northern Balkh
province on Thursday, January 13 that triggered a furious demonstration in
another northern Faryab province, his birthplace.
The protestors accused the IEA of ethnic
discrimination against Uzbek people but Inamullah Samangani denied the
accusation and added that people should not attribute the arrest to any
specific ethnicity.
“The Taliban has the right to arrest and interrogate
people who are accused of a misdemeanor. Makhdoom was asked by the local
intelligence office in Balkh province and he himself went there.” Said the
spokesman.
Makhdoom Alam who is a prominent commander of the
Taliban in the north of Afghanistan has occupied the posts of shadow provincial
governor of Faryab province and head of the military commission of the province
by the Taliban during the previous Afghan government.

Libya Secretly Looking For Normalization With Israeli Occupation
Entity
It seems that Libya is
cooking something related to normalization with the ‘Israeli’ occupation
entity.
-----
January 16, 2022
It seems that Libya is cooking something related to
normalization with the ‘Israeli’ occupation entity.
Most recently, correspondent of ‘Israeli’ media
outlets endorsed a new narrative which detailed that the executive plane
[P4-RMA] used by Libyan General Khalifa Hefter landed in the ‘Israeli’-occupied
territories on Thursday after a "diplomatic stop" in Cyprus.
“After two hours on the ground the plane took off back
to Cyprus,” Military Correspondent of ‘Israeli’ Channel 11 Itay Blumental,
wrote in a tweet that was also retweeted by the Arab Affairs Correspondent of
‘Israeli’ Kan broadcaster, Roi Kais.
Earlier, Saudi and Libyan media outlets reports
released on Wednesday night suggested that Jordan hosted ‘Israeli’ Mossad spy
agency Director David Barnea and Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Mohammed
Al-Dabaiba, as they discussed normalization and security cooperation.
Back in November, ‘Israeli’ Haaretz newspaper reported
that Saddam Haftar, son of Libyan warlord Gen. Khalifa Haftar, flew to Ben
Gurion Airport for meetings with ‘Israeli’ officials regarding potential normalization
with the occupation regime.
On the other hand, former ‘Israeli’ ‘Security Council’
Chief Meir Ben Shabbat and his messenger, known only as "Maoz," also
reportedly had such contacts, and their handling of the file has been passed on
to former Shin Bet official Nimrod Gez.
Gez had strong ties to Ben Shabbat and had supported
him as a potential future Shin Bet chief before former Zionist Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu lost power and that scenario disappeared.
It is unclear whether any of the above Libyan
officials could substantively carry out normalization with the Tel Aviv
occupation regime given the ongoing chaos the African country has been in for
years.
Last month, the country's long-awaited elections were
postponed and it is unclear if the various on-again and off-again warring
groups will be capable of carrying out the elections, let alone altering
decades of officially hostile relations with the occupying regime.

Pakistan
Opposition alliance holds power show against PPP’s
local govt law in Karachi
Imran Ayub
January 16, 2022
KARACHI: A huge crowd turned up at the Karachi Press
Club to participate in a protest on Saturday over the recently enacted
controversial local government law on the call of three major opposition
political parties, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi
Movement-Pakistan and Grand Democratic Alliance.
Launching a ‘massive’ movement against the ruling
Pakistan Peoples Party, the parties announced that they would march from Ghotki
to Karachi on Feb 27 — the same day when the PPP would start its so-called
‘long march’ on Islamabad against the PTI-led federal government.
The PTI and other opposition parties in Sindh, which
are allies of its government in the Centre, in their first major power show
under the province-wide campaign against the Sindh Local Government (Amendment)
Act 2021 made it clear that Saturday’s protest was just a ‘trailer’ of the
upcoming protests and the demonstrations against the ‘black law’ were not going
to end anytime soon and asked the PPP government to review its “feudal and
suppressive mindset” before the people of Sindh “throw them out of CM House”.

Ex-Chief Judge, Journalists To Be Indicted On 20th
January
Malik Asad
January 16, 2022
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has
virtually discarded the opinion of amici curiae about absolving Jang Group’s editor-in-chief
Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman and senior journalists Ansar Abbasi and Aamir Ghauri in
contempt proceedings related to an affidavit of former Gilgit-Baltistan chief
judge Rana Mohammad Shamim and decided to indict them as well as Mr Shamim on
Jan 20.
The IHC issued an order about court proceedings of Jan
7 in which Chief Justice Athar Minallah held that “three amici curiae Mr Nasir
Zaidi, secretary general of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Mr Faisal
Siddiqui, an Advocate of Supreme Court, and Reema Omar have also extended their
assistance…Their focus was mainly on freedom of expression and a free press…
The amici curiae obviously have not suggested that the stance taken by the
alleged contemnors should be accepted so that in future litigants and third
parties are facilitated to abuse a widely circulated newspaper so as to
interfere with pending proceedings with impunity. The amici curiae have also
not suggested that the subjudice rule has become redundant”.

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi gave his ceremonial

Fund (IMF).
The finance bill was among those 16 pieces of
legislation that the PTI-led coalition government bulldozed through the
National Assembly on Thursday amid an opposition uproar in the presence of
Prime Minister Imran Khan.
