Nobel laureate and women’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai has reacted strongly to recent statements made by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan about women’s education in Afghanistan. He mentioned about the “Pashtun culture” saying the ethnic group keeps women away from education as part of its culture.

“I nearly lost my life fighting against Taliban’s ban on girls’ education. Thousands of Pashtoon activists and notables lost their lives when they raised their voices against Taliban’s horrors and millions became refugees. We represent Pashtoons - not the Taliban,” Yousafzai said on Twitter

Speaking at the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) summit in Islamabad on Sunday, Imran Khan said that the Taliban – which now rules Afghanistan - was a predominant Pashtun movement. He also said that terror group Islamic State attacks Pakistan from Afghanistan.

Khan's remarks sparked a response from former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Afghans on social media.

Karzai called Pakistan Prime Minister's remarks "an attempt to sow discord among Afghans, and an insult to the Afghan people." He also asked Imran Khan to stop interfering in Afghanistan's internal affairs.

Afghanistan's former ambassadress to Norway Shukria Barakzai also said that the comments show his lack of knowledge of Afghanistan's history.

A large number of social media activists posted photos and video clips of ancient Afghanistan where women would go to universities and schools and they were part of the cabinets in different governments.

Some said that Kabul University has been founded in 1932 before the birth of Pakistan in 1947.

Leader of Pashtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Manzoor Pashteen in a Twitter post also condemned and said that Imran Khan's comments are false and negative.

Pashteen said that Pashtoons never denied education to girls nor denied their rights. "Stop this colonialism," he wrote, reported Khaama Press.

Another Woman Executed In Dastgerd Prison Of Isfahan, Central Iran

At least seven women have been hanged in Iran in less than a month

December 20, 2021

At least seven women have been hanged in Iran in less than a month

The Iranian regime’s authorities had another woman executed in Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan at dawn on Sunday, December 19, 2021.

The victim was Fatemeh Aslani. She had been serving time in prison for nine years allegedly for murdering her husband.

Mrs. Aslani had pleaded not guilty before the court.

The 129th woman executed since 2013

The state media in Iran have not yet announced this execution as this report is being published. This is the 129th woman executed by the clerical regime since the summer of 2013.

The Iranian regime has executed at least 7 women in less than a month. Thirty men have also been executed in this time span.

The Iranian prison authorities had another woman executed in the Prison of Amol, in northern Iran, on December 14, 2021. Massoumeh Zare’i, 40, had a 21-year-old daughter. She had murdered her husband in self-defense against domestic violence.

The world’s chief executioner of women

Iran holds the world’s top executioner record, with the highest number of citizens executed per capita. It is also the world’s chief executioner of women. An average of 15 women is executed in Iran every year. The executions are grossly unfair.

The actual number of executions, particularly the number of women executed, is much higher. The clerical regime carries out most executions in secret and out of the public eye. No witnesses are present at the time of execution but those who carry them out.

The Iranian regime open-handedly uses the death penalty as a form of punishment. In a discriminatory manner, this punishment is carried out against religious and ethnic minorities, political dissidents, and women.

Many of the women executed by the mullahs’ regime are themselves victims of domestic violence against women and have acted in self-defense.

According to Amnesty International, more than two-thirds of the world countries have abolished or halted the death penalty. However, in Iran, the killing machine is taking up speed under Ebrahim Raisi, the notorious henchman of the 1988 massacre, and Gholam Hossein Mohseni Eje’i, another notorious judge involved in the genocide.

Afghan women went to universities long before Pakistan was created, say leaders and activists

Dec 21 2021

Afghans, former politicians, Taliban activists, and social media activists took to social media and condemned Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's recent comments over the culture of Afghans, Khaama Press reported. Imran Khan on Sunday at the OIC's session in Islamabad said that not allowing women to get an education has been part of the culture of the Afghan people and the world should respect that.

Former President Hamid Karzai said that the statements of Imran Khan are inflammatory and disrespectful and asked Khan to stop interfering in Afghanistan's internal affairs. Afghanistan's former envoy to Norway Shukria Barakzai also said that comments show his lack of knowledge of Afghanistan's history, the report said. Leader of Pashtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Manzoor Pashteen in a Twitter post also condemned and said that Imran Khan's comments are false and negative.

Pashteen said that Pashtoons never denied education to girls nor denied their rights. "Stop this colonialism," he wrote. In the meantime, a large number of social media activists posted photos and video clips of ancient Afghanistan where women would go to universities and schools and were part of the cabinets in different governments, according to Indo-Asian News Service. Some said that Kabul University was founded in 1932 while Pakistan emerged in 1947. Furthermore, Taliban activists on social media also reacted to Imran Khan's statements and added that his comments were a humiliation to the Afghan people and the Islamic system, the report said. The government of Afghanistan is yet to comment on the remarks of the Pakistan Prime Minister.

Women Empowerment In Nigeria: Gender Equality Bill Anti-Islam, Women Cannot Be Equal To Men, Say Northern Senators

Hillary Essien

DECEMBER 15, 2021

Northern senators on Wednesday kicked against a proposed law for women empowerment in Nigeria, saying its content contradicts Islam and northern cultural values.

Senator Abiodun Olujimi of Ekiti has been pushing to get the bill through the parliament since 2016, but some senators have raised different concerns to get the bill shut down or at least returned to the initial stages.

Mrs Olujimi said the bill will “allow for the prohibition of all forms of discrimination against women and provide for the equality of all persons,” including people of determination in the society.

But some northern senators said the bill was not properly worded, especially its title that seeks equality rather than equity; while arguing strongly that it would contravene the tenets of Islam.

“This equality infringes on the Quran,” Abubakar Yusuf, representing Taraba Central Senatorial District, said at today’s plenary. “I will not support the passage of the bill until the word equality is removed. When you bring equality into it infringes on the Quran.”

In his argument, Aliyu Wammako, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, said he will not support the bill as currently framed.

“When it comes to socio-cultural practices, it is wrong,” Mr Wamakko said. “When you talk of equity it is okay. When you talk of equality I will not support it.”

But Senator IIstifanus Gyang from Plateau North said the bill holds crucial elements to Nigeria’s social and economic development.

“Women have been at the receiving end of being excluded,” the senator said while expressing his support. “Women are entitled to equal opportunities. Being a woman is not being less human.”

Senate President Ahmad Lawan said the concerns of northern senators should be addressed before the bill could scale through.

Mrs Olujimi has faced relentless opposition since first proposing the bill in 2015. The bill suffered through the Eighth Assembly without passage, but she said her determination made her present the bill for consideration in the current Ninth Assembly.

In 2016, some senators rejected the bill, saying it would make women become lesbians and prostitutes. The argument was rejected by civic groups, who warned that failure to pass the bill could leave Nigeria behind amongst countries seeking to score better in global development indicators.

Pakistani Shia cleric: Hazrat Zahra best role model for Muslim women

December 21, 2021

A Pakistani cleric praised the position of Hazrat Fatimah al-Zahra (SA), noting that she is the best role model for Muslim women.

“Today’s capitalist system is trying to offer an unhuman and trivial model to Muslim women and girls by cultural aggression. So introducing different aspects of Hazrat Zahra’s character can be the best practical model for women in the Islamic society,” Seyyed Shoja Hossein Hosseini, a lecturer at Qom seminary school, said on Monday on the occasion of the Martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (SA).

All Muslims and even all human beings are somehow indebted to this great figure since the Gold Almighty has bestowed parts of his blessings to humans because of the presence of such characters, he said.

Lauding the role of Hazrat Zahra (SA) inside the family, the cleric went on to refer to a Prophetic hadith which reads “Fatima is a part of me, and he who makes her angry, makes me angry. And he who makes me angry, makes God angry.” This shows the great position of Hazrat Zahrah (SA), he stressed.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would kiss the hands and face of his daughter and this kind of behavior and expression of love to daughters created a revolution at the social level as people were being surprised by it, he added.

Referring to the sublime features of Ahlul Bayt (SA), the cleric pointed to a famous prophetic hadith which reads “The similitude of my Ahlul Bayt, is like that of the Ark of Noah: The one who embarks it, will have saved himself, and the one who turns away from it, is doomed.”

The way Hazrat Zahra (SA) behaved with Hazrat Ali (AS) and her children is a great model for women all around the world, Sayyed Hosseini concluded.
