Allah Azzawajal says in the Quran, “O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.” (4:1)

Allah Almighty created all human beings from one soul i.e. Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) and from it its mate i.e. Hazrat Eve (Hawwa, may Allah be pleased with her)

The Qur'an contains wonderful details about the origin of mankind, the stages of creation, and the human psyche, and why not, because humankind was created by Allah Azzawajal, and who knows humankind better than the one who created him? Allah explicitly states this fact in the Qur'an, “What! Will He Who has created not know? Whereas He knows every detail, the All-Aware!” (67:14)

The Qur'an beautifully describes man's position in the sight of God, his strengths and weaknesses, positive and negative aspects, strengths and weaknesses, as well as the correct use of power and ways to overcome weaknesses. All of these details are fascinating and beneficial to those who meditate on the Qur'an.

According to the Holy Qur'an, Allah Almighty has made man more honourable than other creatures.

“Indeed We have honoured the Descendants of Adam and transported them over land and sea, and gave them good things as sustenance, and made them better than most of Our creation.” (17:70)

Honouring mankind, Allah Azzawajal has endowed them with intellect, knowledge, eloquence, pure form, and moderate stature, and taught them how to beautify this world and the hereafter.

The condition of Human beings, on the other hand, is deteriorating by the day. Man is becoming a victim of deception today by forgetting the teachings given for the betterment of this world and the next. The modern man has lost sight of morals and character. One man has turned against the life, property, and honour of another. The world is on the verge of collapse, and there is a pervasive sense of war and murder everywhere. To avoid this disaster, we must first recognise human values and good manners toward one another and constantly practise them while keeping them in mind. The seventy-five excellent Quranic teachings listed below are extremely important to us.

1·         Do Not Be Rude In Speech.

Allah Almighty says, “So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]” (3:159)

2.       Restrain Anger

Allah Almighty says, “Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good” (3:134)

3.       Be Good To Others

“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbour, the neighbour farther away, the companion at your side, the traveller, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful” (4:36)

4.       Do Not Be Arrogant

“[Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise, for it is not for you to be arrogant therein. So get out; indeed, you are of the debased.” (7:13)

5.       Forgive Others For Their Mistakes

“And [O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) adopt forgiveness, and enjoin virtue, and turn away from the ignorant.” (7:199)

6.       Speak To People Courteously

“And speak to him courteously, that perhaps he may ponder or have some fear.” (20:44)

7.       Lower Your Voice

“And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys.” (31:19)

8.       Do Not Ridicule Others

“O People who Believe! Men must not ridicule other men for it could be that the ridiculed are better than the mockers, nor must the women ridicule other women for the ridiculed women may be better than the mockers and do not insult one another, nor assign evil nicknames; how base it is to be called a sinner after being a Muslim! And whoever does not repent – then it is they who are unjust.” (49:11)

9.       Treat the Parents with Kindness

“And your Lord has ordained that you do not worship anyone except Him, and treat your parents with kindness; if either of them or both reach old age in your presence, do not say “Uff”* to them and do not rebuff them, and speak to them with the utmost respect. (* Any expression of disgust)” (17:23)

10.     Speak To The Parents With Utmost Respect.

See it in the above mentioned Ayat (17:23)

11.     Do Not Enter Parents’ Private Room without Asking Permission

“O you who have believed, let those whom your right hands possess and those who have not [yet] reached puberty among you ask permission of you [before entering] at three times: before the dawn prayer and when you put aside your clothing [for rest] at noon and after the night prayer. [These are] three times of privacy for you. There is no blame upon you nor upon them beyond these [periods], for they continually circulate among you - some of you, among others. Thus does Allah make clear to you the verses; and Allah is Knowing and Wise.” (24:58)

12.     Write down the Debt with Accuracy and Take Witnesses Whenever Trade Is Performed

“O People who Believe! If you make an agreement for debt for a specified time, write it down; and appoint a scribe to write it for you with accuracy; and the scribe must not refuse to write in the manner Allah has taught him, so he must write; and the liable person (debtor) should dictate it to him and fear Allah, Who is his Lord, and not hide anything of the truth; but if the debtor is of poor reasoning, or weak, or unable to dictate, then his guardian must dictate with justice; and appoint two witnesses from your men; then if two men are not available, one man and two women from those you would prefer to be witnesses, so that if one of them forgets, the other can remind her; and the witnesses must not refuse when called upon to testify; do not feel burdened to write it, whether the transaction is small or big – write it for up to its term’s end; this is closer to justice before Allah and will be a strong evidence and more convenient to dispel doubts amongst yourselves – except when it is an instant trade in hich exchange is carried out immediately, there is no sin on you if it is not written down; and take witnesses whenever you perform trade; and neither the scribe nor the witnesses be caused any harm (or they cause any harm); and if you do, it would be an offence on your part; and fear Allah; and Allah teaches you; and Allah knows everything.” (2:282)

13.     Do Not Follow The Forefathers Blindly But Follow The Quran

“And when it is said to them, “Follow what Allah has sent down”, hey say, “On the contrary, we shall follow what we found our forefathers upon”; What! Even if their forefathers had no intelligence or guidance?!” (2:170)

14.     Grant More Time To Repay If the Debtor Is In a Hard Time

“And if the debtor is in difficulty, give him respite till the time of ease; and your foregoing the entire debt from him is still better for you, if only you realise.” (2:280)

15.     Don’t Consume Interest

“Those who devour interest (usury) will not stand up on the Day of Judgment, except like the one whom an evil jinn has deranged by his touch; that is because they said, “Trade is also like usury!”; whereas Allah has made trading lawful and forbidden usury; for one to whom the guidance has come from his Lord, and he refrained therefrom, is lawful what he has taken in the past; and his affair is with Allah; and whoever continues earning it henceforth, is of the people of fire; they will remain in it for ages.” (2:275)

16. Do Not Engage In Bribery

“And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]” (2:188)

17. Do Not Break the Promise

“Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveller, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives Zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are righteous.” (2:177)

18. Keep The Trust

“And if you are on a journey and cannot find a scribe, then a security deposit [should be] taken. And if one of you entrusts another, then let him who is entrusted discharge his trust [faithfully] and let him fear Allah, his Lord. And do not conceal testimony, for whoever conceals it - his heart is indeed sinful, and Allah is Knowing of what you do.” (2:283)

19. Do Not Mix the Truth with Falsehood

“And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it].” (2:42)

20. Judge with Justice between People

“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing.” (4:58)

21. Stand Out Firmly For Justice

“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.” (4:135)

22. Wealth Of The Dead Should Be Distributed Among His Family Members

“For men is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, and for women is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, be it little or much - an obligatory share.”  (4:7)

23. Women Also Have The Right For Inheritance

“….and for women is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, be it little or much - an obligatory share.”  (4:7)

24. Do Not Devour The Property Of Orphans

“Indeed, those who devour the property of orphans unjustly are only consuming into their bellies fire. And they will be burned in a Blaze.” (4:10)

25. Protect Orphans

“Before you execute your deeds of this world and of the Hereafter; and they ask you the decree regarding orphans; say, “To do good towards them is better; and if you combine your expenses with theirs, they are your brothers”; and Allah knows very well the one who spoils from him who improves; and if Allah willed, He could have put you in hardship; and Allah is Almighty, Wise.” (2:220)

26. Do Not Consume One Another’s Wealth Unjustly

“O People who Believe! Do not unjustly devour the property of each other, except through trade by mutual agreement; and do not kill one another; indeed Allah is Most Merciful upon you.” (4:29)

27. Try For Settlement Between People

“And if two groups of Muslims fight against each other, reconcile them; and if one of them oppresses the other, fight against the oppressor till it returns to the command of Allah; then if it returns, reconcile between them with justice, and be fair; indeed Allah loves the equitable.” (49:9)

28. Avoid Suspicion

“O People who Believe! Avoid excessive assumptions; indeed assumption sometimes becomes a sin, and do not seek faults, and do not slander one another; would anyone among you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? So you will hate that! And fear Allah; indeed Allah is Most Acceptor of Repentance, Most Merciful.” (49:12)

29. Do Not Spy Or Backbite

“O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful.” (49:12)

30. Spend Wealth In Charity

“Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great reward.” (57:7)

31. Seek forgiveness of Allah. He is Forgiving and Merciful

“And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” (73:20)

32. Encourage Feeding Poor

“Just look at him, who belies the religion! So it is he, who pushes away the orphan, And does not urge to feed the needy." (107:1-3)

33. Help Those In Need By Finding Them

“(Spend) For the poor who are restricted while in Allah's cause, who cannot travel in the land (for earning) – the unwise think they are wealthy because of their restraint; you will recognize them by their faces; they do not seek from people in order to avoid grovelling, and Allah knows whatever you spend in charity.” (2:273)

34. Do Not Spend Money Extravagantly

“And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent.” (17:29)

35. Do Not Invalidate Charity with Reminders

“O People who Believe! Do not invalidate your charity by expressing favour and causing injury – like one who spends his wealth for people to see, and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day; his example is similar to that of a rock covered with dust and a hard rain fell on it, leaving it as a bare rock; they shall get no control over (or benefit from) anything they have earned, and Allah does not guide the disbelievers.” (2:264)

36. Honour Guests

This is inferred from the Quranic verses 51: 24-27.

It is reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever believes in God and the Last Day, let him honour his neighbour; whoever believes in God and the Last Day, let him honour his guest as he is entitled." It was said, "What is his entitlement, O Messenger of God?" He said, "[The best treatment] for one day and one night; and hospitality is for three days, and anything after that is charity bestowed upon him.  And whoever believes in God and the Last Day, let him, speak good words or else remain silent.” (Sahih Bukhari)

37. Order Righteousness to People Only After Practicing It Yourself

“Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason?” (2:44)

38. Do Not Commit Abuse on the Earth

“And [recall] when Moses prayed for water for his people, so We said, "Strike with your staff the stone." And there gushed forth from it twelve springs, and every people knew its watering place. "Eat and drink from the provision of Allah, and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.”  (2:60)

39. Do Not Prevent People from Mosques

“And who is more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques and strive toward their destruction. It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is a disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment.”  (2:114)

40. Do Not Be the Transgressors

“Do not exceed the limits, and Allah does not like the transgressors.” (2:190)

41. Treat Non-Muslims in a Kind and Fair Manner

“Allah does not forbid you from those who did not fight against you because of religion and did not drive you out from your homes, that you should be kind towards them and deal with them fairly; indeed the equitable are the beloved of Allah.” (60:8)

42. Save Yourself from Covetousness

“Therefore fear Allah as much as possible, and heed the commands, and obey, and spend in Allah’s cause, for your own good; and whoever is rescued from the greed of his own soul – is they who will be successful. (64:16)

43. Do Not Force Non-Muslims to Accept Islam

“There is no compulsion at all in religion; undoubtedly the right path has become very distinct from error, and whoever rejects faith in the devil (false deities) and believes in Allah has grasped a very firm handhold; it will never loosen; and Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (2:256)

44. Believe In All Prophets

“The Noble Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him by his Lord, and so do the believers; all have accepted faith in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Noble Messengers; saying, “We do not make any distinction, in believing, between any of His Noble Messengers”; and they said, “We hear, and we obey; Your forgiveness be granted, O our Lord, and towards You is our return.” (2:285)

45. Those Who Have Knowledge Will Be Given a Higher Degree By Allah

“Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.” (58:11)

46. Decide On Affairs By Consultation

“And those who obeyed the command of their Lord and kept the prayer established; and whose affairs are with mutual consultation; and who spend in Our cause from what We have bestowed upon them.” (42:38)

47. Repel Evil By Good

“And the good deed and the evil deed will never be equal; O listener! Repel the evil deed with a good one, thereupon the one between whom and you was enmity, will become like a close friend.” (41:34)

This verse implies that people should repel anger with patience, error with truth, ignorance with clemency and the commission of evil with the pardon. Such virtuous deeds can lead to reconciliation, love and empathy.

In this vein, many scholars quote a hadith that is taken to be a foundation principle of Islamic laws, “let there be no harming and no reciprocating harm”. Another Hadith says, “Keep relations with those who cut them off with you, give to those who deny you, and ignore those who oppress you”.

48. Choose Rulers By Their Merit

“And their prophet said to them, "Indeed, Allah has sent to you Saul as a king." They said, "How can he have kingship over us while we are more worthy of kingship than him and he has not been given any measure of wealth?" He said, "Indeed, Allah has chosen him over you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah gives His sovereignty to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing [in favour] and Knowing." (2:247)

49. Do Not Burden A Person Beyond His Scope

“Allah does not burden anyone, except with something within its capacity...” (2:286)

50. Enjoin Good Deeds And Forbid Immorality

“You are the best among all the nations that were raised among mankind – you enjoin good deeds and forbid immorality and you believe in Allah, and if the People given the Book(s) believed it would be better for them; some of them are believers (Muslims) and most of them are disbelievers” (3:103)

51. Think Deeply About The Wonders And Creation Of This Universe

“..Those who remember Allah while standing, and sitting, and reclining on their sides, and ponder about the creation of the heavens and the earth; “O our Lord! You have not created this without purpose; Purity is to You, therefore save us from the punishment of fire.” (3:191)

52. Men And Women Have Equal Rewards For Their Deeds

“So their Lord accepted their prayer, for I do not waste the efforts of any (righteous) worker, male or female; you are all one among yourselves..” (3:195)

53. Do Not Marry Those In Your Blood Relation

“Forbidden for you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your father’s sisters, and your mother’s sisters, and your brothers’ daughters and your sisters’ daughters, and your foster-mothers (who breast-fed you), and their daughters (your foster-sisters), and your wives’ mothers (mothers-in-law), and your wives’ daughters who are under your protection – born of the women with whom you have cohabited; and if you have not cohabited with them, then it is no sin for you to marry their daughters; and (forbidden are) the wives of your own sons (and foster-sons and grandsons) and the keeping of two sisters together in marriage, except what has already passed; indeed Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (4:23)

54. Family Should Be Led By Men

“Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.”  (4:34)

55. Do Not Be Miserly

“…Those who are misers and preach miserliness to others, and hide what Allah has bestowed upon them from His munificence; and We have kept ready a disgraceful punishment for the disbelievers.”  (4:37)

56. Do Not Keep Envy

“Or do they envy people due to what Allah has given them from His grace? In that case, We bestowed the Book and the wisdom upon the family of Ibrahim (Abraham), and We gave them a great kingdom.”  (4:54)

57. Do Not Kill Each Other

“It is not rightful for a Muslim to kill another Muslim unless it occurs by mistake; and the one who mistakenly kills a Muslim must set free a Muslim slave and pay blood-money to the family of the slain, except if they forego it; and if the victim is of a people who are hostile to you, and the killer is a Muslim, then only the setting free of a Muslim slave (is obligatory); and if the victim is from a people between whom and you there is a treaty, then blood-money must be paid to his family and the setting free of a Muslim slave; therefore one who has no means must fast for two consecutive months; this is his penance before Allah; and Allah is All-Knowing, Wise.”  (4:92)

58. Do Not Be An Advocate For Deceit

“Indeed, We have revealed to you the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which Allah has shown you. And do not be for the deceitful an advocate.” (4:105)

59. Do Not Cooperate In Sin and Aggression

“Do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.”  (5:2)

60. Cooperate In Righteousness

“And cooperate in righteousness and piety” (5:2)

61. Invitation To God Should Be With Wisdom And Good Instruction

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.”  (16:125)

The term good instruction can also mean instruction given in the Quran or the one which is done sincerely for the benefit of human beings in a non-compulsive and gentle way that softens hearts.

62. Be Just

“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do. (5:8)

This ayat teaches Muslims that to stand for justice against friends and enemies is to stand for God. Justice for enemies here means that one should not treat the enemies in a manner that exceeds the limits mentioned in the Divine Book of Allah.

63. No One Will Bear Others’ Sins

“Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger.” (17:15)

This verse means that no person will be accountable for the misdeeds of others. Every person is responsible for his deeds or misdeeds. Some lead others astray, yet those who are thus misguided will bear the consequences of their sins by themselves. There are also verses that indicate that those who mislead people will bear an additional burden. (see 7:38)

64. Strive Against Sinful And Unlawful Acts

“Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? How wretched is what they have been practicing.” (5:63)

It is the responsibility of religious scholars to forbid people from committing sinful acts. This verse, according to Hazrat Ibn Abbas, is among the most frightening Quranic verses perhaps due to the warning given to those who have religious knowledge but who fail to practice moral responsibilities incumbent upon such knowledgeable people.

65. Dead Animals, Blood, the Flesh Of Swine Are Prohibited

This is clearly mentioned in this full Quranic verse, “Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” (5:3)

66. Avoid Intoxicants And Alcohol

“O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.” (5:90)

67. Do Not Gamble

“O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.” (5:90)

68. Do Not Insult Others’ Deities

“And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.” (6:108)

69. Don’t Reduce Weight Or Measure To Cheat People

“And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfil. This has He instructed you that you may remember.” (6:152)

70. Eat And Drink, But Do Not Be Excessive

“O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.” (7:31)

71. Wear Good Clothes during Prayer Times

“O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.” (7:31)

72. Protect and Help Those Who Seek Protection

“And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.” (9:6)

73. Keep Purity

“Do not stand [for prayer] within it - ever. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves, and Allah loves those who purify themselves.” (9:108)

74. Never Give Up Hope Of Allah’s Mercy

“O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair, not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people." (12:87)

75. Allah Will Forgive Those Who Repent After Committing Sins Out Of Ignorance

“Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves - indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.” (16:119)

May God Almighty grant His blessings to remember and practice these human values and good manners!
