Islam,
Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism and All Other Religious Faith Agree That 'Trust
In God’ Is the Most Realistic Ingredient That Makes Sense in Success to
Humankind
Main
Points:
1. The trait of
trust is inborn in all human beings.
2. The world
revolves on the axis of trust, faith and confidence.
3. Religions
are a source of living a life that is ornamented with divinely trust as well as
worldly achievements.
4. The trust
(Tawakkul (توکل))
in Allah, the Most Kind will be more fruitful if the trust of His people is not
broken.
-----
Trust is
not something taught to a kid either at home or in an educational institute.
The trait of trust is inborn in all human beings. Allah the Most Gracious has
ingrained in human being all that is required for a successful divine life.
Trust is one of the most realistic ingredients that make life easier to live.
All the
while, for worldly affairs as well, on every step one has to accept others
advice on the faith that the person concerned is trustworthy. Had it not been
so life would have been near impossible to live! It is the trust we have in our
family members that we never feel insecure. It is the trust in society that we
feel free to contact each other for any inconvenience caused to rectify the
issue, peacefully.
In
democratic parlance, it is our trust in a certain party or a leader not being
ditched that we elect them to run the country or the state. Winning or losing
an election is a matter of being trustworthy and untrustworthy. Revolutions or
struggles are a case of losing confidence and trust in the system concerned. Thus,
the world, therefore, revolves on the axis of trust, faith and confidence. One
cannot imagine a life in absence of all these things.
Humanity,
therefore, cannot be imagined to exist in the absence of trust and confidence
in the Creator of the planet earth and all that is there on it. The human being
is not as confident as it exhibits. It achieves the unachievable on the
conference that God is there to guide and protect him against all the odds that
may occur in the course of his research and invention.
Medical
scientists have achieved the almost unachievable cure of the Covid-19 pandemic
in almost no time. The cure of all other pandemics, the world has witnessed has
taken years in being invented. This must be their spiritual trust and
confidence in their ability that brought laurels for them.
Islam,
Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism and all other religious faith agree on the
point that 'trust in God' and self-ability is the most realistic ingredient
that makes sense in success to humankind. Our trust in God, the Almighty brings
us out of the dangerous situations that point to a certain failure or death.
Trust in God works as a blessing in disguise in difficult times.
Revealed
Holy Books, other divine scriptures and the sayings of the Prophets, priests
and holy men speak volumes on the benefits of trust in God. Such as:
“…place your trust in Allah. Surely, Allah
loves those who place their trust in Him.” (Q. 3:159)
“Tie her and trust in Allah.” (Sunan
al-Tirmidhī 2517)
“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever
trusts in the LORD is safe.” -Proverbs 29:25
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or
terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never
leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
“Nanak, the whole world is in distress. He, who
believes in the Name, becomes victorious.” (Guru Nanak, Sri Guru Granth Sahib)
“I am the father of this universe, the mother,
the support and the grandsire” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.17)
Mankind’s
trust in God and God’s assurance of positivity in return is the axis on which
human life revolves. Trust that God is always there to take human being on the
straight path of divinity as well as worldly achievements is the key to
all-around success, the world has witnessed. Whatever be the situation from a
common man to an astronaut to a medical scientist, all have the faith inward
that they will be successful in their endeavour having faith in God and their
knowledge.
Religions
are a source of living a life that is ornamented with divinely trust as well as
worldly achievements. Consider the following verses and sayings of various
religions and religious leaders:
Quranic
Verses Stressing to Have Trust in Allah, the Most Merciful
“Say, ‘He is the Most Beneficent (Allah), in
Him we believe, and in Him, we put our trust,” (Al-Mulk, 67:29).
“And put
your trust in Allah, and sufficient is Allah as a Trustee (Disposer of
Affairs),”
(Al-Ahzab, 33:3).
Said two
men from those who feared [to disobey] upon whom Allah had bestowed favour,
“Enter upon them through the gate, for when you have entered it, you will be
predominant. And upon Allah rely, if you should be believers.” (Surah Ma’idah Ayat 23)
“If
Allah should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you,
who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers
rely.” (3:160)
“Do not
lose hope, nor be sad. You will surely be victorious if you are true in Faith.”
And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know
[it].” (3:129)
And
whoever puts all his trust in Allah, He will be enough for him. (Quran 65:3) [11]
And put
all your trust [in Allah], if you truly are believers. (Quran 5:23) [12]
He is
Rabb of the east and west, there is no deity except Him, so take him as your
Protector. (Quran
73:9) [13]
Put your
trust in the living Allah who never dies, and celebrate His praise. (Quran 25:58)
In Allah
should the trustful trust. (Quran 14:12)
Hadees
Traditions on Having Faith in Allah
Umar bin
Khattab said: I heard Muhammad saying, "If you all depend on Allah with
due reliance, He would certainly give you provision as He gives it to the birds
who go forth hungry in the morning and return with full bellies at dusk."
(At-Tirmidhi)
Imam Ibn
Qayyim al-Jawziyya said: “At-Tawakkul on Allah was thus made a condition of
Imaan; its absence, therefore, indicates the lack of Imaan. So, whoever does
not have at-Tawakkul does not possess Imaan.”
Anas ibn
Malik reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my camel and
trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?” The Prophet,
(SAW), said, “Tie her and trust in Allah.” (Jami At-Tirmidhi English: Vol. 4,
Book 11, Hadith 2517)
Umar (May
Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard Messenger of Allah (?) saying: “If you
all depend on Allah with due reliance, He would certainly give you provision as
He gives it to birds who go forth hungry in the morning and return with a full
belly at dusk”. [At-Tirmidhi].
One of my
favourite hadiths or sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), involves a camel.
Anas ibn Malik reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my
camel and trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?” The
Prophet (SAW), said, “Tie her and trust in Allah.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2517)

Sahib)
“For each
and every person, our Lord and Master provides sustenance. Why are you so
afraid, O mind? The flamingos fly hundreds of miles, leaving their young ones
behind. Who feeds them, and who teaches them to feed themselves? Have you ever
thought of this in your mind?” (Guru Nanak, Sri Guru Granth Sahib)
“Your Mercy
is my social status.” (Guru Nanak, Sri

Hinduism
“No one who
does good work will ever come to a bad end, either here or in the world to
come” (Bhagwad Gita)
“Only unto
those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual
master are all the imports of Vedic knowledge automatically revealed.” (SU

"The
power of God is with you at all times; through the activities of mind, senses,
breathing, and emotions; and is constantly doing all the work using you as a
mere instrument." (Bhagwad Gita)
Below is
an Upanishadic story regarding the Faith:
In ancient
times, a severe drought occurred in one region of India. One of the villages in
that region was severely affected by this draught. Without rains, the villagers
faced a bleak future, as their all livelihood depended on agricultural produce
only. All of the rivers and the lakes got dried up due to the extreme heat of
the sun. Not even a single drop of water was left in the wells. The whole
village people were desperate for the water.
Villagers
approached the village priest (pundit) and asked him to organize a prayer to
the rain God & asked him to organize a meeting for the same in the temple.
All of the villagers came to attend this prayer meeting. In the last one-man
arrived at the temple and all of the villagers started looking at this one man
with curiosity. Among all the villagers this man was the only one who was
carrying an umbrella to this prayer meeting. No villager was ever seen carrying
an umbrella outside of the rainy seasons. To the villagers, it seemed
unconventional to carry an umbrella when there was not one rain cloud in the
sky.
The prayer
meeting commenced and at the end of all the rituals and ceremonies, when people
were about to leave the temple, they could not hold back their curiosity about
the man and his umbrella.
‘Why was he
carrying the umbrella?’ villagers asked him.
The man
with the umbrella replied: "I have "Faith" in God & the God
will provide. He only gives and He only takes away. God will surely answer our
prayers for the rain and I will need the umbrella for the rains".
The villagers
laughed at him. Not one of the villagers could appreciate the absolute and
sincere "Faith" of the man with the umbrella. The scorching heat of
the sun outside the temple was still fresh in their minds.
Lo……..Behold,
a miracle took place. As the people were going out of the temple door and
putting on their shoes, rain clouds appeared in the sky, the gentle breeze gave
way to stormy winds, suddenly the sky darkened and thunder and lightning
heralded the coming of the rains. A sudden rainfall opened the eyes of the
villagers. Their ridicule of the man with the umbrella changed to their
amazement, disbelief, and they now understood the intense "Faith" of
this man. Now the villagers got convinced that it was the sincere
"Faith" & prayer of this man and devotion to the God that He has
answered to his prayers.
Judaism
“Depend on
the Lord in whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3).
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at
his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the
Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the
Lord looks at the heart.” (Samuel 16:7).
“But those
who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like
eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
(Isaiah 40:31).
“And the boy Samuel continued to grow in
stature and in favour with the Lord and with people.” (Samuel 2:26).
“But the
Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send
you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with
you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 1:7-9).
“And God
said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the
cattle, and overall the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon
the earth.” (Genesis 1:26).
“But you
are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding
in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.”(Nehemiah 9:17).
Jainism
“It is a
friend's duty that he does not leave his friend in a difficult position but
provide intimacy and support to him. In difficulty who leaves is a false and
the one not quitting is a true friend.” (Acharya Shri Mahashraman)
Buddhism
“I never
see what has been done; I only see what remains to be done.” (Mahatma Buddha)
“You only
lose what you cling to.” (Mahatma
Buddha)
“Every
human being is the author of his own health or disease.” (Mahatma Buddha)
“The root
of suffering is attachment.” (Mahatma Buddha)
Keeping
Trust to Generate Fruit of Peace and Harmony
Trust in
fellow human being is also as beautiful a feeling as it is ‘trust in God’. The
Creator of this universe sends His blessings to the people who trust in His
divinity to help and in the same fashion, our trust in our people should also
be positively replied to. But in many a case, these days’ people are not
respecting people’s trust in them. This phenomenon has created a cloud of
mistrust hovering in the atmosphere that is generating fear psychosis in the
mind of the human being. It is a dangerous sign for human survival.
Above
mentioned verses and sayings of Islam and other religions of the world need to
be followed by their followers to achieve divinity and peace in the world and
their lives. Let the world leaders and the powers that be create a world where
trust rules the roost. The destiny of the whole world is safe if the citizens
of the world trust their fellow beings.
The trust
(Tawakkul (توکل))
in Allah, the Most Kind will be more fruitful if the trust of His people is not
broken and the confidence-building measures are taken for the rule of peace and
tranquillity. Let us consider the following and build a world full of divine
virtues:
The Prophet, (SAW), said, “Were you to put your
complete trust in Allah, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds.
They issue forth hungry in the morning and return filled in the evening.”
(Related by Al-Tirmidhi).
“All the
world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.” ― (J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan)
“Leave
things in the hands of God.” (Ibn al-Husayn al-Sulami, The Way of Sufi Chivalry)
“Let your
life reflect the faith you have in God. Fear nothing and pray about everything.
Be strong, trust God's word, and trust the process.” (Germany Kent)
“In times
of trouble, trust in God!” (Lailah Gifty
Akita)
And
Allah Knows the Best.
