How Osama Bin Laden Escaped Afghanistan Disguised As A Woman? Ex-CIA Officer Reveals
October 25, 2025
By Gazi Abbas Shahid

(File)
----------
Osama bin Laden, the dreaded terrorist leader and founder of the Al-Qaeda terror group, managed to escape from the Tora Bora hills in Afghanistan disguised as a woman, a former CIA officer has revealed.
In a interview with news agency ANI, John Kiriakou, a decorated CIA officer who served as the agency’s counterterrorism chief in Pakistan, made stunning revelations about Osama bin Laden’s escape from Afghanistan when the notorious Al-Qaeda founder was being hunted by the United States after terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Kiriakou noted that following the 9/11 attacks, the US was more “reactive than proactive”, to the point where the even the CIA failed to realise that a translator for the commander of Central Command was actually an “Al Qaeda operative who had infiltrated the US military”.
“First, the United States was reactive at the time rather than proactive. We believed in October of 2001 that we had Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaeda leadership cornered at Tora Bora,” the ex-CIA officer was quoted as saying.
“We did not know that the translator for the commander of Central Command was actually an al-Qaeda operative who had infiltrated the US military. And so we knew we had bin Laden cornered. We told him to come down the mountain. And he said through the translator, can you just give us until dawn? We want to evacuate the women and children and then we’ll come down and give up. The translator convinced General Franks to approve this idea. What ended up happening was bin Laden dressed as a woman and he escaped under the cover of darkness in the back of a pickup truck into Pakistan,” he revealed.
At dawn, Kiriakou said, the US forces realized that bin Laden had escape and Tora Bora caves were empty, “so we had to move the fight to Pakistan proper.”
Later, Osama bin Laden was tracked down by US Navy’s SEAL Team 6 to Abbottabad city in north Pakistan, and was eliminated by the US Special Forces team at his safe house on May 2, 2011.
John Kiriakou said US relations with Pakistan at the time, were “very, very good”, and Washington had “essentially just purchased” then Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, who would “essentially let us do whatever we wanted to do”.
“And so we essentially just purchased Musharraf. We gave millions and millions and millions of dollars in aid, whether it was military aid or economic development aid. And we would meet with Musharraf regularly, several times a week. And essentially he would let us do whatever we wanted to do. Yes. But Musharraf also had his own people that he needed to deal with,” the former CIA officer said.
Kiriakou said the Pakistani military leadership did not care about Al Qaeda, but about India, and in order to keep the military and extremists happy, Musharraf “had to allow them to continue this dual life of pretending to cooperate with the Americans on counterterrorism while committing terror against India”.
Kiriakou said the United States was focused on Al-Qaeda and Afghanistan and there was not much attention to Indian concerns.
“And I’ll tell you another thing. Just a couple of months later in March of 2002, we raided a Lashkar-e-Taiba safe house in Lahore. And in that house, we captured three Lashkar-e-Taiba fighters who had with them a copy of the Al Qaeda training manual. And it was the first time, analytically, that we were able to connect Lashkar-e-Taiba with Al-Qaeda. The very first time. I remember receiving a cable from the deputy director of the CIA for intelligence congratulating us on finding this training manual, saying it was the very first time that we could attach the Pakistani government to Al–Qaeda,” he said.
Asked about the issue not being highlighted, he said that the decision was made at the White House. “And the decision was that that the relationship is bigger than India, Pakistan. At least temporarily. The relationship, we needed the Pakistanis actually more than they needed us at that point. We were happy to throw money at them. That’s what they responded to. But we really needed them to let us base our drones in Balochistan, for example,” he said.

Far-Right Anti-Islam Figure Tommy Robinson 'Poses As Muslim' To Enter Al-Aqsa Mosque
25 October, 2025

Robinson is known for his anti-Islam agitation and has been convicted of crimes relating to it [Getty]
--------------
Far-right anti-Islam figure Tommy Robinson attempted to gain entry to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest site located in occupied East Jerusalem, by implying that he was a convert to Islam, a new video has shown.
Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was accompanied by the Australian-Israeli activist Avi Yemeni, a former Israeli soldier, along with Turkish ex-Muslim anti-Islam YouTuber Ridvan Aydemir.
The trip formed part of a wider tour of Israel and Jerusalem, undertaken after Robinson was invited to the country by Israel’s diaspora minister, Amichai Chikli.
Footage shows Robinson first outside the mosque compound being briefed about the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the far-right American-Israeli activist Yehudah Glick. Glick, a former Member of the Knesset, campaigns to overturn Palestinian control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increase Jewish-Israeli control over the site.
Robinson and his entourage then make their way into the Al-Aqsa compound, with the convicted football hooligan attempting to enter the mosque before being gently stopped by a Palestinian guard.
"How can I know if you're a Muslim?" the guard asks suspiciously. After Robinson shrugs his shoulders and says "How can you know?", the guard asks him to recite some of the Qur'an, specifically the Al-Fatiha opening prayer.
After this, another guard steps in and tells them explicitly that the mosque is "only for Muslims" and asks them to stop filming. Robinson continues trying to provoke the guards, asking, "Is there a place that's only for Christians?"
The guard at one point puts his arm around Robinson and explains that it's for political reasons that entry to the mosque is prohibited to non-Muslims.
Robinson and his allies have used the incident to claim that the convicted criminal was "banned" from Al-Aqsa, despite the rule applying to all non-Muslims.
Entry to the mosque itself is restricted under Islamic Waqf administration, while the wider compound - known to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif and to Jews as the Temple Mount - remains under Israeli occupation and frequent tension due to illegal infiltrations by extremist Israelis.
Reacting to the video on Instagram, a Muslim user called Majada786 wrote: "This really made my blood boil seeing Tommy ... trying to get in. Respect to the brothers for standing their ground. Alhamdulillah."
The stunt took place during Robinson’s wider tour of Israel, in which he met with far-right figures, praised Israel’s military actions in Gaza, and made a series of anti-Arab and anti-Muslim remarks.
His visit to Israel was widely ridiculed across social media, including by some Israelis, who accused him of exploiting their country for propaganda, while it also prompted backlash from British Muslims and Jews alike.

Iraq's 2025 elections: Five major Sunni alliances ignite the race
2025-10-25

Iraq’s Sunni political landscape is intensifying ahead of the November 11 parliamentary elections, with five major alliances competing for influence in Iraq’s western and northern provinces.
The Progress (Taqaddum) Party, led by former Speaker of Parliament Mohammed al-Halbousi, is fielding candidates nationwide, with strongholds in al-Anbar, Nineveh, Baghdad, and other western provinces.
Its key allied blocs include Qimam (Tahaluf Qimam) led by Khaled Battal; al-Anbar Huwiyatuna, led by Ali Farhan al-Dulaimi; and the Leadership Coalition in al-Anbar (Ittihad al-Qiyada) led by Khalil al-Dulaimi. The alliance is expected to secure 27–30 seats nationwide, including nearly 90% of al-Anbar’s seats and four to five in Nineveh.
Al-Azm (Determination Party), under Muthanna al-Samarrai, is fielding around 300 candidates across most Sunni provinces, concentrating efforts on Baghdad, Diyala, Kirkuk, Mosul, Ramadi, and Saladin. It is projected to win 20–25 seats nationwide, with main candidates including Mahmoud al-Qaisi in Baghdad, Raad al-Dahlaki and Najat al-Taie in Diyala, and al-Samarrai leading the Saladin list.
Iraq's Sovereignty Alliance (Al-Siyada): Led by Khamis al-Khanjar, this alliance is contesting in Sunni-majority provinces nationwide and is expected to win 7–10 seats.
Nineveh For Its People (Ninawa Li Ahliha): Headed by Sheikh Abdullah Ajeel al-Yawar, this alliance is focused on Nineveh, where it could secure six to seven seats.
The National Resolve Alliance (Al-Hasm Al-Watani): Led by Defense Minister Thabit Al-Abbasi, this alliance is competing in Nineveh, al-Anbar, Baghdad, Saladin, and Diyala, with projections of six to eight seats nationwide.
The National Identity Party (Al-Huwiya Al-Wataniya): Led by Christian figure Rayan al-Kaldani with Sunni candidate Omar Namik Al-Mulla, Nineveh’s Deputy Governor, this party is also active in Nineveh and may gain three to four seats.
Earlier this year, the Unified Sunni Leadership Coalition (Ittihad Al-Qiyada Al-Sunniya Al-Muwahhada) was formed, bringing together former Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, Al-Siyada’s Khamis al-Khanjar, Azm’s Muthanna al-Samarrai, National Masses Party (Al-Jamaheer Al-Wataniya)’s Ahmad al-Jubouri, and Initiative (Al-Mubadara) bloc of Ziad Al-Janabi. Taqaddum was excluded from this coalition.

Global court initiative in Türkiye gathers Gaza war testimonies
26/10/2025,

Penny Green, a law professor at Queen Mary University, speaks during the Gaza Court's final session in Istanbul.
--------------
The Gaza Court initiative, holding its final session in Istanbul, is collecting testimonies and evidence on Israel's actions in Gaza. Organizers state the goal is to mobilize global public opinion and document war crimes, citing a failure of international legal systems.
The Gaza Court initiative, which convened a final session in Istanbul, Türkiye, is working to compile testimonies and evidence on the situation in Gaza. According to a participating academic, the project aims to document Israeli war crimes and galvanize global civil society in response to the shortcomings of official international legal channels.
Professor Penny Green, a law professor at Queen Mary University who participated in the Istanbul session, explained that while the initiative lacks formal legal authority, its purpose is to build a comprehensive archive. This archive is composed of witness statements, accounts from journalists, and expert contributions related to the genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.
Green underlined that the Gaza Court does not debate whether the events constitute genocide, as its participants already recognize them as such. She stated that the initiative's broader mission is to stir global civil society, noting widespread international protests against Israel's actions. Green characterized the session in Türkiye as a form of nonviolent global resistance.
The academic also criticized the failure of the international legal system to prevent or prosecute genocide, not only in Gaza but also in other regions like Myanmar and Sudan. She argued this failure has triggered a rise in civil society movements worldwide. Green also expressed support for solidarity efforts like the Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to break the blockade on Gaza.

Waqf Act will be 'thrown into dustbin' if INDIA bloc voted to power in Bihar: Tejashwi
Oct 26, 2025
Katihar, If the INDIA bloc is voted to power in Bihar, the Waqf (amendment) act would be "thrown into the dustbin", the opposition coalition's CM candidate Tejashwi Yadav said on Sunday.
Addressing a public rally in the Muslim-dominated Katihar district, Yadav said his father, Lalu Prasad, the RJD chief, never compromised with communal forces in the country.
"But chief minister Nitish Kumar has always supported such forces, and it is because of him that the RSS and its affiliates are spreading communal hatred in the state as well as in the country. The BJP should be called 'Bharat Jalao Party'. If the INDIA bloc comes to power in the state, we will throw the Waqf Act into the dustbin," he said.
The Waqf (amendment) act was passed by parliament in April. The ruling BJP-led NDA has described the law as a force for transparency and empowerment of backward Muslims and women from the community, but the opposition claimed that it infringes on the rights of Muslims.

BJP’s minority reality: Polls near, Suvendu Adhikari reaches out to ‘Indian Muslims’
26.10.25
Suvendu Adhikari, one of the most prominent faces of the BJP in Bengal, adopted a twin strategy on Friday — invoking religious polarisation to consolidate Hindu votes in South Dinajpur and Malda and simultaneously attempting to reassure Indian Muslims that they were distinct from “infiltrators.”
At a public meeting in Gangarampur, South Dinajpur, the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly said: “Whenever I speak, minorities think I may say something against them. But I never said we don’t want Muslim votes. It’s just that we don’t usually get them. Narendra Modi has worked for everyone’s development, and Indian Muslims have nothing to fear.”
His comments carry significance as both South Dinajpur and Malda share borders with Bangladesh and have substantial minority populations — around 27 per cent and 53 per cent, respectively.
Later in the day, at another rally in Gazole, Malda, in the Assembly sought to differentiate between Indian Muslims and “infiltrators”.
“Rohingya refugees and infiltrators from Bangladesh will be removed from the electoral rolls. Nearly a crore such voters will be identified, and 90 per cent of them vote for Trinamool,” he claimed.
Political observers noted that Adhikari’s remarks indicate the BJP’s dual approach—reaching out to the minority community and consolidating Hindu support in districts with significant Muslim populations.

Muslim representation debate flares up in Bihar
By Kumar Anshuman
Oct 25, 2025
The Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) partners in Bihar held a joint press conference in Patna on Thursday where Congress leader Ashok Gehlot announced Tejashwi Yadav as the coalition's chief ministerial face and Mukesh Sahni as a deputy CM candidate. Gehlot said more deputy chief ministers representing other communities would be appointed if the MGB came to power.
"Mahagathbandhan does not value minorities; it only uses Muslims as a vote bank and ignores them in ticket distribution. The community feels cheated. Where is the 'MY equation'? I appeal to the minority community to support the NDA for development," senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain told ET.
"In 2005, my father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan ji, even gave up his own party to make a Muslim chief minister, yet you did not support him. RJD wasn't ready for a Muslim CM then, and even in 2025 it isn't ready for a Muslim CM or deputy CM. If you remain a bonded vote bank, how will you get respect and participation?" he posted on X.Responding to the criticism, Congress Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru said the MGB would have more than one deputy CM if elected. "One deputy CM will be from Congress, and the alliance will ensure representation for all communities. To be specific, there will be a Muslim deputy CM too, which will be decided after the polls," he told ET.

On Bihar Opposition's Deputy Chief Minister Pick, A Owaisi's Muslim Question
by: Ajit Kumar Jha
Oct 25, 2025
New Delhi:In the colourful mosaic of Bihar's political landscape, where the holy Ganges and its tributaries flow with a history of resilience and renewal, and where democratic competition for votes has brought about a social churn among castes and communities - like the recurrent waves and floods of the Gangetic ecosystem - the question of representation has taken on a new urgency.
Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has emerged as a provocative voice in this complex narrative, raising pointed questions about the Mahagathbandhan's decision not to announce a Muslim deputy chief ministerial candidate.
Given that Muslims constitute nearly 18 per cent of Bihar's electorate, the absence of a representative in such a pivotal role is a paradox that reverberates through the state's socio-political discourse.

‘After 9/11, My Aunt Did Not Feel Safe In Her Hijab’: Zohran Mamdani Speaks To New York Muslims; JD Vance Reacts
Oct 25, 2025
Zohran Mamdani, running in the 2025 New York City mayoral race, addressed a crowd of Muslim New Yorkers outside a Bronx mosque on 24 October, recounting how his aunt avoided riding the subway after the 11 September 2001 attacks because she felt unsafe wearing her hijab. The remarks came amid a campaign marked by heightened racial and religious tension, as Mamdani and his opponents trade accusations over Islamophobia and public safety policies.
Mamdani said that in the years following 9/11, he saw what he described as “undercurrents of suspicion” toward Muslim residents of New York. Speaking in visibly emotional terms, he stated his aunt’s subway avoidance was emblematic of what he called enduring discrimination against Muslims. He used the anecdote to frame his broader message about representation, faith and civic participation.
The address occurred just days before early voting begins in one of America’s biggest mayoral contests. Mamdani, a state assemblyman, is the Democratic nominee. His opponents include former governor Andrew Cuomo (running as an independent) and Republican Curtis Sliwa. The campaign has already featured high-profile controversies, including allegations of Islamophobic rhetoric directed at Mamdani and his faith background.
JD Vance was among those who sharply criticised Mamdani’s framing, arguing that invoking a family member’s discomfort after 9/11 risks minimising the scale of the tragedy. Vance remarked that Mamdani’s comments made it seem “the real victim of 9/11 was his auntie who got some (allegedly) bad looks,” suggesting the anecdote shifts attention away from the thousands killed and the families still dealing with long-term trauma.
Similar responses on social media echoed this sentiment, contending that personal stories of discrimination should not appear to compete with the collective loss and sacrifice associated with 9/11.

Facebook boost sparks torrent of hate towards West Springfield mosque
By Joe Douglass
26-10-2025
Earlier this year, the Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts decided to “open up” its communications to the broader community by launching a Facebook page.
The move, according to Khurram Ovays, the secretary of the 42-year-old West Springfield mosque, was meant to “break that fortification” that arises in Muslim communities when faced with hostility from the broader society.
The group’s first dozen Facebook posts, which included images and flyers about upcoming events, saw little engagement until Oct. 8, when Ovays decided to try something new.
Ovays wanted to promote “Open Mosque Day,” an event the organization has held since 2017 with the goal of fostering cultural exchange and introducing neighbors to Islam and the mosque. He posted a flyer describing the Oct. 11 event and its agenda, featuring activities like an Islam 101 presentation, a Q&A session, a mosque tour, noon prayer, and food.

More than 60 UN members sign cybercrime treaty
Oct 26, 2025
Countries signed their first UN treaty targeting cybercrime in Hanoi on Saturday, despite opposition from an unlikely band of tech companies and rights groups warning of expanded state surveillance.
The new global legal framework aims to strengthen international cooperation to fight digital crimes, from child pornography to transnational cyberscams and money laundering. Over 60 countries were seen to sign the declaration Saturday, which means it will go into force once ratified by those states.
UN secretary general Antonio Guterres described the signing as an "important milestone", but that it was "only the beginning". "Every day, sophisticated scams, destroy families, steal migrants and drain billions of dollars from our economy... We need a strong, connected global response," he said at the opening ceremony in Vietnam's capital on Saturday.

‘Not wasting time’: Trump says no meeting with Putin until deal on Ukraine; admits he’s 'disappointed'
Oct 26, 2025
US President Donald Trump on Saturday acknowledged that a high-level summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin is unlikely in the near term, even as a senior Kremlin representative met with US officials in Florida to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, reported AFP.“I’m going to have to know that we’re going to make a deal. I’m not going to be wasting my time,” Trump told reporters aboard air force one as he travelled to Asia.
“I’ve always had a great relationship with Vladimir Putin, but this has been very disappointing. I thought this would have gotten done before peace in the Middle East,” he added.
Trump’s remarks came after plans for a summit in Budapest collapsed, with the president citing lack of sufficient progress in diplomacy. At the same time, Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev was engaged in talks with US officials, signalling that dialogue remains active. According to a Russian source familiar with the discussions, Dmitriev met on Friday and Saturday in Florida with the US special envoy Steve Witkoff.

Study finds Saudi Arabia’s eastern coastal ecosystems healthy
Arab News
October 26, 2025
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Wildlife has declared the environment on the Kingdom’s east coast to be generally healthy after the first comprehensive assessment.
In a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the wildlife center said the assessment, conducted throughout 2024 and 2025 at more than 400 sites, examined a wide range of critical marine and coastal environments, including coral reefs, seagrass meadows, mangrove forests, and mudflats.
In collaboration with international experts, the assessment used internationally recognized field methodologies, such as underwater imaging and satellite remote sensing, to create a detailed scientific database.
“Results showed that coral reefs had a healthy cover rate of 22 percent, with low levels of bleaching not exceeding 2 percent,” said the report, adding that the dominant species observed, such as Porites and Merulina, “demonstrated resilience to harsh environmental conditions.”

Lighting up Arab skies: Saudi innovator Reyam Alahmadi launches Astrophile to bring space science home
Waad Hussain
October 25, 2025
ALKHOBAR: Saudi science communicator Reyam Alahmadi is bringing the cosmos closer to home. At just 25, the Madinah-born innovator has launched Astrophile, the Kingdom’s first Arabic astronomy magazine, to make space science accessible, accurate, and part of everyday conversation across the Arab world.
“What began as a personal fascination with the cosmos evolved into a full-fledged movement to revive Arab contributions to astronomy, and to give today’s generation the tools and language to rediscover them,” she told Arab News.
“The Arab world truly needed something like Astrophile. There wasn’t a single comprehensive Arabic astronomy platform, which left a huge gap in accurate knowledge. That gap led to misconceptions about space, and that’s what we wanted to fix.”
When Astrophile launched, the magazine did not simply translate international astronomy news, but also reimagined how science could speak to readers across the Arab world.
Through storytelling, visual design, and educational offerings, Alahmadi built a brand that feels both modern and deeply cultural. Every article blends cosmic wonder with accessible language, transforming scientific terms into relatable concepts.
“I believe the wonder of space belongs to everyone,” she said. “So I share what I learn in the simplest way possible, not with overwhelming numbers or formulas, but through storytelling and curiosity. My goal is to make readers feel the beauty of the universe, not the heaviness of its equations.”
In a region where complex STEM subjects often feel distant, Alahmadi’s approach bridges the emotional and intellectual, transforming astronomy into a shared cultural experience.
For Alahmadi, Astrophile is more than a publication, it is a revival. She sees it as part of a wider effort to reclaim the Arab world’s historic leadership in astronomy, from scholars who once mapped the stars to modern-day dreamers shaping the space economy.

Israeli ministers debate shooting Gaza children near 'yellow line'
25 October, 2025
Israeli ministers, including far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, made shocking remarks during a cabinet meeting in Tel Aviv, suggesting that soldiers should shoot "children and donkeys" approaching Gaza's so-called "yellow line".
According to reports by Israel's Kan 11 and the Israel Broadcasting Authority, the exchange took place during a meeting of the security cabinet, where the army's deputy chief of staff briefed ministers on engagement protocols for Palestinians nearing the line - an invisible boundary separating Israeli forces from populated areas of the Gaza Strip under a US-brokered ceasefire plan.
The military official said that soldiers were instructed to open fire on adults who crossed the line, but to arrest children if they were found near it.
In response, Ben-Gvir questioned why troops did not "shoot a child riding a donkey", insisting that Israel "must stop being merciful".

Afghanistan, Pakistan to shore up truce at security talks
Timothy Jones
26-10-2025
Negotiating teams from Afghanistan and Pakistan are to meet in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday in a bid to bolster a ceasefire along their shared border, where there have been several clashes over the past two weeks in which dozens have died.
The confrontations started after explosions in the Afghan capital, Kabul, which Afghanistan's Taliban rulers blamed on Pakistan and responded to with cross-border attacks, prompting Islamabad to respond with "precision strikes" against armed groups in Afghanistan.
In televised remarks on Saturday, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that while he believed Afghanistan wanted peace, failure to reach agreement at the Istanbul talks would lead to a war.

Nigerian military kills over 50 Boko Haram militants as jihadists continue attacks on bases, farmers
by: Hayden Cunningham
10/25/2025
The Nigerian military says it has killed more than 50 Boko Haram militants following a series of drone attacks on military bases in the northeastern states of Borno and Yobe.
A military spokesperson said on Thursday that militants launched coordinated assaults on several bases, but a combination of ground and air operations allowed the army to counter the attackers. The spokesperson added that ground troops have been pursuing more than 70 wounded militants “in close coordination,” according to the Associated Press.
Boko Haram, a jihadist group seeking to impose radical Islamic law in Nigeria, has continued its insurgency despite military pressure. At least 60 people were killed last month by Boko Haram militants in a nighttime attack in a northeastern village.
The group began its armed campaign in 2009 and later split into two factions after the 2021 death of its leader, Abubakar Shekau. One of those factions, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), maintains ties to the Islamic State group and frequently targets Nigerian military positions.

Nigeria’s removal from FATF grey list marks boost for financial credibility – CBN
by Ayodeji Adegboyega
October 26, 2025
Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list marks a significant milestone in restoring confidence in the country’s financial system, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said on Saturday, after the global watchdog acknowledged reforms that strengthened regulation, transparency, and enforcement across the financial sector.
In a statement signed by its Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Hakama Ali, the CBN said the FATF’s decision followed an extensive review of Nigeria’s reform efforts to improve compliance with international anti-financial crime standards.
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), at its October 2025 plenary in Paris, officially removed Nigeria from its list of countries under increased monitoring after the country successfully implemented a 19-point action plan to strengthen its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing framework.
Nigeria had been placed on the grey list in February 2023, when the FATF identified strategic weaknesses in its systems for combating financial crimes.
The FATF, which sets global standards for combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing, announced Nigeria’s exit following a successful on-site evaluation of the country’s anti-financial crime framework.
The decision means Nigeria is no longer among jurisdictions under “increased monitoring”, a category that had placed it under extra scrutiny by international partners and investors.

Tell Nigerians Real Reason For Service Chiefs’ Sack, ADC Challenges Tinubu
By Emmanuel Egobiambu
October 25, 2025
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has questioned President Bola Tinubu’s sack of service chiefs, asking the Nigerian leader to tell citizens the real reason for the action.
ADC, one of Nigeria’s opposition party, admitted that while President Tinubu has the power to take the decision, the move is “suddden” especially following reports of an alleged coup in the country.
“Our position remains therefore that the Federal Government owes Nigerians a categorical explanation about what truly happened,” the ADC wrote in a statement by its spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi.
“As an opposition political party, our interest remains the stability of our country and our democracy. In the light of developments in our neighbourhood of Chad and the Sahel States, we are gravely concerned.”

Pakistan’s Naval Chief Visits 'Disputed Creek Areas' Along Border With India
By:Manoj Gupta
October 25, 2025
Pakistan’s Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, has undertaken a highly significant visit to Pakistan’s forward posts in the disputed Creek Areas along the maritime boundary with India, a move designed to assert Pakistan’s operational preparedness and unwavering stance on the contentious Sir Creek issue. The Admiral’s aggressive rhetoric, vowing to defend “every inch of our maritime frontiers from Sir Creek to Jiwani", highlights the increasing strategic focus on this sensitive coastal zone.
The visit was marked by a substantial upgrade to the Pakistan Navy’s operational capability in the complex littoral environment. Admiral Ashraf officially inducted three state-of-the-art 2400 TD Hovercraft into the Pak Marines. These new platforms represent a crucial modernisation step, offering a unique operational advantage. The hovercraft are specifically designed to navigate a variety of challenging terrains simultaneously, including shallow waters, sand dunes, and the marshy, boggy littoral zones that characterise the Creek Areas—environments where conventional craft are rendered ineffective.
Addressing officers and men during the inspection, Admiral Ashraf articulated a clear strategic vision. He underscored that the induction of these amphibious vessels symbolises the Pakistan Navy’s “unwavering resolve in bolstering defence of the country’s maritime frontiers, coastal belt, particularly Creeks Area".
