students at a Shivamogga government school to “go to Pakistan” has been
transferred. The Karnataka Department of School Education and Literacy has
launched a departmental inquiry against the woman who has denied the
allegations.
The teacher, identified as Manjula Devi, allegedly
told the two Class 5 students at the Tipu Nagar School, “This is not your
country; this is the country of Hindus. You should go to Pakistan. You are our
slaves forever.”
A. Nazrullah, the president of Janata Dal (Secular)
minority wing in Shivamogga, who lodged a complaint with Shivamogga Deputy
Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), told Hindustan Times, “We were shocked
after the children told us about the incident.”
Shivamogga DDPI Parameshwarappa C.R. Told The Indian
Express, “We received the complaint on Thursday. Action was initiated against
the teacher based on a preliminary inquiry by the block education officer.”

Religious centres and educational institutions are
assuming a new role in Kashmir by doubling up as counselling and testing
centres to curb the fast-spreading menace of drugs. These rare interventions
come as the Valley is battling a drug addiction crisis; over 10 lakh people
were officially designated drug addicts by the Jammu and Kashmir administration
this year.
Otherwise restricted for the clergy, the pulpit at
MagamImambara in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, where Shia Muslims organise large
religious congregations, recently saw Muzaffar Khan, a clinical psychologist
who heads the Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Srinagar, reach
out to people to join the fight against drugs.

Palestinians Not to Allow Israeli Desecration of
Al-Aqsa Mosque’s Sanctity: Hamas
Photo: Tasnim News Agency
-----
September, 02, 2023
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Hamas resistance movement
underlined that the Palestinian nation will not allow Israel to desecrate the
sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the holy city of al-Quds.
The resistance group warned against any incursions by
illegal Israeli settlers and the regime's troops against the al-Aqsa Mosque's
compound.
“The Palestinian nation will not allow the Zionist
enemy to violate the al-Aqsa Mosque ('s sanctity)," Hamas spokesman Hazem
Qassem told a rally held in support of the mosque in western Gaza on Friday.
"Any encroachment on and invasion of the al-Aqsa
Mosque during the (upcoming) Jewish holidays is tantamount to opening the door
to an all-out war on all fronts," Qassem said.
According to an agreement signed between Israel and
the Jordanian government in the wake of Tel Aviv’s occupation of East al-Quds
in 1967, non-Muslim worship at the compound, which is Islam's third-holiest
site, is prohibited.
Qassem said Israeli troops and illegal settlers would
have no security as long as the regime keeps up its aggression and illegal
construction activities upon the Palestinian land.
He said no one was capable of stopping Palestinians'
resistance operations in the occupied West Bank, which have witnessed a surge
in retaliation against the regime's incessant and regularly deadly violations
against Palestinians.
The remarks came a day after the latest of the operations
that took place in the West Bank city of Ramallah, killing an Israeli soldier
and wounding several others.
And a day earlier, Palestinian resistance fighters set
off an explosive device in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, injuring four
Israeli forces.

Stop Harassing Isese Adherents, Soyinka Urges Muslims
Prof. Wole Soyinka
-----
2nd September 2023
Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has said
nothing will diminish the Isese tradition, adding that it has come to stay.
Isese Day, which was celebrated in states in the
South-West, had been a subject of controversy, especially in Ilorin, Kwara
State, where an Osun priestess, Yeye Ajesikemi Olatunji, who had planned to
celebrate the day on August 20, was verbally attacked and asked by the Emir of
Ilorin, Ibrahim Kolapo Gambari Dan, and other Muslim adherents not to
commemorate the day.
The Emir’s spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, in a
statement, noted that there had never been a time in history when what he
described as “idolatry activities” were carried out in the Ilorin Emirate.
Recall that a popular Ilorin Isese devotee and
activist Adegbola Abdulazeez, also known as Talolorun (Who is God), who was at
the forefront of the fight for Isese recognition in the state, was arrested and
detained for alleged defamation.
But, speaking during his presentation, the Professor
of English Literature, spoke against Talolorun’s detention, adding that nobody
deserved to be detained and put in a dungeon for issues bordering around
belief.
“It transcends religion since it calls to what is
innate to all sentient beings, those strange advocates of freedom who,
paradoxically, nonetheless persist in fashioning chains for themselves and for
their fellow beings.
“Isese liberates. It is an expression of the
collective human spirit, its enveloping, compassionate accommodation of human
experience, yet one that strives towards the seemingly inaccessible,
intuitively felt as an elevating dimension of one’s material estate.
“Isese is a path, not a destination, a seizure yet a
pursuit of what we experience as the inner quest for ultimate illumination.
Isese does not conclude, and neither does it exclude. It does not diminish,
rather, it enlarges. It teaches the community to embrace, explore, and adjust.
“Isese promotes, as foundational consciousness,
gratitude for, and sanctity of human life. It repudiates the supremacist claim
of any structure of spirituality over another. Content with the pursuit of
inner serenity, which is the climax of, and extraction from celebration, Isese
does not seek to exercise power. All true religions know that celebration is a
prelude to community equilibrium,” he said.
He stressed that there was never a time when he said
he displayed hate for any religion, adding that he stands only for equity,
fairness and justice.

unity govt components committed to defend positions of Islam and Malays
By ShathanaKasinathan
03 Sep 2023
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 — DAP Secretary-General Anthony
Loke has reportedly downplayed calls for DAP to amend its party constitution to
remove parts referring to secularism and a “Malaysian Malaysia”.
In a report by the English daily The Star, Loke

“DAP has never asked any party to amend its

important is that when we formed the unity government, we agreed to work
together in maintaining several key parameters,” he was quoted as saying.
Loke also reiterated that BarisanNasional (BN)
Chairman and Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi himself has
previously acknowledged and accepted DAP’s stance before bringing BN into the

Saudi Energy Exhibit celebrates 60 years of ‘making
facts fun’
JASMINE BAGER
September 02, 2023
DHAHRAN: The Energy Exhibit, formerly the Oil Exhibit,
celebrates its 60th anniversary this year as one of the Kingdom’s premier
attractions, a space dedicated to making “facts fun” — and all without asking
visitors to pay a penny to enter.
For the past six decades, the exhibit has showcased
the knowledge and techniques behind the extraction of oil and related energy
resources in Saudi Arabia, attracting thousands of visitors, ranging from young
students to world leaders, every year.
At its headquarters, located on top of the Dammam
field where oil was discovered in the Kingdom in 1938, the exhibit offers 40
programs throughout the year — a perfect juxtaposition of the old and the new.
Fuad Al-Therman, a senior manager with Saudi Aramco
and former director of King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, told Arab News
that in the early years of the project, the visit for many students was a
“transformative moment in their lives and the inspiration for what to pursue in
the future.”

Ramaswamy says his differences with Trump ‘very small’
Sep 3, 2023
WASHINGTON: Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy has acknowledged
that there were some “very small” differences between him and former US
president Donald Trump but they were “deeply aligned” on policy issues,
“90-plus per cent of the way” as the two fight it out for the Republican
Party’s presidential nomination in 2024.
Speaking to Fox News on Friday about his policy
differences with Trump, his fellow Republican rival in the race for the party’s
nomination next year, Ramaswamy, a multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur, said
he and Trump were “the two Americafirst’ candidates” in the race.
“I think we have an opportunity to reunite this
country around our shared ideals, and that will allow me to take the America
First agenda even further than Trump did, by building on what I think is a very
good foundation that he laid,” The Hill newspaper quoted Ramaswamy as saying on
Fox News.

morning that the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) home department had released a statement
clarifying that the situation in the region was “completely peaceful”.
