“They Deserve To Die”: Executive Director Of Hindu Conference Of Canada Openly Demanding Killing Of Muslims And Sikhs In India

Hindu Supremacist leader Ron Banerjee,

----

by Veena Nair

25th June 2022

In an interview with a YouTube channel Beat of the North, the Executive Director of the Hindu Conference of Canada, a Hindu supremacist, openly called for genocide of Muslims and Sikhs in India. He was speaking on the episode of “Will you vote for Justin Trudeau?”

“Hinduism is the way, I am hardcore Hindu nationalist. I would have Modi ruling India as well as this country (Canada). He kills Muslims and Sikh terrorists. It is awesome what Modi is doing,” Banerjee told the channel.

Banerjee said he had zero tolerance for radical Islam and radical Khalistani Sikhs or any of these ideologies. However, when the show’s host tried to explain that not all Muslims and Sikhs are radical, Banerjee said, “Muslims need to understand that if they’re gonna need to live in our country, they got to follow our rules and if they don’t, they will get it. They will get it.”

He further went on to say that he would want Narendra Modi to rule Canada. “I would like the Modi government to rule in this country as well as India. He kills Muslim terrorists, he kills Sikh terrorists, he is awesome. What Modi is doing,” Banerjee said.

This is not the first time Ron Banerjee has been seen making Islamophobic comments and encouraging the killings of Muslims and Sikhs. In April this year, he was arrested in Toronto for making violent threats made against Sikhs.

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has conferred on Pakistan’s chief of army staff the Order of King Abdulaziz, an order of merit named after the Kingdom's founder, state media said on Sunday.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, implementing King Salman's order, decorated Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, "in appreciation of Gen. Bajwa’s distinguished efforts in strengthening and developing Saudi-Pakistani relations," SPA reported.

The crown prince and the Pakistani military chief also met and "reviewed bilateral relations, especially in the military fields, and opportunities for developing them, in addition to a number of issues of common interest," SPA said.

The occasion was attended by Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi deputy minister of defense; Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili; and a number of senior officials from the two sides, said the report.

Turkish Court Closes Khashoggi Murder Case Ahead Of Saudi Crown Prince Visit

Photo: en.abna.com

----

June 26, 2022

A Turkish court has closed the case into the murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi days before Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to the country, citing a set of legal reasons.

The Middle East Eye reported on Friday that Istanbul's 11th Heavy Penal Court closed the case on June 17, saying Saudi judicial authorities had already tried many of the suspects in the kingdom, making the Turkish trial unnecessary.

The Istanbul court noted that Riyadh Criminal Court's First Joint Chamber has said 10 of the 26 suspects had received sentences of up to 20 years in prison, adding that after inspecting the Turkish court dossier on the killing, it has decided that there was no fresh evidence to suggest the 11 remaining suspects should be retried.

The Riyadh court also said the authorities could not establish any connection between the murder and the remaining four suspects who were also part of the joint Turkish-Saudi team to investigate the murder.

The Istanbul court said it did not have the means and evidence to continue the trial under such circumstances since it could not listen to the testimony of the suspects.

It added that international legal principles and precedents suggest it should drop the case, since it doesn't have sufficient probable cause to continue against the remaining suspects - who have not been found guilty in Saudi courts.

The latest development comes as Saudi crown prince Bin Salman, who is commonly referred to by his initials MBS, arrived in Ankara on Wednesday for the first time in years, where he is slated to hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ties between Ankara and Riyadh took a nosedive after Khashoggi was killed and dismembered inside Saudi Arabia’s consulate in the Turkish city of Istanbul in October 2018.

Saudi Arabia initially issued conflicting stories about Khashoggi’s disappearance, but eventually claimed that the Washington Post columnist had been killed in a “rogue” operation.

At the time, Turkish officials released an audio recording of Khashoggi’s killing that they said contained evidence that Khashoggi had been assassinated on the orders of bin Salman.

As relations with Turkey frayed, Saudi Arabia launched an unofficial embargo on Turkish exports, dramatically curbing around $5 billion in bilateral trade.

Turkey's rapprochement with the Saudis began with an Istanbul court decision in April to break off the trial in absentia of more than two dozen suspects accused of links to Khashoggi's killing and to transfer the case to Riyadh.

The court's decision drew strong protests from activists around the globe. But it paved the way for a visit to Saudi Arabia by Erdogan three weeks later, when he hugged the crown prince.

Erdogan’s unconventional economic approach has set off an inflationary spiral that has seen consumer prices almost double in the past year. But his administration is now drumming up investment and central bank assistance from the very countries it opposed.

Turks' living standards are imploding one year before a general election that poses one of the biggest challenges to Erdogan's mercurial two-decade rule.

Turkey faces its worst economic crisis in two decades and is trying to draw investments from wealthy Arab states of the Persian Gulf region. It has also taken steps to improve relations with the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and the Israeli regime.

UK's Anti-Terrorism Strategy, Dubbed Prevent,  Has 'Negative Effect' On Muslim Communities

Since becoming law in 2011, the strategy has been criticised by rights groups for the challenge that it is believed to pose to the justice system's foundations. (AA)

-----

26-06-2022

The UK's anti-terrorism strategy, dubbed Prevent, is facing criticism from a UN special rapporteur for "targeting Muslim communities" ahead of a controversial independent review.

Fionnuala Ni Aolain, the UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights while countering terrorism, said the strategy has had a "negative and discriminatory effect on Muslim communities" and its implementation is "inconsistent" with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

While the effect of the initiative "has not been felt equally by all children," Ni Aolain said, "minority ethnic or religious communities" were impacted in particular.

She said the UN "has a number of concerns about the Prevent strategy" and that she addressed these kinds of government strategies used by the UK and other countries with the organisation's Human Rights Council.

Since becoming law in 2011, the strategy has been criticised by equality and rights groups for the challenge that it is believed to pose to liberties and the justice system's foundations.

There have been regular calls for the strategy's removal due to its discriminatory nature against Muslims and because the UK government has failed to provide any evidence that it prevents terrorism.

"In fact, we know of at least 13 people who have gone on to commit terrorist attacks and they were known to Prevent prior to their attacks and Prevent did not stop them," said Layla Aitlhadj, the director of Prevent Watch, a campaign group that supports people affected by the strategy.

Neglected Since Partition & Turned Into A Cattle Shed, Pak Orders Restoration Of Gurudwara Where Nanak Visited

by Divya Goyal

June 26, 2022

Built at the site where Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev had once visited, and abandoned in 1947 after the migration of the Sikh population during the Partition, the Pakistan government has finally ordered the preservation and restoration of the historical Gurdwara Pehli Patshahi Nanaksar, at Fateh Bhinder village, Daska district of Sialkot in Punjab province.

The gurdwara building, with crumbling yet magnificent architecture, was one of the many such Sikh shrines in Pakistan that required immediate attention. In the past few months, some illegal occupants had even turned the abandoned building of Gurdwara Nanaksar into a cattle shed and started tying their animals in the premises. Several cracks had appeared in the building’s structure, considered an important part of Sikh history and heritage across the border, but no action had been taken by the Pakistan government.

With fears and doubts, Sindh heads to polls in 14 districts

Imran Ayub

June 26, 2022

KARACHI: With serious reservations of opposition parties and fears of violence, which are further deepened after a bomb attack in Jacobabad killed one person and left around 10 injured, Sindh goes to local bodies’ elections in 14 districts of four divisions under first phase of the electoral process where more than 11 million voters will choose their representatives for the municipal system of their towns and villages after more than six years.

After remaining under doubts for many weeks due to efforts of major political parties to delay the process on different grounds, the local bodies (LB) polls in Sindh are finally taking place after the Sindh High Court on Friday dismissed the petitions of major opposition parties seeking postponement of local government elections in four of the six divisions of the province.
