Taliban Labels Islamic State Affiliate ISIS-K A
Corrupt "Sect"
Photo: New Lines Institute

By Sahar Akbarzai
03-07-2022
(CNN)The Taliban has declared the Islamic State
affiliate ISIS-K a corrupt "sect" and forbidden Afghans from contact
with it.
"We call out to the nation that the seditious
phenomenon called ISIS-K is void of today's age and a false sect that spreads
corruption in our Islamic country. It is forbidden to have any kind of help or
relationship with them," the Taliban said in a resolution on Saturday.
The resolution follows a three-day conference of
religious leaders and elders in Kabul, according to Afghanistan's state-run
news agency, Bakthar.
ISIS-K (the k stands for Khorasan, the name of a
historical region that covered parts of modern Afghanistan and Pakisan) has been
operating in Afghanistan for the last few years.
It has carried out numerous attacks on Afghan
civilians and is thought to be responsible for thousands of deaths since its
2015 formation.
The Taliban's resolution said that Afghanistan follows
an Islamic system of rule and that "armed opposition to this system is
considered rebellion and corruption."
It added that "any kind of opposition to this
Islamic ruling system, which is in conflict with Islamic Sharia and national
interests, is corruption and illegal action."
The connection between ISIS-K and its apparent parent
group Islamic State is not entirely clear; the affiliates share an ideology and
tactics, but the depth of their relationship with regards to organization and
command and control has never been entirely established.
US intelligence officials previously told CNN that the
ISIS-K membership includes "a small number of veteran jihadists from Syria
and other foreign terrorist fighters," saying that the US had identified
10 to 15 of their top operatives in Afghanistan.
Its earliest members included Pakistani militants who
emerged in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province around a decade ago, many of whom
had fled Pakistan and defected from other terror groups, according to the
Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
In its resolution on Saturday, the Taliban also
pledged allegiance to Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada, the group's reclusive
supreme leader, whom it referred to as the "leader of the people".

Love Is Halal: German Mosque Unfurled A Rainbow Flag
To Mark Pride Celebrations
Image: Twitter
----
Destiny Rogers
3 JULY 2022
A Berlin mosque yesterday unfurled a rainbow flag to
mark Pride celebrations in Germany. Berlin’s culture minister and other
dignitaries attended the ceremony at the start of Germany’s Pride month. Many
worshippers at the Ibn Rushd-Goethe mosque also wore stickers saying ‘Love is
Halal’.
The ceremony occurred just a week after a radicalised
Islamist shot two people dead at an Oslo gay bar hours before the local Pride
Parade.
Mo el-Ketab, an imam at the Ibn Rushd-Goethe mosque,
described his mosque as a safe place.
“For people who are different, so they too can
experience the spiritual side of their lives.
“I hope that many other mosques will also show the
flag in this way or set other positive signs for the LGBT community.”
With Germany’s main pride events taking place in July,
the flag will fly until the end of the month.
Marc-Eric Lehmann from Berlin’s Christopher Street Day
committee said the flag sent an incredibly strong sign.
“Queer people can also be religious and believe in
God. We should not just be talking about safe spaces in bars and clubs in
Berlin, we also have to talk about safe spaces in the places of worship.”
Founded five years ago, the Ibn Rushd-Goethe mosque
describes itself as Germany’s only liberal mosque. It invites men and women to
pray together and welcomes LGBTQIA+ worshippers.
A statement from the Ibn Rushd-Goethe imams said they
chose to fly the flag as an important signal to LGBTQIA+ people of the Muslim
faith.
“They do not have to choose between their faith and
their sexual identity, but are accepted as such, as they are.”

Military Given Go-Ahead For TTP Talks By A
Parliamentary Committee: Interior Minister
Interior Minister Rana
Sanaullah — DawnNewsTV
-----
Iftikhar A. Khan
July 3, 2022
ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary committee has authorised
the military leadership to hold talks with the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban
Pakistan (TTP), Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference, he said the military
leadership would inform the committee about any progress in the talks and the
matter would then be debated in parliament.
The minister said that talks would be held only under the
Constitution of Pakistan, adding that neither anything over and above the
Constitution would be negotiated nor would any such agreement be reached.
On June 22, the military had reassured the political
leadership that no extra-constitutional concessions would be given to the
banned TTP in the ongoing dialogue and any deal made with the terrorist group
would be subject to parliamentary approval.
This was the first meeting between the national
political leadership and the military, which has been negotiating with the TTP
in Afghanistan with the help of the Afghan Taliban. The meeting was arranged
after Pakistan Peoples Party, a major partner in the ruling coalition, lodged a
protest for not being taken on board about the talks.
Days after Imran Khan’s disclosure, his interior
minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed surprised many by saying that he was unaware of
any such dialogue.
Rana Sanaullah recalled how former prime minister
Nawaz Sharif had invited the political leadership, including Imran Khan, to PM
House for devising a consensus strategy to tackle the issue after the Army
Public School Peshawar attack in 2014.
A senator from Jamaat-i-Islami, Mushtaq Ahmed had also
recently raised the issue of keeping talks with TTP secret from the parliament.
At the time, Senator Irfanul Haq Siddiqui had said these talks had not been
initiated during the term of the present government.
“We were also unaware who is holding these talks and
where they are taking place. Things became clear at a recent meeting at Prime
Minister’s House,” he had said.
Earlier, speaking at a ceremony at Police Lines, the
interior minister said that the loan agreement signed by the PTI government
with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was ill-negotiated and not
implemented in letter and spirit by the previous regime. He said the country
had such an ailing economy that IMF has kept Pakistan on toes only to get $1
billion. “We tried our best and presented every argument that we should not
increase prices of fuel but to no avail.”
He said the ruling party had thought about dissolving
the assemblies to get fresh mandate but the country could have faced threat of
default if it was handed over to caretaker set-up.

Pandit Mustafa Arif Regrets His ‘Ishwar Prerna’
Inspired By The Holy Quran Did Not Reach The Two Misguided Men Before They
Beheaded A Tailor In Udaipur
Pandit Mustafa Arif takes
the universal message of God to the masses
----
Jul 3, 2022
Pandit Mustafa Arif regrets his 'labour of love'
Ishwar Prerna or God's Inspiration, a work consisting of 10,000 verses in 18
volumes, never reached the two misguided men before they beheaded a tailor in
Udaipur. Had they given even a cursory glance at this 'magnum opus' in Hindi
inspired by the holy Quran, claims Pandit Arif, they could have changed their
mind and not perpetrated the heinous crime.
Working tirelessly for nine years, Pandit Arif, 72,
has penned these verses in simple Hindi which upholds God's universal message
of love, compassion and enshrined in the Quran. He has written it in the format
of hamd or God's praise.
"The duo who brutally killed the tailor had
either not heard of the Quranic verse which talks about God's dislike for those
who create turmoil on the earth or deliberately didn't heed it. I am aghast
that this barbarity was committed in the name of the Prophet who preferred
peace to violence, forgiveness to revenge," he says. He conveys this
Quranic message, quoting a line from his collection: "Fasad Zameen Par Na
Faillao Yehi Hukm-E-Ilahi Hai/Apas Mein Jud Jane Mein Hi Ab Sabki Bhalaee Hai
(God doesn't allow trouble on earth/The salvation is in peaceful
co-existence)."
A former member of Ujjain (MP)-based Mahakaleshwar
Mandir's administrative committee, it was in Ujjain in 1992 that the All-India
Brahman Samaj conferred the title of a Pandit on Arif. Acknowledging his
commitment to Hindu-Muslim unity, his devotion to understand and his respect
for Hinduism, he received the Mahakal Samman in 2004 at Talkatora auditorium in
Delhi.
This Ratlam-born Dawoodi Bohra Muslim began his career
as a Hindi journalist in the 1970s in MP, moved to Delhi in 2001 when Vajpayee
was Prime Minister, and is now settled in Mumbai. He edited government-run
quarterly magazine Sadhvana Sandesh and even wrote panegyric poems for
Vajpayee.

The aristocrat who converted to Islam and inspired a pilgrimage

Lady Evelyn Cobbold is believed to have been the first
British woman to make the pilgrimage to Mecca, with the noblewoman undertaking
the Hajj in 1933 aged 65, later documenting her travels in a book.
Now, the journey to her final resting place on her
former estate in Glencarron recently became a spiritual undertaking for a group
of Muslim converts, many who travelled from England to make the six-hour return
journey on foot in classic Highland wind and rain. A call to prayer was made on
the hillside, and prayers said close to Lady Evelyn’s grave.

accomplished the mission that Hezbollah intended. This is a propaganda
statement and appeared on Al-Mayadeen media, widely considered to be pro-Iranian.
Iranian media has also examined how the drone threat
could lead to a naval conflict with Israel. In the report, Hezbollah openly
says that it sought to launch drones in the direction of the Karish gas
platform.
