Hagia Sophia Mosque In Ainu-Edirne: Turkey Turns
Another Church Into A Mosque On Christmas Eve
This time in the conversion
was made in the town of Ainos/Enez of Adrianopolis/Edirne
-----
26-12-2021
Edirne is in eastern Thrace, where, according to
genocide scholars, the Greek genocide commenced in 1913 prior to the First
World War
Turkey turned on Christmas Eve the Church of Hagia
Sophia in Ainos (Enez), in Adrianoupoli (Edirne) into a Mosque (Mosque-i
Sharif) after the completion of its restoration by the General Directorate of
Institutions.
The church of Agia Sophia of Ainos (Enez) is a
Byzantine building of the 12th century and it was changed into the Mosque of
Conquest in 1456 by Mehmed the Conqueror and now opens again with the former
name.
“After last year’s inauguration of the Hagia Sophia
mosque in Istanbul (sic), we are meeting here again today, for the inauguration
of the Hagia Sophia mosque in Ainu-Edirne”, said Turkish President of Religious
Affairs Ali Erbas.
The historic Christian church was not used due to
damage from an earthquake. It was restored 56 years later and opened for the
(Muslim) Friday prayer by Ali Erbas.
“A few months ago, we visited the Balkan countries.
Where our eyes see a minaret, our hearts begin to flutter. Wherever we see a
mosque or minaret, we are happy. We are now reopening the Hagia Sophia mosque
in Edirne for worship. May Almighty Allah bless it. What a beautiful unity and
solidarity we have that we are all here as institutions”.

Mark Christmas With Prayers For Youths, Muslim Body Urges Christians
MURIC has called on
Christians in the country to pray for youth
-----
25-12-2021
As Nigerian Christians celebrate Christmas with
millions of others worldwide, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has urged
Christians in the country to pray for Nigerian youths for divine guidance.
“We appeal to Christian clerics and church goers to
spend the yuletide period in reflecting about widespread moral decadence among
Nigerian youth and to pray fervently for their redemption.
“They are on the fast lane of material pursuit and
they are prepared to do anything to get the good things of life without working
for them.
“They have little regard for the sacredness of human
life. Drug is the apple of their eyes. Clubbing is their major preoccupation,”
Akintola said.
He said that while it is true that some Nigerians look
unto the youth as leaders of tomorrow, a large majority are pessimistic over
the youth of today, as they see no hope in them.
“They must confess to Him that they have failed as
parents. They can then seek His divine guidance and go back to instil family
values and norms in their children and wards.”
He also urged parents to turn to God on behalf of
their children, charging them to spend a substantial time of this yuletide and
thereafter to monitor, guide and admonish them at all times.
Prof. Akintola said, “They must pray for them
particularly during this period. Pray that God reforms them. Pray that God
intervenes in their lives.
“Pray that they see value in honesty and dignity of
labour. Pray that God changes them into youths that are useful for their
society and their country.”

Religious Scholars of Jammu and Kashmir Condemn
Persecution Of Shia Muslims In Islamic Countries, especially Pakistan and
Afghanistan
Religious scholars condemn
persecution of Shia, Hazara minorities in Islamic countries
----
December 26, 2021
Religious scholars in Jammu and Kashmir of India have
raised concerns about the persecution of Shia and Hazara minorities in the
Islamic nations, especially Pakistan and Afghanistan.
On Friday, JK People's Justice Front (JKPJF) organized
a seminar titled "Why is Muslim world bleeding and Shia Rights" in
Jammu city to observe International Human Rights Day.
The seminar highlighted the world scenario about
minorities like Shia, Yazdi and Hazara communities who are victims of
atrocities and are prosecuted for frivolous matters all across the world
including Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as well.
Rizvi said that there is no need to take a tough
stance against the growing traits of extremist ideology amongst the youth of
the Muslim world.
"We need to stop the flow of Petro Dollars, which
is fueling the extremist ideologies like ISIS, Daesh, and Taliban who are the
root cause of all extremist thoughts and activities and Shia community and at
large are soft targets of them in Muslim State of Afghanistan and
Pakistan," he said.
"The terrorism happening in the Muslim world and
especially the targeting of Hazara and other minority communities across the
world is increasing at an alarming rate", he added.
Further addressing the seminar, Rizvi said:
"Afghan Taliban is not only massacring Hazaras but is also displacing them
from their lands, they have been living upon for ages. There is a need for
collective efforts to tackle this issue. The cause for the rise of extremist
ideology is that we have moved far away from Sunnah".
Agha Syed Abbas Rizvi mentioned in a report published
in New York Times in early October 2021, the Taliban and associated militias
forcibly evicted hundreds of Hazara families from the southern Helmand province
and the northern Balkh province. These followed earlier evictions from
Daikundi, Uruzgan and Kandahar provinces.
Since the Taliban came to power in August, the Taliban
have told many Hazaras and other residents in these five provinces to leave
their homes and farms, in many cases with only a few days' notice and without
any opportunity to present their legal claims of the land.
A former United Nations political analyst said that he
saw eviction notices telling residents that if they did not comply, they
"had no right to complain about the consequences".
Agha Syed also mentioned how Shia Hazaras are
ethnically cleansed in Pakistan's Quetta and Karachi. He also mentioned Gilgit
Baltistan where Shias have no freedom to carry out their religious activities
and other rituals.
The seminar was attended by scholars of other sects
too like it included Sunni Scholars Molana Javed Quadri Sufi, Moulana Zaheer
Quadri, Moulana Haji Basher Ahmad and Hindu social activist Munshi Ram and Devi
Dutt.
Munshi Ram while speaking at the event said that the
Taliban is a terrorist organization prosecuting the minorities in Afghanistan
and violating their human rights.
It was pledged at the end of the seminar that if there
is human rights violation anywhere in the world in any form we will stand with
victims.
Syed Abbas Rizvi also urged upon the UT Administration
to accede to the request of Shia community for grant of reservation, like as
given to Gujars and Bakarwals in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jewish, Muslim Volunteers Deliver Gifts To Kids In Southwest
Detroit On Christmas Day
Detroit News/ Mitzvah Day
volunteers give back at annual Christmas Day event
------
Nushrat Rahman
On Christmas Day, Santa delivered gifts to kids in
southwest Detroit.
Decked out in red, with a bag of presents in tow, he
greeted families Saturday morning with a cheery "Merry Christmas."
"We hope to put a smile on your faces and make
you feel loved a little bit," he told Mandy Gutierrez and her family as
they huddled around their door.
Santa — played byRay Hillenbrand, 60, of Rochester
Hills — was part of a caravan of about 100 volunteers who took toys —
basketballs, board games and stuffed animals — to about 250 families across
southwest Detroit.
It's a 20-year tradition, said Jimmy Tuman, founder
and executive director of Jimmy's Kids, the nonprofit behind the Christmas Day
giving.
"People who come here — Christians, Jews and
Muslims — all come together, support each other, watch out for each other, take
care of each other. It really is a little bit of world peace in southwest
Detroit," said Tuman, 80 of Royal Oak.
In the parking lot of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in
Detroit, bags of gifts were loaded into cars and on their way to families
"who don't know we're coming," Tuman said.
Ray Hillenbrand, 60, of Rochester Hills puts on his
best Santa suit before handing out toys to unsuspecting families in Southwest
Detroit as part of Jimmy's Kids toy giveaway, a Mitzvah Day event, where
volunteers of various faiths come together to help Detroit area nonprofits on
Christmas Day. I
Howard Lazar has been volunteering with Jimmy's Kids
for 11 years. It's a reminder of the Hebrew phrase "Tikun Olam," or
repairing the world, he said.
"I feel lucky to give back. I feel lucky to be
able to do something that's outside of myself," said Lazar, 54, of
Farmington Hills, who also brought his four kids to volunteer.
"One of the other things that we recognize is
lacking in the public discourse today is some empathy and that's the result of
not being able to spend time with people that don't look like you, or pray like
you, so this is really an exercise in some interfaith work and also an exercise
in empathy," said Haidri, 21 of Canton.
The gift deliveries were part of Mitzvah Day, where
volunteers of various faiths come together to help metro Detroit nonprofits on
Christmas Day. In its 25th year, Mitzvah Day this time around is really Mitzvah
weekend, running from Dec. 24-26 to expand the outreach and offer alternatives
to Jewish volunteers who observe the Sabbath.
Historically, Mitzvah Day is the single largest day of
volunteering by Detroit's Jewish community, according to the Jewish Community
Relations Council/American Jewish Committee.
The idea is to lend a hand to nonprofits during the
holiday. Volunteer efforts span about 30 organizations across metro Detroit,
from before the weekend to Christmas Day itself, said Asher Lopatin, executive
director of the Jewish Community Relations Council/American Jewish Committee,
on Thursday.
Trinity Lutheran Church needed volunteers to serve
breakfast and prepare lunch on Saturday. Western Oakland Meals on Wheels called
for people to help deliver holiday meals to seniors in the parts of the county.
On Sunday, Lopatin said he plans to head over to the
social service agency Crossroads of Michigan with his children and
father-in-law to give out food.
"Even though Christmas is a Christian holiday,
Mitzvah Day is a way of involving everybody in a celebration of humanity,"
said Lopatin, rabbi for the Kehillat Etz Chayim, a modern orthodox congregation
in Huntington Woods and Oak Park.
Ray Hillenbrand, 60, of Rochester Hills knocks on the
door of Mandy Gutierrez as she gathers her children to be surprised by Santa.
The family cat Loco stands by while Hillenbrand waits to hand out toys to the
unsuspecting family in Southwest Detroit.
"In Detroit, so many of us live in different
neighborhoods, different communities. We don't get to mix as much as we want
to. This really feels like almost a flagship for our desire to do things
together," Lopatin said.

Over 12 Muslims Held, Muslim Man's House Razed After
Communal Clash Over Hindutva Rally ‘Shourya Yatra’ in Madhya Pradesh
Kashif Kakvi
26-12-2021
Bhopal: Right-wing Hindutva groups’ attempts to enter
a locality primarily populated by Muslims – against police instructions – as
part of their ‘Shourya Yatra’ in Manawar tehsil of Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar
district developed into a clash with stone pelting from both sides recently.
However, police have only arrested Muslims among those accused and inexplicably
razed a Muslim man’s house for harbouring three of the accused there and not
having “building permission.”
On December 23, 2021, Hindutva groups led a massive
‘Shourya Yatra’ (‘bravery rally’) with a DJ playing music. When they tried to
enter the Gandhi Nagar locality, they were stopped by the police with the use
of mild force.
Police action led to rumours spreading that a communal
clash had begun between Hindus and Muslims. The region had seen a similar clash
in 2016 and is understood to be communally sensitive.
