From Destroyed Military Sites To Jets Shot Down, Pakistan’s Losses During The Indo-Pak Conflict

May 11, 2025

An ANI report established that Indian Army position near Jammu destroyed 'Pakistani Posts and Terrorist Launch Pads.'

----------

During a May 10 briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh flipped the script on Pakistan’s “several attempts” to spread “misinformation,” further causing panic among the people. Slamming the neighbouring country’s claims of having destroyed “our S-400 missile base…Brahmos installation” as false, she instead pointed out that Pakistan had “suffered losses” on land and in air after butting heads with India.

This week, Pakistan continued drone attacks in several parts of India, ranging from Jammu & Kashmir, to Punjab. India previously successfully thwarted its disputed neighbour’s 26 attack attempts in the country. After foiling those fear-inducing attacks, India moved on to launch its own counter-strike, targeting various Pakistani military sites. Ultimately, the Friday night precision strikes resulted in a total of eight of these locations being hit. Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi unveiled the targets by listing out airbases in Rafiqui, Murid, Chalala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation bases.

“In response to Pakistan targeting civilian targets, the Indian Armed Forces retaliated and targeted technical installations, commands and control centres, radar sites and ammunition strongholds…” Col Qureshi said during the May 10 presser held in the morning. “While carrying out these attacks, India has ensured minimal collateral damage.”

Col Sofiya eventually also shared that Pakistan’s airfields in Skardu, Bholi, Sargodha and Jacobabad had sustained major damage. “Pakistan’s air defence systems and radar systems were neutralised, and its airspace was made untenable. Along the Line of Control, Pakistan’s command and control, logistics installations, and military infrastructure suffered such heavy losses that their offensive and defensive capabilities were completely crippled,” she said during the briefing before the ceasefire revelation.

As per confirmations pouring out in the aftermath of the May 7 Operation Sindoor, military strikes carried out as a retaliatory response to the Pahalgam terror attack were “focused, measured and non-escalatory.” The initial targets eluded Pakistani military installations, focussing on nine terror infrastructures. The list included headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. All linked to JeM, Markaz Subhan Allah at Bahawalpur, Sarjal at Tehra Kalan, Markaz Abbas in Kotli, and Syedna Bilal camp in Muzaffarabad were reduced to rubble. Other targets were LeT-affiliated locations: Markaz Taiba at Murdike, Markaz Ahle Hadith at Barnala, and ShwawaiNalla camp at Muzaffarabad.

On Thursday, the Pakistan government also appeared to appeal to international partners for additional loans, citing “heavy losses inflicted by the enemy,” according to a Reuters report. The same message popped up on the X page of Pakistan’s Economic Affairs Division, as a tweet read, “Govt of Pakistan appeals to International Partners for more loans after heavy losses inflicted by enemy. Amid escalating war and stocks crash, we urge international partner to help de-escalate. Nation urged to remain steadfast.” The ministry subsequently distanced itself from the post, clarifying that the X account had been hacked.

In the standoff that has continued this past week, India reportedly shot down at least two Pakistan fighter jets. ANI quoted unidentified sources as saying that a Pakistani Air Force jet was struck in Pathankot. NDTV’s sources also claimed that Indian SAM (Surface-to-air missile) shot down one of Pakistan’s F-16 supersonic fighter jets near the Sargodha air base. On top of that, India is believed to have taken down Islamabad’s Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft, a surveillance jet critical to air combat.

India Today reported the AWACS was hit in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Official confirmations about these particular jets being targeted have yet to make it out. The outlet also maintained that India’s air defence system is said to have taken down two of Pakistan’s JF-17 aircrafts, as per government sources.

In addition to Pakistan’s airbases and aircrafts sustaining major losses, its stock market witnessed a fall of over 9% in last few days amid cross-border escalation. On Friday, KSE-30 Index plunged 3%, marking its lowest since December 19.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri Locks X Account After Trolls Call Him ‘Face Of Betrayal’; Target Him And His Daughter

Subharup Das Sharma

A day after Vikram Misri announced the ceasefire, his X account went private

File picture

----------

India may or may not be bracing for war at the border, but it’s already deep into one online. And the latest to fall isn’t a soldier, but a statesman.

A day after Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri announced the ceasefire following India’s missile retaliation against Pakistan for the Pahalgam terror attacks, his X account went private.

What began as dissatisfaction over a diplomatic move escalated into character assassination. Misri, a career diplomat, found himself accused of “surrendering” to international pressure.

When the ceasefire fell apart within hours and Pakistan violated the agreement, the anger online turned vindictive. Memes, slurs and abuse targeted at the man reading out the government’s decisions, not the men making them.

What is more saddening is that it wasn’t just him alone. His daughter’s phone number was leaked. Her profession was questioned. Her integrity was doubted. One user demanded to know how her career fit into India’s “national interest”. Another called for her “exposure”. A third mined her social media, looking for ammunition.

To many, this would be another laugh-over-tea moment in India’s vitriol filled online culture. After all, this is the same social media that spammed Philips India because a New Zealand cricketer named Glenn Phillips took a catch to dismiss Virat Kohli.

Misri has been the public face of India’s measured yet firm diplomatic posture during the latest flare-up with Pakistan. On May 7, he briefed media after India struck nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, describing the strikes as "measured, non-escalatory and proportionate". He rebutted Pakistan's propaganda — from claims of shooting down Indian jets to bizarre accusations that India targeted a hydroelectric dam.

But when the ceasefire was announced on May 10, and promptly violated by Pakistan, Misri’s credibility was questioned. Right-wing leaders blamed him for “premature diplomacy”. Never mind that foreign secretaries implement, not design, such policies. Misri, a non-political appointee, became the lightning rod for a storm of nationalist rage.

Observers noted the pattern. First came the trolling of Himanshi Narwal, the widow and survivor of the Pahalgam attack that killed Navy officer Vinay Narwal. When she asked for justice without hate, saying, “We don’t want hatred for anyone. We want peace. But we want justice too,” trolls mocked her makeup, as if wearing lipstick invalidated her grief.

Now, it is Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s turn. What began as legitimate questions over a ceasefire has spiralled into a witch hunt, with Misri, who had called out Pakistan’s duplicity, being vilified online for being too diplomatic. The internet, it seems, has no time for nuance.

The diplomat who tried to explain India’s actions now finds his daughter explaining hers. The widow who asked for peace now finds herself defending her grief.

Taliban Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada Orders Taliban Intelligence To Crack Down On Perceived Insults To Islam

by Ahmad Azizi

May 11, 2025

The Taliban leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, has instructed the Taliban’s intelligence agency to act decisively against anyone deemed to have insulted Islamic values, reinforcing their hard-line stance on religious conformity.

In an audio message shared by Taliban spokesman from a seminar to Taliban intelligence officials in Kandahar, Akhundzada said the agency must prevent all “open or hidden” affronts to Islamic rituals and cultural norms, calling such acts part of a broader ideological threat to the Taliban’s rule.

“The intelligence apparatus must not allow any insult to Islamic traditions, whether public or concealed,” he said. “You are the backbone of the Islamic Emirate, and your duty is to protect it from all threats — ideological, political, or military.”

The seminar, according to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, was attended by regional intelligence directors and the agency’s deputy for operations. As with all of Akhundzada’s public addresses, the message was pre-recorded and disseminated through official Taliban media — part of a longstanding practice for the reclusive leader, who has not appeared in public since taking power.

Akhundzada warned of what he described as “corrupt thinking” and “foreign agendas,” and urged intelligence officials to collaborate with other Taliban institutions to “guide public opinion” under a strict interpretation of Sharia law.

While emphasizing ideological vigilance, he also advised officers to exercise restraint and ethics in their enforcement. “Do not detain anyone solely on suspicion,” he said. “And never reveal people’s secrets or mistreat detainees.”

His comments come amid mounting criticism of the Taliban’s General Directorate of Intelligence, which has been repeatedly accused by international human rights groups of arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and torture. Since the Taliban seized power in August 2021, the agency — led by Abdul Haq Wasiq — has expanded across all provinces, targeting religious institutions, former government employees, journalists, and civil society actors.

Akhundzada’s directive appears to reaffirm the intelligence service’s central role in defending the regime, while attempting to temper its reputation for abuse with calls for more disciplined conduct. The remarks also reflect his continued consolidation of religious and ideological authority over Taliban governance from his stronghold in Kandahar.

More than 100 decrees have been issued by the Taliban since returning to power, the majority of them restricting civil liberties, particularly for women. Akhundzada’s religious edicts and speeches, delivered only through audio recordings or written statements, have increasingly defined the group’s rigid policies.

His latest message signals both an endorsement of the intelligence agency’s sweeping powers and a warning to critics — domestic or foreign — who challenge the Taliban’s vision of Islamic governance.

IDF Kills Head Of Islamic Jihad Terror Cell, Nour Bitawi, In Jenin

May 11, 2025

A source in Central Command confirmed on Sunday morning that terrorist Nour Bitawi, one of the security forces' most wanted targets, was killed on Friday in Jenin.

"We have been chasing him since 2023," the officer told Channel 12 News. "We tried to reach him quite a few times in the last two years. There were moments when we came very close, but we manage to catch up with him on Friday."

According to the source, Bitawi has been on the wanted list for a long time. He controlled the territory, knew how to organize and direct terrorist squads and connect attackers. "He was both a commander and an initiator, with a rare ability to integrate attacks – he transferred funds, made connections, and coordinated the most significant attacks from that region."

"We cannot give more information for security reasons, but this is an extraordinary intelligence success – coming full circle with an accurate source, coordinating aerial measures from all commands, precise entry of a special forces unit, and final identification in the field. Everything happened within four to five hours from receiving the information to the final implementation."

Since the beginning of Operation Iron Wall in northern Samaria, security forces have eliminated over 105 terrorists, arrested about 350 wanted individuals, and confiscated more than 400 weapons.

Since the beginning of the war, over 900 terrorists have been eliminated in the Central Command sector, about 2,000 weapons have been confiscated, and IDF forces have carried out over 100 airstrikes in the area.

Rockford Mosque hosts open house to clear misinformation about Islam

By Jade Marceau-Mary

May 11, 2025

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The Rockford chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) collaborated with religious outreach organization GainPeace for what they called an open mosque day.

GainPeace Director and guest speaker Sabeel Ahmed said this event was directed toward non-Muslim members of the community who might be curious to see what happens inside a mosque.

“They may have driven past so many times in so many years. They may be curious about what happens inside,” Ahmed said. “I’m curious if I drive by a Church: ‘What happens inside.’ So, we want to invite them and meet with them.”

The community got to learn about the Islamic faith, the history of Muslims in America and their contributions, and the different misconceptions about the religion and what it stands for.

The ICNA’s Rockford mosque is not only a place for people to pray; The location also includes services accessible for all, including a health clinic for those underinsured and a place for food and clothing drives.

“When you are economical deprived, right, they are things that are just not available to you at the same level it is when you are economically well off, and healthcare is one of those things,” Event guest Tamarra Sward said.

Saturday’s open house also offered a large variety of activities including VR presentations, trying on a hijab, getting their name written in Arabic, and getting henna tattoos.

“The more we know about each other, and about different culture, the more it brings tolerance, it brings community, it brings love that need to be there no matter what your race is, no matter what your religion is,” Sward said.

“At the end of the day, the reason we are here is we get to know our neighbors, they get to know us, so we can live in justice, peace and harmony with God’s guidance,” Ahmed said.

Long Night And A Sudden Turnaround: 10 Things That Happened After India-Pakistan Ceasefire Deal

May 11, 2025

NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire on Saturday, following a sharp escalation in cross-border tensions triggered by the deadly April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.

In retaliation, India launched 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7, carrying out precision strikes on nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

Pakistan responded with drone attacks targeting areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. These attacks were intercepted by Indian defence systems but raised fears of a broader conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Amid growing concern, the United States played a key role in de-escalating the situation. US secretary of state Marco Rubio said he and Vice President JD Vance held discussions with senior officials from both countries. Rubio also commended PM Modi and Pakistan for choosing dialogue over confrontation.

Just hours after the ceasefire agreement, J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah questioned the truce deal as Srinagar was jolted by loud explosions on Saturday evening. “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!! This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up,” Abdullah posted on X.

Peace deal struck, but Pakistan violates ‘understanding’ along border

KallolBhattacherjee

May 11, 2025

After three days of intense military hostilities, India and Pakistan have reached an “understanding” about stopping “military action” and “firing” External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on Saturday (May 10, 2025).

Official sources asserted that the decision to stop military actions was bilaterally agreed between India and Pakistan and that the initiation of this “understanding” would not affect several recent punitive decisions that India has taken targeting Pakistan after the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.

However, cross-border firing was reported at some locations along the International Boundary in Jammu, while explosions were heard in Srinagar.

“What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar,” Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abullah said in a post on X. “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up,” he added in another post.

In a late night brief press meeting, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri informed that Pakistan had committed “repeated violations” of the ‘understanding’ saying that the Indian armed forces were given instruction to “deal strongly” with the situation.

“We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility,” said Mr. Misri who described these violations as a “breach of the understanding”.

“Damage to gurdwaras, mosques, temples in Poonch”: Head Granthi Bhai Surender Singh on Pakistan’s firing

May 11, 2025

Bhai Surender Singh, Head Granthi, Sahab Mahant Saab Ji Gurudwara, claimed that there was damage to gurdwaras, mosques, and temples after firing from the Pakistan side.

Speaking to ANI, Bhai Surender Singh said, “It wasn’t done by the Indian Army; it was actually firing from Pakistan. There was damage to gurdwaras, mosques, and temples, and we also had casualties. A teacher who was teaching children was killed. Pakistan fired on our city, on people’s homes, and even our gurdwaras were hit.”

“The truth always wins, and we must speak it. Despite all the damage and attacks on gurdwaras and temples, Pakistan is shamelessly blaming the Indian Army. But the truth is that Pakistan is behind this,” he added.

Terming the incident “unfortunate”, Balbir Singh, General Secretary of the Gurdwara Committee near the District Hospital in Poonch, stated that he was present at the gurdwara when the cashier of the gurdwara was killed in Pakistan’s firing.

“It is very unfortunate. The army of Pakistan could not stoop any lower. I was present in the gurdwara myself when the cashier of the gurdwara was martyred. He was reciting from the holy scriptures during the Sehaj Path, and just 2-5 minutes after talking to me, a bomb from Pakistan landed on the gurdwara boundary wall, and he was martyred near his house. I want to say this with deep sadness that they are projecting this to the whole world through false propaganda,” Singh said.

'Will work with India-Pakistan to seek solution on Kashmir': Trump

May 11, 2025

NEW DELHI: United States President Donald Trump on Sunday said he would see if, "after a 'thousand years,' a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir". Trump's remark comes a day after India agreed to Pakistan's call for a ceasefire amid military action that Indian armed forces took in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which 26 civilians were killed.

The US President also said he was proud that the "USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision" as the aggression "could have led to the death and destruction of so many, and so much".

"I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to the death and destruction of so many, and so much. Millions of good and innocent people could have died!" Trump wrote on his social media site, Truth Social.

"Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions. I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision. While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a “thousand years,” a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done!!!" he wrote.

Night before announcement of ceasefire, Pakistan blitz meets Indian firewall

May 11, 2025

Amritsar: India thwarted a series of drone and missile attacks launched from Pakistan on Friday night and early Saturday, neutralising multiple aerial threats to key military installations and civilian areas across Punjab's border districts of Amritsar and Gurdaspur.

India thwarted the attacks just hours before a truce was reached between the two countries. However, it was short lived, as the neighbouring country violated it again in Jammu.

The Army said Pakistan had made several attempts to target Pathankot's Air Force Station along with its surrounding military installations and civilian areas. The first wave around 8pm on Friday triggered a quick red alert and blackout across Amritsar city. Air defence units spotted and destroyed drones over the Khasa region, halting Pakistan's offensive within 30 minutes.

A second strike was reported on Friday night at Bamiyal village near the border. Again, Indian defences responded promptly, shooting down incoming drones and missiles. At about 4.30am on Saturday, the enemy made a third attempt to strike Pathankot using a mix of drones and missiles. Defence sources have said the airbase and other installations were the intended targets, but no damage was reported. Debris from intercepted drones and rockets was recovered from Amritsar's Rajasanasi area villages, including MagulaniKot and Rayya.

Afghanistan Calls Out Pakistan’s Bluff On Missile Strike After India Slams ‘Ludicrous Claim’

By :Manoj Gupta

May 10, 2025

Kabul on Saturday rubbished Pakistan’s claims that India has launched a missile attack on Afghanistan’s territory, hours after India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called out the “ludicrous claim".

Inayatullah Khawarizmi, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defence, spoke to Hurriyat Radio and strongly rejected Pakistan’s claim, saying there was no truth to them.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs also rejected the claim, saying the people of Afghanistan know their friends and enemies well and are aware of which country has repeatedly violated Afghanistan’s territory.

Earlier in the day, Misri, while addressing a press briefing, said: “There is this completely ludicrous claim that Indian missiles have hit Afghanistan. Totally frivolous allegation. And I only want to point out that Afghan people don’t need to be reminded about which country it is that has, on multiple occasions, in just the last 1.5 years, targeted the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in Afghanistan."

Qataris search for bodies of Americans killed by Islamic State in Syria

By Andrew Mills

May 11, 2025

A Qatari mission has begun searching for the remains of U.S. hostages killed by Islamic State in Syria a decade ago, two sources briefed on the mission said, reviving a longstanding effort to recover their bodies.

Islamic State, which controlled swathes of Syria and Iraq at the peak of its power from 2014-2017, beheaded numerous people in captivity, including Western hostages, and released videos of the killings.

Qatar's international search and rescue group began the search on Wednesday, accompanied by several Americans, the sources said. The group, deployed by Doha to earthquake zones in Morocco and Turkey in recent years, had so far found the remains of three bodies, the sources said.

One of the sources — a Syrian security source — said the remains had yet to be identified. The second source said it was unclear how long the mission would last.

The Qatari mission gets under way as U.S. President Donald Trump prepares to visit Doha and other Gulf Arab allies next week and as Syria's ruling Islamists, close allies of Qatar, seek relief from U.S. sanctions.

Minds must not be diverted from Palestine: Leader

May 10, 2025

In his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the vital connection between the dignity of labor and the future of the nation, describing work as the pillar upon which human life and society endure. He turned attention to the current atrocities being committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza. Referring to the deafening silence of some world powers, Imam Khamenei said that the crimes being committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza and Palestine aren’t something that can be overlooked.

The Leader warned that biased global policies are deliberately employed to sideline the Palestinian cause and to blur its urgency in the minds of the people, asserting, “There are biased policies being employed in the world today against nations in efforts to cause people to forget the issues related to Palestine. Muslim nations must not allow rumors, various talk, and new issues to divert minds from the Palestinian Issue.”

Ayatollah Khamenei described the firm global stance against not only the Zionist regime, but also against its well-known supporters as essential, stating, “The entire world must stand up firmly against the supporters of the Zionist regime. The US is supporting the Zionist regime in the truest sense of the word.”

He further emphasized that the people of Gaza and Palestine are not merely facing the Zionist occupation: “The reality is that the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza are facing not only the Zionist regime, but also the US and England. Instead of stopping the killing and destruction, they empower and support the criminal regime by sending weapons and equipment.”

Underscoring the need for unyielding vigilance, he added that some slogans, remarks, and temporary incidents must not cause the issue of Palestine to be forgotten. People’s minds must not be diverted from Palestine.”

DOJ to investigate Muslim-led development targeted by Texas GOP, senator says

May 10, 2025

The Justice Department will investigate whether a planned real estate development around one of North Texas’s largest mosques violates federal law, Sen. John Cornyn (R) said Friday after weeks of calling the project antisemitic and anti-Christian.

Attacks over the development outside Dallas have been amplified by Cornyn, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), Gov. Greg Abbott and right-wing bloggers who baselessly claim it would create a Muslim-only community and impose Islamic law on residents.

Texas Muslim housing project under lens

May 11, 2025

The US justice department has opened an investigation into a planned housing development outside Dallas that would have a mosque at its centre, Senator John Cornyn said Friday. Cornyn, who will face Texas' hard-right attorney general, Ken Paxton, next year in what could be a heated Republican primary contest for his own Senate seat, is the latest Texas Republican to challenge the development in the rural town of Josephine, Texas.

The project is backed by members of the East Plano Islamic Center, a mosque in Plano, and has drawn intense scrutiny from Republicans, including Gov Greg Abbott, who have accused the planners of seeking to create an exclusively Muslim community and to impose Islamic law on residents. In recent months, Abbott has directed several state agencies to investigate the development, known as EPIC City, suggesting it may have violated fair housing and financial laws.

What is the traditional Sunday blessing that popes deliver in St. Peter's Square?

May 11, 2025

VATICAN CITY: For thousands of Catholic pilgrims in Rome, it's the unmissable Vatican appointment, the midday Sunday blessing the pope delivers from a window overlooking St. Peter's Square.

The new pope, Leo XIV, is scheduled to deliver his first such prayer on Sunday from the loggia where he first appeared in public after being elected three days ago.

The history of the pope's Sunday blessing In 1954, which he had declared a special year of veneration to the Virgin Mary, Pope Pius XII started reciting in public a traditional Catholic midday prayer to her. He first delivered it from the pope's summer residence, just outside Rome at Castel Gandolfo.

Back at the Vatican, he kept it up from a window facing St. Peter's Square at the Apostolic Palace, the 16th century building where the papal apartments are. Pope Francis broke with tradition by living at a Vatican guest house instead but still maintained the Sunday prayer tradition from the palace.

It's become a chance for ordinary faithful to see the pope relatively up close. Especially since the papacy of St. John Paul II - from 1978 to 2005 - popes have added short messages touching on different topics of the day.

Trump must halt mass layoffs of federal workers: Judge

May 11, 2025

The Trump administration must temporarily cease from engaging in widespread layoffs and firings of govt workers, a California federal court ruled Friday.

President Donald Trump's Feb executive order calling for a radical reorganisation of the federal workforce likely violates the Constitution, Judge Susan Illston of the US district court for the Northern District of California said.

She granted a temporary restraining order requested by coalition of labour unions, nonprofit organisations, and municipal govts to halt worker layoffs nationwide.

The ruling is the biggest blow so far to Trump's efforts to downsize the federal govt by cutting costs and slashing what's viewed as administrative bloat. The administration appealed the decision early Saturday to the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Illston, a Clinton appointee, said at a Friday hearing in San Francisco that she was inclined to grant the restraining order to "protect the power of the legislative branch."

As Umno marks 79th anniversary, Zahid warns against ‘who’s more radical’ race

By Muhammad Yusry

11 May 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today reminded party members not to get caught up in the “who’s more radical” race.

“This is the politics of consideration, stability, and hope that we must uphold as we lead the nation,” he said in his speech at Umno’s 79th anniversary celebration at the World Trade Centre here.

“I want Umno to rise as a party of the future, to become a political movement that practises politics of solutions, politics of legacy and moderate politics,” he said.

“Our success in the by-elections proves one important point, the public now prefers solutions that relate to their daily lives over being constantly bombarded with political rhetoric that has become increasingly nauseating to their ears,” he added.

Tabung Haji rolls out digital tablets for pilgrim health checks in Mecca under Ziarah Rahmah programme

11 May 2025

MECCA, May 11 — The healthcare services for Malaysian pilgrims in the Holy Land saw a significant milestone this Haj season as the Public Health Unit of LembagaTabung Haji (TH) utilised digital tablets in implementing the Ziarah Rahmah (visit to pilgrims) programme at every maktab (residential facility) it operates here.

TH Public Health Unit Operations Coordinator Dr Abdullah Husam A Shukor said the use of this technology, introduced for the first time this Haj season, enables health visits from room to room to be carried out more swiftly, systematically and comprehensively.

“This year, TH has equipped its personnel with digital tablets complete with SIM cards and internet access. Now, when healthcare personnel visit (Malaysian) pilgrims, we can directly access their health information online via the system.

“Through the use of these tablets, healthcare personnel can access the Pre-Haj Health Screening Reports within the Ministry of Health’s MyVAS system through the SIHAT system (a health information system developed by TH for medical personnel in the Holy Land),” he said when met by the Malaysian media here.

Dr Abdullah Husam said this new approach marks a significant improvement compared to the previous manual method, which involved recording treatment information in the Pilgrims’ Health Record Book during past Haj seasons.

Kwankwaso Condemns Defection of Govs, Lawmakers, Says Joining Another Party after Winning Election Highest Form of Betrayal

11-05-2025

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has condemned politicians who defected to rival political parties after winning elections on different political platforms, describing such action as the greatest political sin.

Kwankwaso made his position known yesterday in Kano while receiving scores of defectors from the Takai Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano South into the NNPP at his Miller Road residence.

Some key politicians in Kano State, including Senator Abdurrahman KawuSumaila representing Kano South, and a member representing Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure federal constituency in the state, Hon. KabiruAlhassanRurum, among others, had recently defected from Kwankwaso’s NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, the former Kano State governor described such defectors as those who, after winning elections on the back of the support of the masses, betrayed the people by defecting to the opposition camps.
