'Sar Tan
Se Juda' Threat to Nagpur Journalist Over Raging Israel-Hamas Conflict in Gaza

2024
NAGPUR:
Social media has turned into a battlefield amid the raging Israel-Hamas
conflict in Gaza with an independent journalist in Nagpur on Friday submitting
a police complaint citing hate messages and death threats on Instagram,
including one that warned her of "Sar Tan Se Juda (beheading)".
A woman
digital influencer was also issued death threats over her posts, while a teen
received abusive messages.
"The
journalist has been reporting on the Israel-Hamas conflict and he received the
'Sar Tan Se Juda' threat. Please take immediate action against the
guilty," says the journalist's complaint submitted to Nagpur police
commissioner Ravinder Singal. The Instagram IDs of those who issued the threats
were made public with an appeal to report them. Singal promised
"appropriate legal action".
A youth
with 10k followers on Instagram had posted the picture of the journalist and
the woman digital influencer with the Sar Tan Se Juda slogan as background
music. As outrage peaked, the youth deleted the post.
Social
media users in Nagpur have been split down the middle with many sharing posts
in support of Palestine and others backing Israel for eight months since the
conflict began.

Islamist-inspired
terror attack foiled by French police ahead of Paris Olympic Games
31/05/2024
The
Directorate General of Internal Security said the suspect planned to target
football events in Saint-Étienne, southwest of LyonGetty
------------
An
18-year-old has been arrested for planning an Islamist-inspired attack at the
Paris Olympic Games, officials have said.
The
Directorate General of Internal Security said the suspect planned to target
football events in Saint-Étienne, southwest of Lyon.
The
Chechen national has been charged and placed in pre-trial detention.
According
to investigators, the teenager was preparing an attack on the Geoffroy-Guichard
stadium which is to host several football matches this summer.
He is
being held on suspicion of wanting to commit an attack.
A French
report said the suspect was arrested at his home and he had already carried out
a reconnaissance.
In a
press release, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin congratulated the
intelligence services.
He said
the country will "demonstrate their full mobilisation and their
effectiveness in the fight against terrorism and the protection of our
country."
"This
is the first foiled attack against the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games
and the 50th attack foiled by our intelligence services since 2017," he
added.
Among
the games that are set to be held at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium are France
vs Canada and USA vs Guinea.
A police
statement said the suspect planned to target spectators and police forces.
The
teenager also wanted to attack the Olympic events "to die and become a
martyr", the report added.
The
Paris Olympics will run from July 26 until August 11.
Football
matches are due to take place in cities across France.
The
final is expected to be held in Paris’ Stade de France.

Iranian
Londoners demand action against Islamic Republic aggressors
May 31,
2024
FILE -
Demonstrators display a pre-revolution Iran flag as they gather in Trafalgar
Square, London, Sept. 16, 2023. Iranian dissident groups accused London police
on May 30, 2024, of not doing enough to identify and apprehend aggressive
pro-Iran supporters during a May 24 event.
-----------
A
coalition of Iranian dissident groups assembled on Thursday outside the
Metropolitan Police headquarters in London to object to what they perceive as
law enforcement's inaction toward the aggressive conduct of Islamic Republic
sympathizers.
The
Iranian demonstrators rallied to denounce what they said was the London
police's failure to promptly identify and apprehend those responsible for
assaulting protesters outside the recent memorial ceremony in London for
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash earlier this
month along with seven others.
"The
aggressive behavior exhibited by backers of the Islamic Republic and their
violent clashes with dissenters undoubtedly constitute criminal offenses,”
Vahid Abazari, one of the participants in the May 24 protest, told VOA. “The
country purporting to uphold human rights must be held accountable for its
failure to initiate investigations or apprehend the perpetrators."
Navid,
who would give only one name, was injured during an assault by Islamic Republic
supporters at an anti-government rally in London.
"Despite
the severity of my physical injuries, my spirits are high, and once I am
discharged from the hospital, I'll be ready to continue my fight against the
Islamic Republic," he told VOA from his hospital bed on May 26.
At the
Raisi memorial ceremony a week ago in Wembley, a faction of Islamic Republic
supporters launched an attack on demonstrators. The Metropolitan Police
reported four individuals sustained minor injuries during the altercation, with
one person arrested on suspicion of instigating disorder and violence.

PM Anwar
Says Artificial Intelligence Field in Malaysia Needs to Apply Islamic Scholarly
Tradition

Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the knowledge contained in AI
technology is currently based on materials from Western countries because the
technology was developed by them. — Bernama pic
------------
SHAH
ALAM, June 1 — The field of artificial intelligence (AI) in Malaysia needs to
be applied with the values of ‘turath Islam’ (Islamic scholarly tradition), and
not completely guided by the Western model, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The
prime minister said that the skills and development of AI progress in the
country need to be filled with the treasures of knowledge and the legacy of
Islam, to be used as a corpus (a collection of research materials) so that the
development of technology goes hand in hand with ‘adab’ (manners) and ‘akhlak’
(morality).
Anwar
said that the knowledge contained in AI technology is currently based on
materials from Western countries because the technology was developed by them.
“My
concern in Malaysia, in developing AI, the values embedded (in AI) are Western
values and thinking. Although AI is considered neutral as the whole corpus of
knowledge can be included, and when there is a question, the answer appears to
be complete.
Therefore,
he said that the Islamic intellectual tradition must be included so that the AI
applied in Islamic countries does not stray from the Islamic moral system and
values. — Bernama

Hurriyat
chief Mirwaiz ahead of Lok Sabha results: ‘Hope for softer policy… if Centre
takes one step, we’ll take two’
June 1,
2024
Hurriyat
chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday urged the Centre to “open dialogue and
deliberation” with the people of Kashmir. Allowed to lead prayers at Srinagar’s
Jamia Masjid after four weeks, Mirwaiz emphasised “we hope that the new
government at the Centre will shift to a softer policy and we can move forward
with a humane and realistic approach.”
He said
that the leadership of the Hurriyat Conference has always been in favour of
dialogue and that “if the Centre takes one step, we will also take two.”
Stating
that by next week a new government at the Centre will be formed, Mirwaiz said,
“as for me and Hurriyat, the option for dialogue and deliberation for moving forward
is the best bet. It is the course that I and my colleagues advocate and have
always practiced, even at the cost of harm to us. If lasting peace and progress
of people is our aim, our approach should also reflect that.”
Kashmir’s
chief cleric was not allowed to lead prayers at the Jamia Masjid during
elections through May. Highlighting issues faced by the young people, he said,
“besides the policy of seeking verifications and clearances from Kashmiris
applying for jobs, passports, or identification cards is causing great stress
and distress among people, especially the youth.” He said that the people of
J&K have the “first right” to jobs in their land.
“We do
not want violence, we do not want to see our young people in jails and graves.
It is time to move forward and we have to look for solutions to our issues,”
Mirwaiz said. Speaking outside the Jamia Masjid Friday, he also stated, “We do
not want our youth to once again be consumed by this conflict. I hope that both
the Centre and the administration here will adopt a softer approach as against
the current approach of an iron fist.”

Srinagar
Airport operations halted for an hour after bomb threat
May 31,
2024
Flight
operations at the Srinagar International Airport had to be halted for an hour
on Friday after a bomb threat as the authorities took preventive measures,
officials said.
The Air
Traffic Control (ATC) at the Srinagar Airport received a bomb threat on an Air
Vistara flight from New Delhi, prompting a response from the authorities,
including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible
for the security at the airport, the officials said.
They
said a threat call was made to the airport around the noon about the flight,
which had 178 passengers onboard. Immediately after the flight landed at the
airport, it was directed towards an isolation bay and the passengers and the
crew were evacuated, they added.
A thorough search of the plane was carried
out, and bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were also deployed to check any
suspicious items, they said. After an exhaustive search, no explosives were
found on the plane, they added.
Flight
operations, which had to be halted for about an hour, resumed later, the
officials said. Investigations on the origin of the threat call have been
initiated, the officials added.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the airline
confirmed there was a “security concern” on Vistara flight UK 611 operating
from Delhi to Srinagar, which was brought to the staff’s attention while on
board.
“Following
the protocol, we immediately informed the relevant authorities, and the
aircraft was taken to the isolation bay after safely landing at the Srinagar
International Airport where all passengers were disembarked,” the Vistara
spokesman said.

Three
Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in
Agartala on Thursday.
Speaking
to reporters, East Agartala Police station in-charge Sanjit Sen said, “We
received a tip-off that three Bangladeshi nationals were trying to board a ride
to Punjab from the Chandrapur Inter-State Bus Terminus. We dispatched our
police officials to the spot. When we questioned the three suspects, they
admitted that they were Bangladeshi citizens and had entered India illegally.”
The
three Bangladeshi citizens were identified as Nur Mohammad, Md Abdullah, and
Asmaul Hasina.
The
official also said the Bangladeshi nationals admitted to having entered India
through the Comilla-Sonamura border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district.
“Someone
facilitated their entry into India and left them at the Agartala Railway
Station in a vehicle. But they couldn’t catch the train and had to move to
Chandrapur ISBT,” the official said.
The
accused were produced in a local court with a plea to remand the two men in
police custody for further interrogation.
Notably,
the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested one Jalil Miah,
who is suspected to have trafficked Bangladesh nationals and Rohingyas into
India, in Sepahijala.
Sources
in the state police said scores of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas
illegally cross the India-Bangladesh border every month. Later, they are sent
to different parts of the country along with fake documents.
Based on
digital surveillance and tracking, the NIA and BSF apprehended 29 touts across
the country in November and December last year. Of them, five were arrested in

Labour
Website Says Party ‘Needs Help’ Defending 16 Seats in More Muslim Areas –
Including Ultra-Safe Seats
31st
May, 2024
More
than a dozen Labour-held seats with a significant number of Muslim voters have
been described by the party’s website as “battleground areas”, LabourList can
reveal, with activists told to stay put amid apparent fears of bleeding support
over Gaza –including seats held by shadow cabinet members with huge majorities.
One MP
told LabourList it showed the party “recognises that we have got work to do”
rebuilding trust, while one think tank leader said Labour was right to worry
about the “by-elections on home turf” it faces against a string of independent
candidates.
Labour
has a website where campaigners can enter a postcode to find their nearest
“battleground” constituency, with many activists directed to Tory-held seats
where Labour has the best chances of making gains.
But
LabourList uncovered 16 constituencies currently held by Labour with large
Muslim populations where the tool informed local volunteers this week: “We need
your help to hold this seat for Labour.”
These
include the constituencies of Shadow Paymaster General Jonathan Ashworth,
Shadow Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood and Shadow Investment and Small
Business minister Rushanara Ali.
It comes
in spite of the fact Ashworth is defending a 46.4 percentage point majority
over his nearest challenger, Mahmood a 73.2pp majority, and Ali a 63.4pp
majority, according to a study of 2019 general election results as if they had
been held on the new 2024 constituency boundaries.
Constituencies
also thought to be at risk include Blackburn, Slough, all three Bradford
constituencies and Luton’s two seats.

‘THAT’S
Discrimination!’ Michigan Music SUPPRESSED As Muslim Parents ‘Don’t Want’ It
For Their Children
31/05/2024
Michigan
local Virginia Skrzyniarz has claimed that Muslim parents have
"banned" the teaching of music in the city of Hamtramck, in the
latest revelation about the transformation of Michigan's cities.
Whilst
making his GBNA documentary, America's Muslim City, reporter Steven Edginton
has unveiled the many shocking details of the religion-led city in Michigan.
Speaking
to Skrzyniarz, CEO and co-founder of the Piast Institute in Hamtramck, she
revealed to Steven that the latest suppression in the town involves the
teaching of music in the local schools.
She told
GBNA: "We have a credentialed classical composer in the area, called
Brian, and he told me he would love to teach music therapy in the schools, and
I told him that's not a problem.
"Normally
we just call the principal, we do it all the time and we don't have any
problem.
"But
he said he was told no he couldn't, because the Muslim parents don't want art
music for their children."
Highlighting
the diverse community in Hamtramck, Skrzyniarz added: "You have
Ukrainians, Bosnians, Macedonians, you have all these other children here.
That's discrimination."
Hitting
out at the block by Muslim parents, Skrzyniarz made clear that it is "not
about music therapy, but it's about who can't have music therapy".
Steven
then questioned Skrzyniarz about the recent protests in the nearby town of
Dearborn, where the pro-Palestinian crowd were chanting "death to America".
Skrzyniarz
claimed that the crowd was not full of genuine protesters, but instead was
filled with "paid people".
She
explained: "I think that 70 per cent of them were not protesters, but
rather paid people. I really believe that - we saw that here with the LBGTQ
issue.
"So
every year, we put up a flag during pride month. And the mayor came by in the
morning and found our flag in the garbage. And it was four young boys, possibly
Muslim.
"We
didn't put it back up because we don't want to aggravate anybody. I cannot tell
you how many people were upset with me because I did not put him in jail, and
if I had done that, he would have been angry and he would have been one yelling
down with America."
Noting
the rise of the diverse communities and black population in Michigan,
particularly Hamtramck, Skrzyniarz claimed that certain groups have been
"strategically displaced".
When
questioned on social media posts from local politicians appearing to
discriminate against minority communities, Skrzyniarz told GBNA: "Some of
the stuff shared online is pretty nasty and very ignorant and not well
informed.
"And
it's also about the black population, which is a pet peeve of mine. And they
have strategically been displaced in this in the city."

Muslim Shaykh Who Attempts To Convert African-Americans Outrageously Claims IDF
‘Killed Their Own People’ In The Middle East Conflict
31/05/2024
An
American Shaykh has claimed that the Israeli Defence Force "killed their
own people" as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues.
Abdulkarim
Yahya told GBNA that he "doesn't believe the official narratives" of
mainstream media about the attacks, following the events of October 7.
In
conversation with GBN America reporter Steven Edginton, who is investigating
the rise of "Muslim-led cities" in the United States, Yahya was asked
for his thoughts on who is responsible for the October 7 attacks and other
killings as a result.
Yahya
told GBNA his initial reaction to the attacks: "My reaction was, I heard
about it in the media, and I don't typically believe the official narratives
that I hear in media.
Steven
argued that there has been "plenty of evidence" put out in mainstream
media to outline the truths of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Steven
explained: "Certainly those Jews who died, I think there's been plenty of
evidence that's been put out there. Many, many countries around the world
recognise this.
"Even
if they criticise Israel for their reaction. They recognised that around 1200
Jewish civilians were brutally murdered, raped, killed on October 7.
"So
those people didn't deserve to die. They weren't part of a war. They were just
civilians living in a kibbutz, which is meant to be a peace-loving area."
Yahya
responded and asked Steven how many of those "were killed by the
IDF", to which Steven said: "They were killed by Hamas."
Yahya
then claimed: "That's what's alleged."
Steven
then asked Yahya if he believed the IDF "killed their own people",
which he agreed "absolutely".
He
added: "Some of their people would - minimum friendly fire at minimum. But
there are those that are of the view that many of them were killed by their own
side."
Steven
argued: "But Hamas was celebrating it? They were putting up videos of them
killing these Jewish civilians?"
Yahya
admitted: "I haven't seen that, and I don't follow it to that level of
detail."

Several
injured in knife attack at anti-Islam rally in Germany, attacker nabbed
May 31,
2024
Several
people, including a police officer, were injured in Germany's Mannheim on
Friday after an unidentified attacker went on a stabbing rampage at a
right-wing demonstration, police said.
The
attack happened when an elderly man was preparing to address the far-right
protest that was called by anti-Islam activist Michael Stuerzenberger.
Notably,
Stuerzenberger, who describes himself as an Islam-critical journalist, has been
a member of several far-right anti-Islam organisations, including the PEGIDA
movement that holds regular marches in cities, especially in Eastern Germany.
Several
videos of the incident, that are roaming on social media, show a policeman
shooting the suspect from close range as he was grappling with another man.
Following
the attack, German police said that a "firearm was used against the
attacker," injuring him. The police further added that there was no
further danger to the public.
"Emergency
responders and a rescue helicopter are on the scene. There is no danger to the
public. Train service is suspended between Kurpfalzkreisel and Paradeplatz
until further notice," police said in a statement.

Islamists

'Revolutionary
socialist groups are good at organising rallies... They're good at printing
posters and placards and banners. But Islamist groups can bring down tens -
maybe hundreds - of thousands of people,' a Home Office source said
Since
October 7, the reignition of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - sparked, of
course, by Hamas and other groups' assault, murder and kidnapping of thousands
of Israeli civilians and troops, and continued by Israel's overwhelming
military response in the Gaza Strip - has fuelled tens of thousands of protests
the world over.
In the
UK, crowds hundreds of thousands strong have marched through the streets of
cities and towns across the land in order to make their demands clear: an end
to British economic ties with Israel, a ceasefire in Gaza, British arms
manufacturers to stop outfitting the Israeli military with technology, and many
more besides.
Most of
these demonstrators are peacefully exercising their right to free speech; to
raise awareness on what is, undeniably, a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Of
course, protests are nothing new. One only need cast their mind back to
Aldermaston, Blair, the Poll Tax, and... Donald Trump... to know that some
Britons are capable of raising their voice when they see fit.
Even
now, groups like Just Stop Oil (JSO) and Extinction Rebellion (XR) - motivated
by what they call a looming "unprecedented global climate emergency"
- are more than able to rally thousands to their side on a whim.
But amid
the crowds lie groups and individuals with ulterior motives, which policymakers
have said "seize on criminal sabotage and illegal disruption as their
method of forcing their way into the conversation".
Groups
like Extinction Rebellion (left) and Just Stop Oil (right) are more than able
to rally thousands to their side on a whimPA
Both
large-scale protests and disruptive individuals can wreak immense social
change; indeed, in the last day, GB News has revealed that JSO activists will
target airports including Heathrow and Gatwick at the height of the holiday
season in order to make the biggest splash they can - and, of course, to get
eyes on their cause.
The
Johnson government knew that first point to be true; in late 2020, it
commissioned a report from John Woodcock, Baron Walney, into political violence
and disruption.
Last
week, that report - a sprawling 292-page review calling on the governments of
today and tomorrow to clamp down on extreme protest groups - finally saw the
light of day.
In it,
the public are warned of the threat of the "extreme left", which,
despite not "routinely employing violent methods", Lord Walney said,
"systematically seek to undermine faith in our parliamentary democracy and
the rule of law".
Palestine
and Soviet flags/Lord WalneyLordWalney drew attention to links between
Islamists and the far-left which he said represent an "unholy
alliance"Getty/Pool
At its
official reveal at a Whitehall press conference, Lord Walney drew attention to
alarming links between Islamists and the far-left, which he said represent an
"unholy alliance".
Such an
"alliance" poses a threat; not just to everyday protesters, not just
to the general public, and not just to the government of the day - but to the
West at large.
For
example, the Stop the War Coalition is allied with the Muslim Association of
Britain - a group alleged to be the British affiliate of the Muslim Brotherhood
Islamist group as recently as March 2024 by Communities Secretary Michael Gove
in Parliament.
And just
four days prior to the report's unveiling, former Home Secretary Suella
Braverman locked horns on GB News with the National Campaigns Coordinator for
the Revolutionary Communist Party, Fiona Lali - who threatened that the
"Palestine movement" could bring down "Tory ministers, the Tory
government, any government, and any mainstream political party".
GB News
spoke to a Home Office source involved in Lord Walney's review to find out
more.
The Home
Office figure said: "The big demonstrations are being run by, effectively,
the Stop the War Coalition. That is being run at a high level by the Muslim
Brotherhood, Islamist groups and various Trotskyist and Stalinist groups, and
they are the leadership of that movement, and they've always been the
leadership of that movement."
"The
big London demonstrations are a clear example of the phenomenon [the
"alliance"] that [Lord Walney] talks about."
Though
the source did note that these activist groups were not as strong in smaller,
regional demonstrations.
According
to the Home Office source, links between Islamist and far-left parties have
deep roots.
The two
groups, GB News was told, both "think that they are going to lead the
population as a whole into a brave new world that they will create", and
both wish to preside over a collectivity of people - for Islamists, the
"ummah", or Muslims as a whole, and for communists, the proletariat.
By
joining forces with the far-left, the source said, Islamist groups had been
able to "extend the reach of their audience beyond people who have a
strong religious affiliation to a cause".
Britons
take revenge: Majorca shocked as holidaymakers flee leaving island 'half empty'
The
source continued: "By this stage, the far-left has been eclipsed by the
reach of the Islamist groups.
"Revolutionary
socialist groups are good at organising rallies, and they know how to do that.
They're good at printing posters and placards and banners. But Islamist groups
can bring down tens - maybe hundreds - of thousands of people."
But the
source noted that aside from a desire for revolution, the groups had almost
"nothing in common", and posed the question of why they ended up
working together.
The
answer, the source said, was "imperialism" - citing the writings of
late Socialist Worker editor Chris Harman.
Harman
had argued that revolutionary socialists seeking to oppose imperialism had believed
"intelligent young Muslims" would be game for "converting"
from their religion to extreme-left principles and joining socialist movements.
The Home
Office source said that today, "whether you're the Muslim Brotherhood or
the Socialist Workers Party, you dream of heading up a large demonstration -
because you see yourself as being the leadership of your respective
constituencies".
They
continued: "The risk is that organisations which are inimical and opposed
to the basic precepts of liberal democracy end up in a leadership position and
end up being treated as authorities."
In order
to become part of the "cultural far-left", the source said, one must
subscribe to a series of "not well-tied up" policy positions, beliefs
and behaviours, which are largely based around causes.
When
asked about the Gazan and Palestinian causes, and why they seem so uniquely
politically charged, the source pointed to decades-long ties between the Soviet
Union and certain Arab states, which set the tone for the far-left and for Muslims
back in the UK.
"A
lot of what you're seeing [in the links between the two groups today] is
basically a line that was handed down from the mid-1950s onwards to communists
in the UK, and basically became a line of the left - because the Communist Party
of Great Britain dominated the left."
Biden/NetanyahuA
lot of communists struggle with defining the US and Israel's place in the
world, the source saidReuters
The
source referenced the Leninist belief that businesses could "capture"
governments and force them to colonise overseas territories in order to
establish monopolies within them as a driver behind modern-day far-left beliefs
about Israel and the US.
The
far-left's understanding of Israel, the source added, had always centred around
the belief the US is the "great global imperialist power" and that
Israel is "essentially part of America's empire".
But the
source said "a lot of people who are communists, when they think about
capitalists, they think about Jews" - which leads to the ideological tension
on the far-left that "Jews control the world", and thus Israel
controls the US, versus "capitalist states control the world", and
thus the US controls Israel.
When
asked whether activist groups had any "pragmatic" goals beyond
revolution, the source told GB News: "No. You might as well ask a
Jehovah's Witness whether they really believe that Jesus is about to come back.
"They
think that, at some point in the near future, revolution will inevitably happen
- and they will lead it!"
An
Extinction Rebellion spokesperson told GB News: "An anonymous briefing
from someone in the Home Office doesn't sound like much of a story to be
honest.
"On
the other hand, former government Chief Scientist Sir David King said publicly
last week that 'on our current path, civilisation as we know it will disappear'
- it should be clear what the real threat is."
GB News
has approached the Stop the War Coalition, Just Stop Oil, the Muslim
Association of Britain and the Socialist Workers Party for comment.

North America
'Biden
is TOAST!' US President warned American Muslims 'brainwashed' into caring more
about the Middle East
31/05/2024
A
prominent American human rights activist has warned that Joe Biden and his
administration are "toast" at the next Presidential election due to
"brainwashed Muslims" in the US.
Despite
dwindling popularity amongst US voters, the 81-year-old President is gunning
for a second term in The White House as he is set to face rival Donald Trump in
the November ballot.
Speaking
to GBN America, Hirsi Ali, a former Muslim who recently converted to
Christianity, claimed that there is an "advancing of Dawah" in the
States which could sway this year's election.
In
conversation with Steven Edginton, Hirsi Ali warned the Democrats and American
voters of the "agenda the Muslim activists are pushing".
Hirsi
Ali explained: "The agenda is anti-Christian, it is anti-American, it is
anti-Republican and it is anti-church.
"The
Republicans have failed to see the agenda that the activist Muslims are
pushing."
When
asked by GBNA reporter Steven Edginton how important the Muslim vote is to the
US election, Hirsi Ali claimed it is "crucial".
Hirsi
Ali told GBNA: "It is very crucial if elections get that close. I think
Biden and his administration are toast.
"Because
the Muslim societies and Muslim communities have been brainwashed into thinking
that what's happening in the Middle East is more important to them than what's
happening locally."
However,
Hirsi Ali argued that the Republicans and Conservative voters are more likely
to have "something in common" with the Muslim activists.
Hirsi
Ali claimed: "Superficially, Republicans and conservatives who are
interested in protecting the family, protecting the rights of women, rights of
the unborn child, protecting religious freedom, at times will think that they
have something in common with those Muslims who are advancing Dawah."
Turning
the conversation to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and America's
efforts in the war, Hirsi Ali said it was "far more likely" that
radical Islamists and terrorists will enter via refugee and asylum routes to
America, not innocent women and children.
She told
Steven: "We're going to get Palestinian Islamic Jihad members who are
going to get radical, hardened militant Islamists to come into America through
the asylum and refugee process.
"And
they will exploit the system to lend a hand to those activist, militant Muslims
who are anti-Semitic and anti-American and with an agenda to Islamise as our
society."
However,
Hirsi Ali stressed: "If the Palestinian refugees are small children and
women who have been vetted and who are going to be brought here, and they are
going to be assimilated into American society, into the ideas of freedom and
equality for women and men, and for tolerance and pluralism."

Biden:
Israel offers 'comprehensive' new ceasefire deal
01 June
2024
US
President Joe Biden says that Israel has offered a "roadmap" to end
its nearly eight-month war genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza
Strip.
Biden
announced in a speech from the White House on Friday that Israel's three-stage
offer would begin with a six-week phase that would see Israeli forces withdraw
from all populated areas of Gaza.
"Here's
what it would include: a full and complete ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli
forces from all populated areas of Gaza, release of a number of hostages, including
women, the elderly, the wounded, in exchange for (the) release of hundreds of
Palestinian prisoners," he stated.
Biden’s
speech came after US Foreign Secretary Antony Blinken acknowledged that the
humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory remained "dire."
The US
president called on Hamas to accept the ceasefire offer.
"It's
time for this war to end, for the day after to begin," he said, adding:
"We can't lose this moment" to seize the chance for peace.
Hamas
welcomes Biden's speech
The
Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said in a statement that it “views
positively the contents of President Joe Biden's speech today, 31/05/2024, in
which he called for a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of occupation forces
from the Gaza Strip, reconstruction, and the exchange of prisoners.”
“We
consider this American position and the reinforced conviction on the regional
and international stage of the necessity to put an end to the war on Gaza to be
the result of the legendary steadfastness of our struggling people and their
brave resistance,” it added.
Hamas
“reaffirms its readiness to engage positively and constructively with any
proposal based on a permanent ceasefire, complete withdrawal from the Gaza
Strip, reconstruction, the return of displaced persons to all their homes, and
a serious prisoner exchange deal, provided the occupation declares its explicit
commitment to this.”
‘Israel
using truce talks to press ahead with aggression’
Earlier,
the head of the Political Bureau of Hamas said that the Israeli regime was
deliberately prolonging ceasefire negotiations to keep up its genocidal war
against the Gaza Strip.
Ismail
Haniyeh said Israel was "using negotiations as a cover to continue its
aggression.”
He added
that “the resistance factions do not accept to be part of these maneuvers.”
The
regime launched the war against Gaza last October in response to Al-Aqsa Storm,
a retaliatory operation staged by the Palestinian territory’s resistance
movements.
The
Israeli military onslaught has killed at least 36,224 Palestinians, mostly
women and children.
Egypt
and Qatar have been mediating negotiations aimed at conclusion of a ceasefire
agreement following one in November, during which Hamas released 105 of the
captives that had seized during Al-Aqsa Storm.
In early
May, Hamas agreed to another truce proposal enabling cessation of the Israeli
aggression and release of the rest of the captives.

Hamas
condemns US, UK attacks as violation of Yemen’s sovereignty
01 June
2024
The
Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has strongly condemned recent deadly
airstrikes carried out by the US and the UK on Yemen.
In a
statement on Friday Hamas censured the airstrikes as a blatant violation of
Yemen’s sovereignty after American and British warplanes and US warships
targeted the western Yemeni provinces of Sana’a, al-Hudaydah, and Ta’izz,
killing at least 16 civilians and wounding more than 40 others.
The
airstrikes also hit the capital, Sana’a, and the southwestern city of Taiz.
Hamas
also said the attacks are a continuation of Western policy of suppressing the
people who support Palestine.
Following
the attacks, Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement vowed a "painful
response" to the atrocities.
“The
Americans and Britons must have understood how powerful Yemeni strikes will be.
Our ballistic missiles can target desired targets in the sea and in the
occupied Palestinian territories," said Ali al-Qahoum, a member of the
Political Bureau of Ansarullah resistance movement.
Shortly
afterwards, the Yemeni Armed Forces said they had targeted US aircraft carrier
USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Red Sea in response to the deadly American
attacks.
“The
operation was carried out with a number of winged and ballistic missiles,” the
forces’ spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said, noting that “the hit was
accurate and direct.”

31 May
2024
KOTA
BARU, May 31 — The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) has provided
self-service vending machines to 10 Indian Muslim entrepreneurs from the B40
group in the state to help them generate income.
Its

Malaysian
EMT safely evacuated from Gaza Amid ongoing conflict
01-06-
2024
KUALA
LUMPUR: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that all six members of
Mercy Malaysia’s Emergency Medical Team (EMT) have been successfully and safely
evacuated from Rafah, Gaza.
In a
statement today, the ministry reported that the EMT members were evacuated from
the conflict zone in batches, along with other international personnel.
“The
batches departed on May 23, 24, and 28, respectively and finally, the last two
members left on May 31,” read the statement.
The
ministry thanked all the international partners for their full cooperation and
commitment in ensuring the safety of the Malaysians until they left the
conflict zone.
The
statement also urged all Malaysians to refrain from traveling to any conflict
zones.
Thousands
of Palestinians fled the western areas of Rafah after the Israeli army expanded
its incursion into the city on Monday night, May 27.
Among
the victims in Rafah, many Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes that
targeted tents for displaced people in Tal al-Sultan, northwest of Rafah city
centre, a medical source told Anadolu Agency.
Israeli
heavy shelling overnight on western Rafah left medical staff and patients
trapped inside the Tal al-Sultan clinic and the Indonesian field hospital in
the city, witnesses said.
Israel’s
current expansion of its incursion into Rafah brings the Israeli army close to
full control of the border area between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, known as the
Philadelphi Corridor, a demilitarised buffer zone running along the Gaza-Egypt
border.
The
Israeli army has so far seized control of almost two-thirds of the corridor
area as it advances through heavy bombardment and shelling.
Israel
continued its brutal offensive on Gaza despite a United Nations Security
Council (UNSC) resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire.
At least
36,050 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, the vast majority being women and
children, and over 81,000 others injured since October.
More
than seven months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid
a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.
Israel
stands accused of “genocide” at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which
has ordered Tel Aviv to ensure its forces do not commit acts of genocide and
take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to
civilians in Gaza.

PM Anwar
urges caution on calls for Malaysia’s withdrawal from US-led maritime exercise
31-05-
2024
LABUAN:
Malaysia must adopt a rational approach in responding to the calls from
non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to withdraw from a US-led maritime
military exercise that includes the participation of the Israeli army.
Prime
Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised the need for thorough
consideration of the matter and its potential implications.
“Our
stance is firm; no country is as vocal as Malaysia on the Israel issue...we
protest every day.
“We must
act carefully and not be driven by anger sentiments...even during the previous
Perikatan (Nasional) government, an Israeli ship docked at our port.
“When we
took over the government, we were the ones who stopped the Israeli ship from
anchoring, despite facing criticism,” Anwar told reporters after visiting the
Labuan Roll-on Roll-off Ferry Terminal here today.
Anwar
stressed the government’s actions should not compromise the interests of the
people and trade.
“If we
were to follow the suggested approaches, we would need to halt the operations
of companies like Microsoft, Google, Apple and Facebook,” he said.
“Malaysia
will continue to voice out against the cruelty faced by the Palestinian
people,” he added.
On May
30, 15 groups led by the Malaysian chapter of the global anti-Israel movement
Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS Malaysia) issued a joint statement
demanding Malaysia’s immediate withdrawal from the Rim of the Pacific Exercise
(Rimpac), scheduled to take place from June 26 to Aug 2.

Iran
condemns EU sanctions over drone program
June 01,
2024
TEHRAN:
Iran on Saturday criticized the European Union’s imposition of new sanctions on
high-ranking officials and the Revolutionary Guards for supplying drones to
Russia and its Middle East allies.
The EU’s
measures unveiled on Friday target Iran’s Defense Minister Mohammad Reza
Ashtiani and Esmail Qaani, the commander of the Guards’ foreign operations arm,
the Quds Force, among others.
The
sanctions also target an armed forces command center, the head of a state
aviation firm and the Kavan Electronics Behrad company.
The
Islamic republic’s foreign ministry described the move as “regrettable,” saying
they were based on “repeated, absurd, and baseless excuses and accusations.”
“The
European Union... once again resorted to the obsolete and ineffective tool of
sanctions against the powerful Iran,” ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said in
a statement.
The
sanctions forbid any EU citizen or company from engaging in business with the
listed individuals and organizations.
The
United States and its allies including Israel accuse Iran of providing fleets
of drones to its allies in the Middle East, notably to Lebanese Shiite group
Hezbollah and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Kyiv and
its Western allies also accuse Iran of providing Russia with drones for use in
the Ukraine war, a claim the Islamic republic denies.

Jordan
to host emergency Gaza humanitarian response conference
June 01,
2024
DUBAI:
Jordan will host jointly with Egypt and the UN on June 11 an emergency
international conference to boost the urgent humanitarian response for Gaza.
The
“Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza” conference, to be held
at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center at the Dead Sea, will gather
together heads of state and government as well as leaders of international
humanitarian and relief organizations, state news agency Petra reported.
The
meeting aims to identify ways to bolster the international community’s response
to the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, amid UN concerns that
humanitarian aid allowed into the besieged enclave was not getting to civilians
in need.
The
conference aims to outline effective measures and procedures, as well as
operational and logistical needs for this purpose, while seeking commitment for
a collective coordinated response to address the humanitarian situation in
Gaza, Petra reported.
“The aid
that is getting in is not getting to the people, and that’s a major problem,”
said Jens Laerke, spokesman for the UN humanitarian agency OCHA.
“We
continue to insist that Israeli authorities’ obligation under the law to
facilitate delivery of aid does not stop at the border,” Laerke said.
About
2.3 million residents are in extreme need as Israel’s devastating war on Gaza
has resulted in the threat of famine, widespread trauma and unprecedented
levels of destruction, as well as lack of access to food, water, shelter or

Occupied
Jerusalem: Tens of thousands of Palestinians performed Friday prayers in the
blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in the city of Jerusalem, despite the restrictions and
military measures imposed by the occupation police on the doors of the mosque
and the entrances to the Old City.
The
Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that 40,000 people performed
Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite the occupation measures and
restrictions on worshipers' access to the mosque.
The
occupation forces deployed in the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem and set
up barriers, deliberately restricting worshipers, and obstructing their access
to Al-Aqsa Mosque through Al Asbat Gate.
The
occupation forces also prevented a number of Palestinians from reaching Al-Aqsa
Mosque, and arrested some of them.

French

JEDDAH:
Joel Alessandra, the renowned French comic book artist, travelled through Saudi

heritage.
Known
for his innovative use of coffee and watercolors in his drawings, Alessandra’s

Having
visited Riyadh, Alkhobar and AlUla, Alessandra found himself captivated by the

“This

subject was an improvised walk in Al-Balad, based on my sketches from the
afternoon, I reproduced them in watercolor on the screen. Scenes of life in the
street, buildings from past centuries, mosque minarets from the neighborhoods
you pass through,” he said.
For
Alessandra, travel serves as a constant wellspring of inspiration. Drawing from
his experiences across Africa, he said “it is the atmosphere and the people of
a country that shape my way of drawing, my real inspiration is taken on the
ground.”
Reflecting
on his recent visit to the Kingdom, Alessandra said he was amazed by Saudi
Arabia’s burgeoning cultural scene and the enthusiasm for artistic expression
among its youth.
While
Alessandra’s sketches convey a deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s cultural
heritage, he shies away from conveying explicit messages.
“I just
want to convey the emotion felt in front of all the incredible and immensely
rich cultural, architectural, and historical heritage. I am lucky to know how
to draw and show this emotion through my sketchbooks and my books ... I hope
that my readers will also be sensitive to it,” he said.
He said
AlUla left him in awe.
“It
would be difficult to forget the fascination AlUla had on me. The Nabataean
tombs, just imagining a vibrant life there, in the middle of the desert, at
this ancient time is simply incredible.
“Also
imagining that the Roman Empire pushed its armies so far from Italy is
inconceivable.
“But
also the old town with its shaded and covered streets. It is a paradise to
inspire designers,” he said.
Last
year, he ventured out to sketch in the streets of AlUla with female students
from the local art school.
“This moment
is engraved in my memory as these students were attentive and wanted to produce
and learn how to draw their environment. I’m not sure I’ve ever encountered
such a desire among young people in other countries.”
His use
of coffee as a medium adds depth and richness to his artwork, capturing the
nuances of skin tones and desert landscapes.
During
his stay in Jeddah, he conducted workshops focusing on the Francophonie,
bringing together students from various schools to collaborate on a work of
fiction through text and drawings.
Engaging
French school students in a collaborative storybook project, Alessandra
explored a fictionalized journey of Muslim traveler Ibn Battuta in modern-day
Arabia. Through writing and drawing, students reimagined Ibn Battuta’s adventures,
blending elements of history and fantasy.
“The
quest for a key to access the door of time and allow Ibn Battuta to return to
his century, it was very amusing to see how the young people translated this
graphically,” Alessandra said.
On his
growth as an artist, Alessandra said that constant practice was key, and to
aspiring artists, he added: “Draw, draw, and draw some more.”
“Always
have a drawing pad in your pocket and train your hand and mind every chance you
get. While waiting for the bus, at the cafe, during TV commercials, take
advantage of every free moment to scribble in this notebook, there are no
issues, just a few lines for practice,” Alessandra added.

How the
Arabian oryx became a symbol of environmental regeneration in Saudi Arabia
May 31,
2024
JEDDAH:
The Arabian oryx, a desert antelope native to the peninsula, holds immense
cultural significance, evidenced by its many ancient rock-art depictions found
throughout the region. And yet, this distinctive species was driven to the
brink of extinction.
The
Arabian oryx has been rescued from oblivion thanks to the proactive rewilding
efforts of Saudi Arabia’s conservationists — reversing the devastating toll
that years of overhunting and habitat loss has taken on its fragile population.
While
once in critical decline, they can now be found in the wild across Arabia,
including in Saudi Arabia’s historic northwestern AlUla region and the
northeastern reaches of the Kingdom.
Today,
the species is not only a symbol of the heritage of Saudi Arabia and the Middle
East but emblematic of environmental renewal.
Their
numbers had dwindled dramatically over recent decades owing to overhunting,
drought, poisoning, and habitat encroachment as agriculture and human
settlements expanded, depriving them of grazing pasture.
In 1972,
the last wild Arabian oryx was killed by hunters in Oman. Hunters have long
prized the animals for their horns and meat.
To save
the Arabian oryx from extinction, international organizations launched a scheme
to capture wild specimens and establish breeding centers. With their numbers
since restored, groups have been reintroduced into their original habitats.
Saudi
Arabia has played a crucial role by establishing specialized breeding centers
and veterinary facilities for the Arabian oryx. Many have been relocated to
protected areas that best mirror their natural habitats, to help them flourish
in the wild.
The
creation of the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve in 2018 offered an
ideal setting in which the species could multiply. A breeding program
established by the reserve in 2021 resulted in a 60-fold increase in the
Arabian oryx population by early 2024.
Abdulmajeed
Al-Dhaban, deputy executive vice president of operations at the reserve, said
the Arabian oryx’s resilience in its harsh desert habitat is because of its
heat-reflective white coat and ability to go without water for long periods.
In fact,
the species can survive for up to 11 months without drinking water by obtaining
fluids from dew and desert plants.
“The
reserve’s conservation efforts extend across various fronts, including
collaboration with governmental bodies and local communities to develop
regulations protecting the Arabian oryx from poaching and illegal trade,”
Al-Dhaban told Arab News.
“Educational
campaigns raise awareness about conservation, with schools and local
institutions actively involved in educating younger generations.
“Scientific
research and monitoring are supported to better understand the Arabian oryx’s
needs and develop effective protection strategies. Additionally, sustainable
development and ecotourism are emphasized to promote wildlife growth and
provide income for local communities, encouraging responsible resource
management.
“Partnerships
with international organizations further enhance conservation projects, with
local communities actively participating in their implementation and training
programs.”
Meanwhile,
in the Kingdom’s northwest, the Royal Commission for AlUla works closely with
its global network of partners, including the International Union for the
Conservation of Nature, to secure a future for the Arabian oryx.
“We work
with experts in the field to ensure scientifically sound conservation
practices, which form the backbone of RCU’s multifaceted approach to protect
the Arabian oryx alongside other native species of animals including different
species of gazelles and ibex,” Stephen Browne, executive director of wildlife
and natural heritage at the RCU, told Arab News.
Last
year, the RCU carried out its largest animal release since its reintroduction
program was launched in 2019. Held over five phases, 1,580 animals, including
Arabian gazelle, sand gazelle, Arabian oryx, and Nubian ibex, were released
into AlUla’s nature reserves.
“Since
then, we have seen successful births of Arabian oryx in AlUla’s nature reserves
as populations grow and take hold in their new environment, proving that our
restoration efforts are slowly coming to fruition,” said Browne.
“As more
Arabian oryx are released into the wild, and more births recorded, it is hoped
that AlUla’s nature reserves can support growing numbers of this important
native species.”
The
revival of the Arabian oryx is a part of a concerted, long-term effort by
conservation groups, national rewilding programs, and zoos to establish and
slowly increase breeding populations before their eventual reintroduction into
the wild.
“The RCU
releases Arabian oryx into AlUla’s network of nature reserves as part of its
comprehensive rewilding strategy that is helping to restore balance to the
natural world and revive once-degraded ecosystems,” said Browne.
“Teams
from RCU’s wildlife and natural heritage department work to strict guidelines
established by our international partners, the International Union for the
Conservation of Nature, to ensure all our efforts in the wild are both
scientifically sound and follow clear conservation practices.”
Arabian
oryx are being reintroduced into AlUla’s nature reserves to help restore the
ecological balance. “A total of 250 animals have been released so far,” said
Browne. “It is hoped that numbers will increase as populations establish
themselves and more wild births are recorded.
“We
identify key areas with the correct type and amount of vegetation to support
newly-released animals, and to make sure we aren’t over-releasing new
populations into one location.
“Arabian
oryx have quite specific habitat requirements. They don’t like the steep
canyons and mountains found in some of AlUla’s nature reserves and prefer more
open, sandy areas.
As a
result of releasing the Arabian oryx, we have seen native plants and vegetation
rebounding and soil being restored.”
He
added: “Our conservation work in AlUla focuses on inclusive initiatives that
engage with local people, with community members offered opportunities to train
as rangers to keep our vast reserves safe, secure, and monitored.”
The RCU,
with its sustainable land-management programs, rehabilitate degraded sites,
manage rangelands, and combat desertification, supporting the return of native
species like the Arabian oryx.
Its
partnership with the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Royal Reserve Development
Authority has strengthened collaboration on wildlife protection and sustainable
regeneration.
Restoring
natural habitats includes the extensive planting of native species of flora —
with seeds from the RCU’s seed bank and plant nursery aiding the long-term
recovery of vegetation across the landscape.
The RCU
has therefore played a key role in regreening the valleys, wadis, and mountains
of AlUla, replenishing the soil, and making the environment more hospitable and
fertile for animals.
In
AlUla’s nature reserves, populations of Arabian oryx and other animals are
monitored using satellite-linked collars and tracking technology. More than 150
rangers, all drawn from the local community, carry out regular patrols to
ensure the safety of animal populations.
The
people of AlUla have always enjoyed a deep connection with their natural
surroundings, said Browne. “Our ongoing work to regenerate AlUla and restore
much-needed balance to natural areas aims to reinvigorate this long-standing
and important bond with nature.”
The RCU
prioritizes ecological awareness and engagement, from the work of conservation
rangers and efforts to regreen AlUla’s nature reserves with native plant
species, to educating farmers and locals about the benefits that wild animal
populations can bring to the ecosystem.
Ultimately,
said Browne, the RCU aims to revive and maintain the natural environment for
future generations.
“We
share a deep respect for the traditional practices and ideas that have shaped
the environmental views and principles of our community.”

Afghanistan highlights the necessity of strengthening Tajikistan’s borders and
taking other measures to ensure regional stability.
According
to the TASS news agency, Andrey Belousov said on Friday, May 31, at a meeting
of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization (CSTO) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, that Afghanistan remains the primary
source of instability in Central Asia.
He was,
recently appointed as the Russian Defense Minister, and stated that numerous
“radical” groups had gained a foothold in Afghanistan and were increasingly
striving to promote their ideas in neighboring countries.
He

groups into Central Asia.
Russian
officials’ warnings about terrorist activities in Afghanistan continue as
Russia seeks to expand relations with the Taliban and considers the option of
removing this group from the list of terrorist organizations.

Two 'BLA
terrorists' linked to barbershop workers' killing in Gwadar arrested
May 31,
2024
Two
suspects have been arrested for alleged involvement in the killing of
barbershop workers in Gwadar, Balochistan Home Minister Zia Ullah Langau said
on Friday.
As per a
Counter Terrorism Depertment (CTD) official, the suspects belong to banned
terrorist outfit, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Earlier
this month, seven labourers from Punjab, who worked at a barbershop in the
coastal town, were shot dead in their sleep in a gun attack on their
residential quarters near the Gwadar Fish Harbour in the Surbandar area by
unidentified men.
“I
congratulate all our institutions who fulfilled their responsibility and the
government’s orders with their efforts and we have arrested two killers of the
Gwadar labourers,” Langau said while addressing a press conference in Quetta.
As per
the statements taken from the suspects, the minister said, they were given
orders to kill any Punjabi labourer.
He
further stated that guns and weapons had been seized from the arrested
suspects.
Langau
lamented thousands of lives lost due to terrorism in the country, and that the
government can’t see its people being killed anymore.
He said
that innocent citizens were being targeted in militant attacks, which he said
were aimed at deteriorating the peace and security situation in the province.
“Terrorists
have nothing to do with our rights. We will go an extra mile for those speaking
up for the rights of Balochistan,” Langau added.
The
minister said that the federal government would reach out to the Iranian
government on cross-border attacks, as the foreign ministry was holding talks
over the cross-border attacks from Iran.
He said
that the country would not compromise its sovereignty.
Meanwhile,
sharing details on the arrest, Balochistan Counter Terrorism Department (CTD)
Deputy Inspector General Aitzaz Goraya revealed that the two suspects were
members of BLA. He said that they were arrested from Gwadar.
As per
the police, the slain labourers belonged to district Khanewal and Mian Chunnu
of Punjab.
After
the attack, the home minister had ordered an investigation into the matter,
terming it “open terrorism”.

2024
Reacting
to a post sharedon the PTI founder Imran Khan’s X handle, Defence Minister
Khawaja Asif Friday advised the incarcerated former prime minister to keep his
"mouth shut" if he wanted to reduce the prevailing political tensions
in the country.
"I
think founder PTI wants to increase tension," said the minister in an
exclusive interview with Geo News in the wake of the controversial social media
post shared on Khan's official X — formerly Twitter — account.
A post
on X was attributed to the former premier said: "Every Pakistani should
study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report and get to know who was the true
traitor, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman."
Asif
said the former prime minister, who remains incarcerated at the Adiala jail
since August 2023, is trying again to create a situation like that on May 9.
The
minister, commenting on the video in question, said attempts are being made to
retract the tweet related to the former Bangladeshi president.
"Barrister
Gohar [Khan] clarified that the social media team did not seek permission
before tweeting," said the minister, adding that this was the first time
that the party had to retract a post on their social media account.
Asif
said he has a different stand on the history of the Bangladeshi politician and
the tragedy of East Pakistan.
"By
exaggerating the tragedy of East Pakistan today, you want to increase the
tension," he said, slamming Khan and his party.
The
minister maintained that whether it was in politics or sports, the former
premier had stung everyone who had done good to him.
"General
[Qamar Javed] Bajwa's father, General Faiz [Hamid] was his uncle, now [he is]
dumping all the debris at them," said Asif, commenting on Khan's
relationship dynamics with the former military men when he was in power.
Meanwhile,
the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) cyber crime team on Thursday decided
to initiate action against Khan over his controversial tweet on social media.
To
pursue an investigation, the anti-crime body reached Adiala jail late Thursday
night, but was turned down for a meeting by Khan.
According
to the sources within Adiala jail, the former prime minister refused to become
part of the FIA investigation related to the controversial social media post.
Khan refused
to answer any questions from the FIA team, said the sources. "I will
answer any question in the presence of lawyers," he added.
On the
other hand, PTI Chairman Gohar said that the post had nothing to do with Khan
as he did not see the text of the posts that were uploaded to his account.
Gohar
also defended the tweet and said it was taken out of context.
"The
context and comparison that we drew with 1971 was in a political context and
not otherwise — nothing about the army," the PTI chairman said.

Kabul to
cooperate in Bisham attack probe: FO
June 1, 2024
ISLAMABAD:
The Foreign Office on Friday said that the Taliban administration in
Afghanistan had assured Pakistan of its cooperation in investigation into the
Bisham suicide attack in which five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani
driver lost their lives.
“The
Afghan side has agreed to examine the findings of the investigation and to work
with Pakistan to take the investigation to its logical conclusion,” FO
spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said at the weekly media briefing.
She was
responding to a question about the visit of a high-level delegation led by
Interior Secretary Khurram Agha to Kabul. At the talks, Deputy Taliban
Interior Minister Muhammad Nabi Omari and Mr Agha led their respective
delegations.
Interior
secy shares proof with Taliban officials during visit to Afghanistan
The
spokesperson said, “Yesterday’s meeting was focused on the (Bisham) terror
attack and the government of Pakistan shared concrete evidence … our focus was
to request the Afghan side to apprehend the perpetrators in light of the shared
evidence”.
Beijing
welcomed the progress in the investigations and urged Pakistan to get to the
bottom of the incident and hunt down and bring to justice all the perpetrators.
The
delegation travelled to Kabul ahead of PM Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to
China, where the Chinese leadership is expected to strongly raise the issue of
safety and security of the Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
Cross-border
militancy has emerged as a major irritant in ties between Islamabad and Afghan Taliban
after the latter seized control of Kabul in 2021.
Despite
Pakistan’s repeated pleas for taking action against the banned
Afghanistan-based TTP and other militants, the Taliban administration has
continued to look the other way. This forced Pakistan to carry out air strikes
against suspected hideouts inside Afghanistan in March.
The
spokesperson, however, noted that Islamabad and Kabul have robust channels of
communication on terror threat that Pakistan faces from groups, which have
hideouts and sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.
