Mahmood Madni, Chief Of Jamiat Ulema-a-Hind Accuses Supreme Court Of Bias, Says Oppression Triggers Jihad

30.11.25

Mahmood Madni

---------

Mahmood Madni, chief of Jamiat Ulema-a-Hind, on Saturday accused the Supreme Court of working under government pressure to undermine minority rights and declared that oppression would trigger “jihad”, drawing a sharp reaction from the BJP.

that the courts have been functioning under government pressure for a few years now. The court is hearing Gyanvapi (mosque) and Mathura (Krishna Janmbhoomi) cases while ignoring the (Places of) Worship Act,” Madni said at the national governing body meeting of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, an association of Muslims, in Bhopal on Saturday.

“The Supreme Court is eligible to be called supreme only when it follows the Constitution and when it upholds the law. If it doesn’t do that, it doesn’t deserve to be called supreme,” he added.

He said the term “jihad” was being misused to malign Muslims, stressing that it means a “struggle against oppression”, adding: “Jab jabzulmhoga, tab-tab jihad hoga”.

BJP spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra said the “inflammatory” speech “reflects a malicious attempt to push the country towards division”.

“His remark that ‘zulm hone par jihad hoga’ is extremely inappropriate because, in the name of jihad, terror and violence have been spread not only in India but across the world, and in such a context, the mention of jihad in India is an irresponsible statement,” Patra said.

Patra accused Madni of an “attempt to undermine the judiciary” and urged the Supreme Court to take cognisance and act against the Jamiat head.

Madni said a particular community was being targeted. “There are bulldozer actions, mob lynching, seizure of Waqf properties and negative campaigns against madrasas to undermine their religion and identity. This has made Muslims feel unsafe,” he said.

Pakistan Accused Of State-Sponsored Killings As Bodies Of Three Disappeared Baloch Men Found In Kech

Nov 30, 2025

Balochistan [Pakistan] November 30 (ANI): At least three bodies of Baloch men who had earlier been reported as victims of enforced disappearance were discovered in Kech district, Balochistan, on Friday, the latest addition to a grim pattern of extrajudicial killings and state-linked abductions, as reported by The Balochistan Post.

According to The Balochistan Post, one of the victims, identified as Imran, son of Nadil and a resident of Gomazi, was found dead in the Tump Gomazi area. His body bore multiple bullet wounds. Locals allege that Imran had been seized by members of pro-government militias, commonly referred to as "death squads," that operate with impunity in the region. Witnesses stated that around 2 a.m., armed men belonging to one such militia stormed a house in Tump Gomazi, breaking its boundary wall before abducting Imran. His relatives later received calls from unidentified individuals demanding a ransom of 20 million rupees, allegedly warning that failure to pay would lead to his execution. "The family said they could not afford the amount, and days later, Imran's body was recovered," journalist Saeed Buzdar stated.

Family members further claimed that Imran had previously been taken into custody by Pakistani security forces and their allied groups, during which he was brutally tortured before being released. In another tragic incident, two more bodies were recovered from the D. Baloch area of Turbat and later transported to Turbat Teaching Hospital. Hospital sources confirmed the victims as Abubakar, son of Hasil, from Khairin Bal-Nigwar, and Tahir, son of Allah Bakhsh, from Sholi, Dasht. Residents alleged that both men had been missing for weeks, adding that the condition of their bodies suggested they had been held in dark confinement, as highlighted by The Balochistan Post.

The discovery of these bodies highlights persistent allegations of systematic human rights abuses in Balochistan. Rights groups and activists have long accused the Pakistani state of orchestrating enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings to stifle the Baloch nationalist movement. Despite widespread criticism and international concern, Pakistan has rarely addressed such reports publicly. Investigations, when conducted, seldom result in prosecutions, leaving families of the disappeared to suffer in silence and fear, as reported by The Balochistan Post.

Pope Leo XIV removes shoes but declines to pray in visit to Istanbul's Blue Mosque

Christian Borbon

November 30, 2025

Pope Leo XIV visited the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the “Blue Mosque.”

X / Vatican news

-------------

Pope Leo XIV, on his first official visit to a Muslim place of worship as leader of the Catholic Church, toured Istanbul's famed Blue Mosque on Saturday in a high-profile gesture aimed at promoting interfaith respect.

The pontiff, the first US pope in history, removed his shoes as a sign of respect before entering the sprawling 17th-century mosque, which can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers, and was led on a 20-minute tour by the mosque's imam and the mufti of Istanbul.

While the Vatican had earlier indicated the Pope might observe a 'brief moment of silent prayer,' Pope Leo did not appear to pray. An imam from the mosque, AsginTunca, confirmed he had invited the Pope to pray, calling the mosque "Allah's house," but the offer was declined.

Instead, the visit was marked by quiet observation. The Holy See Press Office stated that "The Pope experienced the visit to the Mosque in silence, in a spirit of recollection and attentive listening, with deep respect for the place and for the faith of those who gather there in prayer."

Walking in white socks, Pope Leo smiled and bowed slightly before entering the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, as it is officially known, and was seen joking with the lead muezzin—the official who performs the daily calls to prayer.

This visit follows a tradition established by recent popes. Leo XIV is the fifth pontiff to visit Turkey, tracing the footsteps of Paul VI (1967), John Paul II (1979), Benedict XVI (2006), and Francis (2014) in making a respectful gesture to Turkey's Muslim majority. The mosque, completed in 1617 by Sultan Ahmed I, is considered one of Istanbul's most important religious sites.

Terrorists Now Target Crowds, Not Religions —  Nigerian Muslim Rights Concern Warns

November 29, 2025

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has warned that terrorists are no longer targeting specific religious groups but are instead focusing on attacking large crowds.

The alert was issued in a statement signed by MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, and made available to journalists on Saturday.

Akintola explained that current findings show terrorists are not deliberately targeting Muslims and their mosques or Christians and their churches. Instead, he said, they have developed what he described as a “crowd mentality.”

He noted that this crowd-driven approach stems from the belief that people often feel safer or more comfortable in crowded spaces—whether for worship, social activities, or entertainment—making such places easy targets.

According to him, terrorists now strike locations with large gatherings to maximise casualties or orchestrate mass kidnappings for higher ransom payments.

Akintola stressed that this pattern explains why schools, churches, and mosques are frequently attacked, emphasizing that the motive is primarily economic rather than religious.

“In the midst of a prolonged and extensive national conversation on the controversial Christian genocide narrative, we find it apt to propound a theory of ‘crowd mentality’ to further enrich the national thought process.

“Having engaged in debates severally on the subject matter and deliberated on the motivation for attacks on mosques, churches and schools, we have come to the conclusion that terrorists and bandits are not actually targeting Muslims and their mosques or going after Chriatians and their churches, they have only developed a ‘crowd mentality.

“Crowd mentality’ is a situation where people look for or feel more comfortable or safer in crowded places either for attacks or entertainment. For terrorists, targeting places where people assemble in large numbers is for the purpose of maximizing ransom or ensuring high death toll. This explains why they often attack mosques, churches and schools. It is not religion. It is the quest for wealth.*

“Terrorists are not interested in religion. All they want is to maximise the amount they can collect as ransom when a large number of people are kidnapped and the best place where they can find people in large numbers are mosques, churches and schools. It is ‘crowd mentality’.

“Entertainers and musicians will not show interest in performing where there is no crowd. They lose appetite for singing or dancing in quiet lanes and deserted streets but their spirits rise when the ovasion is loud from the crowded audience. It is ‘crowd mentality’.

“Whereas the Christian genocide narrative is pregnant with emotions, offensive and lacks objectivity, the ‘crowd mentality’ theory is more liberal and less offensive to any group. It admits that Muslims, Christians and even schools are being attacked. Of course no rightful thinking person can deny this.

*“Think about this: has any terrorist gone into an empty mosque in Nigeria to attack it? Have they entered an empty church to stage an attack? What of empty schools and classrooms? Have they attacked any school during the holidays or at a weekend? They won’t do that because the school will be empty! The church is not the target. The mosque is not the target. The Muslim is not the target and the Christian is not the target. What they want are human beings for ransom. Think about it.*

*‎‎”Neither is there any truth behind what is referred to as ‘targeted killing of Christians’. What happens is that terrorists have a ‘crowd mentality’. They look for any place where they can get the largest number of people at a time. They want to attract maximum publicity in order to embarrass the government of the day.*

“But at the same time they want to make as much money as they can. It is just natural that mosques, churches and schools come to their minds. These are the places where people must congregate daily and weekly. They want to score the highest casualty figure possible in order to strike terror into the hearts of the people.

“If the theory of crowd mentality sits down well with Nigerians, we will understand what is going on and we will stop accusing one another of targeting each other. Terrorists seek to divide Nigerians along religious lines but we can defeat them by applying better and higher intellect.

“It is a matter that requires the application of our reasoning faculty. We do not need America to do that for us. Let the Federal Government, the Muslims and the Christians sit down together and find a way to make churches, mosques and schools safer. We will run the terrorists out of business in no time at all. ‘Many receive advice, only the wise profit from it’ (Proverbs 13:10).

The return of Rama: A 500-year-old struggle that restored the prince of Ayodhya

Nov 29, 2025

Awadh was aghast. The city collapsed like a lamp about to lose its flame. Men, women and children followed him as though Ayodhya itself was walking away. They did not see a prince going to the forest, it was like something being forcefully torn away with the strings of hope that he might stay hanging loose. The moment he stepped away, the capital of the Kosala kingdom felt emptied of life. This is how Maharishi Valmiki portrays Ram’s departure for his 14-year vanvas in Treta Yuga.

The grief that filled Ayodhya in Valmiki’s verses did not stop at the edge of the forest. It travelled through centuries. It lived through kingdoms, invasions and courtrooms. It became devotion and politics. It became movements and marches. The 500-year-long Ram Janmabhoomi struggle was never just about land. It was about bringing Ram back. This time in Kaliyuga.

He did return. On January 22, 2024, when the consecration ceremony of the deity was held. What was once a memory in scriptures and prayers finally took form in stone and light. The temple that had lived in longing now stands as faith fulfilled, and a civilisation reclaimed what it never stopped believing was its own.

November 25, 2025, marked the final milestone with the completion of the temple and a “Dhwajarohan” event, attended by PM Narendra Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Addressing a gathering after the flag hoisting event on November 25, the Prime Minister stated that today the city of Ayodhya is witnessing yet another pinnacle of India's cultural consciousness.

"This Dharma Dhwaja is not merely a flag, but the flag of the renaissance of Indian civilisation," he said, explaining that its saffron colour, the glory of the Solar dynasty inscribed upon it, the sacred Om depicted, and the engraved Kovidar tree symbolise the greatness of Ram Rajya.

The story that had begun 500 years ago with the desecration under Mughal invader Babur slowly entered courtrooms, legal arguments and the political landscape. Each petition was an echo of a civilisational longing. Every verdict and every stay order became footsteps in a centuries-long journey.

Ayodhya did not forget. Neither did the people who came on foot from distant villages, nor the saints who guarded the belief like a flame, waiting for the Ram Lalla's temple to rise again.

The struggle took different shapes over the centuries. Mahant Raghubir Das and others filed suits not for power or land, but for the right to worship. The movement was still quiet then, but the silence was deceptive. The devotion was gathering strength!

The story did not begin with courts or politics. It began in the sixteenth century when the temple at Ram Janmabhoomi was torn down, and a mosque was constructed under Babur’s general, Mir Baqi.

The temple was demolished, but the faith was not. Hindus continued to worship at the site. The belief that this was Ram’s birthplace never broke. It lived through devotion, pilgrimage and collective memory.

Several works in Arabic, Persian, and Urdu discussed the demolition of the Ramjanmabhumi temple and its replacement by Babri Masjid.

In the book "The Ayodhya Temple-Mosque Dispute: Focus on Muslim Sources" by Harsh Narain, there's a mention of Al-Hind-u fi al- ‘Ahd al-Islami (India in the Islamic Era) by Maulana Hakim Sayyid Abd al-Hayy, which was translated into Urdu by Maulana Shams Tabriz Khan, under the title Hindustan Islami Ahd mein.

Pakistan’s Top Economic Body Under Fire As IMF Questions Transparency, Military Influence

By: Manoj Gupta

IMF has also urged Pakistan to publicly declare the SIFC’s annual performance, complete with verifiable details of the investments it claims to have facilitated. IMF officials are said to be concerned that the SIFC, which functions without constitutional protection, is not in a position to take responsibility for the economic impact of its decisions.

n investment, the SIFC has struggled to bring in meaningful capital. According to the top source, the council has failed to secure any major foreign business deals or attract significant FDI for three consecutive years.

Foreign investors remain wary of Pakistan’s political instability, heavy taxation and inconsistent regulations. As a result, several multinational companies, including Procter & Gamble, Pfizer, Shell, Telenor, Uber, Careem, Sanofi-Aventis and Eli Lilly, have exited the market, compounding the country’s economic woes.

Another major concern flagged by observers is the growing military involvement in the country’s economic decision-making. The SIFC, co-chaired by Field Marshal Asim Munir, functions as an executive body where military leaders exert considerable influence over large-scale business decisions.

An IMF-linked source warned that this dynamic could “lead to disaster" in the future, as no institution will ultimately accept responsibility for the consequences of high-risk policies shaped under pressure.

Finland to shut its embassy in Pakistan, saying ‘our operating environment is changing rapidly’

by Anamika Sinha

November 30, 2025

Finland has announced a major change in its diplomatic network, confirming that its embassies in Islamabad, Yangon and Kabul will be shut down in 2026 as part of a broader reorganisation of its missions abroad. The restructuring marks one of Finland’s most crucial diplomatic shifts taken in recent years.

As per the ministry, the restructuring aims to strengthen Finland’s presence in strategically crucial regions while reducing its presence in areas where political conditions or commercial engagement have remained limited. The review also considered Finland’s security policy objectives and the needs of Team Finland, the country’s export promotion framework.

Foreign Minister ElinaValtonen stated the reform was important to ensure Finland’s external engagement stays effective and future-ready. “We will systematically develop Finland’s network of missions abroad to meet future challenges. Our operating environment is changing rapidly,” she stated. She further added that the changes would help Finland “build a stronger and more competitive” presence abroad.

Pakistani lawmaker claims Imran Khan is alive as son Kasim Khan demands ‘proof of life’

Nov 30, 2025

Amid the rumours about former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan's death, a lawmaker from the leader's party has claimed that Khan is alive in Adiala Jail, but is under pressure to leave the country. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Khurram Zeeshan's remarks come as Imran Khan's son Kasim Khan and family demand ‘proof of life’ of the former Pakistani leader.

Over the past week, Imran Khan's son and sister have demanded proof that the ousted prime minister is alive. The demand comes amid speculation that Khan has died or been killed during his time in prison.

"My father has been under arrest for 845 days. For the past six weeks, he has been kept in solitary confinement in a death cell with zero transparency. His sisters have been denied every visit, even with clear court orders allowing access. There have been no phone calls, no meetings and no proof of life. Me and my brother have had no contact with our father," Kasim said on Friday.

Speaking to ANI, Zeeshan refuted the rumours regarding Khan's death and stated that he remains lodged in Adiala Jail. He added that the former PM has been kept in isolation as a tactic to pressure him into leaving Pakistan.

Lebanon’s Islamic Group denies involvement in Beit Jinn incident in Syria

29/11/2025

The Islamic Group in Lebanon has expressed surprise at Israel dragging its name into what it called the Israeli “attack” on the Syrian town of Beit Jinn (a town in the southwestern countryside of Damascus, near the occupied Syrian Golan Heights), denying Israeli accusations that it carries out any activities in the town.

The Islamic Group, according to a statement published on its website on Friday, 28 November, rejected having its name used in any acts it has nothing to do with, denying that it has any activity outside Lebanon.

It also condemned the “Israeli aggression” on the town of Beit Jinn and its peaceful residents, extending condolences to the families of the victims from among the town’s people.

The Group stressed its commitment to what the Lebanese state has committed to in the ceasefire agreement with Israel, noting that it operates under the “authority of law and institutions”.

The Islamic Group is a Sunni Islamist movement considered one of the political forces in Lebanon. It was founded in 1956 by Faysal Mawlawi and FathiYakan, who was influenced by the thought of the Muslim Brotherhood and its leading figures in Syria and Egypt.

Christian Genocide Conspiracy: The North is being set up against itself

By Publisher

November 29, 2025

By Prof. Usman Yusuf

I have seen, lived and benefited from a Nigeria led by patriotic and selfless leaders that cared deeply for the country and its citizens; they managed the country’s diversity and resources with the fear of God.

A few days ago, my friend and I were reminiscing about our good old days in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria from 1976 to 1982. We remembered coming from all four corners of this beautiful land, from the edges of the Sahara in the north to the creeks of the Niger Delta in the south. Ours was a beautiful mosaic of humanity. Our parents sent us to ABU Zaria to mix with and learn from each other, an experience that has enriched our lives immeasurably.

Fast forward to today’s Nigeria, where there is mayhem and mistrust all across the land. Today, we are told we are enemies because we look, dress, eat, talk, and worship differently. But we that have lived through a better Nigeria know differently, for we are a true testament to a very long history of tolerance among people in this land.

That is why I am deeply pained and saddened by all the toxicity created by the conspiracy of genocide of Christians in northern Nigeria.

Now is the time to dispense with all political correctness in order to set the record straight for posterity. We, Nigerian Muslims cannot be blackmailed, intimidated, demonized, defined by or put on the defensive by the insensitive and irresponsible false narrative of genocide of Christians in Nigeria that is propagated by enemies of Islam, Muslims and our dear country, Nigeria.

The goal of these bigoted, ungodly and unpatriotic merchants of falsehoods who are doing the bidding of their Islamophobic foreign masters is to break up Nigeria by instigating a religious war between Muslims and Christians in northern Nigeria.

Since English is not my first language, I looked up the universal definition of genocide by the United Nations. The definition reinforces my belief that there is a lot more to these clumsy lies than meets the eye. It is a word that is recklessly and mischievously used to smear Nigerian Muslims for ulterior motives.

Genocide is defined as the deliberate and systematic killing or persecution of a large number of people from a particular national, ethnic, racial, or religious group with the aim of destroying that nation or group.

The five acts defined as genocide are killing members, causing serious bodily or mental harm, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction, imposing measures to prevent births, and forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

The systematic campaign of calumny against Islam and northern Nigerian Muslims in particular is not new. I witnessed it first hand at an international forum where I first heard and saw the extent of these lies and hatred when I represented His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the 2nd Annual International Religious Freedom (IRF) Summit in Washington, DC, on June 28-30, 2022.

Christians in the north will do well to resist the temptation of getting sucked into this “genocide” dummy sold to them by mischievous, hateful interlopers with a secessionist agenda whose kinsmen have for generations been living and benefiting from the generosity and hospitality of Muslims in the region. To do anything differently will amount to playing a dangerous game of Russian roulette.

To dwell on discussing these falsehoods is to dignify them and distract Nigerians from the real issue, which is the abysmal failures of the government, whose primary responsibility it is to protect all citizens.

Muslims in the north have been and continue to be the biggest victims of terrorists and terrorism in Nigeria. Still, they are being blamed, demonized and profiled for the government’s failure to protect all.

We, Muslims in the north, are burying our dead every day all across the region in prayerful and dignified silence. We do not use the names or images of our loved ones killed in violent attacks for propaganda or to attract donations from international donors, nor do we publicise the names of victims or their sufferings in the media for global attention or sympathy.

Shettima Tasks Young Scholars to Preserve Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s Message of Tolerance

DejiElumoye

30-11-2025

Vice President KashimShettima has tasked emerging Islamic scholars across Nigeria and Africa to preserve and propagate the enduring message of tolerance, dialogue, and inclusivity exemplified by the late renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.

He specifically said the late Tijjaniyya leader’s commitment to dialogue and inclusivity represents the true heritage of Islam that must guide future generations.

The Vice President, according to a release issued by his Media Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, gave the charge yesterday after attending the burial ceremony of the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi in Bauchi, Bauchi State, where he described the passage of the cleric as a monumental loss not only to Nigeria but to the global Muslim Ummah.

He said, “This nation has lost a colossus—an institution and one of the last great titans of Islamic scholarship. We call on our emerging scholars to embrace the path of dialogue, moderation, accommodation, and inclusivity, because this is the true heritage of Islam—not fanaticism, not extremism.”

Archbishop Adewale Martins: Mass  Abduction of School Children in Nigeria is Troubling

30-11-2025

Insecurity in Nigeria has grown so severe that it now poses a major national concern, threatening the very fabric of our existence. Hardly a day passes without reports of violence, destruction, or loss of life. Over time, these incidents have taken on a troubling pattern, often leaving churches and Christian communities at the receiving end—raising both national and global alarm. While some describe the situation as persecution, others view it as “genocide,” underscoring its urgency. In this exclusive interview, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Alfred Adewale Martins, reflects on the escalating crisis. He warns that the mass abduction of school children is deeply troubling and reflects a broader failure to protect citizens. He stresses that Nigeria’s insecurity persists largely because of a lack of political will, urging leaders to take decisive action to safeguard lives and restore public confidence. Ferdinand Ekechukwu and Sunday Ehigiator bring the excerpts.

There have been allegations about  Christian genocide in Nigeria, which has raised debates across divides. Given your position, do you think there is Christian genocide in Nigeria?

Well, I think that the discussion around whether there is genocide or not is such that it is capable of covering the real major issue. The word genocide is not the same as the word rain, for example. Genocide has a definition that is as different from the word rain as everybody can say there is no controversy around it. I think it is more useful not to focus on the word and leave out the issues. I believe that the major issues around it, we want to know what the facts are, what is the truth of the situation in our country. I think that if people are talking about persecution of Christians, there is a context to it which I think is important in the whole discussion. I mean, we had a time when Ibrahim Babangida was president of this country and he smuggled Nigeria into the Organisation of Islamic Countries. That is the context in which we are talking about persecution in Nigeria. We have had the fact that efforts have been made to put the Sharia law into the constitution of Nigeria. These efforts have been going on and they have not ended. We have the fact that there are some states in Nigeria that have Sharia law in implementation and it is still there today. Even though Nigeria is a secular state, these efforts have been made, and those states that have introduced the Sharia law, they are states that also have people of other religions. So this is the kind of context in which people are talking about genocide or no genocide. As I said, I don’t want to get involved in the use of the word, but I think we are talking about the fact that people feel persecuted. I mean the present insecurity and killings that we have now. You remember that it started many years ago and it was only churches that were being attacked. It was only Christian institutions that were being attacked. And it went on for a while until at some point in time, I think because people were beginning to get conscious of the fact that only churches were being attacked, then there were attacking of other institutions, mosques and the rest of it. When you go to the beginning of these insecurity, you find out that it started with attacks on Christian institutions. So, and unfortunately also, we find out that even these attacks as it is today, especially on the Christian, they are oftentimes in places that are populated mostly by Christians. I’m talking about Benue, Plateau States in particular and other similar states. So, all of these give impression that there is an agenda against Christians. We know too that when these peoples are attacked in their villages, they are forced to go to Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs’) camps. They remain in IDP camps for years, while their villages are either left uninhabited or even inhabited by bandits. They cannot go back to their homes, simply because bandits have made it unlivable for them there. And those places are populated mostly by Christians. So, all of these naturally leave quite an impression. You also remember the fact that in parts of the north, you couldn’t build a church ordinarily on your own. We have reports that you can’t build, not because you don’t want to build, but because you don’t get the approvals that are needed from civil authorities. All of these contexts naturally leave a great impression that there is a problem with Christians and Christianity, or there is a problem for Christians and Christianity in those areas of the country. I can also say that when these people are driven from their homes and their homes are occupied by either bandits or make it impossible for them to go back, it naturally leaves a lot to be desired. then, of course, let’s talk about all the issues. Of course, about a month ago, we heard of some effort to, as it were, introduce or, is it even to inaugurate, some economic strategy. Economic strategy has a name that naturally will bring some concern to people. If you call it the National Halal Economy Strategy, naturally, it rings a bell in the minds of people when all of these other situations are already happening around us. So, I think that it is necessary not to get bogged down by the words, but rather to face the issues and be able to come to an understanding of what exactly is happening among us. Thank God that economic strategy was put on hold. I think that was a very sensitive, I mean, that was a good decision to make. But I think we need to go through the House and the public debate in order to be able to… So, this is a context, I think, in which people feel, in which Christians feel, maybe not even Christians, but Christianity feels it is under persecution.

United States President Donald Trump recently redesignated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” after the Biden administration removed Nigeria from the list. How do you respond to Trump’s stance?

Well, again, calling us a ‘country of particular concern’ has its own implications. But I think what is even more important is that the addition of our country, again, should simply make us to wake up to the needs to do something about what brought it up in the first instance. Obviously, President Trump has his own ways of expressing his thoughts and feelings and desires and how he wants to do it and all of those things. But I think from a patriotic point of view, you feel uneasy that he’s speaking about us in that way. You feel uneasy, you feel, we’re an independent country, why is he talking about us like that? But at the same time, we need to look at the context and see what we are going to do in order to get out of that situation. I think that’s more important than to be bogged down by what he calls us and what he doesn’t call us.

Still within the context of insecurity, Nigeria has witnessed multiple mass abductions of schoolchildren recently. What aspect of this tragedy troubles you the most?

India, Bangladesh need to cooperate on ‘grey areas’ in Bay of Bengal maritime boundaries

KallolBhattacherjee

November 29, 2025

India and Bangladesh resolved maritime boundary issues but there are “grey areas” in the maritime boundary that pose challenges to authorities on both sides and call for closer coordination, said a leading maritime expert and consultant here earlier this week. Speaking to The Hindu, Joshua Alexander, founder of Maritime Frontiers, an Australian ocean and maritime consultancy who provided technical expertise to Bangladesh on maritime issues said that during the Hasina years Bangladesh dealt with the threat of piracy near the Chittagong port effectively which has increased its attractiveness to the global shipping industry.

“It was quite interesting to see that Bangladesh and India were willing resolve their dispute on maritime boundaries. They both went to a tribunal and agreed to abide by the decision of the tribunal. But the boundaries that have been agreed are not really simple,” said Mr. Alexander who worked during 2009-‘21 on maritime issues with the Government of Bangladesh. A UN Tribunal on the India-Bangladesh maritime boundary dispute in 2014 awarded Bangladesh 19,467 sq. km of the 25,602 sq km sea area of Bay of Bengal.

Hamas: Zionist Decision to Seize Inner Courtyard of Ibrahimi Mosque is Blatant Aggression

30 Nov 2025

Doha– Saba:The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned the Zionist enemy's decision to seize the inner courtyard of the Ibrahimi Mosque, deeming it a blatant aggression against the sanctity and religious significance of the site, and part of an ongoing plan to Judaize Islamic holy sites and alter their features within the context of the enemy's escalating religious war.

In a press statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Hamas stated that this measure falls within a systematic policy to impose complete control over the Ibrahimi Mosque.

Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood Networks’ Ties Fractured as Millions of Dollars Earmarked for Gaza Missing

Waseem Abu Mahadi

11/29/2025

A sprawling fundraising scandal is convulsing Islamist circles from Istanbul to Amman after allegations that nearly $500 million collected in the name of Gaza never reached the Strip. The money ended up under the control of Muslim Brotherhood-linked networks operating across Turkey and Jordan, triggering an unusually public rupture with Hamas.

Hamas abruptly distanced itself from a cluster of longstanding pro-Gaza charities, accusing them of acting without authorization, exploiting outdated endorsements, and channeling donations through opaque structures that bypassed the movement’s oversight. The announcement sent shockwaves through the wider Islamist ecosystem, where fundraising for Gaza has long served as both a political project and a moral rallying cry.

During the war months, people in Gaza developed a deeply negative view of anyone raising money in their name. They have seen cases of sudden, extreme wealth built on the suffering of Gaza’s residents.

“During the war months, people in Gaza developed a deeply negative view of anyone raising money in their name,” Mansour Abo Kareem, a Gaza-based political researcher, told The Media Line. “They have seen cases of sudden, extreme wealth built on the suffering of Gaza’s residents.”

The scandal began when a young Palestinian activist posted online allegations that a prominent Istanbul-based charity had commandeered donations meant for Gaza. Within hours, the claims triggered a regional firestorm. Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood—an international Islamist movement banned in Egypt but influential across the Middle East—defended the charity. Critics amplified suspicions of financial misconduct, and social media platforms became battlegrounds for conflicting narratives.

The dispute escalated rapidly. Screenshots, leaked messages, and competing denunciations spread across Arabic and Turkish digital spaces. When prominent Islamist figures began weighing in behind the scenes, the controversy broke out of activist circles and entered mainstream political debate.

In January 2024, Hamas issued a statement disavowing three organizations: Waqf Al Umma, Minbar al-Aqsa, and Kulna Maryam, along with seven of their administrators: Saeed Abu al-Abd, Fouad al-Zubaidi, Samir Said, Abdullah Samir, Khaldoun Hijazi, Ahmed al-Omari, and Zaid al-Ais.

Hamas asserted that these institutions had become unregulated, seized by individuals exploiting outdated endorsements to collect donations in a manner detrimental to the people of Gaza and Jerusalem.

Pope Leo visits Blue Mosque in Turkiye’s Istanbul

By News Agencies

29 Nov 2025

Pope Leo XIV has visited Istanbul’s famed Blue Mosque on the third day of his trip to Turkiye, his first known visit as leader of the Catholic Church to a Muslim place of worship.

The first US pope bowed slightly before entering the mosque early on Saturday and was led on a tour of the expansive complex, able to hold 10,000 worshippers, by its imam and the mufti of Istanbul.

Leo, walking in white socks, smiled during the 20-minute visit and joked with one of his guides, the mosque’s lead muezzin – the official who leads the daily calls to prayer.

“He wanted to see the mosque, he wanted to feel the atmosphere of the mosque, and he was very pleased,” AskinTunca, the Blue Mosque’s muezzin who calls the faithful to prayer, told reporters.

Tunca said after the mosque visit that he asked Leo during the tour if he wished to pray for a moment, but the pope said he preferred to just visit the mosque.

Israel is turning the screws on Hezbollah

November 29, 2025

The killing of Lebanese Hezbollah military chief Haytham Ali Tababtabai by Israel this week reflects how much the balance of power between Jerusalem and the Iran-backed Shia Islamist group has shifted since the year-long war between the two in 2023 and 2024. Yet, paradoxically, Tabatabai’s killing also shows that nothing has been finally settled between the two enemies.

While Hezbollah has now been shown to be much weaker than Israel, it nevertheless remains stronger than any internal faction in Lebanon, including the official Lebanese government. The practical consequence of this is escalation: Hezbollah is seeking to repair…

Shafie declares Warisan Sabah’s strongest force after sweeping popular vote; denies post-poll talks to form govt

By Julia Chan

30 Nov 2025

KOTA KINABALU,Nov 30 — Warisan has proven it is the strongest Sabah-based political force, based on its performance in yesterday’s state election, Datuk Seri MohdShafieApdal said today.

“As a solo party, Warisan received the most votes, which we feel cut across all races, but especially from the Chinese community,” he told reporters in a post-election session this afternoon.

He said Warisan was successful in securing the highest number of votes as a single party – 288,703, compared to the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition’s 286,389 – despite facing what he described as rampant money politics and state and federal government machinery.

He said Warisan’s mandate was built on its long-held position that Sabah must be led by local parties that understand local priorities, even while remaining open to cooperation at the federal level.

Shafie also emphasised that he had not met with any political leaders last night to negotiate the formation of the next government, but stopped short of conceding Warisan will play the role of Opposition in the state legislative assembly.

“I swear on God’s name, I did not meet with anyone, no meetings, no discussions, no negotiations,” he said when pressed about last night’s political alignments that went on well after midnight.

Urban Renewal Bill ready to be retabled in Dewan Rakyat next week, says housing minister

30 Nov 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) is ready to re-table the second reading of the Urban Renewal Bill (URB) 2025 at the Dewan Rakyat sitting next week.

However, Minister NgaKor Ming said the move is subject to the decision of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his capacity as Leader of the House.

“KPKT is fully prepared to proceed with the second reading of the Bill, but this is subject to the decision of the Leader of the House to determine the most suitable slot within next week’s tight Dewan Rakyat schedule,” he told reporters after attending the URB Premier Dialogue here today.

On August 28, the Bill was tabled for second reading at the Dewan Rakyat but was not debated before being deferred to the current sitting.

Earlier, in his keynote address at the dialogue, Nga said urban renewal should not be viewed solely from the angle of aesthetics or physical development, but as a moral responsibility to save lives and safeguard the basic safety of the people.

‘No exemption’ for lawyers: MACC rejects claims of intimidation in Albert Tei probe

By Malay Mail

30 Nov 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today refuted claims by rights group Lawyers for Liberty that its notice to lawyer Mahajoth Singh, representing businessman Albert Tei, was unlawful.

The commission said that its summons was issued under Section 30(1) of the MACC Act 2009, which grants it the authority to require any person to attend and produce documents or recordings relevant to an investigation.

It stressed that lawyer–client privilege as raised by Lawyers for Liberty earlier today, does not excuse the lawyer from appearing before investigators or shielding materials unrelated to legal advice.

“Thus, the allegation of intimidation is baseless. The notice is a routine statutory process and in no way interferes with the lawyer’s ability to represent his client,” it added.

Pope Leo follows papal tradition with Blue Mosque visit

29/11/2025

Pope Leo XIV visited Istanbul’s iconic Blue Mosque on Saturday, echoing similar trips by past pontiffs. Previous papal visits to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, as it is officially known, signalled respect for Turkey’s Muslim majority. However, the visit drew backlash from a small nationalist minority, FRANCE 24’s Jasper Mortimer said, noting that only 40 protesters gathered in the city of 16 million.

The Kremlin’s Monument War: Rewriting History in Occupied Ukraine

by Korbinian Leo Kramer

Nov. 30, 2025

Russia is systematically remaking the symbolic landscape of occupied Ukrainian territory, tearing down or sidelining Ukrainian memorials while erecting its own monuments that fuse KyivanRus, WWII and the modern invasion into a single “Russian” story.

Research by historian YuriiLatysh for Novaya Gazeta Europe has shed light on how the new memorials present Russia’s war as the latest chapter in a centuries-long struggle for “Russian land” – and as proof that these regions have “always” belonged to Moscow.

The scale of altered, dismantled and newly erected monuments across occupied territories is so extensive that a comprehensive listing is no longer possible.

In occupied Donetsk, the Kremlin is using newly built memorials to recast slain separatist commanders as martyred defenders of “Russian Donbas.”

On Nov. 2, occupation authorities unveiled a new memorial complex at the city cemetery known as “Donetsk Sea.” The site features a ceremonial alley leading to a black-granite stele crowned by the Archangel Michael and inscribed “In memory of the defenders of Donbas,” flanked by granite slabs bearing the names of separatists who fought for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), and a large mosaic icon of the Mother of God titled “Unbreakable Wall.”

The site has been transformed into a carefully choreographed stage, designed to project sacrifice, imperial continuity and manufactured heroism.

Muslim group demands answers on UC Berkeley’s cooperation with federal antisemitism probe

By Sierra Lopez

November 29, 2025

BERKELEY — Concerned that the rights of students and faculty have been violated, a national Muslim civil liberties organization has requested UC Berkeley turn over any information it has on its cooperation with a Trump administration investigation into antisemitism on campus.

A California Public Records Act request was filed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ San Francisco Bay Area office on Nov. 21 in response to the university’s sharing of 160 students, staff and faculty names as part of the federal probe.

“UC Berkeley’s decision to hand personal information about its own community members to the federal government is a grave breach of trust, particularly in this political climate,” said Jeffrey Wang, the nonprofit’s civil rights managing attorney in a statement.

The U.S. Department of Education and Department of Justice have been investigating the University of California since early 2025 to determine whether the university system was discriminating against students, staff and faculty by permitting antisemitism on campuses, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release.

Universities across the nation have been targeted with similar investigations following large student protests demanding institutions cut academic and financial ties to Israel. The demonstrations, including student occupations of campus buildings and encampments, were prompted by the Israel-Hamas war, which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 70,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis, according to the Associated Press.

Prime Minister Mark Carney tells Canadians: US tariff will wipe $50 billion from Canada's economy, and for you ...

Nov 30, 2025

Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada is counting on the country's energy sector to help the Canadian economy weather uncertainty from the US President Donald Trump’s tariffs. Carney signed an agreement with Alberta's premier that rolls back certain climate rules to spur investment in energy production, while encouraging construction of a new oil pipeline to the West Coast. Under the agreement, the federal government will scrap a planned emissions cap on the oil and gas sector and drop rules on clean electricity, in exchange for a commitment by Canada's top oil-producing province to strengthen industrial carbon pricing and support a carbon capture-and-storage project.

Carney is seeking to diversify from the US market which currently takes 90 per cent of Canada’s oil exports. In remarks at an industry event in Calgary recently, Carney said that US tariffs and the resulting uncertainty will wipe $50 billion from Canada’s economy, the equivalent of $1,300 for every Canadian. He stressed the need to build projects that can spur growth and reduce US reliance. “This government will do whatever it takes to protect our sectors,” Carney told a news conference. “Not just protect them, but to help them reposition for the new global economy,” Carney said.

The energy deal, which has been reportedly hailed by the country's oil industry but panned by environmentalists, signaled a shift in Canada's energy policy in favor of fossil fuel development and is already creating tensions within Carney's minority government. Steven Guilbeault, who served as environment minister under Carney's predecessor Justin Trudeau, said he was quitting the cabinet over concerns that Canada's climate plan was being dismantled. In what is seen as a huge change in policy, Canadian PM has relaxed some environmental restrictions implemented by his predecessor, Justin Trudeau, while reaffirming his commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Agreement also drops regulations for clean electricity. Canada seeks to diversify oil exports amid US trade uncertainty. Agreement removes emissions cap, aims to boost carbon pricing and storage.

In what can be termed as tacit acknowledgment that a trade deal with the United States is increasingly unlikely, Prime Minister Carney introduced several measures Wednesday to keep afloat two industries severely harmed by President Donald Trump's flurry of tariffs: steel and lumber. Carney's move includes a new tariff on steel products, a reduction in the amount of foreign steel allowed into the country and a lowering of costs to move lumber and steel by rail.

'Detrimental to US interests': Donald Trump justifies 'third world' migration ban amid asylum appeals; cites law

Nov 30, 2025

US President Donald Trump on Sunday justified his stance on a permanent pause on migration from all “third-world countries” by citing Section212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

“Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate,” said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.

Section212(f) authorises the president to suspend entry of “any aliens or of any class of aliens” if their admission is deemed detrimental to US national interests.

Trump has doubled down and remains firm in his stand, despite appeals from multiple United Nations (UN) agencies, including its human rights office, urging the US administration to continue allowing asylum seekers. His previous posts on X also warned of measures including denaturalisation of migrants who “undermine domestic tranquility,” ending federal benefits for non-citizens, and deporting foreign nationals considered a “public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.”

The administration has already taken concrete steps consistent with the freeze. USCIS Director Joseph Edlow confirmed that asylum officers have been instructed to halt issuing decisions until “enhanced vetting can be completed for every applicant,” citing public safety as the top priority. The US State Department, led by secretary Marco Rubio, simultaneously paused visa issuance for all travellers holding Afghan passports, describing the move as a security measure. “The United States has no higher priority than protecting our nation and our people,” Rubio said.
