Abstract:

The article explains that divine books were revealed to guide humanity and improve society. They all teach justice, goodness, and the removal of social evils. Books like the Torah, Gospel, and Psalms clearly warn against bad habits such as hypocrisy, miserliness, backbiting, and lying. These evils harm trust, relationships, and peace in society. The teachings encourage people to act with honesty, sincerity, and kindness. They also stress helping the poor and avoiding showing off. The article highlights that modern society often ignores these moral teachings and follows selfish desires. It concludes that true peace and harmony can only be achieved when people follow these teachings and remove social evils from their lives.

Main Points

·         Divine books guide humanity towards justice, goodness, and removal of harmful social evils in society.

·         4- Hypocrisy and showing off are discouraged because they destroy sincerity and reduce the value of good deeds.

·         Miserliness prevents people from helping others and fulfilling their social and moral responsibilities properly.

·         Backbiting and lying damage trust, relationships, and create conflict, confusion, and injustice in society.

·         Following divine teachings helps build peaceful, honest, and strong societies based on truth and compassion.

For the guidance of humanity and the welfare of society, Allah sent prophets and revealed scriptures and books. The purpose was to promote justice, goodness, and righteousness in society.

Divine books such as the Qur’an, Torah, Gospel, Psalms, and the scriptures of Abraham all carry a similar message. When we study them, we find that they all focus on human welfare and the removal of social evils. They remind people again and again to understand their responsibilities and play a positive role in building a better society.

Sadly, today’s society often ignores religious morals and human rights and follows selfish desires instead. However, the teachings of earlier divine books about removing social evils are clear and strong.

Removal of Social Evils

The Torah, revealed to Prophet Moses, gives clear guidance about removing social evils. Similarly, the Psalms, revealed to Prophet David, also speak against such evils. For example, about hypocrisy it says:

“I will not sit with hypocrites.” (Psalms 26:4)

The Gospel also strongly discourages showing off:

“Do not do your good deeds to be seen by others. Otherwise, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. When you give charity, do not announce it like hypocrites do in public places to gain praise. Instead, give secretly, and your Lord who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:1–4)

Miserliness

Miserliness is another serious social evil. It prevents people from fulfilling the rights of others. The Torah discourages this behaviour:

“If there is a poor person among your people, do not harden your heart or close your hand. Instead, give generously and help them in their need.” (Deuteronomy 15:7–10)

Backbiting and False Accusations

Backbiting is a harmful social evil that damages respect and trust in society. The Torah, Psalms, and Gospel clearly forbid it.

The Torah says:

“Do not give false testimony against your neighbour.” (Exodus 20:16)

The Psalms say:

“You speak against your brother and accuse your own family.”

“Whoever secretly slanders his neighbour will be destroyed.”

The Gospel says:

“People will be held accountable on the Day of Judgement for every careless word they speak.” (Matthew 12)

Lying and Its Effects

Human society is built on truth, trust, and honesty. Lying weakens both individuals and society. When lying becomes common, trust disappears, relationships break, and respect declines.

Lies lead to cheating, injustice, and confusion. In courts, false testimony harms justice. In society and politics, lies mislead people and create disorder. On the other hand, truth brings peace, stability, and progress.

Earlier divine books clearly forbid lying. The Torah says:

“Do not spread false reports or support wrongdoing.” (Exodus 23:1)

Another verse says:

“Do not steal, do not cheat, and do not lie to one another.” (Leviticus 19:11)

The Psalms also warn:

“Those who speak lies will be destroyed.”

“A person who plans evil falls into the trap he has made himself.”

After studying the teachings of earlier divine books, it becomes clear that removing social evils is very important. All religions teach that peace in society can only be achieved when evils like lying, hypocrisy, and backbiting are removed.
