A27-year-old girl, engaged in modelling, died under mysterious circumstances, after being abandoned at a private hospital in Bhopal allegedly by her live-in Muslim partner prompting the girl’s family to level serious accusations against the man of Love Jihad and murder.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Khusbu Ahirwar alias Khushi Verma hailed from Mandi Bamora in the Sagar district of the state. She had been living in Bhopal for the past three years and pursuing her modelling career with assignments of various local brands and walking the ramp in fashion shows.
On Monday, her alleged live-in partner, identified as Kasim Ahmad, abandoned her at Chirayu Hospital located on the Bhopal-Indore road and fled the scene. The doctors declared Khusbu dead after a check-up and also informed the police.
A police team reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem to the Hamidia Hospital. The girl’s family rushed to Bhopal after receiving the news about her death. Illegal Weapons Handed Out To Women In ‘Safety Bags’ At Anti-Islam Rally In Belfast
November 11, 2025
Illegal ‘knuckleduster’ weapons were handed out in free “safety bags” given to attendees at an anti-Islam rally.
The rally was organised by the Pink Ladies Ulster Women First Northern Ireland, which says it aims to “protect the rights of women and children”.
However, the majority of speakers at the rally focused on anti-immigrant and anti-Islam rhetoric, including one speaker who led a chant of “f*** Islam”.
The Belfast city hall rally was attended by several well-known figures within the anti-immigration movement in the north, including a former UVF bank robber.
Those in attendance at the rally were provided with pink “safety bags for women”, which included torches, make-up, whistles, as well as pink knuckledusters, which are classed as an offensive weapon in the UK.
The weapons are defined in law as “a band of metal or other hard material worn on one or more fingers, and designed to cause injury”.
The sale, importation, manufacture, supply and possession of the offensive weapons in either public or private is prohibited under the Offensive Weapons Act.
The Pink Ladies group, which organised the rally, is the latest in a network of similarly named groups, which are coordinated via social media, which have sprung up in other parts of the UK.
The group’s badge contains a Northern Ireland flag along with the slogan ‘Ulster Women First’.
A statement from the PSNI said it was “aware” of the illegal items being handed out and is making enquiries.
A spokesperson said officers were in attendance at the rally and are now “reviewing evidence gathered”.
Chloe Trew, director of Belfast-based human rights organisation Participation and Practice of Rights, said handing out the weapons was “extremely concerning”.
“It’s extremely concerning to learn that any kind of violence is being promoted by the handing out of weapons, particularly at a time when Black and Minority Ethnic communities are already experiencing the highest levels of racially motivated violence on record,” Ms Trew said.
“We know also that women are in fact much more likely to be subjected to abuse and violence by someone they know within their own home. A better focus for people’s efforts would be to campaign for proper prevention, prosecution and sentencing of gender based violence and the systems which enable it.”

Social Media: The Unyielding Stronghold of Women Resisting the Taliban
Shafiqa Mohammadi
November 11, 2025
Women in Afghanistan, in recent years and following the restrictions imposed by the Taliban, have chosen social media as a stronghold for resisting injustice. Some of these women say that social media is one of the most powerful tools for resistance, asserting their presence, raising awareness, and conveying the voices of marginalized women of Afghanistan to the world. According to these women, social networks have enabled the world to learn about the oppression, discrimination, and violence that women currently face. They describe the role of certain platforms, including Facebook, X, and Instagram, as valuable in informing the public and supporting women’s activism. Meanwhile, social media has also created opportunities for intellectual growth and education for women alongside their struggles.
Women’s engagement on social networks has become one of the most important means of communication with society and with countries outside Afghanistan under the current circumstances. Social media has made it possible for women inside and outside Afghanistan to share their personal experiences, describe their living conditions in society, raise their voices in defense of their rights, and protest against injustice and discrimination to protect their human dignity. Restrictions, suppression, threats, humiliation, and the removal of women’s physical presence from public life throughout the past four years of Taliban rule have compelled them to shift their physical and social forms of resistance to online presence on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X.
Raheel Talash, a member of the Afghanistan Women’s Justice Movement, says she began using social networks around a decade ago. She adds: “At that time in Baghlan Province, having Facebook or other platforms with a girl’s name and photo was considered shameful and unacceptable, but despite opposing views, I was writing and posting about issues such as forced marriage and menstruation from that same year.”
Talash also adds that social media, especially under the current circumstances in which women have been deprived of all their rights inside the country, serves as a bridge connecting women inside Afghanistan with the world. She, who has repeatedly been threatened and humiliated by the Taliban due to her activism and anti-Taliban posts, considers social media “the only channel through which I can protest against this group,” and believes that if people, especially women, are deprived of access to social networks, Afghanistan will fall into a real abyss. According to Talash, Facebook and Instagram have played a stronger role than other platforms in informing the world about women’s resistance.
Social media has also fostered networks of support among women inside and outside Afghanistan, which has in turn created a form of solidarity among women. According to women activists, in the past four years, Facebook, X, and Instagram have played a central role in the struggles of women in Afghanistan.
Zarifa Yaqubi, a human rights activist, says about the role of social networks in women’s activism: “At a time when women are deprived of many of their basic rights, social media has become a vital tool for protest, solidarity, and raising awareness. In the absence of free media, these platforms have created a space where women can express realities and inform the world and human rights supporters of the situation.”
Ms. Yaqubi adds that social networks play a crucial role in coordinating and sustaining women’s activism, and in the absence of free space for gathering and organizational or in-person work, women use these platforms to connect. They support one another and coordinate their protest activities through these spaces.
Alongside activism, social media has also provided an educational space for thousands of girls deprived of schooling inside Afghanistan, and has contributed to the personal and intellectual development of women. The campaigns launched on X for the right to girls’ education, as well as the “#NoToGenderApartheid” campaign initiated by women on X, are examples of how women have used social networks to fight for their rights.
Suhaila Kaamili, a human rights activist and a member of the Afghanistan Women’s Justice Movement, says in this regard: “Social media plays a very important role in women’s activism and in amplifying their voices of protest. Through publishing on these platforms, one can expand public awareness and reflect the goals and reasons behind the struggle. The wide dissemination of messages is one of the greatest opportunities that these platforms provide to protesting women.”
She adds that given the broad access of people in Afghanistan and other countries to the internet and social networks, these platforms have created an appropriate environment for publicizing women’s struggle against inequality, violence, and oppression. Social media enables awareness-raising, documenting events and protests, and today nearly anyone can easily use these tools to convey information and messages of protest.
Writing posts, hosting X Spaces, and publishing protest content and videos by women activists under their own names on platforms such as Facebook and X are among the opportunities that social networks have provided for people, especially women.
Parisa Azada, a women’s rights activist, says that after the Taliban’s rise to power and the closure of free media outlets, social media has played a crucial role in covering issues related to women and human rights. She adds, “Women were able to convey their words, their protests, and their voices to human rights institutions through these same platforms. When women could no longer protest in the streets to defend their rights, they posted videos on Facebook, launched campaigns on X, and wrote articles. This enabled global media to gather information by following the social pages of these women.”
It is worth noting that during the four years of Taliban rule, and according to reports by human rights organizations, more than 100 restrictive decrees against women have been issued. Nonetheless, social networks have functioned as a civic space for resistance and for amplifying women’s voices. Women have been able to document human rights violations during this period using these platforms and have used these tools as a stronghold for civil and social resistance.
