The Quantum Mechanics and the Qur’an

The award
of Nobel Prize to a scientist of *Quantum Physics* from Muslim ancestry two
days ago prompted me to speak my apologetic reconciliation of the Quantum
physics and the Quran.
For the
followers of Prophet Muhammad (s), the Qur’an is unique among the scriptures of
the major world religions in its compatibility with the shifts in world-view
that have accompanied major scientific discoveries.
Such a
belief has an underpinning belief that the Qur’an is the immutable and eternal “Objective
Reality” while the “Subjective Reality,” (human meanings or
interpretations from the 6th century onwards) of the immutable eternal Qur’an (“Objective
Reality”) is always moving, contingent, and mutable. So let me come to the topic. For me there is
no conflict between Quantum physics and the Qur’an. Science is a partner not as
an adversary to our faith.
1. Allah is Rabbil Alameen (Lord of the
Worlds) including “Al-Ghaib” (unseen worlds).
2. “Those who believe in unseen (“Al-Ghaib”).
3. According to the Qur’an and the
mathematics used in Quantum Physics, there are Multiple Worlds that exist in
parallel at the same space and time as our own.
4. The multiple worlds of Quantum physics
are existing in a realm hidden (“Al-Ghaib”) from normal visual
perception. It should not surprise readers of the Quran, which repeatedly
speaks of ᶜAlam Al-Ghaib
(the concealed dimension of reality).
5. The nonphysical element in “Al-Ghaib”
the is extremely rich and complex, and corresponds to the part of us that
survives death—the Ruḥ in traditional Islamic cosmology. During life, our Ruḥ makes choices from among the
quantum realities corresponding to our thoughts, and these choices have immense
repercussions for our experience not only of this life, but also at the unseen
world after death.
6. We Muslims have no difficulty accepting
our humble place in this magnificent scheme of Multiple World of Allah (saw) or
science’s the quantum world.
