Only Participating
In Processions, Erecting Green Flags And Playing Naat On DJ Does Not Prove
One's Love Of The Prophet
Main
Points:
1. Love for the
humanity demonstrates one's love of the prophet.
2. Restraint is
what the prophet pbuh observed throughout his life.
3. Extremism
and sectarianism was disapproved by the prophet pbuh.
4. The prophet
pbuh forgave blasphemy.

Come 12th Rabiul
Awwal (Prophet's birthday) and the debate over what the love of the prophet
means. One section of Muslims celebrates the prophet's birthday by
participating in the procession of the prophet pbuh named Juloos-e-Mohammadi by
the Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind before the Independence, erect green flags in the
streets, decorate streets, shout slogans and play Naat cassettes while
the other argues that the day was not celebrated by the Sahaaba ( the holy
companions) nor did the prophet pbuh ask the Muslims to celebrate his birthday
after his physical departure.

The fact
that it is a tradition in all the religions to mark important days in the
history of communities. The Jews, the Christians, the Muslims, Buddhists,
Jains, Hindus and other religions mark birthdays or important days in the life
of their religious personalities or important days and incidents in the history
of the community. The Quran gives hints at the importance of the birthday of
prophet Jesus and the day of his departure to the heavenly abode. The Quran
says:
"Peace be upon me the day I was born, the
day I die and the day I rise back to life."(Maryam:33)
The
Christians celebrate Christmas and Easter to mark important days in the life of
Jesus Christ. And the prophet's birthday has always been marked as Barah Wafat
but it took the form of celebration only after Rajiv Gandhi government declared
Prophet's birthday a national holiday.
Juloos-e-Mohammadi
was revived only two decades ago as a mark of celebration of the prophet's
birthday. There is nothing wrong in celebrating the prophet's birthday but it
should be celebrated with the true Islamic spirit and the way tje prophet
himself celebrated festivals.
Today, the
processions and the behaviour of Muslims does not conform to the Islamic
values. The Quran asks Muslims not to turn Deen into vain entertainment and a
show of vulgarity. The true way of celebrating the prophet's birthday is
serving the poor, offer Namaz five times a day, treat the neighbours
well and give alms and feed the destitute. Muslims should not commit nuisance
by playing Naat or religious songs with DJ and disturb the peace and
sleep of Muslims and non-Muslims.
Islam does
not believe in symbolic show of the love of prophet but demands practical
demonstration of love of the prophet pbuh in all the affairs of life. The Quran
says that the faith of a Muslim is not complete until he considers the prophet
pbuh dearest than his own life. One cannot claim to have the love of the
prophet pbuh if he skips Namaz, oppresses the neighbours, commits bloodshed in
the name of sectarianism and spreads Fasad (mischief) on earth.
Bloodshed
on the grounds of blasphemy in the love of prophet pubh is other practice not
approved by the Quran and the hadiths. The Quran asks the Muslims to observe
restraint in the face of blasphemy and provocation. Nowadays, violence and
massacre of Muslims and non-Muslims take place in the name of the love of the
prophet pbuh. Children are orphaned and women are rendered widows and houses
are destroyed in the name of love of prophet pbuh. Such acts invite the anger
of the prophet pbuh and the wrath of God.
Sectarianism
is another vice that has gripped the Muslim community. The Quran does not
approve of sects in Islam and those who claim to have the true love of God and
his prophet pbuh do not nurture sectarian ideas or boast of their sects.
Sectarian differences divide the community and invites the anger of the
prophet. Out of sectarian differences, Muslims have separated their mosques.
Each sect has its own mosque in which the entry of the followers of other sects
is prohibited. During the prophet's life the Munafiq (hypocrites) had
built Majid Zarar to divide the Muslim community. God forbade the prophet pbuh
from going to the mosque. Muslims of today have their Zarar mosques to divide themselves.
Muslims should ask themselves if the prophet would approve of such mosques.

Jesus
Christ was blessed with the power to heal the sick. Therefore, the Christians
have the same spirit of helping the needy and treating the sick. They build
hospitals, orphanages and schools for the poor and the destitute. The true love
of the prophet pbuh requires sacrifice from Muslims and the spirit of serving
the poor and giving life and not taking life in the name of the love of prophet
pbuh.
Today, the
Muslims are a divided lot because of sectarianism, extremism and waywardness
due to the lack of the love of the prophet pbuh. They have abandoned the
teachings of the prophet pbuh and have turned his Deen into Khel Tamasha
(vain entertainment). They believe that merely shouting slogans, participating
in processions and reciting Naat in hoarse voice with DJ music will earn
the pleasure of God and his prophet pbuh. God and his prophet pbuh are pleased
with only those who obey Him and His prophet in all matters of life, during the
time of war and peace, in joy and sorrow, in good times and in times of
tribulations. One can not claim to have the love of prophet pbuh if he does not
have the love of humanity. God and his prophet ask the Muslims to love humanity
and serve the humanity and give sacrifice for the welfare of humanity.
