Do Not Intellectualize, Philosophize and Divinize Death

By Sumit Paul, New Age Islam

This pertains to Mr Arman Neyazi's piece, Death Is Reunion with The Divine; 'So Do Not Grieve': Conclude Abrahamic And All Other Word Religions

This is easier said than done. Saying 'death is reunion with the divine' is sheer self-deception. It's a psychological lie. The problem with all of humanity is the non-acceptance of death being the end of life and human existence. Remember, the root of all man-made religions and fabricated gods is the fear of death. Humans, however 'evolved' or 'enlightened' they may be, have always been fearful of death. What happens after death has always troubled, frightened and intrigued all of us without an exception. So, a very foolish and ridiculous belief was concocted that death is not the end but the continuation of our existence. Utter rubbish!

Who has seen, witnessed or experienced that eternal existence after death? Who has had a reunion with divinity? These are eschatological beliefs which have no scientific basis. You may call them bogus theological speculations sans any proof.

Religion and god have emasculated humans to the extent of making them unable to face the reality of not just death but of many things. Accept death to be the end of life, the irreversible cessation of all biological functions that sustain a living organism.

If death is the union with the divine, why do we talk so much about it and remain in the penumbra of death forever? Because, somewhere we all are aware that it's a humongous lie and the meeting with the divine after death has a Placebo Effect on our mind and body. It mitigates the fear of death to some extent. Humans are the biggest self-deceivers? Benjamin Franklin aptly observed," Who has deceived thee as often as thyself? " We deceive ourselves and also deceive others when it comes to death. We naively try to spiritualize and divinize death. We philosophise and intellectualise it, but to no avail. Death continues to scare and intrigue us because we also know that nothing exists after it. In short, there's no remnant of existence once you're gone forever.

There's no god, no Afterlife or Hereafter. That's for the suicide bombers and Jihadis who're deceived into blowing up themselves by the cunning clerics and their dubious holy books expecting to meet Allah, Muhammad and a host of eternally youthful and callipygian houris who're endowed with gravity-defying bosoms. Sorry, death ends everything. Someone rightly said, " Look forward to with no hope/ Once you kick the bucket, you dope."
