I read your article today on the ignorance of the media about the Muslim issues. I liked it. Really the media does not raise our issues.

Yes, it’s right, then?

Then why don’t we buy a media?

Sir, media is not something to be bought, a Media house is established.

Then go ahead and estabilish a media house. What’s the problem. How much money is required. Whatever is required will be provided to you.

This was a conversation that I had with an Urdu reader. Now read about another conversation:

Today I read your article on Swami Asimanand’s confession. It was good.

Thank you.

But Anjum bhai, the Muslim youth Abdul Kalim whose behaviour stirred the consience of Aseemanand and made him to confess was released.

Yes, it is a matter of pleasure that an innocent youth was released from jail.

But why was he released so hastily.

What do you mean?

I meant that if he had remained in the jail for some more days, he would have awakened the conscience of some others as well and they would also have made confessional statements.

Any way, it is a good development that an innocent man was released and charges for bomb blasts made against him were taken away.

No sir, I think there is some conspiracy in it. Why on earth was he released so early.?

These two conversations reflect the mentality of a section of the Muslim youth. It often happens. Readers call you after reading your article and express their views on it. Generally these calls are made by semi literate or illiterate Muslims. Sometimes educated people also express their views. But they express their views through SMS instead of wasting their time on calls and whatever they say have some weight. They do not adopt an emotional approach. But whenever semi-literate Muslims express their feelings, it is emotional. They adopt a negative approach on every issue and call the world their enemy as if the power to think positively has been seized. If the national media ignores our problems, they will not try to contact them and convey to them their views. Though this is not an easy task. Media will not listen to you instantly. It is a time consuming process. But you should keep knocking their doors whether they listen to you or not. It is not that everyone in the media is our enemy. Many people are our well wishers as well and raise our issues. But their number is low and their hands are tied with the policies of the organization they work with. However, we should try and reach such people. Secondly, establishing a media house is not so easy. One of the callers said ‘Then why don’t we buy a media house’ in a way as if he was saying ‘take five rupees and get some chocolates’. There is no denying the fact that today a media house of the Muslims is the need of the hour so that the propaganda war that has been waged against the Muslims and Islam can be fought and the growing trend of Islamophobia can be stopped.

But it is not easy and running a media house is not like running a small shop. It needs big investment and big investors but till now Muslim billionaires have not got that zeal to establish a media house for the Muslims. Many things are said in this regard and people feel the need too. But neither in India nor in the Muslims world has anyone who can fulfill this need. Many generous individuals who donate generously for other religious purposes which is commendable but there is need to think about it too. The spirit shown by Rahmat Bhai is praiseworthy but this task cannot be accomplished by spirit alone but resources are also needed. And this can be achieved when spirit and resource come together.

As for the other caller, this has become an integral part of our psyche to express doubt over each and every issue. If innocent youth like Abdul Kalim are incarcerated, it is a great injustice. But trying to find out the germs of anti-Muslim feelings in if they are released is very unrealistic and unwise. It is important that an innocent person was released. The loss of his educational career cannot be compensated but he can at least resume his education. Wronged parents have got their son back and most importantly the stigma of terrorism has been removed from his forehead. In this situation to say that he should have been kept in the jail for a longer time so that he could have stirred the conscience of some other terrorists is extremely foolish. Are the Muslim detainees responsible for awakening the conscience of people? Do justice and law exist in the country? After all, human beings have conscience, their own way of thinking and someone’s conscience can wake up anytime. Actually we Muslims have this problem to find a negative aspect in every issue. We should pay attention to positive issues. Negative thought is our biggest enemy. We have to fight this enemy. We should change our way of thinking and adopt a positive approach. And it can be possible only when we march ahead in the field of education and equip our youth with both the traditional and religious education. We won’t be able to remove this cobweb of negativity until the light of education illuminates our minds. Therefore, we should prepare ourselves for the battle against this enemy of ours.

‘کیا انجم بھائی بول رہے ہیں؟’’

 ‘جی ہاں! فرمائیے’’۔

 ‘میں رحمت بھائی بول رہاہوں ممبئی سے’’۔

 ‘جی کہیے کیا خدمت کرسکتا ہوں؟’’

‘آج آپ کا مضمون پڑھا مسلم مسائل سے میڈیا کی بے توجہی کے معاملے پر۔ بہت اچھا لگا۔ میڈیا تو ہمارے معاملات کو اٹھاتا ہی نہیں ہے’’۔

‘جی ہاں یہی بات ہے ،پھر’’ ۔

 ‘پھر ہم شکایت کرنے کے بجائے کوئی میڈیا خرید کیوں نہیں لیتے ہیں؟’’

‘جناب میڈیا خرید ا نہیں جاتا بلکہ میڈیا ہاؤس قائم کیا جاتا ہے۔’’

‘تو بنا لو نہ ایک میڈیا ہاؤس ،کیاپریشانی ہے، کتنے پیسے لگیں گے ؟ جو بھی لگے دیا جائے گا’’۔

‘ آپ کام کیا کرتے ہیں رحمت بھائی؟’’

 ‘انجم بھائی ممبئی میں میری فرنیچر کی دکان ہے’’۔

یہ تھا ایک مکالمہ جو ایک اردو قاری کے ساتھ ہوا۔ اب ایک او رمکالمہ ملاحظہ فرمائیں:

‘سہیل انجم صاحب بول رہے ہیں؟’’

 ‘جی ہاں بول رہا ہوں ’’۔

‘آج آپ کا مضمون پڑھا اخبار میں سوامی اسیما نند کے اقبالیہ بیان پر ،بہت اچھا لگا’’

‘جی شکریہ’’۔

‘لیکن انجم! وہ مسلم نوجوان عبد الکلیم تو رہا کردیا گیا جس کے اخلاق سے متاثر ہوکر اسیمانند نے اقبالیہ بیان دیا ہے اور جس نے سوامی جی کے ضمیر کو بیدار کیا تھا’’۔

‘خوشی کی بات ہے، ایک بے قصور نوجوان جیل سے رہا ہوگیا’’۔

 ‘لیکن اسے اتنی جلدی رہا کیوں کردیا گیا؟’’

‘کیا مطلب’

‘مطلب یہ کہ وہ اگر کچھ دن اور جیل میں رہتا تو دوسروں کے ضمیر کو بھی بیدار کردیتا اور دوسرے بھی اقبالیہ بیان دے دیتے’’۔

‘لیکن بہر حال یہ اچھی بات ہے نہ ایک بےقصور کو رہا کردیا گیا اور اس پر سے بم دھماکہ کرنے کا الزام بھی ختم ہوگیا’’ ۔

‘نہیں جناب مجھے تو اس میں کوئی سازش نظر آتی ہے۔ آخر اسے اتنی جلدی کیوں رہا کردیا گیا؟

یہ دونوں مکالمے آج کے مسلم نوجوانو ں کے ایک طبقے کی ذہنیت کی عکاسی کرتے ہیں۔ ایسا اکثر ہوتا ہے کہ کسی مضمون کی اشاعت پر قارئین کا فون آتا ہے اور وہ اپنے اپنے انداز میں رد عمل کا اظہار کرتے ہیں۔ عموماً یہ فون کال کم تعلیم یافتہ یا ناخواندہ مسلمانوں کی طرف سے آتی ہیں۔ کچھ تعلیم یافتہ حضرات بھی رد عمل ظاہر کرتے ہیں۔ لیکن وہ فون کال پر اتنا وقت ضائع کرنے کی بجائے ایس ایم ایس سے اپنے خیالات کی عکاسی کرتے ہیں اور جو لوگ ایسا کرتے ہیں ان کی باتوں میں کچھ نہ کچھ سنجیدگی ہوتی ہے اور وہ محض جذباتی انداز نظر اختیار نہیں کرتے۔ لیکن کم تعلیم یافتہ یا ناخواندہ مسلمان جب بھی رد عمل ظاہر کریں گے تو وہ بے حد جذباتی ہوگا۔ وہ ہر معاملے میں منفی زاویہ نظر اپنائیں گے اور پوری دنیا کو دشمن بتائیں گے ۔ مثبت انداز میں سوچنے کی صلاحیت جیسے صلب ہوگئی ہے۔ اگر قومی میڈیا مسلمانوں کے مسائل کے تئیں بے توجہی کا مظاہرہ کرتا ہے تو ہم اس کی کوشش نہیں کریں گے کہ اس سے رابطہ قائم کریں اور اس تک اپنی بات پہنچا ئیں۔

حالانکہ یہ کام آسان نہیں ہے۔ میڈیا فوری طور پر آپ کی بات نہیں سنے گا ۔ یہ بہت صبر آزما کام ہے۔ وہ آپ کی بات سنے یا نہ سنے ،آپ کو اس کے دروازے پر دستک دیتے رہنا چاہئے۔ ایسا نہیں ہے کہ میڈیا میں موجود تمام لوگ ہی ہمارے دشمن ہیں۔ بہت سے لوگ ہمارے خیر خواہ بھی ہیں اور وہ ہماری بات اٹھاتے بھی ہیں۔ ہاں یہ بات الگ ہے کہ ایسے لوگوں کی تعداد زیادہ نہیں ہے اور ان کے ہاتھ اپنے ادارے کی پالیسیوں سے بندھے ہوتے ہیں۔لیکن بہر حال ہمیں ایسے لوگوں تک پہنچنے کا اپنا کام کرتے رہنا چاہئے۔ دوسری بات یہ کہ میڈیا ہاؤس قائم کرنا اتنا آسان نہیں ہے۔ اول الذ کر کالر نے اس انداز میں کہا کہ‘‘ تو پھر کوئی میڈیا خرید لیتے ہیں ’’ جیسے کہہ رہا ہو کہ لو پانچ روپے بازار سے بتاشے لے آؤ’’ ۔ اس میں کوئی شک نہیں کہ آج نہ صرف ہندوستان میں بلکہ پوری دنیا میں مسلم میڈیا  ہاوسز کی ضرورت ہے تاکہ اسلام اور مسلمانوں کے خلاف عالمی سطح پر جو پروپیگنڈہ کیا جارہا ہے اس کا مقابلہ کیا جاسکے اور اسلامو فوبیا کے بڑھتے رجحان پر قدغن لگائی جاسکے ۔

 لیکن یہ کام آسان نہیں ہے اور میڈیا ہاؤس چلانا کوئی چھوٹی موٹی دکان چلانا نہیں ہے۔ اس میں بڑے سرمایہ داروں کی ضرورت ہے اورمسلم سرمایہ داروں کی اس کی توفیق ابھی تک اللہ تعالیٰ نے نہیں دی ہے کہ وہ اپنا طاقتور میڈیا ہاؤس قائم کرسکیں۔ باتیں تو بہت ہوتی ہیں اور ا س ضرورت کا احساس بھی بہت ہے۔لیکن نہ تو ہندوستان میں اس بارے میں کوئی سلسلہ جذبا تی کی جاتی ہے اور نہ ہی عالم اسلام میں کوئی ایسا اللہ کا بندہ ہے  جو اس ضرورت کی تکمیل کرسکے۔ عالم اسلام کی بڑی مخیّر شخصیات دوسرے مذہبی  کاموں کے لیے اپنے خزانے کا دہانہ کھول دیتی ہیں جو بہت اچھی بات ہے، لیکن اس جانب بھی توجہ دینے کی ضرورت ہے، رحمت بھائی نے جس جذبے کا اظہار کیا اس کی قدر کی جانی چاہئے ،لیکن یہ کام صرف جذبے سے نہیں ہوگا بلکہ اس کے ساتھ ساتھ وسائل کی بھی ضرورت ہے اور یہ کام اسی وقت ہوسکتا ہے جب جذبہ اور وسائل دونوں ہم دوش ہوجائیں۔ جہاں تک دوسرے کی بات ہے تو یہ عام طور پر ہماری نفسیات کا ایک جزولا ینفک بن گیا ہے کہ ہم معاملے میں شکوک وشبہات کا اظہار کریں۔ اگر عبدالکلیم جیسے بے قصور نوجوانوں کو قید وبند کری صعوبتیں دی جاتی ہیں تو یہ یقیناً بہت بڑی ناانصافی ہے ۔ لیکن اگر ان کو رہا کردیا جاتا ہے تو اس میں بھی مسلم دشمنی کے جراثیم تلاش کرنا انتہائی غیر دانشمندی کی بات ہے۔ یہی کیا کم ہے کہ ایک بے قصور کو رہا کردیا گیا ، اس کا جو تعلیمی نقصان ہوا ہے اس کا ازالہ نہیں ہوسکتا لیکن اسے ایک بار پھر اپنی تعلیمی سرگرمیوں کو جاری رکھنے کا موقع مل گیا ہے۔

 مظلوم والدین کا بیٹا واپس آگیا ہے اور سب سے بڑی بات یہ کہ اس کی پیشانی پر دہشت گردی کا جوداغ لگادیا گیا تھا، اس کے مٹنے کے اسباب پیدا ہوگئے ہیں۔ اب ایسے میں یہ کہنا کہ اسے ابھی اور جیل میں رکھنا چاہیے تھا تاکہ وہ دوسروں کے ضمیر کو بھی جگادے ،انتہا ئی احمقانہ بات ہے ۔ اور کسی کا بھی سویا ہوا ضمیر کسی بھی ٹھوکر سےبیدار ہوسکتا ہے۔ دراصل ہم مسلمانوں کا مسئلہ یہی ہے کہ ہر معاملے میں فوراً منفی پہلو تلاش کرنے لگتے ہیں ۔ جبکہ ہمیں مثبت باتوں پر دھیان دینا چاہئے ۔ منفی سوچ ہماری بہت بڑی دشمن ہے۔ ہمیں اس دشمن کے خلاف لڑنا ہوگا۔ اپنی سوچ کو بدلنا ہوگا اور منفی کے بجائے مثبت انداز نظر اختیار کرنا ہوگا۔ یہ سب کچھ اسی وقت ہوسکتا ہے جب ہم تعلیم کے میدان میں آگے آئیں اور نوجوان نسل کو دینی اور دنیاوی دونوں قسم کی تعلیم دلائیں ۔ جب تک ہمارے ذہنوں میں علم کا اجالا نہیں پہنچے گا ہم اس منفی سوچ کے جالے کو صاف نہیں کرپائیں گے۔ ضرورت اس بات کی ہے کہ ہم اپنے اس بڑے دشمن کا مقابلہ کرنے کے لیے خود کو تیار کریں۔
