The ban imposed on women's education in
Universities in Afghanistan by the Taliban government is certainly sad, such a
ban is tantamount to discouraging and denying women's rights, because education
belongs to every human being, whether they are men or women and it is a
fundamental right.
Permanent arrangements have been made for
its realization in all ages. Among the prisoners who were arrested on the
occasion of the *Battle of Badr* in the Prophet's era, there were some who were
not capable of paying Fidya so they were assigned to teach Muslim men
and women so that they would be released in exchange for educating others and get freedom.
In the educational activities of Hazrat
Muhammad ﷺ, women were also given importance along with men. History
proves that during the blessed era of the Prophet ﷺ,
female teachers were also appointed like teachers. Hazrat Umm Waraqa, Shafa
Bint Abdullah and Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa RA can rightfully be counted among the
teachers of the era of Prophethood.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) encouraged the
education and training of daughters. It is said in the hadith, "Whoever
raises three daughters, educates them and treats them well, then he will have
Paradise."
In the Islamic period, continuous efforts
have been made to achieve and promote education, in which the services of women
alongside men in various fields of science and art are prominent. History is
bright with its brilliant examples. In the Prophet's Mosque, education and
exhortation were organized after the prayers, in which men and women
participated equally, and through Friday, Eid and Hajj sermons, general
education and culture were organized, etc., which led the country and the
nation. It has played an important role in the evolution of human civilization.
In the current era, where the value and
cost of education has increased many times more than before, and there are
continuous movements for the promotion of education without discrimination
between men and women, the current decision of the Afghan government in
relation to women's education in such situations. Of course, it is intolerable
and against human values, which the Afghan government should reconsider and
reverse the decision. And in the future, strong and welcome steps should be
taken for the promotion of women's education.
All these views were expressed by the All
India Ulama Board. The board issued a declaration that education is the main
goal of life and Islam has always encouraged knowledge and education and Allah
Almighty exalted the Prophet ﷺ to prophethood through
the first revelation in the cave of Hira. It comes from the word 'Iqra'.
Then in the Holy Qur'an, the study of
knowledge has been encouraged and encouraged at many places. Such cruel
decisions of the Talibani government will prove to be the last nail in the
coffin for Afghan women, besides, it is also dishonoring Islam at the
international level because such unfair decisions are being made in the name of
Islam.
We make an appeal to the international
community and heads of Muslim countries
to pressurize Afghanistan’s Taliban Govt
to cancel this decision by. The Government of India should also condemn this
decision at the diplomatic level because it is not only a women's problem but
also a problem for future generations of Afghanistan.
