Former Pakistan Cricketer Saeed Anwar's Gaffe: Participation of Women in The Workforce Leading to A Rise in Divorces

People Like Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-Ul-Haq Are
Responsible for The Current Deplorable State of Affairs in Pakistan. If
Pakistan Is Down in The Dumps, It's Because Of The Presence of Such Characters for
Whom Nothing Is Greater Than Allah's Deen. Alhamdulillah.

A video of
former Pakistan cricketer Saeed Anwar, circulating widely on social media, has
stirred controversy. In the video, Anwar expressed his views on how increasing
participation of women in the workforce is leading to a rise in divorces. He
also mentioned that divorces in Pakistan increased by nearly 30 percent in the
past three years. Anwar went on to say that he has seen a similar pattern all
around the world and families are suffering because of women entering the
workforce.
After his
retirement from cricket as one of the finest openers in the history of Pakistan
cricket, he joined Tablighi Jamaat, removed his moustache and sported a beard
just like his contemporary Inzamam-ul-Haq. These overzealous evangelists of
Islam suffer from 'CFMD' (Chronic foot-in-mouth disease). Now you'll hear them
utter Insha’Allah and Alhamdulillah whenever and wherever they
open their mouth.
Had this
misogynistic statement come from a typical mutton-headed village cleric from
Pakistan like Tariq Masood or Tariq Jameel ('world renowned' authority on the
appearance and beauty of Houries in heaven; he seems to have got a PhD
on the description and grandeur of Firdaus), one would have understood
and even pitied.
But a
cricketer of Anwar's stature, who travelled across the world, expressing
7th-century views and ethos of a tribal faith is not just shocking but also
worth-condemning. What makes his views all the more laughable is his claim that
people from the West also endorse his and Islam's primitivism.
While Anwar
and his likes are known for their regressive views and hardcore religiosity,
it's also a known fact that most of the Muslim men aren't in favour of their
women working outside and contributing to the income of the family. All
religions are patriarchal but Islam is particularly patriarchal.
People like
Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-ul-Haq are responsible for the current deplorable state
of affairs in Pakistan. If Pakistan is down in the dumps, it's because of the
presence of such characters for whom nothing is greater than Allah's Deen.
