Mr Ghulam
Mohiuddin has sealed and settled the issue once and for all with his
categorical statement that: There's no mention of the Big Bang theory in the
Quran. Yet, literalists and the blind followers of the Quran will continue to
claim that their book does speak of the Big Bang theory. This is the problem
with the blind followers and literalists. It's worthwhile to mention that these
literalists most abound in Islam. Their sole mission in life is to prove the
veracity of every word written in their Book (read Koran). They're almost like
those fanatics who killed and died for an imaginary god. The question remains:
When and where will this religious obstinacy end?
Just take a
journey back and mull over: The burning of Christians by Pagans as flaming
torches to light their games. The brutal Christian revenge on the Pagans. The
relentless persecution of the Jews by Christians. The violent expansion of the
Muslim empire and the sanguinary conquest of India. The barbaric crusades by
Christians against the Muslims. The horrors of the Inquisition. The genocide of
indigenous people in the ' New World.' The mass burnings of witches. The bloody
conflicts involving Shaivites and Vaishnavites on Deccan plateau (that too in
Hinduism that claims to preach non-violence right from the beginning). All were
motivated by the desire to please some god up there. All were justified with
reference to sacred texts that not only condoned such behaviour but demanded
it. These evils have not occurred because the perpetrators were bad people, but
because they were in the grip of very bad ideas.
'It's your
faith that changes your whole behaviour,' Sigmund Freud told a fanatic
Christian who happened to be his patient. He finally relinquished Christianity
and all faiths. He also did away with the very idea of god. On this very forum,
I've observed 'educated' people act and behave in a manner which ill behoves a
refined human. Sadly, all for an Allah and its Book! It's really strange, esp,
if you think dispassionately, that humans have killed, maimed, destroyed and
humiliated their fellow humans for the sake of a fictional god and its useless
Books that were not written or inspired by god, but created by men. And often
by the worst kind of men.
Now time
has arrived to become humane humans. Thus far we were religious beings, living
by the diktats of our respective religions and their gods. Is anyone listening
or still sleeping, having taken an overdose of religious morphine?
