This forum
has spawned a few Christian readers who seem to be in touch with Jesus on a
hotline! In other words, they're connected with Jesus at a personal level. This
is again an example of anthropomorphism: Creating a 'personal' god as you
perceive it. Great, if that gives them happiness and all their wishes are
fulfilled, But the whole saga of a personal god sounds so puerile.
In a 1947
letter, Einstein stated that "It seems to me that the idea of a personal
God is an anthropological concept which I cannot take seriously." In a
letter to Beatrice Frohlich on 17 December 1952, Einstein stated, "The
idea of a personal God is quite alien to me and seems even naïve."
I'm not
criticising but the Literalist Christian message looks absurd and grotesque.
You were born in sin and deserve to be punished. So, god sent his own 'son,'
Jesus, to planet Earth to suffer horribly on the cross to pay for your sins.
Jesus died for you and then resurrected and went to Heaven. And, if you believe
that this really happened, you'll also go to Heaven when you die, where you'll
have a rollicking time forever. But if you don't believe that the resurrection
really happened, when you die, you'll go to Hell and be subjected to really
horrible tortures for all eternity.
By a god of
love! That's why Italian great Dante's 'Divine Comedy' sends Muhammad to
hell. In fact, In Inferno, the first part of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy,
Muhammad is placed in Malebolge, the eighth circle of hell, designed for those
who have committed fraud; specifically, he is placed in the ninth Bolgia
(ditch) among the sowers of discord and schism. Dante drew his inspiration from
the Jewish and Christian 'sacred' literature to create a 'masterpiece'.
Israel
Finkelstein, director of archaeology at Tel Aviv University, and his co-writer,
Neil Silberman, describe the Bible as 'no more historical than the Homeric saga
of Odysseus or Aeneas' founding of Rome. The biblical narrative is so
thoroughly fraught with inconsistencies and anachronisms......that it must be
considered more of a historical novel than an accurate historical chronicle.
The Myth of
Jesus and later Trinity were concocted in Christianity to mollycoddle those who
came into its fold. The earliest Church concocted the 'story' of Jesus'
crucifixion, which is actually Crucifiction, to appeal to humans' maudlin
sentimentalism by creating an excruciating narrative of Jesus' sufferings (they
call it 'The Passion' of the Christ!) on the Cross.
In reality,
human history's most famous man never existed. Myth of Jesus is the world's
biggest hoax; far bigger than the fabled Loch Ness Monster, affectionately
known as Nessie. Go beyond all these fables and fantasies. Instead, focus on
your own story. Mary asks how humans developed their level of consciousness if
there's no god.
Well,
consciousness is a product/outcome of evolution, independent of a creator. Why
has human consciousness evolved (and it's still evolving) in such a long time?
Had there been some creator, it'd simply have bestowed that upon humans. But
that never happened.
Humans have
evolved in an inordinately long span of time and way to reach the current state
and stage. We shall go further and will be so evolved that we won't require any
god. But that will take crores of years. Until that happens, you continue to
believe in a higher power, speak with him/her/it and feel blessed.
A deluded
state of mind also has its own pluses as it keeps you away from thinking, which
is the most cumbersome and ponderous task for a majority of humans. Mind you,
there's no condescension or pontification in it.
