ISIS Threatens India After Moscow Bloodbath Through Its Publications

ISIS Threatens To Attack India's Places Of Worship.

Main Points:

After attacking a concert hall in Moscow and killing 137 innocent people on March 22nd, the ISIS has now threatened to carry out terrorist strikes in India, according to a report on Hindustan Times YouTube channel. The ISIS has issued this threat through its publication Al Azaim. It has published pictures of the demolished Babri Masjid and that of the Delhi policeman kicking a Muslim while he was praying outside a mosque on a Friday. Through this message, the ISIS has tried to win the sympathy of Indian Muslims.

The ISIS had claimed responsibility of the Moscow attacks but the IS-Khorasan had not taken credit for it though it praised the attackers. Four terrorists arrested by Russian police are from Tajikistan but were trying to flee to Ukraine. They told the interrogators that they were paid 5500 dollars by their handlers. Russia has reasons to believe that Ukraine is involved in the attacks and that the IS-K fighters were only mercenaries. Putin has rightly asked if the Muslims of the world were really unhappy with Russia despite his positive role in the resolution of crises in the Middle East. Obviously, he was hinting at the involvement of his enemies who do not want Russia's involvement in the affairs of the Middle East. He also asked if a true Muslim would kill innocent people in the month of Ramadhan. Putin actually wanted to drive home the point that the ISIS fighters were not driven by Muslim affairs but carried out the attacks for money. Putin asks who their customers were.

It seems that their is a power struggle within the ISIS and the IS Khorasan headed by Sanaullah Bokhari is trying to project himself as the actual head of the ISIS. The main ISIS carried out the attacks in Moscow which falls in IS-Khorasan area to challenge Sanaullah Bokhari's leadership. That is why, the IS-Khorasan did not claim the responsibility of the Moscow attacks but praised the attackers.

It can also be said that the US knew of the impending attack and therefore said soon after the attack that Ukraine was not involved. To that, Putin asked how the US came to the conclusion even before an inquiry into the incident was conducted.

The most concerning part of the ISIS re-emergence is that it is now threatening to strike Indian interests. It has threatened to attack places of worship in India. India is going into polls and the poll campaign is already underway. Any terrorist attack on places of worship or on public places before or during elections will have devastating social and political consequences for India as well Indian Muslims. Its violent ideology led to the destruction of the Middle East and displacement of millions of Muslims. The Al Qaida, the ISIS and other terrorist organisations have only harmed Islam and Muslims in the world. They are the political tools of the western powers with which they destroyed the economy of the Islamic countries.

After its rout from the Middle East where it had established a so-called caliphate, it has showed its true face and come out as a terrorist organisation. As in the Moscow attack, it has worked as mercenaries or terrorists on hire. During the Armenia-Azerbaijan war two years ago, Azerbaijan had reportedly hired about 4000 ISIS militants. Therefore, the ISIS can carry out terrorist attacks in any country for money and give religious pretext to it for that as it gave for Moscow attack. It said it punished Russia for its attacks on mosques in Syria. Actually, Russia has broken the backbone of the ISIS in Syria. Putin had called them liver eaters during 2014 civil war in Syria. This is the reason the ISIS consider Russia its enemy number one.

IS-K is based in Af-Pak region and is an opponent of the Taliban. It criticises Taliban of renouncing its path of Islamic Shariah and allying with western democracies. In Afghanistan, the IS has carried out a number of attacks on Taliban clerics and seminaries. In turn, the Taliban have also cracked down on the ISIS. The ISIS have criticised Taliban's engagement with India.

ISIS threat to India is not in the interests of the Indian Muslims as any terrorist attack in India will only harm the interests of the Muslims. As the IS-K carried out attacks in Moscow for money, it may also carry out terrorist attacks in India for money to serve the interests of the enemies of India and Indian Muslims.

Therefore, both the Indian government and the Indian Muslims should remain alert and cautious against any sinister design of the ISIS. The Muslims should not give in to emotional blackmailing by the ISIS. These terrorist organisations raise social and political issues of Indian Muslims to garner their support. Indian Muslims have never resorted to violence and have never supported terrorism and militant ways to resolve their social and political problems. They have never sought outside support for their issues. Indian Muslim community is a strong community that has faced challenges peacefully and democratically.

Terrorists and mercenaries killing innocent civilians in the month of Ramadhan can never be their ideal or role model. The terrorist organisations like Al Qaida, ISIS, Taliban, Al Nusrah, Al Shabab and Boko Haram have only added to the problems of the Muslims and not contributed to their economic, educational and political development and well -being. The countries and regions in which they are active have plunged into humanitarian crises. Indian Muslims, therefore, should stand with the government to thwart any attempt by them to sabotage peace and harmony in the country.
