Ridiculous to say National Anthem un-Islamic, say Indian Muslims

Wed, 10 Aug 2016

Muslims in city ridiculed the decision of an Allahabad school to not play the National Anthem after some Muslim parents called it "un-Islamic". A news report had stated that the school had stopped the National Anthem, resulting in the principal and eight teachers resigning.

"The statement actually shocked most Muslims. This is the logic of Wahabis and Salafis. It starts from that. No Muslim has ever attacked the National Anthem," said Feroze Mithiborewala, a member of Muslims for Secular Democracy.

"It is quite ridiculous to make such a statement, that "Bharat Bhagya Vidhata" is objectionable from the Islamic point of view. We have been singing it for so many years in school and other functions. This fellow had gotten up and taken objection and made a nonsensical stand. Many years ago there was a sect in Christianity that had filed a case, which went up to the SC. It was a matter of conscience for them. If this school has a similar issue, it should spell it out and make its case in court. Instead of addressing the many problems the community is facing, they make such a ridiculous, objectionable and unfortunate statement," said Javed Anand, an activist who has taken up several cases of civil rights.

Several other Muslims had a similar view. "I did not understand the issue because Muslims have never had any problem with the National Anthem. They are trying to make an issue out of a non-issue," said Maulana Hakim Mehmood Dariyabadi.

Aslam Ghazi, in charge of the association for protection of civil rights in Jamaat E Islami, said, "There is nothing un-Islamic in the country. The Kerala HC and SC have said it is not compulsory. It should not unnecessarily be made into an issue. People are dying of hunger... why is this being discussed so much?"

Bangladesh Jamaat-i-Islami Member Sentenced To Death for War Crimes In 1971

Wed Aug 10 2016

NEW DELHI: A special tribunal dealing with war crimes committed during Bangladesh's independence war against Pakistan in 1971 has sentenced a former lawmaker to death and seven others to life in prison for murder and other crimes.

The tribunal sentenced Sakhawat Hossain, a former parliament member belonging to the Jamaat-i-Islami party (JI), to death on Wednesday.

He and one of the other defendants were present in the court. The six others were tried in absentia.

Hossain was a central committee member of Islami Chhatra Sangha, the student wing of JI at the time, and was accused of acting as a local commander of a group that aided Pakistani soldiers.

In May, Bangladesh executed Motiur Rahman Nizami, leader of the JI, just days after the nation's highest court dismissed his final appeal to overturn the death sentence for atrocities committed during the 1971 war.

He was convicted in October 2014 by the International Crimes Tribunal, which was established in 2010 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government and has sentenced more than a dozen opposition leaders for war crimes.

Rights groups say the trials fall short of global standards and lack international oversight.

In 2013 the convictions of Jamaat officials for war crimes triggered the country's deadliest violence in decades. Around 500 people were killed, mainly in clashes between protesters and police, and thousands were arrested.

Turkey Suspends 2,650 Religious Personnel over Ties with Gulen

10/08/16

TEHRAN (FNA)- Turkish Religious Affairs Organization suspended 2,650 employees on suspicion of having ties with Fethullah Gulen, Turkish leading opposition figure whom Ankara considers responsible for the failed military coup attempt in the country, local media reported.

The suspended personnel comes from all ranks and levels, including foreign organizations, bringing the total number of suspended staff to 3,672, Daily Sabah reported.

In early August, Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala said that there were 25,917 people arrested, of whom 13,419 remained in custody, during the investigation into the July coup attempt.

On July 15, the Turkish authorities said that an attempted coup was taking place in the country. At least 246 people resisting the attempted coup died. The coup attempt was suppressed the following day.

Ankara has accused Gulen and his followers of playing a key role in the botched coup. Gulen, who has lived in the US state of Pennsylvania since 1999, has denied allegations that he orchestrated the July 15 coup attempt in Turkey.

Boko Haram threatens to attack infidels of the West African countries, Buhari’s Presidential Villa

AUGUST 9, 2016

LAGOS— In an apparent bid to reaffirm his relevance, Boko Haram’s former leader, Abubakar Shekau, has threatened fresh but more vicious attacks on Nigeria, saying this would culminate in an attack on President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The latest threat came barely a week after he was upstaged by ISIS, who appointed al-Barnawi, son of founder of the sect, Muhammed Yusuf, as the new leader of the sect. In a new video released yesterday, Shekau, who paraded a large number of his men and munitions, was quiet, while one of his masked lieutenants read out a statement that reiterated their unflagging loyalty to him, denouncing ISIS’ choice of Mr. Al-Barnawi as its West African ‘Wali’ (leader). But Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in a swift reaction, waved off the threat last night, saying “not every tomfoolery deserves a response.” Full report at: vanguardngr.com/2016/08/boko-haram-threatens-attack-infidels-west-african-countries-buharis-presidential-villa/

Rejuvenation and Reinvigoration of the Nigerian Army: The Butatai approach

AUGUST 9, 2016

File: President Buhari interacts with troops of HQ 1 BDE in Dansadau Zamfara State as part of the 2016 Nigerian Army Day celebration on 13th July Not only because the Nigerian Army was inept, corrupt and politicized to a fault at that time, but also because a vicious, blood thirsty terrorist group that was rated as number two in the World Terrorism Index was raiding, rampaging and ravaging the north eastern parts of the country. Why Muslim Terrorists Are Today’s Vikings

AUGUST 9, 2016

Remember learning about Vikings in school? You know the ones. They had the hats with horns, the boats with dragons on the front, and they terrorized all of Europe for hundreds of years. They would descend upon a town, kill all the men, rape the women, and steal anything of value. There was even an acrynom for that: RPP, for rape, pillage, and plunder. That’s what they did. Eight hundred years ago, most Europeans were terrified of them.

Is there any comparably dangerous group in recent days? A group that commits horrible acts of violence, and targets women for sexual assault? Of course there is. I don’t even have to name it. Everyone knows the answer: Muslim extremists.
