India’s Barelvi Clerics Issued ‘Fatwa’ Against Products ‘Containing Cow Urine’

May 19, 2016

Bareilly: A question by Bareilly-based resident Bakhtiyar Khan has made clerics of Dargah Ala Hazrat to passed fatwa against the use of products allegedly containing cow’s urine.

As per HT, Bakhtyar asked the clerics that if the use the products having urine was permitted in Islam.

“The question was discussed among the clerics and they came to a conclusion that it is anti-Islamic to use such products,” said Naseer Quaraishi, media coordinator of Jamat Raza-e-Mustafa, a religious organisation under the Dargah.

“After discussions, Mufti Mohammad Kausar Ali and Mufti Hakim Md Muzaffar Hussain issued the fatwa, a copy of which was sent to Bakhtyar Khan,” he added.

The cleric said that consumption any product containing urine of any animal was ‘Haraam’ according to Shariat and the rule applied to all such products, “including those manufactured by Patanjali” and use of it in any form should be shunned.

Last year, in Tamil Nadu, a similar fatwa was issued against Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali products by Muslim groups following which Patanjali Ayurveda issued a clarification  claiming that only 5out of the total 700 products manufactured by the company had cow urine.

Indian Muslims Angry Over Yoga Day 'Om' Chant Proposal

May 19, 2016

Muslim groups on Wednesday slammed a directive from India's Hindu nationalist government for participants in International Yoga Day to chant "Om", citing religious bias.

The mass outdoor yoga session, to be held in June for its second year, is an initiative spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is seeking to reclaim the practice as an historic part of Indian culture.

"Yogic practise shall start with a prayer or prayerful mood to enhance benefits of the practise," read a note issued by Ayush ministry, which works for the promotion of yoga, as shown by television networks.

The ministry said participants should chant the sacred sound "Om" and Hindu vedic hymns at the start and end of the 45-minute event on June 21.

Muslim groups reacted with anger, saying such chants were against their faith and accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of seeking to impose a hard-line Hindu agenda.

"We are not against yoga but India is a secular country and the state has no religion," Zafaryab Jilani, a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board told AFP.

"If they are imposing a Hindu religious practice on the rest of us, it is unconstitutional."

The government waded into a similar controversy last year after it made the Surya Namaskar pose (sun salutation) part of the event.

Muslim groups say certain yoga poses and chants have clear Hindu overtones and are against Islam.

"They are again and again trying to impose a Hindutva ("Hinduness") agenda. This order should be cancelled immediately," Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, a top Muslim cleric said.

The opposition also weighed in, accusing the government of seeking to impose a narrow vision on the ancient tradition, which commands huge global popularity.

"Yoga has achieved the status of an international art form and by imposing such conditions the government is killing its essence," Manish Tewari, a leader of the main opposition Congress party said.

"People from different religions do it and the practitioner should decide what to chant."

Following the outcry, the Ayush ministry issued a clarification saying the directive was not compulsory.

Indian scholars believe yoga dates back 5,000 years, based on archaeological evidence of poses found inscribed on stones and references to Yogic teachings in the ancient Hindu scriptures of the Vedas.

In 2014 the United Nations accepted India's proposal to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day, highlighting its health benefits.

Thousands gathered in dozens of cities around the world to celebrate the inaugural event last year, with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon performing yoga at Times Square in New York.

Iran’s EC Secretary: Resistance Front to Bury Takfiris in Syria, Iraq

May 19, 2016

TEHRAN (FNA) - Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezayee underlined the imminent collapse of Takfiri terrorists in the region, and said the resistance forces will bury them in Syria and Iraq.

"At present, some parts of Syria and Iraq are in the ISIL hands but their advance has fully stopped and limited," said Rezayee, a former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), in an interview with the state-run TV on Wednesday night.

"The Takfiris are collapsing and we are determined to bury the Takfiris in Syria and Iraq to save the Muslim world from this catastrophe," he stressed.

Iran has pioneered in helping the regional states' fight against terrorism, specially Iraq and Syria, specially by its military advisory role, and has offered many regional and world states to cooperate in campaign against terrorist groups.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, top advisor to the IRGC Quds Force commander announced that the downfall of the ISIL terrorist group has started.

"The ISIL collapse has started intellectually and doctrinally and in the battlefield," Brigadier General Iraj Masjedi said, addressing a gathering in the Central city of Kashan.

He expressed the hope that the current year would witness the fall of the ISIL and Takfiri terrorism in the region.

Elsewhere, General Masjedi blasted the US and Israel for their warmongering policies in the region, and said, "While the Americans claim that they are fighting against the terrorists, they don’t carry out any operations against the ISIL and instead supply them with equipment and weapons."

Islamic State Training 8 Year Old Indonesian Kids with Ak-47

MAY 19, 2016

According to reports emerging from Jakarta, The Islamic State has continued to target Indonesians for recruitment into the terrorist front.

A video released recently by the terrorist group showed what appears to be dozens of young Indonesian children who were taught their radical ideology being prepared for the war.

The identities of children were confirmed by Ridlwan Habib, an intelligence and terrorism expert at the University of Indonesia. Not all of the children in the video were Indonesian, but by judging the way they spoke Indonesian with fluency, a majority of them were indeed children from Indonesia, he confirmed.

Indonesian children are the New Guinea pigs of Islamic State, as they can be easily brainwashed and the teachings of radical Islam can be planted in their minds with relative ease.

“If you look at the quality of the video, it was definitely made in Syria,” Ridlwan Habib told Tribunnews.

Habib worried that this may pose a serious threat in the future.

“In the full video I counted 23 children, aged 8 to 12 years old. Imagine if in the next 3 years they are grown up and return to Indonesia,” he said.

Habib also added that the immigration office should do a better job.

“To see so many Indonesian children who have managed to get into Syria, this should be a cause for serious re-evaluation by the immigration office,” he said.

Ridlwan feared that the children were the innocent victims of their parents who were recruited to the Islamic State, with the parents forcing their kids to join as well. The video makes it clear that they have fully adopted the teachings of the Islamic state and abandoned any allegiance to the Indonesian government and authorities.

The terrorism expert urged the government to pass the long-discussed laws that would allow Indonesia to block the re-entry of any citizens who had gone abroad to fight with the Islamic State. Ridlwan also said the government has an obligation to try to rescue the Indonesian children who have been forced to join the notorious Jihadist group, though he admitted that would require a tremendously difficult plan with a massive research and planning.

Jakarta coconuts reported that the followers of the Islamic State seem to have a thing for using children to attract more soldiers. Last year, a photo posted by one Islamic State follower tried to recruit Indonesians with a photo of a newborn baby between a gun and grenade.

While in January, the Islamic State claimed credit for the terrorist attack that took place in Central Jakarta that killed eight. Even in polls taken before the attacks, less than 0.5 percent of Indonesians supported the Islamic State.

As an update to their largely open recruitment platform, the Islamic State is now reported to be vetting new recruits. The reason for IS to make a change in the rule is reported to be a suspicion of new recruits as possible western agents.

Once the new recruits arrive at IS-controlled territory, they undergo security checks and attend religious and military training. After their training is complete, the source said, the fighters are assigned to military, security, police, welfare, and propaganda positions.

The change of policy comes in the wake of last month’s reported elimination of Abu Nabil al-Anbari, the leader of IS’s affiliate in Libya, in a coalition airstrike, Breitbart reported.

Islamic State is known for being merciless even when it means harming innocent women and children. Recently, The Inquisitr reported that the extremist group was plotting an attack on Jewish kindergartens. In December of last year, it was reported that the group was responsible for killing a mother for breastfeeding her child in public.

Diplomatic row after Bangladesh hangs pro-Pakistan war criminal

Wed May 18 2016

On May 11 in Dhaka Central Jail, Bangladesh hanged its fifth and most high-profile war criminal, amidst extraordinary security measures.

The execution of Motiur Rahman Nizami, the leader or Amir of the Jamaat-e-Islami, triggered both jubilation and anger within the country.

Predictably, it also created a diplomatic kerfuffle between Bangladesh and Pakistan. Both countries have earlier locked horns on the war crimes trials, and executions of convicted war criminals.

However, even distant countries like Qatar and Turkey have reacted adversely, no doubt to burnish their Islamist credentials and to show solidarity for the Islamic brotherhood.

Pakistan and Turkey have a long history of co-operation since the Cold War, when the two countries of CENTO were under US patronage. Qatar, with its vast oil wealth, and Turkey, which has turned increasingly Islamist under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, are relative newcomers in supporting Islamist causes.

Cut My Back with Blades, Was Flogged 500 Times in 3 Days: Shahbaz Taseer

May 18, 2016

Shahbaz Taseer, the son of Pakistan’s slain governor of Punjab province Salmaan Taseer, has given a chilling account of brutal torture during his half a decade-long captivity by ruthless Uzbek militants who flogged him, cut off his flesh and pulled out his nails.

The horrific ordeal was narrated by Shahbaz himself in his first interviews after he recently returned home in March from the clutches of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) and later the Afghan Taliban. “They used to flog me. I was flogged about 500 in three days, then they cut my back with blades and removed nails from my hands and feet,” the 33-year-old told BBC Urdu about his captivity by the IMU, an outfit long associated with Al-Qaeda blamed for high-profile terror attacks in Pakistan including the 2014 storming of Karachi airport.

‘India Might Not Be Able To Defend Itself from Pakistani Missiles’: Nuclear Expert from Moscow

May 19, 2016

ISLAMABAD: A nuclear expert from Moscow says despite heavy investments in developing anti-ballistic missile systems, India may not be able to fully defend itself in a conflict from strikes by Pakistani missiles.

“Even in 10 years and with the huge budgets that India plans to spend on the development of nuclear weapons and capabilities, it is difficult to imagine it will be able to defend its territory from possible strikes from Pakistan in case of conflict,” said Petr Topychkanov, a senior researcher at the Carnegie Moscow Centre’s Non-Proliferation Programme.

Talking about ‘Non-Proliferation and Strategic Stability in South Asia: A Russian Perspective’ at the Strategic Vision Institute (SIV) which is an Islamabad-based think tank specialising in nuclear issues, Mr Topychkanov said that despite large-scale cooperation between India and Israel for the development of a ballistic missile defence system and Indian efforts for acquiring S-400 defence systems from Russia, “India is very far from developing any system that could effectively defend itself from a Pakistani missile”.

Will Europe Survive the Religious War ISIS Is Waging Against It?

May 19, 2016

ISIS’s recent activities in Europe may be viewed as a part of a larger campaign to polarise Europe’s multicultural society along religious lines. The group, over a span of two years, has not only inspired, but also funded and organised successful attacks in countries such as the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany as well as Kosovo and Bosnia. The primary impetus behind these attacks seems to be as straightforward as seeking retribution against America’s coalition partners in Iraq and Syria as well as against unallied countries fighting against the ISIS. Attacks on Western European countries have fuelled a rising surge of rightist nationalism across the continent’s multicultural societies. These trends have manifested in the form of social backlash against religious and ethnic minorities, especially Muslims. These growing trends are indicative of the fragile nature of the balance that exists within multicultural societies, no matter how old, and the very thin line that separates co-existence and co-option from disharmony. This balance is what the ISIS seeks to destabilise.

Five Macedonians Jailed For Joining Islamic State

19, 5,201

A Macedonian court has sentenced five militants to up to 4 1/2 years in prison for joining the Islamic State (IS) extremist group and recruiting fighters for the group.

The criminal court in Skopje on May 18 said it found the five men guilty of joining a "foreign army." The men pleaded guilty to the charges.

According to Macedonia's Criminal Code, joining conflicts abroad as well as recruiting citizens to fight in foreign conflicts is punishable by five years in jail.

All five were arrested after they returned from fighting in Syria and Iraq, the court said.

They were among 11 Macedonians arrested in a nationwide police operation in August and accused of having extremist links.

In March, the six others, including Rexhep Memishi, an imam at a Skopje mosque who was considered a militant leader, were given five- to seven-year jail terms.

They also were found guilty of joining IS in Iraq and Syria.

Macedonian authorities have estimated that between 72 and 130 such people who have returned from Syria are considered "potential terrorists."

Europe's failed 'open door' policies must not be repeated in America

19, 5,2016

There is a real and imminent threat that the United States faces from jihadists infiltrating the refugee program and exploiting the gaps in our immigration policies.

The terrorist attacks in Brussels (Belgium), Paris (France), and San Bernardino (Calif.) — as well as the foiled plot earlier this year by a Houston-area refugee — clearly demonstrate what is at stake. And the United States must look no further than Europe to see the dangerous path we are on.

For the past several decades, Islamic jihadists have capitalized on the generous "open door" immigration and refugee polices of European leaders, which has created a major recruiting ground for thousands of jihadi terrorists and a place from within Europe's borders to advance its terror and radical agenda.

France Hit by Rail Strike, Demo by Weary Police

May 19, 2016

TEHRAN (FNA)- Strikes by French railway and port workers halved train services and prompted cancellation of ferry links to Britain as labor unions sought to force President Francois Hollande's government into retreat on labor law reforms.

After weeks of protests in which hundreds of their number have been hurt, police held a rally of their own to vent frustration over the stresses of near daily clashes with violent youths on the fringes of the anti-reform movement, the Channel News Asia reported.

As they did so, a crowd chanting "police everywhere, justice nowhere" surrounded a police patrol car, which went up in flames after the police officers inside fled the scene, a few hundred meters from where their colleagues were rallying.

The public prosecutor's office said after the incident it was opening an inquiry into attempted homicide.

Radical ‘Avengers’ threaten new insurgency in Nigeria's oil-producing delta

19, 5,2016

They call themselves the Niger Delta Avengers. Little is known about the new radical group that has claimed a series of pipeline bombings in Nigeria’s oil-producing region this year and evaded gunboats and soldiers trawling swamps and villages.

Their attacks have driven Nigerian oil output to near a 22-year low and, if the violence escalates into another insurgency in the restive area, it could cripple production in a country facing a growing economic crisis.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will crush the militants, but a wide-scale conflict could stretch security forces already battling a northern rebellion by hardline Sunni Muslim group Boko Haram.

African nations back moves to arm Libya govt

18, 5,2016

Rome - The African Union on Wednesday threw its weight behind Italian and US-led moves to stabilise Libya that include arming a national unity government to fight Islamic State militants.

Western powers are also keen to see Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj's fledgling administration establish its authority over the whole country so it can actively contribute to efforts to stem the flow of mostly African migrants using Libya as a launchpad to get to Europe.

The two issues were at the centre of an Italy-Africa summit in Rome on Thursday and Chad, which currently holds the AU's rotating presidency, welcomed this week's acceleration of international action on Libya.

'US Plan B in Syria Legitimizes ISIL'

Thu May 19, 2016

TEHRAN (FNA)- The US Plan B in Syria could broaden the conflict in the middle Eastern country, as some suggesting that the plan is the division of Syria and division of Iraq into ethnic lines that is going to create even further problems in the long run, a leading expert in Middle East affairs said.

"When you look at the interests of Saudi Arabia, who is pouring billions into this conflict, and…Turkey, you see that really they don’t want to have tranquillity and peace in that region," Islamic Human Rights Commission founder Massoud Shadjareh said, Sputnik reported.

"They’d had a commitment from the beginning for regime change."

US commander: Islamic State may be reverting to its 'roots'

Thu May 19, 2016

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (AP) -- A series of deadly attacks by Islamic State operatives in and around Baghdad may be a sign that the militants are "reverting to their roots" as a terrorist organization, the top U.S. commander for the Middle East said Wednesday.

Army Gen. Joseph Votel, the head of U.S. Central Command, said this does not mean IS has given up its ambition to create a so-called caliphate. But he said it marks a new turn in tactics aimed at diverting attention from the group's recent battlefield losses.

Speaking to reporters while traveling to the Middle East, Votel said the attacks that have rocked Baghdad over the past week, killing upward of 200 civilians, are an illustration of the dynamic nature of the war.

Largest US Muslim center targets spike in Islamophobia

Thu May 19, 2016

Sitting on a red and green carpet inside a mosque in a suburb of Washington, Nabill Abdulle describes an invisible force. You can’t see it, he says, but “it’s there.”

Islamophobia haunts the Muslims of Lanham, Maryland — 30 minutes north of the US capital — as the country’s divisive election campaign fuels fears already heightened by Islamic State group attacks in Brussels and Paris.

So hopes are riding high on the inauguration of the town’s new Islamic centre, and its ability to help win over Americans’ trust.

The Diyanet Centre of America is the largest such facility in the country, a massive complex surrounding a mosque built in 16th-century Ottoman style.

The Turkish government financed and built the $110 million centre.

Benjamin Netanyahu Seeks Ultranationalists for Coalition in Israel

MAY 18, 2016

JERUSALEM — In a sharp turnaround, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sought on Wednesday to bring the ultranationalist Yisrael Beiteinu party into his governing coalition by offering to name its leader, Avigdor Lieberman, defense minister, according to politicians across Israel’s political map.

An Israeli government official confirmed that Mr. Netanyahu and Mr. Lieberman had met and formed negotiating teams with the aim of reaching a coalition deal “in the coming days.”

Just hours before meeting Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Netanyahu seemed to have been closing in on a coalition agreement with Isaac Herzog, the leader of the center-left Zionist Union and the head of the opposition in the Knesset, or Israeli parliament. After days of intense back-room negotiations, Mr. Herzog, whose party advocates accommodation with the Palestinians, had been expected to serve as foreign minister, an appointment that was partly intended to ease international pressure on Israel.

Wake up Muslims, wake up

MAY 18, 2016

The biggest tragedy with Muslims is that people look upon us assuming that Islam is Muslims because we practice that religion. When a crazy Christian does something terrible, everyone knows it’s the actions of a mad man because they’ve some knowledge of the core beliefs and ethics of Christianity. When a mad Muslim does something evil or foolish they assume it’s from the religion of Islam, not because they hate us, but because they’ve never been told by a Muslim what the teachings of Islam are. Western media while producing vile programmes and publishing derogatory cartoons on Islam airs material of the highest quality with a high level of accuracy to scare the world into believing that Muslims are insane. It’s expected of it to do mean things against Muslims. But then conspiracy or not, let us face it, chips are down, that we’re large to blame ourselves for the terrible backlash against the Muslim world. If the machinations have been going against us for so long, the question arises, where’s our media? Where's our leaders and spokespeople? Where's our scholars? Where's our literary figures? The truth is we don’t have any. The upshot is that instead of looking inward and asking painful questions such as why we don’t have such things and such people, we take a simple way out by blaming/attacking others for our problems.
