Muslim religious leaders have urged the community “not to fight fire with fire” but to “defeat hatred with love”, and rued the silence of the government as “fanatics” try to poison society and weaken the country.

The message of peace has emerged from a gathering of over 5,000 clerics and religious scholars in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh at a time a concerted campaign is under way to file cases demanding the takeover of Muslim places of worship, capping attempts to intimidate the minorities through physical and livelihood attacks, citizenship bias and genocide calls.

Maulana Mahmood Madani, president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hindi that is organising the two-day national convention at the Idgah Ground in Deoband, said on Saturday: “We don’t need to fight fire with fire; we need to maintain peace and follow traditions by playing a role in the positive development of the country even when some groups have been trying to poison society.

Madani added: “The number of worshippers of hatred has suddenly multiplied in the country. The silence of the government is unfortunate. But we will face this situation and never let the fanatics weaken the country.”

Madani told reporters later on Saturday that several resolutions would be passed at the convention. They include demanding that the government implement the 267th report of the Law Commission of India that had recommended a separate law against those who incite communal violence.

The participants agreed to observe March 14 as “International Day to Combat Islamophobia” and requested Muslims not to publicly vent their anger against “Hindutva fanatics”. “We will pass many more resolutions by Sunday evening,” Madani said.

Mufti Abdul Qasim Nomani, vice-chancellor of the Darul Uloom Deoband, the 156-year-old seminary, said: “India is like a garden of different plants where people of different religions, ideologies and cultures have been living with love for each other for centuries. However, some people are conspiring to vitiate the atmosphere by creating hatred between people and harming the development of the country.”

He added: “We need to be careful about these forces and at the same time, focus on education to take the country to another level of development.”

The Darul Uloom is one of the most respected Islamic universities in the world and students from across the globe study there. However, the RSS and the BJP have been trying to portray the seminary as a “nursery of terrorism”.

Maulana Salman Bijnauri, a teacher at the Darul Uloom, said at the convention: “A sense of Islamophobia has been created across India to isolate Muslims from the economic and social mainstream. This was the reason we proposed a campaign against such misinformation about Islam. We need to tell people the reality so we can build confidence among other communities. This is how we can gradually destroy the theory of Islamophobia and make people believe that we are equal stakeholders in taking the country forward.”

The proposal was supported by most participants, including Mufti Salman Mansoorpuri, a teacher at the Darul Uloom, Mufti Habuburrahman Ilahabadi and Maulana Shamsuddin, and was included in the resolution.

Muslim Clerics, At Deoband Two-Day Conference Organized By Jamiat-Ulama-e-Hind, Raise Concern Over Growing Islamophobia, Hate-Mongering In India

LUCKNOW: Taking a resolve to unite against “Islamophobia, the Ulema and clerics converged, from across the country in Deoband, Saharanpur to take part in a two-day conference organized by Jamiat-Ulam-I-Hind (JUH) on Saturday and targeted the Centre alleging that while it talked of a ‘United India’ (Akhand Bharat), it was patronizing the hate mongers due to which it had become difficult for the Muslim community to walk freely in its own land in the present time.

However, on a positive note, the JUH announced to hold 1000 sadbhawana Sansad (goodwill conferences) to unite the society against hatred and Islamophobia in the days to come.

The two-day congregation of the governing body of JUH commenced at Eidgah Maidan in Deoband and was attended by nearly 2000 members and representatives of organizations from all over the country. The meet was presided over by Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, the JUH president.

In all, three resolutions were passed by the members in the conference including, (a). Immediate step to be taken in line with the recommendation of 267th report of Law Commission -2017 suggesting the provision for a separate law to punish those who incite violence; (b). In order to promote tolerance, peace and coexistence among faiths, 15th March, as designated by the United Nations,  shall be observed as the day against Islamophobia. On this occasion commitment for the eradication of all forms of racism and religious discrimination should be recalled; (c). A department – Justice and Empowerment Initiative for India Muslims-- has been created by JUH to combat justice and suppression.

At the conference, a decision was also taken to carve out a “Jamiat Sadbhavna Manch” with 11 members. Half of its members will be non-Muslims. The Forum shall convene a meeting every month to ensure the participation of non-Muslim brethren. Earlier, while delivering his presidential address, Maulana Arshad Madani expressed grave concern over the growing communalism in the country. He said it was necessary to come together to end the atmosphere of hatred.

“We have been maintaining patience but that does not mean that we will bow our heads and accept everything. We can compromise on everything, but not on our faith," said Madani adding that the faith taught them not to be discouraged under any circumstances. He further said that the divisive forces had a game plan of provocation.  “We cannot fall into their trap. The haters are in minority but the biggest tragedy is that majority of the country is silent even though it feels that those who are selling out hatred are traitors of the country,” said the JUH chief.

He said that Muslims were feeling isolated in their own country. “They talk of unity and Akhand Bharat while the situation is such that the Muslims find it difficult to walk freely in their own country. That we keep patience today, if need be, we will also accept jail and hanging but we will not do this for others. When our organization decides then we will not take a step back,” said

Madani.

Claiming the JUH  represented the unity of the country and was not limited to Muslims only, Madani said its weakness was the weakness of the country. Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani said that the responsibility for eradicating sectarian hatred lies more with the government and media.

Muslims should incorporate Tawakkul when facing uncertainties, through Tazkiyah an-Nafs counselling, said board member of Malaysia Counsellor of the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry Dato Professor Emeritus Dr Amir bin Awang yesterday.

He said this at the National Counselling Conference and Exhibition (NICHE) 2022 organised by the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) and the Brunei Darussalam Counselling Association (PERKAB), themed ‘Divine Vaccine Overcoming Uncertainty’.

In his keynote address on ‘Divine Vaccine Overcoming Uncertainty: Tazkiyah An-Nafs’, he differentiated between Western counselling and an-Nafs, by noting that the Islamic method can be regarded as a divine vaccine. He added that Muslims must seek to purify their souls as an element to the divine vaccine approach.

The second keynote speech was delivered by PERKAB President Major (Rtd) Rusli bin Bujang, who covered ‘Strategy in Improving Taqwa (Pious) in Creating Inner Self-Control’.

He said that a person’s ability to refrain themselves from doing something unintended or unwanted can help the person achieve the desired long-term goals.

The conference continued with parallel presentations at Tarbiyah Hall and Taklim Hall, themed ‘Technology, Measurement and Assessment in Counselling’.

The Tarbiyah Hall featured three presenters – Gamal Abdul Nasir Zakaria from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) on ‘Addressing Mental Health Among Students Post-COVID-19 Pandemic in Brunei Darussalam’; Dr Kharhan bin Haji Jait and Ahmad Humaizi bin Haji Samihon from KUPU SB on ‘Online Counselling Education Service in Brunei Darussalam’; and Counselling Officer from Student Affairs Division at UBD Akmal Nasri bin Kamal on ‘The Physiological Impacts of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) on Social Skills: Mediating Effects of Mental Health Problems’.

Supreme Council of Resistance for the Salvation Afghanistan Rejects the Taliban’s Invitation to Return to the Country

Members of the Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan

----

By Saqalain Eqbal

28 May 2022

Members of the Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan issued a statement, on Friday, 27th May, calling the Taliban’s recent actions, including convening the Loya Jirga and forming the Return and Communications with Former Afghan Officials and Political Figures Commission, a “ploy” that they “firmly reject.”

While the Taliban lacks national and international legitimacy, the council claimed that the Taliban had made “desperate efforts” to gain support from the Afghan people and the international community, as well as to rule the “oppressed” people for a period of time.

The council said in a statement that the Taliban were staging a “sinister plot” by hosting a “show”, referring to the meeting of the “Great Assembly of Afghans” at the behest of a pre-determined plan.

The National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan, according to the statement, denies both Taliban attempts, calling them “an insult to the collective consciousness of the people, a disdain to political figures and their complicity in the Taliban’s crimes, and a play on the international community’s thoughts.”

“The Taliban must understand that no conscientious political figure, no committed and diligent scholar, and no brave and patriotic woman is willing turn a blind eye on the blood of Afghanistan’s oppressed people and their just demands and partake in the group’s crime,” the statement stated.

The council also said the Taliban should know that the group’s treatment of domestic politicians, its violence against women and former regime employees, is the best measure of how it treats others.

The Supreme Council of Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan has stated that instead of these “ridiculous tricks and games,” the Taliban should seek realistic and viable solutions to the country’s present situation.

According to the council, the Taliban must comply with the legitimate demands of the Afghan people, including the formation of a transitional government and then a regime based on the people’s will through general elections, in order to bring real change to the country and bring stability, security, and prosperity to the country.

The statement comes as the Taliban has established a commission to invite and protect political figures inside the country. In addition, the group plans to hold an assembly in Kabul, labeling it the Loya Jirga, to obtain internal legitimacy.

Palestine Become Battle Scene Of Defending Islam Sanctities

May 29, 2022

"The Palestinian people today have started a holy battle in Al-Aqsa Mosque so that the occupying forces and the settlers cannot penetrate it," Barhum said in an interview with Al Mayadeen in reaction to the Flag March ceremony of the Zionists on Sunday.

Hamas' spokesman also called on the people of the Arab world and the Islamic Ummah to stand by the Palestinian people and enter the battle for the liberation of Al Quds, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the whole of Palestine.

Palestinians demonstrated in several areas of the Gaza Strip in protest of the flag march, warning the Zionists by saying that the Al Aqsa Mosque is their red line.

Hours before the start of the flag march, groups of Zionist settlers on Sunday entered Al-Aqsa Mosque under the strict security measures of the Zionist regime's police.

Meanwhile, the Zionist regime forces were stationed in different parts of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, imprisoning the Palestinian worshipers inside the mosque and preventing other Palestinian citizens to enter.

Last night, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement, issued a stern warning against holding a flag march.

The flag march is an insulting ceremony and marks a day in 1967 when the Zionist occupiers were able to completely occupy Quds.

THE LEGACY OF AL-QA’IDA AND USAMA BIN LADEN FROM HIS OWN PAPERS

BY JOSHUA HUMINSKI

MAY 28, 2022

May first marked the 11th anniversary of the successful Operation Neptune Spear, which saw U.S. Navy SEALs cross into Pakistan, flown by members of the Army’s elite 160 Night Stalkers, and kill Usama bin Laden (UBL). The anniversary likely passed with little, if any, notice by most. The death of the leader of al-Qa’ida may have brought some closure to the families and loved ones of those lost on 9/11, but the threat of radical Islamist Jihadist terrorism remains. The philosophical movement UBL crystalized into a global endeavor very much remains with us. While the threat is certainly much reduced, and Bin Laden is by no means the sole progenitor of the movement, his legacy lives on well beyond Abbottabad.

There remains much to learn about UBL and al-Qa’ida, a fact vividly illustrated in Nelly Lahoud’s “The Bin Laden Papers.” Thanks in no small part to the situational awareness of the Navy SEALs on-the-ground, and the forbearance of Admiral William McRaven—the commander of Neptune Spear—we have exceptional insights into the inner workings of al-Qa’ida and UBL’s worldview. The SEALs, seeing filing cabinets and computers, asked for additional time to conduct “sensitive site exploitation”—in effect grabbing as much useful intelligence and data as possible. Despite worries about remaining on site too long, McRaven granted them additional time— time that proved invaluable to our understanding of UBL and the group he co-founded.

Hanes: Ruling on Quebec City mosque killer prompts a reckoning of our own

Allison Hanes

May 27, 2022

After a week in which many Canadians were left heartbroken, anguished and outraged over the senseless slaughter of 19 students and two teachers at a Texas elementary school, we are now being forced to reckon with the painful fallout from one of our own horrific mass shootings.

The night a gunman opened fire in the Centre culturel islamique in Quebec City marked us forever. It shattered any illusions that we are immune from the polarization, hatred and intolerance on the rise around the world — or the indiscriminate violence unleashed with such shocking frequency in the country next door.
