15, 2022
Muslim
residents of Anandapura in the Sagar taluk of Shivamogga read out the preamble
of the Indian Constitution after the Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid in their
village.
Soon
after azan call at 12.30 p.m. on Fridays, Maulana Mufti Safeeruddin delivers a
religious speech, followed by a talk on the Constitution by Mohammed Zakria, an
advocate from Sagar. After the Juma Namaz (Friday prayers), everyone assemble with
copies of the preamble. They join Mr. Zakria, who read out the script and ask
others to repeat after him.
The
Jamia Masjid at Anandapura has a long history, spread over four centuries. It
was built by the Keladi rulers and Tipu Sultan and the Mysuru rulers had also
visited the place in the later years.
“Many
hardly know about the Constitution and the rights it guarantees to citizens.
This is an attempt to make them understand the Constitution and underline the
importance of education among our people,” Mr. Zakria told The Hindu.
Mr.
Zakria and his friends thought of this initiative and members of the mosque
committee and Maulvi Maulana Mufti Safiruddin supported the idea. “The
Constitution treats all equally. But in practice, it is not so. Hence, we people
should understand the significance of the Constitution well and protect it from
attempts to disregard it,” he said.
Social
activist Sadiq Yedehalli said that his religion had taught him to respect the
homeland. “We respect the land by bowing our head five times a day. Similarly,
we read out preamble of the Constitution to convey that we respect the law of
the land as well.”
As
the news of this initiative spread, members of a few other mosque committees in
Shivamogga district have contacted the organizers and expressed their
appreciation. “Many are inviting me to do a similar exercise in other places. I
am happy with the response. Anybody can take this forward. I wish in the coming
days, the Preamble is read out in many mosques and it becomes part of the routine,”
said Mr. Zakria.

Saudi
Arabia Executes Shia Youths from Qatif Region over Trumped-Up Terror
Allegations
This picture shows Saudi Shia youth Mohammad Khedr
al-Awami from Qatif region in the kingdom’s oil-rich and Shia-populated Eastern
Province, who was executed by Saudi authorities on May 14, 2022. (Photo via

2022-May-15
The
Saudi Ministry of Interior alleged in a statement on Saturday that the death
sentences were carried out against Hussein Ali Al Abu-Abdullah and Mohammad
Khedr Al-Awami, presstv reported.
The
ministry further claimed that the Saudi nationals “collaborated with terrorist
groups, fomented unrest and insecurity in the country, possessed weapons,
ammunition as well as rocket-propelled grenades and attempted to disrupt
national security".
Last
month, two human rights organizations filed a complaint at the United Nations
against arbitrary executions in Saudi Arabia, especially after the execution of
dozens of prisoners in a single day in the ultra-conservative kingdom.
The
European Saudi Organization for Human Rights (ESOHR) and Reprieve, a UK-based
non-profit organization of international lawyers and investigators, announced
the Riyadh regime openly declared its disregard for international principles as
well as its commitments and obligations through the executions of 81 men, 41 of
whom were Shia Muslims, in March.
The
organizations stressed that special rapporteurs have pointed to various counts
of violations, including torture, ill-treatment and arbitrary detention, in
their reports, and informed the Saudi government in several letters about their
occurrence.
They
highlighted that the executions of anti-regime demonstrators and minors show
that Saudi Arabia, contrary to official promises, continues to arbitrarily
carry out death sentences.
State
news agency Saudi Press Agency reported on March 12 that the authorities had
executed 81 people in one day on a variety of offences. Of the 81 people, 73
were Saudi citizens, seven were Yemeni and one was a Syrian national.
Back
in early January 2016, Saudi authorities also executed 47 people, including
prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr, who had vociferously called
for democracy in the kingdom and advocated anti-regime protests. Nimr had been
arrested in Qatif, Eastern Province, in 2012.
Since
2015, Saudi Arabia has reportedly executed more than 900 prisoners in an
increasing rate. In 2019 alone, Saudi Arabia set a record number of executions
after authorities executed 184 people, despite a general decrease in the number
of executions around the world.
Ever
since MbS became Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader in 2017, the kingdom has
arrested dozens of activists, bloggers, intellectuals and others perceived as
political opponents, showing almost zero tolerance for dissent even in the face
of international condemnations of the crackdown.
Muslim
scholars have been executed and women’s rights campaigners have been put behind
bars and tortured as freedom of expression, association, and belief continue to
be denied.

MAY 2022
Islam
Net, a Salafi Islamic organization in Norway, has received several million
kroner from supporters after using SIAN’s Quran burning as an argument to get
support.
Islam
Net’s leader Fahad Qureshi told the newspaper Klassekampen that they could only
thank SIAN leader Lars Thorsen for being able to buy new prayer rugs and
upgrade their Islamic center.
After
two demonstrations in April, where SIAN first set fire to the Quran outside
Stovner police station and then the following week outside Islam Net’s
premises, Islam Net chose to use SIAN’s own video of the Quran burning in a
fundraising campaign for its Islamic center.
Fahad
Qureshi told the newspaper that the idea behind the fundraising is, among other
things, to show young people that there are better ways to respond to Quran
burning than to act out.

Blasphemy
Case Not Required Over Masjid-i-Nabwi incident: IHC
Islamabad
High Court/ Photo: File
-----
Malik
Asad
May
15, 2022
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has observed that the leadership of the Pakistan
Tehreek-i-Insaf, including its chairman Imran Khan, nominated in the first
information report registered in connection with the Masjid-i-Nabwi incident,
was not present at the occurrence, while the Saudi government has also not
identified or sought their custody. Therefore, registration of blasphemy case
against them was not required.
A
written order released by the IHC on Saturday on the identical petitions filed
by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry and others seeking to quash the FIRs registered
in connection with the said incident said that the contents of complaints
lodged by private citizens did not fulfil requirement for invoking sections of
the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) related to blasphemy against PTI leaders.
“A
plain reading of the FIR registered in District Faisalabad, prima-facie, shows
that the offences are not attracted to the extent of the nominated leadership
of PTI” observed the IHC.
“It
is an admitted position that the leadership of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf was not
present at the place where the incident had taken place. It has also not been
denied that the authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have taken
cognizance of the detestable conduct and proceedings have been initiated
against the persons who were involved”, said the court order authored by IHC
Chief Justice Athar Minallah.
Moreover,
the government has not received any information from the Saudi authorities
suspecting involvement of the PTI leadership, the order further said.
The
court noted that religious sentiments ought to be respected but,
simultaneously, it is the obligation of the state, as defined under Article 7
of the Constitution, to take appropriate measures to ensure that religion is
not allowed to be exploited and used for personal or political gains.
It
is an undisputed fact that religion has been exploited by organs of the state
in the past and such exploitation has led to putting lives of innocent persons
at grave risk. The misuse of, and registration of false/fake cases under
offences described under Chapter XV of the PPC has created an environment of
intolerance and has encouraged vigilante extrajudicial killings, observed
Justice Minallah.
He
referred to the gruesome mob lynching of Mashal Khan in 2017 and Sri Lankan
national Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana recently in Sialkot and termed these as
the “tip of the iceberg.”
Such
vigilante killings are the worst form of violation of fundamental rights and
intolerable in a society governed under the Constitution, he observed.
“The
reckless registration of false/fake criminal cases in relation to offences
described under Chapter XV of PPC exposes innocent victims to grave risk and
thus it is violative of the fundamental rights guaranteed under the
Constitution,” the court order states adding that “it is an obligation of the State
and each organ, described under Article 7 of the Constitution, to ensure that
recklessness in registration of criminal cases in relation to offences
described under Chapter XV of the Constitution is avoided and dealt with
effectively.”
The
court directed the interior ministry to obtain reports from the respective
provincial governments. Moreover, the federal government has been directed to
ensure that no case is registered against the PTI leadership unless there is
verifiable information regarding their involvement in the incident.
Justice
Minallah asked the federal government to take appropriate measures to dispel
the alleged perception of exploitation or use of religious sentiments in the
context of registration of criminal cases.

President
Raisi: British Shiite, American Sunni Anti-Unity, Two Sides Of The Same Coin
The President described the position of Sunni people
and clerics in Iran as important in the history of the country and said,
"Sunni clerics and thinkers have provided many services in their own
country, and Shiites and Sunnis have lived together in Islamic Iran for many
years".
-----
2022/05/15
Speaking
in a meeting with a group of Sunni scholars and clerics, Ayatollah Seyyed
Ebrahim Raisi referred to the government's serious efforts to solve people's
livelihood problems, and stated, "The government pays attention to the
concerns of the people that are conveyed to the clerics and tries to solve
these problems".
Explaining
the situation in the country at the time of the inauguration of the 13th
Administration, Ayatollah Raisi said, "Budget deficit of nearly 500
trillion, remaining monthly debt of 10 trillion, death of nearly 700 people a
day with coronavirus, unprecedented inflation, injection of the 4k-toman
currency to the market and the unfavorable situation of the stocks of basic
goods in the country were among the issues that the government was dealing with
in the early days after its inauguration".
Ayatollah
Raisi described the payment of the 4k-toman currency as one of the country's
problems and stated, "In practice, a large part of what was paid as the
subsidized exchange rate was in the service of corruption and rent.
In
fact, we had a waste of the country's resources and subsidies did not reach the
people, so in order to prevent this situation from continuing, it was decided
to give this amount to the last chain and the main beneficiary, the people and
consumers, instead of paying to the first supply chain".
Emphasizing
that paying 400,000 tomans per month to each person is a difficult task,
experts consider this method as a step towards approaching justice and
eliminating absolute poverty.
In
another part of his speech, referring to the important position of Sunni
Iranians and scholars in the history of the country, the President said,
"You Sunni clerics and thinkers have provided many services in their own
country, and Shiites and Sunnis have lived together in Islamic Iran for many
years".
Ayatollah
Raisi referred to the request of some Sunni scholars to employ them more in
managerial positions and said, "Using qualified people is an important and
necessary thing, and the criterion for the government is efficiency, and in
every province, I go, I emphasized the local forces must be employed
more".
In
another part of his speech, Ayatollah Raisi referred to the growth of takfiri
movements in the region and said, "We must be careful about the influence
of Takfiri and Salafi ideas in the country; British Shiites and Sunni Americans
are two sides of the same coin, and both are anti-unity in the Islamic world,
while unity is a strategy for the Islamic Republic of Iran, not a tactic".

calls on Muslim states to halt Israeli occupation, atrocities
May
14, 2022
Any
compromise with the Islamic Ummah's sworn foes, according to Foreign Ministry,
supports the apartheid Zionist regime's heinous deeds and human rights
violations.
“May
14, 1948, the Nakba Day, is reminiscent of occupation, massacre and
displacement of the true owners of the Palestinian land at the hands of Zionist
occupiers and usurpers, and the onset of a trend of systematic violations of
the Palestinian nation’s natural and basic rights.
