'Muslims Have No Negative Approach Towards Ayodhya
Temple Event': Ayodhya Masjid Trust Secretary
Ram Temple, Ayodhya
-----
Jan 14, 2024
AYODHYA: Ayodhya Masjid Trust Secretary Athar Hussain
on Saturday said the Muslim community has no negative feelings towards the
consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.
"The Supreme Court verdict on the temple issue
has been accepted by the Muslims. The Muslim community has no negative approach
towards the consecration ceremony or the temple," he said.
The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation Trust secretary
emphasised that the unity in the country will be showcased to the world,
starting with Ayodhya.
"We believe that our Constitution is an important
pillar of our democracy. Even before the Ayodhya verdict, we had said that
whatever decision comes (from SC), it will be accepted. Any Indian should not
raise any question on the success of the programme of the consecration
ceremony," Hussain said.
Discussing the historical and cultural significance of
the Awadh region, he mentioned the shared heritage of Hindu-Muslim unity,
especially during historical events of freedom struggle in Ayodhya and Lucknow.
"From Ayodhya to Lucknow, Hindus and Muslims fought shoulder to shoulder
against the British and this is our story," he said.

UAE Adjourns Trial Of 'Several Muslim Brotherhood Members'
On Terror-Related Charges

------
13 January, 2024
An Emirati appeal court has adjourned hearings for
"several" alleged members of the Muslim Brotherhood who face
terror-related charges, state media reported Friday.
The adjournment came after an Abu Dhabi Appeal Court
session on Thursday, in which evidence from prosecution witnesses was heard
about money laundering in relation to five suspects and the six companies that
they manage, according to the WAM news agency.
WAM quoted the country's attorney general, Hamad
al-Shamsi, as saying that they were being trialled for "establishing
another secret organisation for the purpose of committing acts of violence and
terrorism on state territory".
It came a decade after a mass trial of some 94
lawyers, students, teachers, and other government critics, who were accused of
ties to the group. Most of the trials resulted in jail time, and many of those
trialled remain in detention.

Muslim Brotherhood Denounces US-British Aggression
Against Yemen
A view from the US and
British naval fleet as Yemeni local sources states that US and British
warplanes have carried out airstrikes on some points in Sana’a, Hodeidah and
Taiz cities during the night, at sea on January 12, 2024 [U.S. Central Command
(CENTCOM)/Anadolu Agency]
-------
January 13, 2024
The Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan condemned the
US-British aggression on Yemeni territory at dawn on Friday, considering it: “A
blatant assault on brotherly Yemen and its national sovereignty, and
condemnable military behaviour in the context of protecting the criminal
Zionist enemy that is waging a genocidal war against our people in the Gaza
Strip.”
The group announced in a press statement: “In the face
of this brutal attack, we confirm that the American administration and its
allies are practically partners in the crimes committed by the occupation,
forming a political umbrella and military protection for it to continue its
hideous holocaust against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip with
American weapons, and shedding the blood of more women, children and civilians
in this unprecedented barbaric, fascist aggression.”
The group ended by expressing: “May God protect
brotherly Yemen and victory and freedom for our steadfast and patient
Palestinian people.”
Earlier on Friday, the Houthi group announced that
five of its forces were killed and six others wounded in raids launched by the
US and UK on Yemen.
The White House announced at dawn on Friday, in a
joint statement with ten countries, that the strikes were: “In response to
continued illegal, dangerous, and destabilising Houthi attacks against vessels,
including commercial shipping, transiting the Red Sea.”
According to the White House, the joint statement was
issued on behalf of the governments of Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark,
Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, the UK and the
US.
The Houthis conveyed in a statement issued by the
group’s Political Council (the highest political authority) that all US-British
interests have become “legitimate targets” for its forces in response to their
“direct and declared aggression” against Yemen.
In “solidarity with the Gaza Strip,” which has been
suffering an Israeli war with US support since 7 October, the Houthis are using
missiles and drones to target cargo ships in the Red Sea owned or operated by
Israeli companies or that transport goods to and from Israel.
Tensions in the Red Sea have reached escalatory levels
since the Houthis directly targeted an American ship on Tuesday evening after
they had been targeting cargo ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or
transporting goods to and from Israel in the context of the group’s solidarity
with the Gaza Strip.

Pro-Palestine Protests Held Around The World As Gaza War
Nears 100 Days
Protesters shout slogans
outside the US embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia [Dita Alangkara/Reuters]
------
13 Jan 2024
Hundreds of thousands of people are taking to the
streets across the world to protest against the war in Gaza, as it nears the
100-day mark, and to demand an end to Israel’s offensive.
At rallies on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
people gathered at the United States embassy to send a message to Israel’s
staunch ally. The US has vetoed United Nations resolutions backed by a vast
majority of the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire.
“We’ve spoken to people here who say they’ve come to
show solidarity with Palestinians. People are holding up placards that read:
‘Stop the genocide’, as well as ‘Bombing children is not self-defence’,” said
Al Jazeera’s Florence Looi, reporting from Kuala Lumpur.
The demonstrations are part of a “global day of action
for Palestine” and to call for an end to the bloodshed that has killed 23,843
people and wounded more than 60,317, according to Palestinian health officials.
Israel on Friday rejected accusations of genocide in
Gaza during a public hearing at the International Court of Justice, claiming
the case filed by South Africa with the top UN court was a distortion of truth
that amounted to libel.
Its arguments were based on its alleged right to
self-defence following the attack by Hamas in southern Israel on October 7,
which killed 1,139 people, as well as what it said was a lack of genocidal
intent against the Palestinian people.
Last month, Malaysia’s government said it would no
longer allow Israeli-owned ships to dock in Malaysian ports. It also said any
vessel en route to Israel would not be allowed to unload cargo at any Malaysian
port.
The protest movement in Malaysia, organised in
collaboration with dozens of NGOs, said it aimed to educate people not only
about the atrocities that are happening in Gaza, but also about the history of
the occupation.
Thousands of people also gathered outside the US
embassy in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, waving Indonesian and Palestinian
flags and holding signs that read “Boycott Israel” and “Ceasefire Now.”

Iraqi Islamic Council Dubs US-UK Attacks On Yemen As Zionist
Crimes
Photo: Yemen News
-----
13/January/2024
BAGHDAD January 13. 2024 (Saba) - The American-British
attacks on Yemen come as an extension of the Zionist crimes in Gaza, chairman
of the Iraqi Islamic higher council said.
The aggression on Yemen and its people proves the
"dangerous colonial plot targeting the Uma, and plunges the region and the
World into the risk of a wider war in order to save the Zionist entity from
defeat," Sheikh Hammam Hamoudi added in a statement.
"We strongly condemn this sinful aggression,
reiterate our solidarity with Yemen and its people that showed the bravest
heroic stances in support of Gaza, and call on free countries to take brave,
responsible stances and on international agencies to take a decision that would
maintain the global peace," he warned.
Thanks to its strong faith and genuine positions,
Yemen is too strong to be defeated by a routed colonist, and will always remain
as a graveyard for invaders as Gaza for the Zionists, the Sheikh said.

Karnataka BJP MP Sparks Controversy: ‘Indira, Sanjay
Gandhi Died Due To Cow Slaughter Curse
14 Jan 2024
BJP MP and former Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde has
sparked controversy and said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and
Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi were cursed with cow slaughter. The BJP MP Hegde
also spoke vividly about the origin of many mosques. Congress workers also
staged protests against Hegde over his statements.
His statements came on Saturday when he attended a
programme in Kumta. "When Indira Gandhi was the then prime minister, there
was a big agitation about the ban on cow slaughter. Dozens of saints died in
the movement and there was assassination of many saints and cows were
slaughtered in the presence of Indira Gandhi, Hundreds of cows were also shot
and killed. The great ascetic Karpatri Maharaj cursed Indira Gandhi," he
said.
"He cursed that your clan would be destroyed on
"Gopasthami day" itself. Sanjay Gandhi died in a plane crash on
Gopashtami, and Indira Gandhi was shot dead on Gopasthami," he added.
In another statement, the former Union Minister said
that the destruction of the Bhatkal Mosque in Karnataka is guaranteed just like
the Babri Masjid.
“The destruction of Bhatkal Mosque is guaranteed like
Babri Masjid. This is not the decision of Anantkumar Hegde, but the decision of
Hindu society... They (Congress) have been dividing the Hindu society for
centuries. Congress is not our opponent. They are anti-Hindu, anti-Sanatana
Dharma. Congress is not our opponent, CM Siddaramaiah is our opponent. Those
who are bidding for minority votes are our opponents... Siddaramaiah said they
have not received an invitation to inaugurate the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Then he
said that he would not go. I would like to say, whether he comes or not, the
inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Mandir will take place…," Hedge said.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah slammed the BJP MP over his
controversial remarks and said that the language used by the latter reflects
his culture.
"The language used by Uttara Kannada MP
Anantakumar Hegde for political purposes reflects his culture. Is it possible
to expect a better culture from Anant Kumar Hegde, who said that he would
change the Constitution when he was a central minister?" Siddaramaiah said
in a post on X.
Karnataka Home Minister and Congress leader G Parameshwara
said, "...The statements he has made show the inner agenda of the BJP, and
what they are up to. No one in the BJP has made any comments, this means they
have accepted his statements. This seems to be their agenda, to create some
sort of unrest..."

Sunehri Bagh Mosque On Govt's Demolition Radar Has
Ties To India's Constituent Assembly
Fuzail Ahmad Ayyubi
14-01-2024
The government’s website celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit
Mahotsav’ has a separate section for the “unsung heroes of India’s freedom
struggle”. Listed amongst these heroes is the famous Maulana Hasrrat Mohani.
The Maulana, though initially elected on a Muslim League ticket, was a staunch
opponent of the two-nation theory and was among those Muslims who decided to
stay back in India, contributing significantly to the constitution-making
process as a member of the Constituent Assembly.
His principles did not allow him to avail of any
government allowances or accommodations. Even to attend the Constituent
Assembly, he would choose to stay in mosques and ride in a shared tonga (horse
carriage). One such mosque was a small but old one at the Sunehri Bagh
Roundabout, in close proximity to Raisina Hill.
This small mosque at Sunehri Bagh, whose history
reveals its survival even against Edwin Lutyens’ plan for New Delhi, has found
itself in the eye of the storm over a century later.
The cause is a notice inviting suggestions issued by
the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) regarding a proposal for its
removal. The proposal, as the notice indicates, is submitted by the Delhi
Traffic Police, ostensibly for providing a “traffic engineering proposal to
ensure sustainable mobility.”

No Need For Dhannipur Mosque, Says Ram Mandir Case
Litigant Iqbal Ansari
January 14, 2024
In the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, litigant
Iqbal Ansari may be entangled in legal battles regarding its demolition, but
after the Supreme Court’s decision on November 9, 2019, he welcomed the verdict
wholeheartedly. Now, he is also quite pleased with the construction of the Ram
Temple.
However, his perspective on the proposed mosque in
Dhannipur is quite different. He explicitly advocates cultivating the proposed
mosque land and sharing the crops equally between Hindus and Muslims.
When asked about the commencement of the work on the
proposed mosque in Dhannipur, tension appeared on his face and he said not
today. “I have been saying for a long time, no Muslim is questioning whether
the mosque will be built there or not.”
He stated, “I will say this much about it, there is no
need for a mosque there now. This is also an appeal to Muslims. There is no
need for a mosque there now. The land, five acres that have been allotted,
Zafar Bhai needs it, let him cultivate it. Whatever produce comes, let it be
distributed among Hindus and Muslims.”

UK could strike Houthis in Yemen again if Red Sea
attacks continue, David Cameron warns
14 Jan 2024
By Ashley Cowburn
David Cameron has warned the UK is prepared to strike
Yemen again if the Houthis continue to attack ships passing through the Red Sea.
The Foreign Secretary also defended Friday's joint
US-UK strikes from warships and jets on the Iran-backed group, claiming the
Government "had no choice but to act".
In an article over the weekend, Lord Cameron said the
action "will have gone some way to degrade Houthi capabilities built up
with Iranian backing". He added: "We have sent an unambiguous
message: what the Houthis are doing is wrong, and we are determined to put a

Isolation and progress: Nizarites of Hunza caught
between Islam, business and modernity
by Stefano Vecchia
01/13/2024
A community in Pakistan has been able to take
advantage of its characteristics of cohesion, isolation but also the desire of
its leaders to open it to the world and to progress which has led it to be
exemplary, even if often unknown.
The Nizarites inhabit the Hunza valley, in the
Gilgit-Baltistan area, located in the extreme north-eastern corner of Pakistan
in the Hindu Kush chain. A region marked by high mountains, but also by the enchantment
of its forests, its waterways and its lakes.
Once isolated for several months of the year, it is
now more accessible and above all more open to the rest of the country thanks
to limited air services and modern roads; among these there is the Karakoram
Highway which crosses it following the traces of the ancient caravan route and
Buddhist pilgrimage route, climbing towards the Chinese border.

Three migrants drown at US border amid dispute between
Texas and White House
Jan 14, 2024
A woman and two children drowned in the Rio Grande as
they tried to the enter the US from Mexico on Friday night after Texas military
officers prevented federal border officials from aiding them, according to U.S.
border officials and a member of Congress.
The deaths come as a dispute over immigration
intensifies between Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, and the administration
of U.S. President Joe Biden, a Democrat, as a record number of migrants have
illegally crossed the border since Biden took office in 2021.
The migrants were attempting to cross the river near
Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, according to officials, which is not a legal port of
entry, and where the Texas National Guard this week added new concertina wire
and fencing.

Canada considers imposing cap on international
students to address housing crisis
Jan 14, 2024
OTTAWA: Amidst the rising unemployment and housing
crisis in Canada, immigration minister Marc Miller has indicated that the
government is considering imposing a cap on the number of international
students residing in the country. The move comes as the government aims to
address the strain on housing caused by the influx of international students.
Although the minister did not specify the extent of
the reduction being considered, he highlighted the need for collaboration
between the federal and provincial governments. In an interview with CTV's
Question Period, Miller emphasized the importance of provinces taking responsibility
for managing the volume of international students.
Miller expressed concern over the overwhelming number
of international students in Canada and referred to the current system as being
out of control. He intends to explore the possibility of setting a cap on
international students to alleviate housing demand in the first and second
quarters of this year.

Palestinian Premier Shtayyeh: 'When Palestinian
children will see the Sea of Gaza'
By Roberto Cetera
14-01-2024
“Christians represent a very important component of
the Palestinian people. Their high educational level, received in your
excellent schools, their strong aptitude for entrepreneurship and trade, as
well as in the free professions, and their passionate belonging to the fate of
our people, make them a key part of the construction and development of a
finally free and independent state.”
This tribute to the Christian community begins the
conversation Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh wanted to grant
L”Osservatore Romano in these difficult days. Mr. Shtayyeh, 66 years old, has a
background as an economist, has been the governor of the Islamic Development
Bank, and Minister of Public Works. He has always been a member of Fatah and
has a reputation as a skilled negotiator on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas.
“Believe me,” he tells L”Osservatore Romano, “it”s not
just a tribute, it’s the recognition of an important role that Christians have
had in our history. For example, Christian schools have been the center of
gravity for many political movements that have arisen in Palestine. Many of our
past leaders were Christians. Christians have always represented a prestigious
intellectual class within our people. You probably don’t know that, before
1948, for example, an important Catholic daily was published in Jaffa. In our
history, there have never been differences between Muslims and Christians, also
because the Israeli occupation certainly made no distinctions in persecuting
both: Christians too found themselves as refugees after 1948, Christians are
also stopped at checkpoints, Christians also endure abuses, Christians also
risk their lives due to the arrogance of Israeli soldiers. It’s sad to admit
it: we are united by a common destiny.”
Allow me to correct you: I would not speak of the
Christian community of Palestine as a distinct entity from the rest. On the
contrary, mind you, Christians are the most evident proof of the historical
roots of our people in this land, simply because they have inhabited it for 20
centuries. Muslims arrived later. As for your observation, yes, Christians are
decreasing. And for this, I feel a responsibility, before the Christians, to
the rulers of the United States and Europe who, for a misunderstood sense of
solidarity, have made it easier to grant visas and residence permits to young
Palestinians. Western governments should rather invest in creating a more
livable situation here for young Palestinians. Economically and politically. We
invest a lot in education, tolerance, inclusiveness, and pluralism in our
society. Think, in terms of a pluralistic society, that we have as many as 17
parties — legal — that participate in the political life of the country.

Iran Reveals Afghan Origin of Islamic State Kerman
Attack; Retaliation Options Limited
Michael Lipin
January 14, 2024
WASHINGTON — More than a week after Iran experienced
its deadliest terror attack in decades, its Islamist rulers said one of the
suicide bombers trained in Afghanistan with the Islamic State group that
claimed responsibility for the attack.
Iranian leaders have vowed to retaliate against the IS
perpetrators of the January 3 suicide bombings that killed at least 90 people
in the city of Kerman as they attended a memorial for top Iranian commander
Qassem Soleimani on the fourth anniversary of his death in a U.S. drone strike.
In a statement published Thursday, Iran’s intelligence
ministry identified one of the two bombers as a 24-year-old citizen of
Tajikistan named Bazirov Israeli and said he received several months of
training at an IS camp in Afghanistan’s northeastern province of Badakhshan
that borders Tajikistan. It said that following his training, smugglers helped
him cross the border into southeastern Iran’s Sistan Baluchistan province near
Saravan city.

Islamic Health Organization buries 'civilian' medics
with Hezbollah flag
Lior Ben Ari

The funerals of two Lebanese medics, who were killed
in IDF strikes, were held on Friday in southern Lebanon. The images that came
from the funerals may strengthen the claim that the slain "medics"
are members of Hezbollah.
At both funerals, the yellow flags of Hezbollah were
displayed and the speeches that were given were similar in their wording to the
speeches given at the funerals of Hezbollah members who were killed during the
war.
Hezbollah attempted to obscure the identity of the two
medics, Ali Mahmoud al-Sheikh Ali and SajdRamzi Qassem, on Thursday evening by
reporting at the time that they were two medical personnel from the Islamic
Health Organization.

Tehran: Yemeni Ansar Allah movement has strength

NEW YORK Jan 13. 2024 (Saba) - Iran's Ambassador and

"Iravani" said in a statement to the

Missiles from Iran and North Korea boost Russia’s
onslaught on Ukraine
14-01-2024
The deep subway tunnels of the Lukyanivska metro
station in central Kyiv make an ideal air raid shelter — which is just as well
as the station lies across the street from the Artem weapons factory and was
damaged when Russia targeted the area in one of its biggest air strikes of the
war.
Ukraine has had a tough start to 2024. The country is
exhausted after two years of fighting, the temperature in Kyiv has dropped to
-14C and the ground offensive, having failed to recapture significant swaths of
occupied territory, is all but frozen.
Meanwhile, Russian air attacks — supplemented with
Iranian drones and, according to the US, North Korean ballistic missiles too —
have heated up. The second big strike came on Monday, when Russia launched 59
drones and missiles and Ukraine’s air defences shot down less than half of
them, compared with their usual 80 per cent interception rates.

Guan Eng says Dr M’s remark about Indian Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 — DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng today

“It is clear this is politically motivated because of
his failure to win over the support of Malaysians. He has taken an extremist,

“This is not only extreme but dangerous, coming from a
