Jerusalem Archbishop Hanna Says Insulting Holy Qur'an
Cannot Be Considered Freedom Of Expression
The
Head of the Sebastia Diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem,
Archbishop Atallah Hanna,[MEMO]
-----
02/July/2023
JERUSALEM, Sunday, July 2, 2023 (WAFA) – Archbishop
Atallah Hanna, the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia in Jerusalem, has
vehemently condemned the desecration of the Holy Qur'an in Sweden, stressing
that this act cannot be considered a freedom of expression in anyway.
Hanna said in a press statement: "We consider
what happened not to be an attack on the Qur'an and Muslims alone, but rather
an attack on the human, moral and civilized values that everyone must possess.
Religious symbols are sacred, and insulting religions cannot be considered
freedom of expression."
Hanna expressed his condemnation of “this unjustified
and unacceptable act, which should not affect the fraternal relations that bind
members of all religions in our world. Individual acts of this kind should not
affect the culture of love and brotherhood, especially since an act of this
kind represents only those who committed it and a limited group of people who
believe in these ideas, which are a combination of backwardness, extremism, hatred
and other manifestations of negativity.”
"This act falls within the framework of inhumane
and uncivilized practices aimed at stirring up strife in our world and
spreading a culture of hatred among people. Therefore, we must reject actions
of this kind, and we must not allow any party to exploit this heinous act to
spread a culture of hate and racism in our societies,” he continued.
“Our world has different religions and multiple sects,
and we demand that there be coexistence and cooperation among all those who
belong to these in the service of humanity and in service of just issues,
foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.”

-----
Jul 2, 2023
KOPPAL: In an incident showcasing religious harmony, a
mosque was inaugurated by a Hindu seer in Bhanapur village of Kukanur taluk in
Koppal district.
The mosque was inaugurated by Abhinava Gavisiddeswara
Swamiji of KoppalGavi Mutt on Friday. He said it is imperative for everyone to
live in harmony. "True religion means harmony. Those who consider their
own religion to be superior are not religious. A person who donates blood to a
patient without bias is a truly religious person," he said.
Even a common man can function as a religious person.
Those who go to mosques, temples and churches are not the only religious
people. True religion is to live without hurting and defrauding others. Real
religion is living in harmony," he explained.
"Although there are only five houses of the
Muslim community in this small village, everyone lives compatibly, which is the
sign of a real religion," the seer said.

Afghan Taliban say US President Biden 'Acknowledged
Reality' About al-Qaida
US President Joe Biden
(Reuters file photo)
-----
Jul 1, 2023
KABUL: Afghanistan's Taliban government on Saturday
seized on an off-the-cuff remark by US President Joe Biden to underscore their
claim that there was no al-Qaida threat in the country.
Biden was leaving a press conference on Friday on the
US Supreme Court's decision to block his student debt relief program when a
reporter asked if he admitted to mistakes during the withdrawal from
Afghanistan in 2021.
"Do you remember what I said about Afghanistan? I
said al Qaeda would not be there. I said it wouldn't be there. I said we'd get
help from the Taliban. What's happening now? What's going on? Read your press.
I was right."
The question was prompted by a report released Friday
which said US officials were inhibited during mass evacuations from Afghanistan
in 2021 by a lack of clear decision-making, an absence of centralised crisis
management and confusing public messaging.
The so-called After Action Review was ordered by
Secretary of State Antony Blinken after outrage over the chaotic scenes in
Kabul as Taliban fighters seized control following the end of the 20-year US
military presence.
"We consider remarks by US President Joe Biden
about non-existence of armed groups in Afghanistan as acknowledgement of
reality," the ministry said in a statement.
"It refutes the recent report by UN Sanctions
Monitoring Team alleging the presence & operation of over twenty armed
groups in Afghanistan."
"A range of terrorist groups have greater freedom
of manoeuvre under the Taliban de facto authorities. They are making good use
of this, and the threat of terrorism is rising in both Afghanistan and the
region."
Afghanistan's Taliban rulers insist they do not allow
the country's soil to be used by armed groups plotting against other nations,
and deny the presence of al-Qaida.
They have not acknowledged the killing of al-Qaida
leader Ayman al-Zawahiri by a US drone strike in central Kabul last year,
saying investigations into the incident are continuing.

Prestigious Imperial College London Honours Late
Pakistani Physicist And Nobel Prize Winner Dr Abdus Salam’s Legacy
Pakistani physicist
Professor Abdus Salam. — Nobel Prize
------
Atika Rehman
July 2, 2023
LONDON: Imperial College London this week announced
that it will be naming its central library after late Pakistani physicist and
Nobel Prize winner Dr Abdus Salam.
Prof Hugh Brady, president of the prestigious college,
wrote to students telling them about the development, “Throughout his career,
the Nobel Prize winning Professor of Theoretical Physics Abdus Salam made a
tremendous contribution to Imperial, as well as to the world of physics and
science more generally. It is right that we do more to celebrate this legacy. I
hope the new Abdus Salam Library inspires many more people in the years to
come.”
A formal launch and naming ceremony for the Abdus
Salam Library will take place in the coming academic year. The university’s
management board decided to name the library after Dr Salam as part of its
response to the History Group Report, a publication by the university last year
that focused on Imperial’s associations with historical figures and
under-celebrated people from the university.
Dr Salam joined the university in 1957 and set up the
Theoretical Physics Department with the late Prof T. Matthews during his time there.
In 1979, Dr Salam shared the Nobel for his work in the field of electroweak
unification theory.
The university announcement described him as a
“passionate promoter of science education in the developing world”, noting that
he founded the international Centre for Theoretical Physics in 1964 so
scientists from developing countries would be able to interact with leaders in
the field.

Over 1K Christian and Muslim Parents Protest District's
Dirty Trick to Subvert Parents' Rights
Zehara Sherif came from
Alexandria, Va., to join a protest by parents in Rockville, Md., on Tuesday.
Demonstrators want to opt their children in Montgomery County out of reading
books that feature LGBTQ characters. (Sarah L. Voisin/The Washington Post)
------
By Jack Gist
July 1, 2023
When Satan ditches the shadows and strolls into the
light of day, God-fearing people put aside their religious differences and band
together.
That’s what happened in Maryland’s Montgomery County
on June 27 when more than 1,000 protesters showed up outside a Rockwell school
board meeting to make it known they are against teaching LGBT-themed lessons to
elementary school children, according to The Washington Times.
The protest group included many who were
self-described members of the county’s East African immigrant community who
belong to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Others were professed Muslims.
Protestant and evangelical parents and families joined the protester ranks to
make it clear to all that parents should have a say in what their children
learn at publicly funded schools.
The protest came in response to the introduction of
six books featuring LGBT themes, one book for each grade level through the
fifth grade. But that’s not what angered the protesters. They were upset that
the Board of Education passed a no-opt-out policy. The policy meant that
parents could do nothing to shield their children from being indoctrinated into
the LGBT/Marxist ideology.
One protester, a man identified only as Desta, a
priest at the Ethiopian Orthodox Church of St. Michael, told the Times, “We
don’t hate anybody. Every human has rights, every human can behave any way that
they want.
Completing this poll entitles you to our news updates
free of charge. You may opt out at anytime. You also agree to our Privacy
Policy and Terms of Use.
It’s not just about LGBT-themed books. A larger
concern is the discussion period that comes after the books are read. A rally
organizer told the Times teachers can start sharing an “agenda” with the
students during these discussions. This is not only a valid concern, it’s
frightening.
How would you like it if your second-grader came home
talking about transgender people marrying people of the same sex or the like?
How’s a little kid supposed to process something like that?
Another protestor, Saba Asrate, mother of two
elementary-aged boys, told the Times the political class pushes LGBT issues,
but they don’t reflect those values in their personal lives.
“[Hillary] Clinton has one child, she’s married, she’s
living [a] fancy life,” Asrate said. “George Bush has twins, they’re married,
they are living a fancy life. And look at the Obamas, the same thing,” But when
something negative [is] coming out, it’s always targeted [at] poor people.”
School boards determined to push LGBT ideology by
stripping parental rights are not interested in education. They are comprised
of Marxist political ideologues who are bent on the indoctrination of your
children.
How did this happen in America? A lot of people are
asking this question. Leave it to Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, a Russian who
survived the Communist gulags, to say it best, “Men have forgotten God; that’s
why all this has happened.” Yes, it’s getting that bad.
Solzhenitsyn blamed the forgetting of God on Marxism
in his acceptance speech for the 1983 Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion.
Men and women like Solzhenitsyn have been warning people about the evils of
Marxism for decades.
“But the world had never before known a godlessness as
organized, militarized, and tenaciously malevolent as that practiced by
Marxism,” Solzhenitsyn said. “Within the philosophical system of Marx and
Lenin, and at the heart of their psychology, hatred of God is the principal
driving force, more fundamental than all their political and economic
pretensions.”
Hatred of God would, of course, include rejecting
Biblical tenets. Take, for example, Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his
own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he
them.” Hatred of God means a hatred of His image. This is a hatred of humanity
itself. It’s satanic.
“Militant atheism is not merely incidental or marginal
to Communist policy; it is not a side effect, but the central pivot,”
Solzhenitsyn continued. “To achieve its diabolical ends, Communism needs to
control a population devoid of religious and national feeling, and this entails
the destruction of faith and nationhood.”
Whether they knew it or not, that’s what the small
band of counter-protesters at the Montgomery County rally were doing as they
stood waving rainbow “pride” flags and playing classic rock. They were doing
their part to destroy faith in God and America.
One of the counter-protesters, John Zittrauer, a
member of the Rainbow Defense Brigade, told the Times that any concern over
there being inappropriate sexual content in the books was “misinformation.”
Former Board of Education member Jill Ortman-Fouch
told the Times the books aren’t pushing a particular message. “People have gay uncles who get married,”
Ortman-Fouch said. “People have their own parents who get married to the same
sex. That shouldn’t be offensive to people, because it’s literally the people
at PTA night.”
Really? MCPS-approved titles for elementary school
children include “Uncle Bobby’s Wedding” by Sarah S. Brannen, “Pride Puppy” by
Robin Stevenson, “My Rainbow” by DeShanna and Trinity Neal, “Love, Violet” by
Charlotte Sullivan Wild and “Born Ready: The True Story of a Boy Named
Penelope” by Jodie Patterson.
Think of the discussion the woke teachers might have
with young students after reading such titles. Grooming, anyone? Are you angry
yet? Disgusted?
MCPS claims its no-opt-out policy falls under the
county’s literacy curriculum. State law only permits parents to withhold their
children from classes that teach human growth and sexuality.
A group of Muslim and Christian parents don’t agree.
They believe that the books do address topics that are covered by the state’s
opt-out law. They took legal action last month.
Three MCPS Board of Education members are up for
re-election next year. The protesters chanted, “Vote them out.” That may be the
best way to combat the godless progressives who would erase parents’ rights and
replace them with a satanic totalitarianism.
If you believe in a higher power that is good and
true, put aside your differences for a time and unify like the voters in
Montgomery County. Then get out and vote
while you still have a voice.

Israeli colonizers stormed Sunday morning, July 2,

Israeli forces reportedly secured the road from the Chain

Semi-daily, Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa and
provocatively perform Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli
occupation forces, aiming to impose a temporal and spatial division in the holy

Islamic Jihad leader: We are arming Fatah terror
groups in West Bank
By KHALED ABU TOAMEH

“Palestinian Islamic Jihad has worked and is working

size and ability of these battalions vary from one place to another, according
to our ability to arm them,” Nakhaleh said in an interview with the Iranian

Palestinian Authority officials recently expressed
concern over the growing cooperation between PIJ and Fatah armed groups in the

Iran's supreme leader lashes out his own judiciary for
corruption
July 1, 2023
Iran's supreme leader called out his own judiciary for
corruption — addressing a major public complaint — as many protesters remain
imprisoned.
In Iran, the country's supreme leader took an unusual
step this week, publicly lashing out at the country's judiciary. He said people
have lost faith in the institution due to corruption, both real and perceived.
That's been a frequent complaint in Iran. As NPR's Peter Kenyon reports from
Istanbul, the statements come as a crackdown continues against people who
protested the death of a young woman in police custody last year.
PETER KENYON, BYLINE: Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali
Khamenei met Tuesday with judiciary officials, and his message was blunt.
Malpractice and corruption were leading to instability in their institution,
which he described as, quote, "one of the main pillars in the
establishment of the Islamic Republic." He said most Iranian judges were
honorable, but not all.

Muslims hold key in 40 seats in Telangana, Congress
hopes for Karnataka rerun
Jul 2, 2023
HYDERABAD: Buoyed by its victory in Karnataka assembly
polls despite BJP’s high-voltage Hindutva pitch, Congress is hoping to wean
away a large chunk of the minority vote in the ensuing Telengana elections and
Lok Sabha polls next year. At least 40 assembly constituencies in Telangana
have a sizable Muslim population, which can tilt the electoral fortunes of any
party.
Political analysts said though majority Muslims voted
for BRS in the 2018 Telangana polls, several factors would decide which way the
minority vote could swing this time.
The ruling BRS’ stand on the Centre’s proposed Unified
Civil Code bill, whether it will tone down or maintain its aggression towards
BJP and AIMIM’s electoral affiliation are some key deciding factors in run-up
to polls. Analysts say BRS and Congress’ popularity charts on eve of polls
could be another clincher.

Taliban is helping US, Joe Biden's off-the-cuff

A reporter asked Joe Biden if he admitted to mistakes
during the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
US president Joe Biden said that Washington is getting
the help from Afghanistan's Taliban to 'end' Al-Qaeda threat, contradicting a
UN report released last month that said Taliban maintains "strong and

during a press conference following the Supreme Court's decision to block his

When a reporter asked if he admitted to mistakes

British soldiers feel guilt after Afghan withdrawal,
researcher says
2 Jul, 2023
British armed forces personnel who assisted with the
Afghanistan withdrawal may be suffering from a “moral injury” on top of
post-traumatic stress from their experience, according to a former military
psychiatrist.
Professor Walter Busuttil, director of research at
veterans mental health charity Combat Stress in Britain, said moral injury
could stem from missions where members of the armed forces feel a “personal
dilemma” due to the commands they have been given.
His comments come ahead of Channel 4 airing the first
episode of Evacuation on Sunday, a documentary about the efforts by the
military, Border Force and the Foreign Office to help 15,000 people escape

Bangladesh Railways looks at India's CSIO for
installing elephant warning system along its new rail tracks
Jul 01, 2023
Bangladesh Railway is looking at the Central
Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) in Chandigarh for installing a
seismic based sensor system along upcoming rail links in their country to
monitor the movement of elephants in the vicinity of rail tracks and trigger an
alert.
The CSIO had earlier installed a mechanism, christened
the Intelligent Elephant Movement Detection and Alert System along a railway
track passing through the Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand to warn
locomotive pilots about the presence of tuskers so as to prevent them from
being hit by speeding trains.
Two scientists from CSIO, Dr Aparna Akula and Dr Ripul
Ghosh were invited by the Bangladesh Railways in May to give a presentation to
the authorities there on the technical and functional modalities of the system.
“A team from Bangladesh had visited out project site
in Uttarakhand when we were executing it and shown keen interest it our
system,” Dr Akula said. “They wanted to understand how it could be applied to
meet their own requirements and now they invited experts from India for this,”
she added.

Europe
France has failed to integrate Muslims because of its
failed colonial policies
By 5Pillars
1st July 2023
Riots have been taking place in France for the last
few days after the cold-blooded killing of a 17-year-old Algerian boy, Nahel M,
by the police. The pictures of social unrest across France now seem more like a
rebellion against the French State and its security apparatus. Some have even
called it a civil war.
The root cause of the riots is the failed state policy
and policing of French racial and religious minority groups, notably those of
Maghreb ethnicity. Ever since colonial rule, French race relations policies
have been predicated on cultural, racial, and identity suppression and
supremacy. Everyone must become a version of the French and European, and that
must be imposed by force by the state and its security apparatus. There is only
one identity for racial and religious minorities in France and that is French,
and one religion which is secularism.
Speaking out against the French state and societal
racism or anti-Islam, and anti-Muslim, prejudice is considered a sign of
radicalism and extremism. At the last presidential election in 2022, Marine Le
Pen (an anti-migrant, anti-Muslim far-right populist) won 41% of the vote coming
second to President Macron. That election, like many others before it, had a
focus on migrants and Muslims. So, French society has become more extreme and
intolerant in its attitude to those of migrant origin.

Here's what Just Stop Oil's LGBTQ+ members say about
disrupting London Pride
Alex Daniel
02-07-2023
Pride was in full swing in London yesterday when
environmental campaign group Just Stop Oil disrupted the parade, spraying the
road and sitting in front of a Coca-Cola float.
The Metropolitan police said protestors sat in the
middle of the road on Piccadilly at 1.30pm, causing the parade to stop for
about 15 minutes. A video posted online showed officers picking up the
protestors and carrying them away. But why did Just Stop Oil target Pride, of
all things?
Well, the group has previously warned it would take
action, calling on organisers of the event to ban floats from “high-polluting”
sponsors and to condemn new oil, gas and coal. A statement from LGBTQ+ members
of Just Stop Oil said: “These partnerships embarrass the LGBTQ+ community at a
time when much of the cultural world is rejecting ties to these toxic
industries.”

German Court Finds Islamic Center As An Extremist
Organization
02-07-2023
The German Federal Administrative Court ruled that the
Blue Mosque, an Islamic center in Hamburg affiliated with the Iranian regime,
is an "extremist Islamic organization."
Despite an objection and complaint filed by the
center, the Administrative Court of Hamburg upheld the classification of the
center's activities as "extremism" by the Federal Office for the
Protection of the Constitution of Germany.
The Court began hearing the complaint of the Islamic
Center of Hamburg two months ago. However, the decision did not confirm
findings by security organs that the center acted as an extension of the
Iranian regime in Germany.

Authorities investigate vandalism at an eastern New
Mexico mosque
July 2, 2023
PORTALES, N.M. (AP) — Authorities are investigating
after vandals trashed a mosque in eastern New Mexico multiple times over recent
weeks.
Police in Portales said they have had reports of
damage that is similar at other vacant buildings in the area. Chief Christopher
Williams told television station KRQE that while it’s more than likely not a hate
crime, officers were following up on possible leads and the area was being
monitored.
“Our investigators are continuing to investigate this
incident regardless of if it is or is not a hate crime,” he said. “In New
Mexico, if a crime is determined to be committed out of hate, then it is a
sentencing enhancement and not a separate criminal charge.”

Nasa's Mars helicopter 'phones home' after no contact
for 63 days
Jul 1, 2023
WASHINGTON: Long time, no speak: Nasa has
re-established contact with the intrepid Ingenuity Mars Helicopter after more
than two months of radio silence, the space agency said Friday.
The mini rotorcraft, which hitched a ride to the Red
Planet with the Perseverance rover in early 2021, has already survived well
beyond its initial 30-day mission to prove the feasibility of its technology in
five test flights.
Since then, it has been deployed dozens of times, acting
as an aerial scout to assist its wheeled companion in searching for signs of
ancient microbial life from billions of years ago, when Mars was much wetter
and warmer than today.
Ingenuity's 52nd flight launched on April 26, but
mission controllers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in California
lost contact as it descended to the surface following its two minute,
1,191-foot (363-meter) hop.

Army training police, but involving it in anti-dacoit
operation is last option: Sindh IGP
July 2, 2023
SUKKUR: Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi
Memon has said that army is training police for the massive operation against
dacoits in the riverine areas of upper Sindh districts but involving the armed
forces is the last option.
Speaking to the media in Kandhkot-Kashmore SSP’s
office during his visit to the district on Saturday, IG Memon said the
operation had effectively restricted gangs of dacoits to the riverine areas. He
claimed that there had been a remarkable decrease in their criminal activities,
including kidnapping for ransom, hostage-taking through honey trap, highway
robberies and murders etc due to the ongoing operation. “Policemen have
rendered great sacrifices in the operation and their morale is high … we will
definitely wipe out all gangs and succeed in getting all hostages safely freed
from their custody soon,” he said, adding that the police force was doing their
job efficiently and working hard to make the operation successful.
Commenting on some recent criminal activities, the
provincial police chief said that gangs were reacting to their losses and the
achievements by police. However, he said, police would continue to mount
pressure on them for the release of all hostages as soon as possible and to
stop their criminal activities.
