Gyanvapi Masjid, Mathura

Sep 15, 2024
GORAKHPUR/LUCKNOW: In a statement that evoked polarising reactions, UP CM Yogi Adityanath Saturday said, "Gyanvapi is embodiment of Lord Vishwanath... unfortunately some people call it a mosque." The statement came a day after a Varanasi court rejected a petition filed by the Hindu side seeking repair of Vyas ji basement in the Gyanvapi complex.
While BJP state spokesperson Manish Shukla said, "Historic, archaeological and spiritual evidence categorically indicate that Gyanvapi is a temple"; SP spokesperson Abbas Haidar said, "The matter is pending in court. It is unfortunate that the CM who has taken oath of the Constitution, is not giving due respect to the court..."

Post-Hasina Bangladesh Gravitates Towards Urdu And Jinnah; Death Anniversary Of Jinnah Celebrated With Urdu Poetry
The observance of Muhammad Ali Jinnah's death anniversary after Sheikh Hasina's ouster is seen as an attempt by Bangladesh to rewrite history. (AP Image)

Sep 15, 2024
In a nation where Bangla was a central pillar of its independence movement against Pakistan, it came out as an unmissable irony when the 76th anniversary of the death of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, was celebrated with Urdu poetry and songs in Bangladesh's Dhaka. This was the first time in Bangladesh's history that Jinnah's death anniversary was commemorated in Dhaka. Speakers also said that without Jinnah, Bangladesh wouldn't exist.
The unusual tribute came on Wednesday, a month after the military-led interim government took over following former PM Sheikh Hasina fled after massive student protests, hijacked by the Pakistan-backed BNP and Jamaat.
While the event marked a rejoice for some, Urdu, Jinnah and Pakistan are still engrained in the bloody memory of the minds of a section of its people.
The 76th death anniversary of Pakistan founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah was marked at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Wednesday, with a gathering of speakers, Urdu poetry recitations, and musical performances, reported Bangladeshi news outlet Dhaka Tribune.
The event, organised by the Nawab Salimullah Academy at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah Hall, was where several speakers emphasised Jinnah's crucial role in the creation of Pakistan, stating that without him, "Bangladesh too would not exist."
While the Pakistani High Commissioner to Bangladesh was expected to attend as the chief guest, he was notably absent. Instead, Deputy High Commissioner Kamran Dhangal represented Pakistan at the event in Bangladesh, where millions were killed, thousands were raped in a Pakistan-devised genocide, until its independence in 1971.
As early as 1952, East Pakistan saw protests advocating for Bangla to be recognised as a co-official language, used in government, education, media, currency, stamps, and to retain its script. The protests saw a heavy-handed crackdown by the West-dominated, Urdu-imposing Pakistani regime.
Dozens were killed in police firing in the pro-Bangla language movement, and five of them have been recognised as martyrs by the Bangladesh government.
On Wednesday, Professor Mostafizur Rahman presented a keynote paper that traced the milestones of Jinnah's life. Jafarul Haq Jafar, meanwhile, paid tribute by reciting an Urdu poem about Jinnah, and Pakistani students Mohammad Tahir and Kamran Abbas performed Urdu songs dedicated to him. These performances took on added significance in the context of Bangladesh, where the Bengali language once resisted Pakistan's attempts to impose Urdu as the national language.
In a controversial statement, MdSamsuddin said that without Pakistan, Bangladesh might have suffered the same fate as Kashmir, with India "holding weapons to our necks." He credited Jinnah's efforts for not only the creation of Pakistan but also for enabling Bangladesh's eventual independence. "If we hadn't been part of Pakistan in 1947, Bangladesh wouldn't exist today," he said, adding that the removal of names of like 'Allama Iqbal Hall' or 'Jinnah Avenue' in Dhaka University campus, were decisions driven by New Delhi's interests, not Bangladesh's own.
A speaker, Nazrul Islam, echoed similar sentiments, saying, "Jinnah is the father of our nation, but we do not acknowledge it. We must preserve our brotherhood with Pakistan."
The celebration of Jinnah's legacy in post-Hasina Bangladesh —a nation whose very language was central to its struggle for independence from Pakistan — presents a curious juxtaposition.
Reacting to Jinnah's remembrance, Dhaka-based journalist Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury said, "It was a slap on our war of independence, where 3 million Bengalis sacrificed their lives. I am speechless!"
Sheikh Hasina, who was Bangladesh's Prime Minister from 2008 to August this year, cracked down on Pakistani and radical Islamist elements during her rule. In her regime lasting 15 years, such elements were sidelined and suppressed, looking to wrestle her out.
The irony of celebrating Jinnah in a nation that fought to free itself from his creation is as striking as it is perplexing. As Bangladesh reflects on its hard-won independence and neighbourhood ties, such tributes raise uncomfortable questions. "Is Bangladesh rewriting its history?" asked the Dhaka-based journalist, Choudhury.

Religious Bodies Against Religious Exploitation, Extremism: Islamic Scholar Calls For Decisive Action From Malaysia Police
The police and religious enforcement agencies such as Jakim must act swiftly and decisively to identify and address any activities of individuals or organisations exploiting Islam for personal gain. — Picture by Shafwan Zaidon
------
15 Sep 2024
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and religious enforcement agencies must act swiftly and decisively to identify and address any activities of individuals exploiting Islam for personal gain or organisations that undermine the sanctity of Islam in the country.
Senior lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), UniversitiTeknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis, Dr Zuraimy Ali emphasised the importance of taking action to prevent the rapid growth of subversive movements that could threaten the faith of Muslims in the country, highlighting that such groups should not expand unchecked due to a lack of legal intervention.
Additionally, the intelligence units of both agencies must be mobilised swiftly to protect more Muslims from being ensnared by perverse elements that oppose Islam and by leaders who exploit religion for personal gain.
“All forms of religious deviations must be addressed promptly through stringent enforcement to prevent any party from exploiting Islam or spreading false teachings.
“In the past, several deviant teachings have been listed by religious authorities, either through the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) or the state Islamic religious departments. However, these movements continue to spread, often operating secretly on social media or illegally, making it difficult for religious authorities to detect,” he said in a statement today.
He was commenting on the recent ‘Ops Global’ police raids on 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, which led to the arrest of 171 individuals for allegedly exploiting children and religion.
In the raids, the police also rescued 402 children. A health screening conducted found that 13 of them were suspected of having been sexually assaulted.
Echoing Zuraimy’s sentiment, PartiKeadilan Rakyat’s Religious Understanding and Strengthening Division deputy chief ZawawiMughni, urged Jakim to take a more proactive role in monitoring the rise of misguided and extreme ideologies in the country.
He advised Muslims to remain vigilant when evaluating ideologies, cautioning against falling into the trap of a narrow interpretation of Islam that certain parties may exploit for their own interests.
“If this ongoing indoctrination under the guise of religion continues, it will lead to a stagnant and closed mindset. Individuals will uncritically accept whatever is fed to them, rejecting differing opinions and advice that challenge their narrow understanding,” he said.

Terrorists Using ‘Abandoned US Arms’ In KP, Balochistan: IG
Inspector General of Balochistan Moazzam Jah Ansari
------
Saleem Shahid
September 15, 2024
QUETTA: Newly appointed Inspector General of Balochistan Moazzam Jah Ansari has said the sophisticated weapons and equipment left behind by US troops during their withdrawal from Afghanistan have fallen into the hands of terrorists and these weapons are being used in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Quetta Press Club on Saturday, along with SSP (operations) Muhammad Baloch and other police officers, IG Ansari said the police force lacks access to advanced weapons, including night vision equipment and modern arms, which are being used by terrorists in their attacks.
He said terrorists have thermal sensors, night vision equipment, and modern weapons, following the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, and are employing them in terror attacks in Balochistan and KP.
IG Ansari said terrorism knows no boundaries, adding that making cooperation with the KP government and security agencies crucial in curbing terrorist movements.
In reply to a question, Mr Ansari, who is serving his second tenure as IG in Balochistan, said: “Intelligence-based, stringent operations are the only effective solution to eradicate terrorism and free the region from its long-standing grip.”
He said the current situation in Balochistan is challenging, with terrorists targeting people, police, Levies, and military personnel. He stressed that the police will ensure public safety by creating a conducive environment for development.
IG Ansari highlighted the reorganisation of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the provision of necessary equipment as crucial steps to combat terrorism in the province effectively. He appealed to the public to collaborate with the forces, assuring that the police would not only ensure peace but also foster an environment conducive to education, employment, and development opportunities.
These young officers from other regions will focus on maintaining peace, without any special package or incentives. Efforts are underway to standardise police salaries with those in other provinces.
Furthermore, the chief minister has pledged full support, including provision of necessary equipment, to strengthen the police force and enhance its effectiveness, he added.
Replying to a question, the IG said a review of the Safe City camera system would be conducted on Monday to enhance continuous monitoring capabilities. He observed that the police culture in Balochistan is more favorable compared to other provinces, with crime rates in the province equivalent to those of just two police stations in Lahore.
IG Ansari pledged improvements in key areas, including Safe City cameras, criminal apprehension, investigation, and prosecution systems, with the Balochistan High Court chief justice offering support and assurances.
He directed his team to adopt a protection and service-oriented policy, committing to work with sincerity, bravery, and dedication. He assured that the police would operate within the law to bring offenders to justice and uphold the rule of law in the province.
Recognising the crucial role of media, IG Ansari emphasised the importance of cooperation between the government, institutions, and media outlets.
He noted that the media provides the public with guidance and informs decision-making, thereby facilitating effective governance.

Speaker Of The Parliament Of Iran Stresses Unity Of Sunnis, Shiites, And All Islamic Sects On Palestine Issue
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf
------
Sep 15, 2024
During an open session of Iran's Parliament on Sunday, Ghalibaf stated, "Today, Gaza is the capital of the hearts of all Muslims in the world and the criterion for distinguishing true Islam from the theatrical and hypocritical Islam."
He further mentioned that the primary aspiration of Sunnis, Shiites, and all Islamic sects is to end the longest genocide in human history, which is the 80-year genocide of the Palestinian people by professional and ruthless Zionist criminals.
The Zionist regime waged a genocidal war on the besieged Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian Hamas Resistance group carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Israel has imposed a complete siege on the densely populated territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

Hindu Outfits Claim Nearly 50 Years Jama MasjidIn Himachal's KulluIllegal, Recite Hanuman Chalisa
By: Sahil Sinha
Sep 14, 2024
Various Hindu outfits in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu raised objections over a mosque's alleged illegal construction, gathered outside the structure and peacefully recited Hanuman Chalisa. This comes amid protests in Shimla over the alleged illegal construction of a mosque.
The members of these groups demanded the removal of Jama Masjid, which has stood for nearly 50 years, claiming that there were unauthorised additions to the mosque's structure.
At the centre of the dispute is a discrepancy over land ownership. The mosque, despite its long-standing presence, is still registered in the name of the Khadi Board, according to official revenue records.
The issue intensified when it was revealed that the mosque had constructed four additional floors without obtaining the necessary permissions. While the mosque was initially granted a two-year period to complete its construction starting in 2000, the work continued until 2017, when a court asked the mosque authorities to halt the construction.

Peaceful Shimla is a fantasy. Mosque protests have made us residents snap out of it
Manik Sharma
15 September, 2024
Ihope you are watching the news, my classmate from Shimla texted me on the afternoon of 11 September. I wasn’t. Nobody watches the news anymore. Unless, of course, it arrives at your doorstep with a thud.
On Wednesday, protesters rallied by local Hindutva organisations clashed with the police in Shimla. The sheer dramatic value of these events has propelled the Himachal Pradesh capital into national consciousness. The last time something like this happened in the city, it was the 2018 drought. Except now, it’s far more sinister and possibly at the point of no return. “Will this be our Ayodhya?” my friend asked. Honestly, I was too dumbfounded to offer an instant denial.
Based on who you ask, a scuffle between inebriated adolescents has been turned into a communal contest. The mosque in question, in the Sanjauli area – where my friend lives by the way – has been around for ages. Originally a one-floor structure, it added two more floors over time, and was dutifully dragged to the local municipal court for it. The matter has been sub judice for more than 14 years. This makes the latest exhibition of mutiny and civil unrest unexpected and, from all viewpoints available, opportunistic.
This isn’t about the mosque, but about importing an edgy form of politics to the relatively untapped reservoirs of Hindu anxiety. Shimla, though it has never seen communal clashes at the scale of major cities, now stands on the cusp of something epochal.

Taj dome leak after cracks in metal set due to rust: ASI
Sep 15, 2024
AGRA: News of the Taj Mahal in Agra being afflicted by water seepage and dampness within its main tombs of emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, as reported by TOI on Friday, quickly spread in India and beyond, with lovers of the monument expressing shock. The development followed a prolonged period of rainfall in Agra, after which experts from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) led a comprehensive inspection of the tombs' roof and dome.
A senior ASI official told TOI on Saturday: "Survey of the main dome was conducted using a drone. Rust was observed on the base of the finial. This rust formation could have led to the development of cracks in the stone, causing water seepage. Repair work will now be undertaken to prevent future water leakage. Moisture was observed inside the main tombs, indicating the possibility of a fine crack on the stones of the dome."
Superintending archaeologist Rajkumar Patel added, "Metal swelling due to rusting developed the possibility of a hairline crack. An investigation is in progress. As the surface of the dome gets dry, the process of grouting and packing will be initiated. It will take some time for dampness to subside from the walls of the mail mausoleum."

However, citing sources, the report said Mr. Durrani, who was appointed to the post in May 2023, failed to make an impact on the Pakistan-Afghanistan relationship. It also said Mr. Durrani had no acceptability in Kabul as he only had a handful of engagements with the Taliban-led interim government.

PM Anwar urges tahfiz students to uphold true Islamic teachings amid Islamophobia, hate groups
15 Sep 2024
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants students who are huffaz (Quran memorisers) to be equipped with true Islamic teachings to prepare them to face groups that are Islamophobic and those who sow hatred through Islam in the country.
“That’s why these children (huffaz) continue to be the focus of our practice. (I’m) confident our future is bright. Hold firm to the belief that the message of Islam is the truth, the message of Islam is the message of justice, one that unifies with compassion and love... this is what we must stand for.
“We understand the rights of non-Muslims, but they should not bring in Western Islamophobic views... cannot speak about Islam. So, we must oppose these parties,” he said.
The Prime Minister said Malaysia also faced the threat of groups which promote Islam with hatred and only consider those aligned with them as good.
“Everyone else is not good. If the government is evil, then only their own tribe and group are good. This kind of tribalism will destroy the society’s pillar of strength.
“So, we must face these two issues, on one hand, Islamophobia, and on the other hand, those who consider themselves as the only Islamic group,” he said.
Anwar said that the MADANI Government also prioritised the future of tahfiz students by providing them with more opportunities to venture into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) with the collaboration of all ministries.

Malaysia’s Islamists Vow to Shut Casino If Party Wins Key State
By AnisahShukry
September 15, 2024
(Bloomberg) -- An Islamic party said it was prepared to shut down Malaysia’s only casino if it wins control of the state where it is located, as the group looks to build its influence in the Southeast Asian nation.
A senior official from Parti Islam Se-Malaysia said if voters in central Pahang state — home to Genting Bhd.’s casino — want gambling to end, they should choose the Islamic party. The party is tapping into concerns by the country’s Muslim majority over gambling, which is forbidden in the Koran.
PAS has been growing its influence since the 2022 elections made it the biggest party in federal parliament. It already controls four of Malaysia’s 13 states and is looking to capture Pahang in the next national election that must be held by early 2028.
“Gambling is harmful, so we have to close it,” AndansuraRabu, PAS’ deputy commissioner for Pahang, said at the party’s annual gathering. “But it must be in accordance with the laws and constitution.”

PM Shehbaz takes allies on board over ‘constitutional package’
Syed Irfan Raza
September 15, 2024
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday took all allied parties into confidence over the proposed constitutional package on the judiciary, which includes a bill to fix the tenure of the Chief Justice of Pakistan at three years. It is expected to be introduced in parliament today (Sunday).
A source, who attended the meeting, told Dawn it was decided that the constitutional package will be first presented in the federal cabinet meeting today (Sunday), and after its approval, it will be tabled in parliament. The source said the premier took all allies into confidence and urged lawmakers from the ruling alliance to ensure their presence in both houses of parliament — the Senate and National Assembly — today (Sunday).
Later, PM Shehbaz also held another meeting with his legal team to review a significant decision of the Supreme Court that ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to implement its July 12 judgement restoring 41 reserved seats of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
Usually sessions of the Senate and NA do not take place on holidays, but both houses met on Saturday, and are likely to meet on Sunday too, apparently to get the constitutional package passed without any further delay. Most probably, the package will be first introduced in the Senate and then in the National Assembly.
The source said the SC judgement disturbed the government’s plan and, therefore, the constitutional package could not be laid in parliament on Saturday.

September 15, 2024
ISLAMABAD: The much-anticipated bill aimed at fixing the tenure of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) was not tabled on Saturday in either house of parliament, with the National Assembly echoing controversial remarks made by PTI founder Imran Khan on social media.
The National Assembly session was adjourned by Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, who was presiding over the house, until today (Sunday), apparently to introduce the bill, which is said to be part of a broader constitutional package.
Tensions flared during the lower house proceedings as members from the opposition and treasury benches exchanged harsh remarks, each criticising the other’s top leadership.
At the start of the National Assembly proceedings, the deputy speaker gave the floor to PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. Following his speech, the opposition accused the deputy speaker of violating the rules by allowing the PPP chief to speak during question hour.
Amid protests from the opposition, the deputy speaker suspended the question hour, allowing several top legislators from both the ruling coalition and the opposition to speak.

KARACHI: Former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar has slammed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for proposing that the province should hold direct talks with Afghanistan on the issue of terrorism.
In an interview on Geo News’ programme Jirga aired on Saturday, Ms Khar said the idea of every province pursuing their foreign policy is “idiotic”.
“Let state be the state. If every province starts pursuing their own foreign policy, it’d be tantamount to challenging the Constitution. Foreign policy is entirely a federal subject,” she said.
Earlier this week, the KP CM expressed his intentions to bypass the federal government and send a delegation to Kabul to speak to the Afghan Taliban government for their help in bringing peace to KP.
The statement provoked strong reactions from the Foreign Office and the federal government, who reminded Mr Gandapur that foreign policy was a federal subject.

Israeli forces stuck in 'dire quagmire' in Gaza
Sep 15, 2024
Former head of operations for the Israeli military, Israel Ziv, said the regime’s genocidal war in Gaza has become the longest and most exhausting war in the regime's history.
More than 11 months into the regime's deadliest-ever war in the besieged Palestinian territory, Israel is “stuck in Gaza and bleeding,” said the retired general.
According to Ziv, Netanyahu has been prolonging the war to maintain his political position and delay his corruption trial, which could lead to his imprisonment. Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.

Alarm in UK and US over possible Iran-Russia nuclear deal
Dan Sabbagh
Sat 14 Sep 2024
Britain and the US have raised fears that Russia has shared nuclear secrets with Iran in return for Tehran supplying Moscow with ballistic missiles to bomb Ukraine.
During their summit in Washington DC on Friday, Keir Starmer and US president Joe Biden acknowledged that the two countries were tightening military cooperation at a time when Iran is in the process of enriching enough uranium to complete its long-held goal to build a nuclear bomb.
British sources indicated that concerns were aired about Iran’s trade for nuclear technology, part of a deepening alliance between Tehran and Moscow.
On Tuesday last week, Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state, made a similar warning on a visit to London for a summit with his British counterpart, David Lammy, though it received little attention, as the focus then was the US announcement of Iran’s missile supply to Moscow.

Iran launches new research satellite Chamran-1 into orbit
14 Sep 2024
Iran has launched a new research satellite into orbit, state media reported, taking another step in advancing its aerospace programme while defying criticism and objections from Western countries.
The primary mission of the Chamran-1 research satellite, which weighs 60kg (132 pounds), “is to test hardware and software systems for demonstrating orbital manoeuvring technology in height and phase”, state media said on Saturday following what it said was a “successful” launch.
The carrier is the country’s first three-stage, solid-fuel satellite launcher, and official media reported its use in January to send a satellite for the first time into an orbit above 500km (310 miles).

Iran says it successfully launched a satellite in its program criticized by West over missile fears
By NASSER KARIMI
September 15, 2024
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran launched a satellite into space Saturday with a rocket built by the country’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, state-run media reported, the latest for a program the West fears helps Tehran advance its ballistic missile program.
Iran described the launch as the second such launch to put a satellite into orbit with the rocket. Independent scientists later confirmed the launch and that the satellite reached orbit.
Footage later released by Iranian media showed the rocket blast off from a mobile launcher. An Associated Press analysis of the video and other imagery later released suggested the launch happened at the Guard’s launch pad on the outskirts of the city of Shahroud, some 350 kilometers (215 miles) east of the capital, Tehran.

Keir Starmer ‘fails to declare clothing gift to wife’ from millionaire party donor
Sara Odeen-Isbister
Sep 15, 2024
Sir Keir Starmer could be investigated for failing to declare donations of clothes to his wife, Victoria.
Prominent Labour donor Lord Alli reportedly gave Lady Starmer money to cover the cost of a personal shopper, clothes and alterations before and after Labour’s election win in July.
The newspaper reported that the Prime Minister approached the parliamentary authorities on Tuesday to make a late declaration after being given updated advice on what needed to be registered.
The guide to the Commons rules states MPs should register ‘any benefit given to any third party, whether or not this accompanied a benefit for him or her, if the Member is aware, or could reasonably be expected to be aware, of the benefit and that it was given because of his or her membership of the House or parliamentary or political activities’.

I’d drip-feed £458 a month into a Stocks and Shares ISA to try for a million
ZavenBoyrazian
15 September 2024
As of 2024, there are over 4,000 ISA millionaires in the UK, most using a Stocks and Shares ISA to build their seven-figure fortunes. It’s not a case of wealthy individuals throwing fortunes into the tax-efficient account. After all, ISAs are restricted to a maximum deposit of £20,000 a year, which would take 50 years to reach £1m.
Instead, it’s a feat primarily achieved by regularly investing capital into markets and letting compounding work its magic. In fact, investors don’t even need to maximise their annual allowance to reach millionaire territory. All it would take is £458 a month when starting from scratch.
The stock market’s a vast and diverse arena of opportunities. And depending on where capital’s deployed, investors can achieve a wide range of returns. Looking at the UK’s flagship indices, the FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 have demonstrated two distinct pathways for investors.

Muslim Families Outraged After Headstones Removed From Bohemian National Cemetery With No Notice
by Molly DeVore
NORTH PARK — Last Sunday, Ayman Halim took his wife, his mother and his 8-month-old son to the Bohemian National Cemetery to commemorate his late father’s 77th birthday. It was his son’s first time visiting the gravesite of his grandfather, who died five years ago, Halim said.
When they arrived, Halim found that his father’s headstone and dozens of others were missing. Returning to the cemetery a few days later, he discovered a pile of Muslim grave markers left beside a dumpster. Now, he and his family want answers.
“It kind of feels like we’re reliving when my father passed away,” said Rabia Halim, Ayman Halim’s sister. “I think for my mom, it was quite disturbing because they went for the anniversary of his birthday.”

When Laura Loomer said she's single because she's too focused on Donald Trump
Sep 14, 2024
Far right activist Laura Loomer once said she's single because her main focus is former president Donald Trump. In 2023, Donald Trump posted the video interview of Laura and wrote 'Thank You'. Months later, it is Laura Loomer who has become a headache of the Republican campaign and Donald Trump had to distance himself from her rabble-rousing that she does for Trump.
Laura Loomer recently created a major stir in the GOP after she said the White House will smell of curry if Kamala Harris becomes the president. This was not her first attack on Kamala Harris but this rattled even Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene who said Laura Loomer does not represent the party and this makes Donald Trump look bad.
But Laura's proximity with Donald Trump set the tongues wagging as Laura joined Trump before the ABC News presidential debate, then she was with Trump at a 9/11 event.

'Disgusting': Trump campaign slams New York Times for 'blood and soil' headline to describe Vance’s ideology
Sep 15, 2024
Republican nominees Donald Trump and JD Vance's campaign ripped The New York Times apart for their headline used against a vice presidential candidate and called it "disgusting."
The New York Times's Opinion columnist Jamelle Bouie used the "JD Vance’s Blood-and-Soil Nationalism Finds Its Target” headline in his article, criticising the vice presidential candidate for his claims that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating pets and wildlife.
Bouie also blamed Vance's speculative comments for a series of bomb threats made against elementary schools, city hall, and other buildings in Springfield, according to the New York Post.
"It’s disgusting that the media is now pushing these ridiculous, violence inciting claims about @JDVance just two months after @realDonaldTrump as nearly assassinated. Also friendly reminder to the media & the left that JD is the father of 3 biracial kids. They should immediately retract and apologize to JD," Bruesewitz said in a post on X.

Muslim school caught up in toxic receivership stoush involving warring charity, nearly $2m
15 Sep 2024
A toxic legal stoush involving a warring charity has seen a trust tipped into receivership, nearly $2 million placed into administration and court orders issued over a Muslim school property in South Auckland.
Police are still investigating the threats and the college is currently being run by a commissioner. There is no suggestion the threats are linked to the dispute.
The special character Islamic college is caught up in a complicated legal dispute involving the Aotearoa Charitable Foundation Trust (ACFT) - which aims to further Muslim religious education - and an associated company called IH Limited (IHL).
The two entities own nearly 4.5ha of land in Mangere’s Westney Road. They were placed in receivership in April by order of the High Court following an application from ACFT trustee TaoufikElidrissi.
Nearly $2m in the trust’s accounts is now under control of the receivers, and there are claims by one party that the money is being used contrary to the purposes of the trust to pay receivership costs and legal bills associated with the standoff.

Kurdish Islamic scholars reject Proposal to amend Iraqi Personal Status Law
2024-09-15
Shafaq News/ The Union of Islamic Scholars in the Kurdistan Region rejected the inclusion of the proposed amendment to the Iraqi Personal Status Law on the parliamentary agenda for Sunday’s session.
The statement quoted Union spokesperson Mullah Abdullah Shirkawi as saying that “the Union of Islamic Scholars in Kurdistan places great importance on religious matters and issues related to personal and family affairs…after reviewing the proposed amendments and the current provisions of Law No. 188 of 1959, which is based on Islamic jurisprudence, the Union believes that the existing law adequately addresses family matters,” noting that the law “has successfully maintained balance and justice among Iraq’s diverse communities, treating citizens equally under a civil framework and fostering social cohesion and family bonds.”
he Union argued that “there is no need to amend the current provisions, as no legal gaps necessitate changes,“ viewing the proposed amendments as “detrimental to both Iraqi and Kurdish societies and suspect ulterior motives behind the proposal.”

Muslim IDF officer says Arab Israelis are increasingly joining military
September 14, 2024
Military service in Israel is compulsory for most Israeli Jews, as well as representatives from the Druze and Circassian minorities. In addition, a few hundred Bedouin-Israelis join Israel Defense Forces on a volunteer basis each year.
Until recently, military service in the IDF has been a sensitive issue for most Muslim Arab Israelis. However, IDF Lt.-Col. (res.) Hisham Abu Raya believes that it is becoming increasingly accepted among Arab Israeli citizens to serve in the Israeli military.
In 2008, Hisham Abu Raya made history as the first non-Bedouin Muslim officer in the IDF. Now, he actively advocates for greater participation of Arab-Israeli youth in military service. Raya who lives in the northern Israeli town of Sakhnin, aims to strengthen the connection between Arab citizens of Israel and the state by encouraging military service as a pathway for integration and civic engagement.
“Up until 10 years ago, you could count the number of non-Bedouin Muslim recruits in the IDF on the fingers of one hand,” Raya said in an exclusive interview with the Times of Israel.

Saudi artist adds local twist to French art movements
Rahaf Jambi
September 14, 2024
RIYADH: In his latest exhibition, Saudi artist Mohammed Al-Aameri is presenting his own take on cubism and fauvism — with a Saudi twist.
“Red Line” at Kenz Gallery in the Al-Mousa Center, Riyadh, is on show until Sept. 20. The works on display draw particular inspiration from fauvism, an early 20th-century art movement known for its bold colors and expressive brushwork, favoring emotional expression through color over strict adherence to realism.
Al-Aameri told Arab News, “My exhibition focuses on expressing feelings and emotions as an alternative to realistic photography, while mixing my own style with techniques inspired by fauvism and cubism. Although fauvism was short-lived, it laid the groundwork for many modern-art movements.”
Through my research, travel, and interaction with many (international) artists, I aim to revive the innovative spirit of these schools in my own style, presenting it in a new and distinctive way in Saudi Arabia.

I never said I’ll be vice president to anyone in 2027 – Peter Obi

In a series of posts via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, Obi stressed he is not desperate to become president or any position but is determined to see Nigeria develop.
He was reacting to an alleged misinterpretation of his recent television interview, claiming that some fifth columnists have resorted to propaganda, deliberately distorting the narrative.
According to him, “My statement was unequivocal, and I am genuinely surprised by the misrepresentation of my words. For the avoidance of doubts, I never stated at any time that I would be vice president to anyone and it’s unequivocal.
