Islam Belongs To Germany: President Steinmeier Says
Amid Growing Racism And Islamophobia Fuelled By Propaganda Of Far-Right Groups
German President
Frank-Walter Steinmeier
-----
Oliver Towfigh Nia
17.09.2023
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Saturday
that Islam belongs to Germany amid growing racism and Islamophobia fuelled by
propaganda of far-right groups and parties that have exploited the refugee
crisis and attempted to stoke fear of immigrants.
“Islam, the Muslim religion, Muslim life, Muslim
culture have taken root in our country,” Steinmeier said at the celebration of
the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Islamic Cultural Centers
(VIKZ) in Cologne.
“Germany is an ideologically neutral state. But
religious freedom does not mean that our country is free of religion. No, it
means giving religions space and protecting the freedom of believers, all
believers.”
A total of 898 anti-Muslim incidents were recorded in
Germany in 2022, while the number of unreported cases remains high, according
to a situation report released in June by the Berlin-based non-governmental
organization, the Alliance Against Islamophobia and Muslim Hostility.
Among the documented cases were 500 verbal attacks, including
inflammatory statements, insults, threats and coercion. Eleven threatening
letters to mosques with "often excessive threats of violence and
death" were recorded. The letters contained Nazi symbols or references to
the Nazi era.
The report noted 190 cases of discrimination and 167
of "injurious behavior." The latter category included 71 cases of
bodily harm, 44 cases of property damage, three arson attacks and 49 other acts
of violence.
In addition, racially motivated attacks on young
people and children are increasing, it said. There are cases where women were
attacked in the presence of their children and pregnant women kicked or hit in
the stomach.
The authors of the study assume that the number of
unreported cases is high because there is no broad media coverage. The first
situation report included data from 10 advice centers in five German states as
well as reports via the "I-Report" portal, statistics for politically
motivated violence, and police and press reports.
Anti-Muslim crimes are often not recognized as such or
those affected did not report them due to a lack of trust in authorities, said
the report. The report calls urges, among other things, the expansion of
reporting structures and raising awareness of the topic by authorities, schools
and the health sector.
A country of more than 84 million, Germany has the
second-largest Muslim population in Western Europe after France. It is home to
more than 5 million Muslims, according to official figures.

LGBTQ Allies Sad That All-Muslim Michigan City Council
Banned Display Of Pride Flags
Darren Shelton, executive
director of Planet Ant Theatre, came to work on his day off so that he could
hang this LGBTQ+ flag in Hamtramck, Michigan, on Tuesday. Photograph: Robin
Buckson/AP
------
September 16, 2023
It was right in the middle of June — better known now
as Pride Month — that the Hamtramck, Michigan city council voted to ban the
display of the Pride flag on public property. The city council is all Muslim,
which was celebrated until the flag decision. A lesbian clown — yes, an actual
clown with a red nose — showed up at a council meeting to protest, to no avail.
It's mid-September now, and the Washington Post for
some reason has decided to revisit the story, noting that allies and members of
the LGBTQ community feel betrayed after being so accepting of Muslims in
"their" city.
An all-Muslim council’s decision to block the display
of Pride flags on city property in a small Michigan town has angered allies and
members of the LGBQT community, who feel the support they provided immigrant
groups has been reciprocated with betrayal. https://t.co/SmIMcuLXft
Cheer up … the president flew a Pride flag on the
White House and invited trans women to flash their fake boobs at a Pride
celebration on the lawn.
“The council’s unanimous vote in the middle of Pride
Month seemed intentional to Stackpoole and others, though the resolution banned
not only the rainbow flag but all flags except for the U.S., state, city and
POW/MIA banners.” pic.twitter.com/jKp64tmMQc
They just assumed everyone would reject the straight
white male Christian Republicans' views, seeing as they're anti-LBGTQ and
anti-Muslim. A shared enemy, right?
Why don't those allies and members of the LGBTQ
community create an "Imams of Perpetual Indulgence" chapter and
protest with public displays of nudity?
Is that how they think this works? Hey we paid you lip
service, now please abandon your social and religious beliefs for us.
https://t.co/WhLxW2RXqn
The Communists are so used to getting their way on
every single issue that it confounds them that immigrants who practice a
notoriously strict religion would dare to oppose the Alphabet Mafia.
This story is old and Pride Month is over, so why is
WaPo doing a sob story on the flag ban now? They must be desperate for
pro-LGBTQ material.

UP Muslim Couple Held For Luring Christian Youth To
Convert To Islam
Muslim Couple Arrested | Representative Image
-----
17th September 2023
SHAMLI: The police have arrested a couple for
allegedly attempting to lure a Christian youth into converting to Islam in
Madalpur village of Uttar Pradesh's Shamli.
The arrested couple, on Saturday, has been identified
as Shaukeen and his wife Kamarbatun, who currently reside in the Okhla area of
Delhi.
Shamli Superintendent of Police, Abhishek, said that
the police received information about the suspicious activities of a youth
named Sooraj and his friend Mahi in Madalpur village.
They were brought to Thanabhawan police station for
interrogation, and what they disclosed was sufficient to conclude that Shaukeen
and his wife Kamarbatun, who introduced herself as a Christian under the name
Mahi, attempted to persuade Sooraj to convert to Islam.
He stated that Sooraj, who had converted to
Christianity two years ago, came into contact with Mahi through an online game,
where she identified herself as a Christian. During their conversation, they
discovered that both were encountering supernatural issues in their lives.
Sooraj informed the police that Shaukeen and Mahi
introduced him to an unknown individual during his visit to Delhi, who attempted
to persuade him that Christianity and Islam are two similar religions, and that
he should consider adopting Islam.
It was only during interrogation that Mahi’s
relationship with Shaukeen was revealed -- that she is, in fact, Shaukeen’s
wife. This clarified that the couple purposefully concealed their relationship
to deceive Sooraj and convert him to Islam, said police.

Tension In Kaduna Community As Islamic Cleric
Slaughters Dog During Son’s Naming Ceremony, Youths Stormed His House
by Muhammad Sabiu
September 16, 2023
Palpable tension is brewing in Nasarawa community, a
suburb in Chikun Local Government of Kaduna State when a lslamic cleric,
Abubakar Sani slaughtered dog meat to celebrate his son’s birth.
When the news spread in the community, irate youths
stormed his house and partly destroyed it before a detachment of security
personnel deployed to the troubled community saved him from further hostilities.
Speaking in an interview, the councillor of the
troubled community, Adamu Muhammad who confirmed the incident said, “Some
aggrieved youths stormed the residence of the cleric when they found out that
he slaughtered two dogs.
“We told them that even if it is true, they can’t take
the law into their hands. We are always trying to maintain law and order, he
stressed.
Speaking in an interview, the Cleric, Abubakar Sani
insisted that there’s nowhere in the Qur’an where it was mentioned that no one
should not eat dog. Citing many verses to back, he said what he did was based
on his understanding of the religious book.
Speaking in the same vein, one of his students, Ismail
AbubakarRijana contended that the holy Qur’an does not prohibit Muslims from
eating dog meat, insisting that “we are Muslims and followers of the Quran. we
equally believe in the Quran as a religious book.
Adding, “the way we practice Islamic religion is different
from how others practice it. We understand that people are not happy with us.
So, based on our knowledge of the Quran, no verse prohibits the eating of dogs.
However, we are ready to change and ask Allah for forgiveness if we are
convinced by verses in the Quran that what we did is wrong.”
Speaking on the controversy, the Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan said the sanity has been restored
in the community following the deployment of security personnel. He said the
police are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, members of the community who spoke to
newsmen while condemning his actions, said what the said cleric did was against
Islamic practice.
Ibrahim Garba, a youth in the community remarked,”this
is a Muslim community. We all know that it is prohibited to eat dog meat in our
religion. We will not allow such practice to persist.
Another resident who pleaded for anonymity posited
that, “we saw some youths moving with two dogs, only to find out later that the
cleric slaughtered the animals to celebrate his son’s birth.
However, since the incident, some Islamic clerics have
started reacting to the development, one of such clerics is the renowned
Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi who condemned the eating of dog meat.
He remarked that “there are two rulings on the issue
of eating dog meat. The Prophet(SAW) prohibited the eating of all animals that
hunt or have canine teeth, which dogs have.
“So it is prohibited, but in another school of
thought, as practised around the Iraq region, it is disliked. But for the ones
we follow, the Prophet(SAW) forbade eating dogs, so literally, people don’t eat
dogs here. So when you come and introduce such a different practice, it will
create reactions, especially when associated with Islamic rites like naming
ceremonies.
“This is because Islam only permits four animals for
religious rites: camel, cattle, sheep or goat. Any other animal, even if it’s
halal like a hen or ostrich, is not allowed to be used for religious sacrifice.
“So their actions are un-Islamic and provocative. They
provoke the general Ummah of Malik School of thought which says it is forbidden
to eat dog meat.”

Islamic Emirate Leader Urges Officials to Treat People
Based on Sharia
The Islamic Emirate’s leader,
Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada,
-----
By Barialai Ansari ,
16-09-2023
The Islamic Emirate’s leader, Mawlawi Hibatullah
Akhundzada, reportedly on a visit to Uruzgan, urged officials to address the
challenges of the citizens based on Sharia.
A spokesman for the Uruzgan governor, Ihsanullah
Hamas, said that the Islamic Emirate's leader held separate meetings with
religious clerics, tribal elders and local officials and stressed the need to
address existing problems in the province.
“In this meeting with the security officials, judges
and provincial administrative officials, (he) instructed them to address the
problems of the people on time and address all of the problems within the
Islamic Sharia,” he said.
The tribal elders in their meeting with the Islamic
Emirate leader called for the interim government’s attention to development
projects.
“In the near future, the construction of a street
which was pledged by the governor will begin. Also work on the Ghazian
electricity dam will begin,” he said.
This comes as political analysts said that the
presence of the Islamic Emirate leader among the public boosts trust building
between the interim government and people.
“This is the good news. We are hoping that he would
appear not only in Uruzgan but also in northern areas and other areas wherever
there is a gathering, and appear to the media, in order to hear the problems
and voices of the people,” said JavidMomand, a political analyst.
“Uruzgan is one of the centres of the Taliban and some
important officials of theirs (Taliban) have also come to Uruzgan. Maybe the
leader of the Islamic Emirate is trying to prevent the opposition in Uruzgan
and give the people of Uruzgan hope,” said Wahid Faqiri, an international relations
analyst.
Earlier, the leader of the Islamic Emirate reportedly
traveled to Herat, Farah, Helmand, Zabul, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak and Kabul.

Amini, a Kurdish-Iranian woman, died three days after
she was arrested by the morality police, allegedly for violating the laws that
require women to cover their hair in public.
Hundreds gathered in central London on Saturday to

woman who died in police custody in Iran last year, sparking worldwide protests
against the country's conservative Islamic theocracy.
Chanting 'Women! Life! Freedom!', crowds of people
held her portrait and rallied around the memory of a young woman who died on
the 16th of September 2022, after she was arrested for allegedly violating
Iran’s mandatory headscarf law. Similar protests took place in Italy, Germany
and France.

Donald Trump skips Iowa gathering of evangelical
Christians. His rivals hope for a chance to gain ground
Sep 16, 2023
DES MOINES: Some of Donald Trump 's top rivals for the
Republican presidential nomination will address a gathering of influential Iowa
evangelical Christians on Saturday night, hoping to woo them away from the
former president at an event he is skipping.
Former Vice President Mike Pence planned to attend the
Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition's annual banquet and town hall in Des Moines
along with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Also
on the schedule of speakers were Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor
who served as Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, as well as Sen. Tim
Scott of South Carolina, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and former
Texas Representative Will Hurd.
The crowd will largely consist of devout and
well-connected social conservatives whose ranks are large enough to play a
decisive role in Iowa's first-in-the-nation Republican caucuses in January.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz used strong appeals to evangelical Republicans to win the
GOP's 2016 caucuses.
Despite skipping the event and many of the gatherings
that attract most of the candidates, Trump has maintained his popularity with
evangelical Christians and social conservatives in Iowa and elsewhere. They
were delighted to see his three picks for the US Supreme Court vote to overturn
the Roe v Wade decision last year and erase a federally guaranteed right to
abortion.

Libya probes the collapse of two dams after flood

Sep 16, 2023
DERNA: Libyan authorities have opened an investigation
into the collapse of two dams that caused a devastating flood in a coastal city
as rescue teams searched for bodies on Saturday, nearly a week after the deluge
killed more than 11,000 people.
The floods overwhelmed two dams, sending a wall of
water several metres (yards) high through the centre of Derna, destroying
entire neighbourhoods and sweeping people out to sea.
More than 10,000 are missing, according to the Libyan
Red Crescent. Six days on, searchers are still digging through mud and
hollowed-out buildings, looking for bodies and possible survivors. The Red
Crescent has confirmed 11,300 deaths so far.
Claire Nicolet, who heads the emergencies department
of the Doctors Without Borders aid group, said rescuers found “a lot of bodies”
on Friday and were still searching.

Islamic Emirate Increasing Efforts to Raise Chabahar
Port Activity
By Habib Rahman Qooyash
17-09-2023
Officials in the Islamic Emirate said that they have
increased their efforts to develop the activity of Iran's Chabahar port with
the aim of not harming the merchants of the country and not relying on a single
transit route.
Zabiullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate,
emphasized that with the increase of the capacity in Chabahar port and the
activation of the railway of the route with Afghanistan, the problems of the
merchants will be solved to a large extent.
“We are trying to prevent losses to our traders. Our
traders should not rely on one country, one path, and one way. Chabahar is
active now,” said a spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.

urban areas of the federal capital.
“More than 60 garbage bins and trolleys kept in
various streets…have been taken away by thieves in a month,” CDA Sanitation

containers were being sold at a junkyard in G-12.
The sanitation staff assisted the police in

A knockout blow to already struggling citizens
Shazia Hasan
September 17, 2023
KARACHI: “They may call it a ‘petrol bomb’ that is
dropped on the nation by the government every fortnight, but really even if we
want to get some petrol to pour over ourselves and end our misery, we are
forced to think again, not about the preciousness of life, but about spending
so much on petrol,” said a father of four, a salaried employee at a local bank,
on Saturday.
While speaking to Dawn, he added: “I have not used my
car for days now. I am going to work on my old motorcycle. If things continue
like this, I might sell the car. I mean, what’s the point of keeping it?”
At the strike of midnight on Sept 15, petrol prices
were raised from Rs305.36 per litre to Rs331.38 while diesel went up from
Rs311.84 to Rs329.18.

Why it matters: The decision is a significant escalation
by Iran that could hamper the UN nuclear watchdog's ability to monitor Tehran's

Sep 17, 2023
New Delhi: Microsoft analysts have said that Iranian
state-backed hackers targeted satellite, defence, and pharmaceutical companies
around the world in order to gather intelligence and perhaps build up domestic
production in these industries amid heavy US sanctions.
Since February, the hackers have successfully breached
several organisations by applying a simple hacking technique, indicating the
high level of determination from Tehran’s hacking teams, according to
Microsoft. (Also Read: BIG Bonanza For OnePlus Customers Ahead Of Diwali! Get

IAEA blasts Iran over latest inspector exclusion
16 September, 2023
The United Nations nuclear watchdog on Saturday
condemned the "disproportionate and unprecedented" move by Iran to
withdraw accreditation from several of its most experienced inspectors.
"Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran informed me
of its decision to withdraw the designation of several experienced Agency
inspectors assigned to conduct verification activities in Iran under the NPT
Safeguards Agreement," IAEA director general Rafael Grossi said in a

"With today's decision, Iran has effectively

Israeli occupation forces brutally assault Muslim
worshipers at entrance to Al-Aqsa
17/September/2023
JERUSALEM, Sunday, September 17, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli
occupation forces brutally attacked Muslim worshippers this morning at Bab
as-Silsila (the Chain Gate), one of the main entrances to the Al-Aqsa Mosque
compound in occupied Jerusalem, according to local sources.
The sources reported that the occupation forces
physically assaulted and beat up three worshippers, including an elderly man
and elderly woman, near the Chain Gate. This violent assault occurred after the
three had peacefully protested against an Israeli settler who blew a horn at
the entrance to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The incident came as Israeli occupation forces
intensified their presence around the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem,
hindering Muslim worshipers from accessing the mosque's courtyards and impeding
the entry of Palestinian citizens and students to the compound to facilitate
the entry of Israeli Jewish settlers on Rosh Hashanah.
