July 08, 2023
India has developed a nationalism that is fierce, but
essentially inward-focused, and of late there is discrimination against Muslims
that is permitted through law, Aakar Patel, Chair of the Board of Amnesty
International in India, has said.
He was here on Saturday to deliver a lecture on
‘Akhand Bharat: Reimagining South India’ in memory of writer-filmmaker Chintha Raveendran,
popularly known as ‘Chintha Ravi’. Mr. Patel also presented veteran journalist
P. Sainath with an award named after Ravi.
Mr. Patel said Muslims were the only communities for
whom divorce had been criminalised. “After 2018, marriages between Hindus and
Muslims were criminalised too in eight States ruled by the BJP [Bharatiya
Janata Party]... There are States that have the power to annul marriages even
if the couple have children,” he pointed out.
Mr. Patel said the ruling party in India did not have
a Muslim MP, neither in the Lok Sabha nor in the Rajya Sabha. “There is no
Muslim Cabinet Minister for the first time in the history of India. There is no
Muslim Chief Minister anywhere in India. The BJP has around 1,000 MLAs across
States, none of them is a Muslim. The idea is that there should be friction
between communities for the democracy to work,” he said.
Mr. Patel pointed out that the Congress was also not
different when it came to representation. Of the 1,000 AICC members across the
country in 1947, only 3% were Muslims. The then Muslim League was correct when
it accused the Congress of being a “Hindu party”. That trend had been
transferred to the BJP in the 80s and 90s.
He said the idea of a government in India was highly
centralised and top down and Delhi-based. “It is believed this is the only way
to control the subcontinent. Also, we believe that our primary threat comes
from Pakistan. Till 2020, 25 of the 38 divisions of the Indian Army were facing
Pakistan. After the Galvan incident, though the number of divisions facing
China has increased, most number of them are still focused on Pakistan,” he
said.
Mr. Patel said that in terms of per capita of the
Gross Domestic Product, the country’s economic output per person, as documented
by the World Bank, India’s performance was almost similar to that of its
neighbours, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This was the case with human development
indices as well. He claimed that there was a link between the poor economic
growth and the brand of fierce nationalism being practised in South Asia.

‘Punjabiyat First’: Villagers Come Together To Restore
Mosques Abandoned After Partition

Brick by brick, in villages across Punjab, efforts are
on to tear down the walls raised by Partition. In a state that saw the Muslim
population plunge from more than 40% at the time of Independence to 1.93% now,
villagers are opening purse strings and, often, Gurdwaras to help restore
abandoned mosques.
More than 165 have been restored in the past few
years, says the Punjab branch of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
One of these under restoration is in Bakhatgarh
village in Barnala district, where the initiative was taken by Amandeep Singh,
a farmer, who in December 2022 donated 250 sq yards for the construction of a
mosque. Soon, money was pouring in from fellow villagers. After Rs 2 lakh were
raised, neighbouring villages pitched in with cement and bricks. A local Muslim
family installed a submersible pump for the mosque.

Homosexuality Is A Sexual Perversion and a Heinous
Crime, Says Imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah
In the Friday sermon at the
Grand Mosque in Makkah, Sheikh Faisal Ghazzawi denounced Islamophobia and
malicious campaign being unleashed against Islam and Muslims.
-----
July 08, 2023
MAKKAH — Sheikh Faisal Ghazzawi, imam and preacher of
the Grand Mosque in Makkah, cautioned the faithful to be wary of the growing
immoral tendencies in the society, especially sexual perversion, saying that
homosexuality is a heinous crime.
In his Friday sermon at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, he
underlined the need to uphold moral values and maintain the sanctity of marital
relations. “God Almighty has made marriage between a man and a woman a
universal law, but Satan misleads the servants of God to transgress the limits
set by God and commit what is repulsive to good natures. This situation reached
a level where the devilish forces poised to obliterate the innate nature and
mislead people to introduce laws legitimizing marriage of a man with a man (gay
marriage) and a woman with a woman (lesbian marriage), intermarriage with
animals, incitement to sexual perversion and all kinds of pornography as they
call it civilization while they take a hostile stance against those who
disprove this and label them backward people and extremists,” he said while
cautioning that such people fight purity and virtue, as they succumbed to
immorality and vice, and subjected to moral degradation, value collapse, and
descent into bestial behaviours.
Sheikh Ghazzawi affirmed that God Almighty created His
servants on the right instinct and made them prefer virtues and hate evil and
ward it off. The imam stressed that Satan distracted people from the true
religion, making them violate God’s laws and rulings, and deviate from what is
required by sound minds and generous instincts. God created humans and made
them into two types, male and female and differentiated between them. He made
each one of them their own characteristics and attributes.
The imam noted that Satan’s intervention to instigate
men and women to violate their innate nature. “Then comes someone who
contradicts his nature and tries to change natural gender of human beings so
that a man turns into a woman, and a woman turns into a man,” he said while
quoting the Tradition of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in this regard. “The
Prophet cursed the effeminate men and the immodest women.”
Sheikh Ghazzawi denounced Islamophobia and malicious
campaign being unleashed against Islam and Muslims, while citing the incidents
of burning of the copy of the Holy Qur’an as the latest example for this.
“Those slanderers who break the innate nature and change the creation of God
have become spiritually bankrupt and have negated all human and civilized
values, as they are suffering from moral crises and social problems. They
provoke the feelings of Muslims everywhere by waging offensive campaigns and
hostile acts against the Islamic world under the pretext of freedom of opinion.”
“These acts include burning the copy of the Holy
Qur’an, humiliating and desecrating it, and discrediting the Prophet (peace be
upon him) through mocking and defaming him and questioning his Sunnah. Thus,
they showed their hidden hatred against Muslims and fueled the fire of hatred
and violence,” the imam said while noting that all these acts, by the grace of
God, are desperate attempts to block the path of God and distort the image of
Islam.

'One Heart, One Wrist': Erdogan Urges Muslim Unity
Against Islamophobia

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has emphasised
the need for collective action to address escalating Islamophobia and
xenophobia in Western nations.
"The vile attack on our sacred book, the Quran,
in Sweden on the first day of Eid al Adha reveals the terrifying dimensions of
Islamophobia," he said in a video sent to 46th Annual Convention of the
Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America on Saturday.
"All of us, all Muslims, have a great
responsibility to ensure that such acts, to which we react very strongly in
Türkiye, do not recur. If we act as one heart and one wrist, no one in the
world would dare to attack the sanctities of Muslims," he said.
Erdogan also acknowledged the strong bond between
Türkiye and Pakistan as two brotherly nations, highlighting exceptional relations
between the two countries.
Anger has spiked in Muslim countries when a man,
identified in Swedish media as an Iraqi Christian immigrant, burned a Quran
outside a mosque in Stockholm on Eid al Adha.
Thousands protested in Pakistan and Iraq, Morocco recalled
its envoy to Sweden, Iran delayed appointing a new ambassador to Sweden, and
other countries denounced the act in protest against Stockholm.

China And Egypt’s Efforts To Classify Muslim
Brotherhood As An International Terrorist Organization
Photo: Modern Diplomacy
-----
By Dr. Nadia Helmy
08-07-2023
Considering that I was and still is, until this
moment, the Egyptian and Arab academic closest to the experts and centres of
thought of political Islam in China during the period of the Arab Spring
revolutions. From the events and to understand the nature of that stage from a
different point of view, many may not have had the opportunity to view, archive
and document it, given the fear of the Chinese immediately after announcing the
arrival of the banned Brotherhood to power in Egypt and the region from
announcing their alliance with the Americans in confronting the Chinese and
their interests in Cairo, so it was the first real published message It was published officially on the website of
the Egyptian Al-Shorouk newspaper, and it was specifically published on
Tuesday, December 13, 2011, after the revolution of January 25, 2011. It was
titled: “China seeks alliance with (political Islam) against America”. Through
it, I expressed the Chinese point of view and their fear of any possible
alliance between the Muslim Brotherhood in the first place and the American
side, so my strict message came to everyone, that China welcomed at the time,
according to the signs and indications that appeared at the time, using
Washington as a pressure card for the Muslim Brotherhood in confronting the
Chinese. Therefore, at the time, she officially expressed, in a published
dialogue, the official view of China and the leaders of the ruling Communist
Party in China, regarding China’s endeavor and welcome to ally with political
Islam in the face of the Americans to get rid of their extremism and terrorism
in the first place. This is what is
actually happening now, in view of this great rapprochement between the United
States of America and its unlimited support for the Muslim Brotherhood, which
the political system in Egypt and a number of countries in the region have
officially classified as banned terrorists.
Thus, from my point of view and my vision of the general political scene
between Beijing and Washington, political Islam groups, led by the banned
Muslim Brotherhood, have been antagonized as a pressure card to confront the
Chinese and their interests by the Americans.
Personally, I became more vulnerable than any other academic to being
targeted by the banned terrorist Brotherhood, to the extent that they follow me
in the streets and everywhere, by issuing media invitations and activities to
me, and then I am surprised after that they practice violent bullying methods
in confronting me with the threat of the Chinese through me, which is what It aroused the ire and concern of the leaders
of the Chinese Communist Party and its comrades in confronting the violence of the
banned terrorist Brotherhood in confronting me and the Chinese with the
generous and full support of the CIA and the Israeli Mossad, given the arrival
of proven threats to me regarding the relationship of the Israeli Mossad and
its agencies with the banned Brotherhood and the countries that sponsor
terrorism in the region. This is the email that I have already p
It has also become obligatory for me to make a public
statement for the first time globally, and I ask those working in (the archives
of the Egyptian presidency) to search for (an official telegram sent by me to
the ousted President “Mohamed Morsi” in 2012), specifically in July or August
2012, and that Just before the ousted
President “Muhammad Morsi” traveled to
China in August 2012, this telegram sent by me specifically to the presidency
of the Egyptian Republic at the time of the ousted “Muhammad Morsi” contained
China’s official view in the face of the banned Brotherhood, that your
invitation to China is an attempt to contain you in the face of The United States of America, and I mentioned
in my official telegram sent to the Presidency of the Republic at the time,
that there are many Chinese fears of your standing – i.e. the banned Muslim
Brotherhood at that time – against humanity, civilization and the global
urbanization movement, through the Chinese fear of restricting the banned
Brotherhood during the days of the isolated “Muhammad Morsi” for ballet and
opera performances, and even for the exclusion of women and all those modern
civil activities by his group and the Muslim Brotherhood’s guidance office at
that time is proven by evidence, which aroused the anger, anxiety and anger of
the leaders in Beijing given its strong respect for civilization, civilization
and modernity, and the Chinese Communist Party and its leader adopted the
Chinese comrade President “Xi Jinping”
for the “Global Civilization Initiative”, and Comrade “Xi Jinping” officially
launched the Global Civilization Initiative, to link all countries, states and
regions of the world with ancient civilizations such as China and Egypt in the
face of any external interference in confronting them.
And what I will announce for the first time globally,
and perhaps it will be shocking to many, to Washington itself, and to the West
as well, considering that they were and still are among the most hostile to me
due to my closeness to the Chinese and my upbringing among the children of
communist comrades in Beijing since my first university years – after my
request today by officials in the archives of the Presidency of the
Republic of Egypt – Searching for the
telegram of the aforementioned sender to the presidency of the Egyptian
Republic just prior to the visit of the isolated “Mohamed Morsi” to China in
August 2012, is my falling under severe revenge and real street war by the
Guidance Office of the banned Brotherhood and the international organization of
the banned Brotherhood, given my attack on them according to An email sent to the Egyptian Presidency and
to the deposed “Mohamed Morsi”, expressly declaring in it the fear of the
Chinese, prior to his visit to Beijing, that the banned Brotherhood would stand
against any civilization, civil or humanity, and the enormous anger of the
Chinese and their fear of the banned Brotherhood’s cancellation of ballet
performances and several cultural and artistic activities and events. and modern civilization. Then I suggested, in
my telegram sent to the Egyptian Presidency in August 2012, that the Muslim Brotherhood
should prove that they are with the movement of civilization and modern
civilization in relation to the Chinese, who fear their access to power and any
attempts to obstruct and restrict the modern Egyptian civil state.
And I believe, after remembering the incident of this
telegraph, that this is the realistic and real proof of the search for reasons
for fighting the organization of the Muslim Brotherhood, which was banned for
me in the first place until this moment, by subjecting me to a systematic and
deliberate war of revenge, because I conveyed to them at the time and with
great honesty the point of view of China that demands civilization,
civilization and modernity from them, and with the insistence of the party leaders The Chinese Communist to make Egypt and
preserve its modern, civilized character that encourages ballet performances,
arts, literature and culture. This is
what the banned Brotherhood fought fiercely by excluding all enlightened
leaders from the state ministries of Culture, Arts, Literature and Science at
the time. I ask the Egyptian Presidency
to refer to my aforementioned telegraph to confirm what I mentioned through it,
and to understand the reasons for the street war that I am waging today alone in
the face of the banned Brotherhood and its affiliates in the streets and on the
roads to my doorstep, and for no intelligible reason other than acts of
reprisal from me and the Chinese, as I understood. To provoke and provoke the American side that
supports the Brotherhood by calling on all currents of political Islam to leave
their allegiance to the Americans, and then to give advice – based on the
desire of the Chinese – to the Egyptian presidency at the time of the isolated
Mohamed Morsi and the banned Brotherhood not to stand against the Egyptian
civil movement and modernity.
Hence, after all of you understanding the situation,
it has become imperative for me to stand firmly with the Chinese in confronting
the attempts of the Guidance Office of the banned Brotherhood and the
international organization of the banned terrorist group of the Muslim
Brotherhood to terrorist me and to exert extreme pressure and bullying in my
confrontation because of what I mentioned of sending me a proven, documented
and registered telegram with acknowledgment of receipt to the Egyptian
Presidency During the days of “Mohamed
Morsi”, I demand from him and his group that China is angry with them for
standing against civilization, humanity, modernization, and civilization, by focusing
on their cancellation of ballet performances in the Egyptian opera and so
on. Thus, you will understand, and you
will all understand, the reason for that bullying and the random street war
that the organization of the banned Brotherhood group exposed me to in the
heart of the streets of Cairo, after I was accused by them of causing the
Chinese to worry about them during the days of the isolated “Mohamed Morsi” and
the banned Brotherhood’s guidance office.
Here, I and the Chinese agree with the statement of
Egyptian President “Abdel Fattah El-Sisi”, that there is a deliberate confusion
among the members of the banned Brotherhood between their political and
ideological opponents, mainly like us, and those who stand against religion in
the first place, considering, gentlemen and the great people of Egypt, that our
issue with them is not religious at all, but rather Basically political, and that is the danger
for me, the Chinese, and President “El-Sisi”, for the banned Brotherhood to use
the card of “politicizing religion and Islam according to what their personal
interests require,” which was actually evident from President El-Sisi’s
question in his speech at an economic conference in Cairo in October 2022,
about: “Were (the revolutions of January 25, 2011 and June 30, 2013) the main
cause of all those (crises and challenges) that we face today?… President
El-Sisi’s answer was simply (yes), because it provided an opportunity for
political Islam represented in The
terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group, which is banned from reaching power.. With
a tone of denunciation, he continued: “When (political Islam) came to power, it
failed, did not admit its failure, and began to consider that we are against
religion, and therefore it prepared us all and today asks us for
reconciliation”.
And based on our full understanding of the situation
here, it has become necessary to present the Chinese questions to the American
side itself about the reasons for not including and classifying the Muslim
Brotherhood as a terrorist group according to the classification of the list of
terrorists in the American administration, in which the Secretary of State and
the Secretary of the Treasury in cooperation with the Minister of Justice must
provide evidence and data to Congress, in
turn, approves or objects to classifying the organization or group in the list
of terrorism in accordance with Article (219) of the US Immigration and
Nationality Act, which has already been presented and proven in the face of the
crimes of the banned terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group in Egypt, the region
and China. In order to fully and
accurately understand how any party is classified as a terrorist organization
by the US administration, that organization or this organization, such as the
terrorist Brotherhood, must be foreign and engaged in terrorist activities, and
its activities constitute a threat to US national security or the security of
US citizens and others. Accordingly,
Washington included a number of those extremist terrorist organizations that
are mainly associated with the banned terrorist group, the Brotherhood, and
their relationship with them and their emergence from the womb of the
international terrorist organization of the banned Brotherhood, such as: the
organizations of the “Army of Islam”, “Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades”, “The
Palestine Liberation Front” and “The Popular Front for the Liberation of
Palestine”, as the US administration officially included them in the list of
terrorist organizations. All of these extremist organizations are known to be
linked in one way or another to the banned terrorist Brotherhood in Egypt, the
region and the world, with the full knowledge of the American
administration.
Bearing in mind that in the event of a classification
decision, the US Department of State and Treasury shall prepare a record of the
individual or organization concerned, freeze the balances and assets of the
entity or individual in the United States or in institutions under US influence
and control, and notify the US financial institutions of the ban decision and
request the seizure of the individual’s balances. or terrorist entity. Therefore, the Chinese
and the experts and centers of political Islam have questioned the reasons for
Washington’s refusal to include them as an international terrorist
organization, even though it is the mother organizational movement from which
hundreds of terrorist extremist organizations emerged, officially classified as
terrorist according to the classification of the US State Department and the US
Treasury. This raises many question
marks about the relationship of the United States of America with terrorist
organizations such as the banned terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, and the extent
and method of using them politically and ideologically in confronting those who
disagree with the American administration, such as China, Egypt, and others, to
interfere in their affairs and destabilize them through members of the banned
Brotherhood in Egypt, the region, and China.
Accordingly, we find the United Nations resorting
itself as an international platform to classify a number of international
terrorist extremist organizations at the top of their list of internationally
and internationally banned terrorist targets, such as: the Al-Qaeda
organization in Afghanistan, which essentially emanates from the womb of the
banned terrorist group, the Muslim Brotherhood, whose founder, Osama bin Laden,
was born and raised at its hands.
According to his internationally documented acknowledgment, which is
what called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations, “Antonio Guterres”,
specifically in August 2021, calling on the UN Security Council to “use all
available means to suppress the global terrorist threat of terrorists in
Afghanistan and other countries around the world associated with it”. Knowing
that there is a close and confirmed relationship between Al-Qaeda in
Afghanistan and the banned Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, the region and the
Gulf, there is a policy of “double standards” regarding the classification of
the banned Muslim Brotherhood as an international, American and international
terrorist organization by the United Nations, like other organizations. These terrorist organizations are the subject
of great questions from China and from our side as well. The failure of the
banned Brotherhood’s rule in Egypt and the region, coupled with its overthrow
and removal from power, and the escape and accession of a number of its
followers and symbols to al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and the Taliban movement,
which was a huge morale boost for these anti-Western jihadists all over the
world, was the escape of terrorists from the group The banned Brotherhood from Egypt After the
departure and overthrow of the rule of the banned Brotherhood and their
President, “Mohamed Morsi”, it is a tempting prize for the fighters of the
so-called Islamic State, who are looking to find a new stronghold for them
after defeating the declaration of the caliphate state that they declared
themselves in Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and others. Senior Western officers and politicians have
warned of a close relationship between the banned Brotherhood, the flight of
its cadres from Egypt and their prosecution, the strong return of al-Qaeda to
Afghanistan, and the spread of many extremist terrorist organizations around
the world that emerged or will emerge from the womb of the terrorist
Brotherhood organization, especially after its cadres escaped from Egypt after overthrowing the rule of the
ousted “Muhammad Morsi” and his group, as the British Prime Minister himself,
“Boris Johnson”, warned, in his speech after an emergency meeting, of the need
for Western countries to unite to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a haven for
international terrorist groups again, and I consider with the official Chinese
side that The union of Al-Qaeda in
Afghanistan with the cadres and elements of the Muslim Brotherhood organization
banned in Egypt and the region causes many risks to the security and stability
of Egypt, the region, Sinai and China mainly, given the extensions of those
extremist organizations with the (East Turkistan separatist movement) banned in
China in the Xinjiang region and the Chinese territories.
The Chinese, Egyptian, and international question
remains as well, directed by us to the Americans, and given their ban on many
factions, groups, movements, and dispersed organizations in most parts of the
world that have extensions, relations, and entanglements with the banned
Brotherhood in Egypt and the region, including local groups and organizations,
such as: Al-Qaeda Organization for the Arab Maghreb and Ansar al-Islam in The Kurdistan region of Iraq, Ansar al-Sharia
in Libya and the Islamic State in West Africa, led by “Abu Musab al-Barnawi”. In addition to the emergence of other
Salafi-jihadi organizations and movements in different regions, some of which
declared absolute loyalty to the international terrorist Brotherhood
organization, Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and its leader, Osama bin Laden, and
others that emerged from it, but later established independent organizations
with their own agendas without referring to Al-Qaeda or the banned Brotherhood,
but it became clear that there are extensions, relations and entanglements with
it, which means that the banned Brotherhood must be classified as an international,
American and even international terrorist group from the United Nations
platform, given its international crimes and its international extensions,
effects and complex entanglements.
And one of the most dangerous of these extremist
organizations emanating from the womb of the banned terrorist organization of
the Muslim Brotherhood is the state organization known as (Wilayat Sinai
terrorist organization), as one of the most prominent of these extremist groups
linked to the banned terrorist group of the Muslim Brotherhood. The “Sinai Province” organization in Egypt
was previously known as the “Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis” organization before
announcing its pledge of allegiance to the “Islamic State” organization in
November 2014, immediately after removing the banned Brotherhood’s rule. Ansar
Bayt al-Maqdis came into existence after the January 2011 revolution, mainly
linked to the terrorist Brotherhood and the Hamas movement, according to what
has been proven, when Palestinian gunmen joined the Egyptian “Tawhid and Jihad”
group, which was mainly active in Sinai, and together they formed this
group. The group began its operations in
Sinai after the overthrow of the deposed president, “Mohamed Morsi” in 2013, and
all security and intelligence sources in Egypt confirm the existence of a
relationship between all those extremist organizations and movements on the
land of Sinai and the banned terrorist Brotherhood, which sought revenge on the
great people of Egypt after the overthrow of the rule of The banned and ousted Brotherhood, “Mohamed
Morsi”, focused its activities on the Egyptian security forces and army in
Sinai, and then expanded the scope of its extremist criminal and terrorist
activities to include Cairo, Giza and all other Egyptian governorates. It also
became clear that the terrorist Brotherhood took revenge on the people of Egypt
after it was overthrown in the revolution of June 30, 2013, and extended and
expanded the scope of its operations until it reached the Western Desert, given
the terrain of that mountainous region, which helped Takfiri expiatory
terrorists from the banned Brotherhood hide inside, as well as its proximity to
the border. Libyan. In addition to the proven hatred of the
banned Brotherhood organization against the Copts of Egypt, and the expansion
of its attacks against Christians, by targeting their churches, monasteries and
religious rites. This proves, on an
international level, the extent of the criminality of the terrorist Brotherhood,
whose operations included suicide attacks, shootings from speeding cars,
beheadings, and field executions in full view of the international community,
in addition to its involvement in proven and documented international crimes
and assassinations against the international terrorist Brotherhood organization
with evidence.
As it became clear to the Egyptian security and
intelligence services and the international community, the emergence of several
international terrorist organizations that arose from the womb of the terrorist
Brotherhood group to commit crimes against the people of Egypt and the region
and crimes against humanity, especially after the overthrow of the banned
Brotherhood’s rule after the Egyptian people left on June 30 in the face of the
terrorism and violence of the Takfiri expiatory group of the banned terrorist
Brotherhood, such as: the “Wilayat Sinai”, “Jund al-Islam”, “Soldiers of Egypt”
and “Al-Mourabitoun”. Evidence shows the extent to which all these armed and
terrorist groups and movements in Egypt are linked to the banned terrorist
group.
Therefore, the Chinese wondered about the reasons why
the US administration did not officially list and classify the banned
Brotherhood as a terrorist group by the US State Department and the Treasury
Department responsible for that. Hence
the Chinese authorities’ official realization of the danger of the banned
Brotherhood as a terrorist group, given its close ties and entanglements with
the (East Turkestan Islamic Party) in the Chinese Xinjiang region, which the
Chinese authorities and its ruling Communist Party describe as terrorist
separatism, as this movement is based in the “Waziristan” region in Pakistan is its official headquarters, and
most of its members are from the Uyghur minority belonging to the East
Turkestan Movement in Xinjiang. The United States of America has actually
included it in the list of terrorist organizations for twenty years, but it
removed it from the list several years ago, justifying that there is no
evidence of its existence or the continuation of its activities. However, what
raised the concerns of the Chinese authorities is the emergence of the name and
movement of the East Turkestan Party clearly with the terrorist Brotherhood
organization in Egypt and the Middle East and the Islamic State organization in
Syria and Iraq, which has been linked to the banned terrorist Brotherhood
extensions since 2014, with the fear of the Chinese authorities and its ruling
Communist Party about the close relationship between the extremists of the
banned East Turkestan Movement and the international organization of the
terrorist Brotherhood, and the extent of their assistance to it with the
al-Qaeda organization in Afghanistan to recruit thousands of terrorists
belonging to the separatist East Turkestan Movement in the Chinese Xinjiang
region to travel through Turkey, to fight to
On the side of the opposition forces against the Syrian government. This
was rejected by the Chinese authorities and demanded the extradition of these terrorists
in Syria from the banned East Turkestan movement. Here
the Syrian ambassador to China announced in 2017 that
the number of Uyghur fighters in Syria had reached 5,000, but China’s envoy for
the Syrian crisis said: “Certainly there is a concentration of terrorists from
the East Turkistan Islamic Movement in these areas, this is certain, but their
number is unknown”.
Hence, we understand the reasons for China’s clear
attachment to the need to classify the Brotherhood as an international,
American and international terrorist group, given its entanglements, influences
and close ties to the banned East Turkistan separatist movement in the Chinese
Xinjiang region, as well as the exploitation of the CIA and the Israeli Mossad
of those extremist terrorist organizations and movements to destabilize the
state. China, Egypt, the Arab Gulf
region, the entire Middle East and the African continent to negatively
influence China’s interests and investments in those regions and countries by
using the pressure card of the banned terrorist Brotherhood in Egypt, the
region and China. Therefore, it seems
reasonable to imagine the extent of their relations with the United States of
America and the West to implement the agenda of destabilizing our countries,
our national institutions, and our security, to ensure control over us by a
handful of paid terrorists led by the international organization of the banned
terrorist group, the Brotherhood. This
is the real reason for the US administration’s refusal to classify them as
separatist terrorist organizations in order to achieve their interests in
confronting Egypt, China and the countries of the region mainly.

American slams J&K policy but doesn’t factor
Islamist militancy
Jul 9, 2023
Between 2006 and 2008, a young American, David Lepeska,
found himself in Kashmir where he ultimately secured a job as correspondent in
a local newspaper. As a reporter he had the rare opportunity of witnessing the
distress of ordinary Kashmiris. Most of what he saw appalled him.
For, as he explains in the book, the “mission of a
foreign correspondent, as I see it, is to move beyond one’s origins and latch
onto a new narrative. The fears and concerns of the local population become
your own, to an extent. My goal was to see through their eyes, while maintaining
my own perspective so as to connect with readers back home.”
It took the author 15 years to rustle up a book on his
Kashmir experiences. His assessment of Kashmir’s troubled history is quite fair
and displays a clarity rare among Western writers on the subject. However, the
timing of the book is intriguing as is its trenchant criticism of the current
government’s handling of Kashmir. It is almost as if the author has been told
to cobble together a book to slam the present government on its Kashmir policies.

Islamic finance assets in Qatar up 6.5% to QR635bn
09 Jul 2023
Doha, Qatar: Bait Al-Mashura Finance Consultations
(BAM) released the annual report on Islamic Finance in Qatar, which reviews the
performance of Islamic finance institutions in Qatar, including Islamic Banks
(IBs), Takaful Insurance companies (TIs), and Islamic Finance and Investment
companies (IFIs) during the year 2022. It also reviews Islamic financial
products, including investment funds, sukuk, and the movement of the Islamic
financial market. It aims at offering a knowledge base to the institutions,
researchers, and those who are interested in the Islamic finance at the local
level. It also presents the results of the year 2022 along with the accumulated
study of the five years.
Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, the vice

financial system that promotes moral values and strives for the economic
well-being of the individual and society on the basis of transparent,
well-governed foundations. Transparency and clarity are fundamental pillars for
stakeholders in legitimate financial transactions. Hence, the role of reports
that support such a purpose and illustrate the weaknesses and strengths in the
industry, development, and innovation areas. We, at Bait Al-Mashura, are keen
to strengthen such rules, which are considered a basic starting point for
researchers, interested parties, and even institutions, through our series of
reports, research, and studies that discuss the Islamic finance sector in Qatar,
and give a clear picture of its reality and a forward-looking vision for its
future.
He also stated that the Qatari economy outperformed
projections in 2022, expanding at a rate of 4.8%. The Planning and Statistics
Authority in Qatar estimates that the country’s GDP at constant prices (2018)
reached QR690.1bn, up from QR658.3bn in 2021. At current prices, the GDP rose
to QR863.8bn, a 32% increase from 2021. The projected GDP growth rate for the
fiscal year 2023 is anticipated to surpass 3%. The financial and insurance
activities sector made a significant contribution to the GDP, accounting for
8.1% of the total. This amounted to QR70.4bn at current prices, representing a
growth rate of 11.9% compared to the previous year of QR62.9bn.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi

Elsewhere in his remarks, President Rayeesi affirmed

Rights Group: Iran Leaves 2 Journalists in Legal Limbo
to Avoid Global Spotlight
July 09, 2023
Michael Lipin
WASHINGTON - A U.S. media rights group says Iran has
kept two jailed female journalists in legal limbo for more than a month after
their trials began as a ploy to make global attention fade as it figures out
what to do with the women whose detentions sparked outrage in the West.
Elaheh Mohammadi and Niloufar Hamedi were taken to
Tehran's Revolutionary Court on May 29 and 30 respectively for the first
sessions of their closed-door trials. Since then, there has been no word from
Iranian officials or relatives and lawyers of the two women on when or whether
the reporters will have a second trial session at the court.
Iranian authorities jailed Hamedi and Mohammadi last
September for their coverage of the death and funeral of Mahsa Amini, a
22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman whom Tehran police arrested that month for
allegedly not following Iran's strict Islamic dress code. Amini's death in
police custody within days of her arrest triggered months of nationwide
protests against Iran's ruling Islamist clerics.
Hamedi had photographed Amini's distraught parents
embracing inside the Tehran hospital where Amini died after falling into a
coma, while Mohammadi covered and wrote about Amini's funeral in the
northwestern city of Saqqez. Both reporters were working for Iranian state
approved news outlets.

Biden to nominate Elliott Abrams, who lied over

Joe Biden intends to nominate Elliott Abrams, a former
Trump appointee on Venezuela and Iran who was famously convicted for lying to Congress
over the Iran-Contra affair, to the bipartisan US Advisory Commission on Public
Diplomacy.
The announcement came wrapped in a list of eight
Republican picks for bipartisan boards and commissions released in a White

“It’s definitely a way to reach out to
neoconservatives, and to throw them a bone,” said the historian and journalist
Eric Alterman, who has written about Abrams since the 1980s. “It’s a risky move
on Biden’s part.”
Abrams, 75, has held senior positions in three
Republican administrations, rising to prominence during a controversial run as
assistant secretary of state under Ronald Reagan.

Pakistan Cautiously Lauds Afghan Taliban's Moves to
Counter Cross-Border Terrorism
Ayaz Gul
July 08, 2023
ISLAMABAD —
Pakistan is optimistic Afghanistan's Taliban will
effectively combat cross-border terrorism to emulate the kind of cooperation
that U.S. President Joe Biden recently hinted at between the de facto Afghan
rulers and Washington, a senior diplomat said Saturday.
Asif Durrani, Pakistan's special representative on
Afghanistan Affairs, told VOA in an exclusive interview that the Taliban
government had recently initiated certain moves to address his country's
cross-border terror concerns and those of other neighbors, including China. But
it is premature to speculate on the outcome, he cautioned.
Pakistan has experienced a dramatic surge in terrorist
attacks since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul nearly two years ago. The
violence has become a daily routine, killing hundreds of Pakistanis, including
many security forces.

Acting Finance Minister Of Afghanistan Dubs Economic
Problem As 'propaganda'
By Saumya joshi
9th July, 2023
Acting foreign affairs minister of Afghanistan, Amir
Khan Muttaqi stated that there have been many different propaganda efforts in
Afghanistan, some of which allege that the country's economy is weaker than
before. As per the local news outlet, the statement by the minister comes
during the welcoming ceremony for several Islamic Emirate officials.
The Islamic Emirate officials arrived back on July 7
night after performing Hajj. While welcoming the officials, Muttaqi noted that
money has been used for projects rather than for war supplies and weapons as it
once was. Further, he added that there had previously been a "war
economy" and giving drugs to four million addicts has been regarded as an
economy.
While talking about the economic crisis that
Afghanistan has been dealing with before the Taliban topple, he said that this
economy has been "against the country and its future," but that there
has since been a "revolution" in the nation. The acting minister
continued and stated that the value of the Afghan currency in the country has
remained stable despite the sanctions and pressures the international community
had placed on the current Afghan government.

Nigerian Muslim Ummah condemns burning of Qur’an in
Stockholm, Sweden
July 9, 2023
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs,
NSCIA (Council) under the leadership of its President- General and Sultan of
Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, on behalf of the
entire Nigerian Muslim Ummah, joins other well-meaning leaders and individuals
across the world to condemn, in the strongest terms, the provocative and
blasphemous act of burning the Glorious Qur’an in front of the main Mosque in
Stockholm, Sweden.
This abominable and heinous act is a clear affirmation
of the growing high level of Islamophobia while evidencing the impunity of
Islamophobes whose hatred for Islam and Muslims knows no bound. Actions and
utterances credited to these Islamophobes smack of gross insensitivity, and
disrespect for the feelings and sensibilities of nearly two billion Muslims in
the World. This is one too many attacks on Mosques in Sweden, especially
recalling that of 2015 and another in December 2022, following which a damaged
copy of the Qur’an was left chained up and hanging outside the entrance of the
Mosque.
It is ironical that a blasphemous act of the current
magnitude would be allowed in a country often celebrated as one of the most
peaceful in the entire Europe. The Council is particularly shocked that the
supposedly intelligent and civilised Swedish Police would fail to restrain,
thereby tacitly granting permission for an individual to carry out such an
obvious offensive and provocative act of burning a Holy Book. This seemingly
without regard to the consequences or its potential to result in or snowball
into a religious crisis not only in Sweden or Europe but also across the world.
This begs the question for a determination of the insensitivity or culpability
of the Swedish Police in this matter.

Blasphemy: What Islam says — Sheikh Maraya

Former Special Adviser to the late Governor Ibrahim
Yakowa of Kaduna State on Islamic Matters and Kaduna-based Islamic cleric,
Sheikh HalliruAbdullahiMaraya, frowns at the killing of Usman Buda, who was
accused of blasphemy and immediately murdered by an irate mob in Sokoto State
recently, saying Islam does not encourage people to take laws into their hands,
adding that prosecution and punishment of those involved in the dastardly act
will help to stem the tide of jungle justice.
Maraya, in this interview with Saturday Vanguard, also
spoke on the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, passing verdict on his
administration. Excerpts:
Islam does not encourage people to take laws into
their own hands. Once an offence is committed, the offender has to be
prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction, after a proper investigation.
It is the court that will determine whether the
offender is guilty or not. Islam is a religion of civilisation, a religion of
law and order, therefore, people should not take laws into their own hands.
Such an act is at variance with the laws and injunctions of Islam and those of

Scotland wants to decriminalise drugs; the UK government
just says no
Jul 8, 2023
LONDON: The Scottish government has proposed
decriminalising possession of all drugs for personal use to tackle one of
Europe's highest overdose death rates.
The semi-autonomous Edinburgh government, led by the
pro-independence Scottish National Party, said Friday that removing criminal
penalties for drug possession would “allow for the provision of safe,
evidence-based harm reduction services”.
Scotland's death rate from drug overdoses is three
times the rate in the UK as a whole and the highest in Western Europe. Last

Ukrainians see no end in sight after 500 days of war
Jul 8, 2023
NIKOPOL: On the 500th day since Russia's invasion and
as the war grinds on, Ukrainian forces are advancing slowly without enough arms
and ammunition and with its main cities under constant threat.
Russian forces "have built solid fortifications,
they have a lot of equipment," said Antonina Morakhovska, a 73-year-old
retired teacher in the city of Nikopol in southern Ukraine.
Despite receiving billions of euros in Western
military aid, the Ukrainian army has only managed to take back around a dozen
villages and a few hundred square kilometres of territory since the start of
the offensive.
There is no comparison to last year when Ukraine's
forces re-captured 9,000 square kilometres in the Kharkiv region in September
and 5,000 square kilometres in the Kherson region in November.

Jamil Nagri
July 9, 2023
GILGIT: Twitter seems to have blocked access to the
government of Pakistan’s official account in Gilgit-Baltistan and changed the
region’s location to parts of India, it has emerged.
“I am in #GilgitBaltistan& @Twitter can’t show
tweets from @GovtofPakistan, saying that account has been withheld in India in
response to a legal demand! Hello @TwitterSupport, I’m in Pakistan why can’t I
see tweets from various accounts I follow including the one mentioned?,”
tweeted Yasir Hussain, a resident of Rahimabad area of Gilgit.
Mr Hussain told Dawn that when he tried to add a
location to his tweets, he found that the app was labelling him as being in
India-held ‘Jammu and Kashmir’ rather than GB.
Dawn reached out to Twitter for comment, but the
social media network’s official address for press queries only returns an
automated message. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority was also contacted

Govt okays policy to woo foreign investors
Mubarak Zeb Khan
July 9, 2023
ISLAMABAD: In a move to boost foreign and domestic
investments, the government has approved a new investment policy for 2023 to
attract investors by adopting best practices and providing an optimal
investment climate.
The policy was created in accordance with Prime
Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s formation of the Special Investment Facilitation
Council, an apex body that includes the army chief and provincial chief
ministers. The council’s goal is to facilitate foreign investment and remove
obstacles that hinder investment inflows.
The Pakistan Investment Policy (PIP) 2023 has been
given the go-ahead by the federal cabinet through the circulation of a summary.
It is anticipated that the new policy will attract $20-25 billion in investment
over the next few years. The policy is developed in consultation with the World
Bank, International Finance Corporation, and provincial and federal
institutions.
According to a copy of the policy seen by Dawn, it is
based on four main pillars: reducing the cost of doing business, streamlining
business processes, facilitating ease of doing business through the creation
of industrial clusters and special economic zones, and promoting greater
convergence between trade, industrial, and monetary policies.

Day after US' offer, Ukraine says it will use cluster
bombs along 'defence lines'
Jul 9, 2023
KYIV: Ukraine's defence minister OleksiiReznikov
welcomed a US decision to send cluster bombs to Kyiv, saying it would help to
liberate Ukrainian territory but promised the munitions would not be used in
Russia.
Reznikov said the munitions would help save the lives
of Ukrainian soldiers, adding Ukraine would keep a strict record of their use
and exchange information with its partners. "Our position is simple - we
need to liberate our temporarily occupied territories and save the lives of our
people," Reznikov wrote on Twitter.
"Ukraine will use these munitions only for the
de-occupation of our internationally recognized territories. These munitions
will not be used on the officially recognized territory of Russia."

US sending cluster weapons that often fail to detonate
Jul 9, 2023
When the White House announced Friday that it would
agree to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions, it came after assurances from
Pentagon officials that the weapons had been improved to minimize the danger to
civilians.
The weapons, which have been shunned by many
countries, drop small grenades that are built to destroy armored vehicles and troops
in the open, but also often fail to immediately explode. Years or even decades
later, they can kill adults and children who stumble on them.
The Pentagon said the weapons they would send to
Ukraine had a failure rate of 2.35% or less, far better than the usual rate
that is common for cluster weapons. But the Pentagon's own statements indicate
that the cluster munitions in question contain older grenades known to have a
failure rate of 14% or more. They are 155-mm artillery shells that each can fly
about 20 miles before breaking open midair and releasing 72 small grenades that
typically explode on impact along the perimeter of an oval-shaped area larger
than a football field.

Heat wave in US turns Texas prisons into 'ovens'
Jul 8, 2023
HOUSTON: On the afternoon of July 4, as Americans were
celebrating the country's independence with elaborate fireworks displays, a
prisoner named Joseph Martire passed out in his cell in Texas, amid the
excessive heat that has been swamping much of the southern United States in
recent days.
Some prisoners sabotage the toilets in their cells to
make the water overflow and wet the floor, which they then sleep on. Others wet
their clothes to try to stay cool, according to convicts, ex-convicts and
family members who spoke to AFP.
"I just passed out, the medical (staff) refused
to see me and I don't know what to do," he told his family by phone. They
called the prison administration to seek help.

President Joe Biden
Jul 8, 2023
WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden said that he
doesn't think Ukraine is ready for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
(NATO) membership and added that NATO is a process that takes some time to meet
all qualifications, from democratization to a whole range of other issues.
"I don't think it (Ukraine) is ready for
membership in NATO," the US President said in an interview with CNN's
Fareed Zakaria when asked about Ukraine's NATO membership.
Biden said he doesn't think there is unanimity in NATO
about whether or not to bring Ukraine into the NATO family in the middle of the
war as that would mean the entire NATO is at war with Russia.
