Agra Clerics Ask Muslims to Stay Away From Events
Organised by Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham
Dhirendra Shastri of
Bageshwar Dham
-----
FEBRUARY 19, 2023
In a significant development, clerics in Agra have
asked Muslims not to participate in any event organised by Dhirendra Shastri of
Bageshwar Dham.
Shastri, the head priest of Bageshwar Dham, a Hanuman
temple in Gada village of Chhattarpur district in Madhya Pradesh, has been in
controversy recently.
Mohammed Sharif Kala, the manager of the Agra mosque,
said that Dhirendra Shastri was talking about breaking the country and Muslims
had been asked to keep away from him.
“By declaring Sanathan Dharma as supreme, he claims to
be establishing a Hindu Rashtra and demeaning the Muslim community," he
explained.
The Bhartiya Muslim Vikas Parishad has also supported
the cleric and said that action should be taken against the godman for his
controversial statements against the Muslim community.

Ayatollah Khamenei Criticizes Islamic Countries For
Inaction On Palestinian Issue
Photo: Islamic Republic News Agency
------
2023/02/19
“Palestine is still a major issue. A nation, a country
is completely blockaded by not ordinary humans, but by a group of savage, evil
and wicked people and the Islamic countries keep watching the spectacle,” said
Ayatollah Khamenei on Saturday.
The Leader made the remarks as he met a group of
Iranian officials as well as representatives of Muslim countries in Tehran and
participants of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition.
The meeting was held in Tehran on Saturday morning and
coincided with Eid al-Mab'ath, the day on which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was
appointed as the prophet of Islam. Muslims worldwide celebrate the day as a
unique occasion.
During the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that
keeping silent on the plight of the Palestinians and even cooperating with the
occupying Zionist regime has weakened Islamic countries.
“Keeping silent on the Palestinian issue has harmed
the Islamic world. The very silence of the Muslim governments in the face of
such an invasion, which is an invasion on them and on the Islamic ummah, and
even supporting it, as some did recently, has weakened those countries and has
subjugated them,” he said.
Speaking on the significance of Eid of Mab’ath, the
Leader congratulated all truth-seekers and Muslims of the world on the occasion
and emphasized that the prophet’s revelation was a gift presented by God to
humans.
“Holy Prophet’s revelation is the most precious gift
presented to humanity by God. The reason is that the revelation carries with
itself some imperishable treasures for humanity which can guarantee the
happiness of humans in this world until the Resurrection,” said Ayatollah
Khamenei.

KABUL (BNA) Supreme Leader of Islamic Emirate of
Afghanistan during a with Islamic scholars, governors and other military and
civil officials of Badakhshan, Herat, Farah, Badghis and Nimroz provinces said
that foreigners had worked for the past two decades in Afghanistan to corrupt
the public’s mind.
He said that it is now the responsibility of Islamic
scholars and the officials of the Islamic Emirate to work tirelessly to enlighten
the people’s thoughts.
He asked the scholars and officials to keep away from
racism and favouritism, and responsibility of governance should be given to
people of merit.
“The enemy was defeated on the battlefield but it
still strives in the propaganda field in order to create concerns for the
people and fuel distrust between the public and Islamic government, the public
and the officials should be aware of conspiracies and evil plans of the enemy
and do not listen to their propaganda,” he added.

Islamic State Leader, Hamza al-Homsi, Snatched In Syria Raid By US Troops And
Kurdish Forces

19 February, 2023
Helicopter-borne US troops working with Syrian
Kurdish-led forces on Saturday captured a so-called Islamic State provincial
official in Syria, the US military said.
The IS official, identified as Batar, was
"involved in planning attacks on... detention centres and manufacturing
improvised explosive devices," the US military's Central Command said.
Neither civilians nor US forces were killed or injured
in the operation carried out with the help of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic
Forces (SDF), it added.
The raid came a day after four US troops were wounded
as they conducted another raid to kill a senior IS group leader in northeastern
Syria, CENTCOM said.
That raid led to the death of an IS leader identified
as Hamza al-Homsi, who CENTCOM said "oversaw the group's deadly terrorist
network in eastern Syria."
After the jihadists lost their last territory to local
Kurdish-led forces backed by the coalition in 2019, IS remnants in Syria mostly
retreated into desert hideouts in the country's east.

Uttar Pradesh: With eye on Muslim votes, BJP plans
'Sufi sammelans'
MOHD DILSHAD /
Feb 19, 2023
AGRA: Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, BJP has
started an ambitious plan to garner Muslim votes by planning 'Sufi sammelans'
(conferences) in Muslim-dominated districts of UP. BJP member and national
in-charge of Sufi conference,
Maulana Suhaib Qasmi, said, "PM Modi, in his
speeches, had said several times that Sufi ideology can help to bring peace and
communal harmony in India as it happened in the past through Hazrat Nizamuddin
and Khwaja Ajmeri. The first Sufi conference will be held in mid-March in
Lucknow."
The party has assigned the responsibility of these
conferences to its minority cell. Its minority front has also increased its
activities in Muslim-dominated areas. In these conferences, Sufi saints and
clerics associated with dargahs will narrate work done by the state and the
Centre, in the interest of minorities. 'Sufi sanwad maha abhiyan' has already
started under this programme, Qasmi said, adding, "States with significant
Muslim populations are on high priority... Sufism always stands for peace and
love, and bringing together people in the country."

HEBRON, Sunday, February 19, 2023 (WAFA) – Extremist
Israeli settlers last night attacked a mosque in the Old City of Hebron, the

windows, according to local sources.
Nidal Jabari, an Islamic Waqf official in Hebron, told

Avenu, illegally built in the heart of the city, attacked Sunia Mosque in the
Old City, smashing its windows and causing minor damages to the facilities of

Iran prosecutes woman for 'disrespecting' Islamic
headscarf
18 February, 2023
Iran's judiciary is prosecuting a woman for
"disrespecting" the Islamic headscarf after she threw hers to the
ground during a public meeting, an Iranian news agency reported on Saturday.
The requirement for women to wear the headscarf in
public, enshrined in law since shortly after the Islamic Revolution of 1979,
has triggered nationwide protests since the death in custody of 22-year-old
Kurdish Iranian Mahsa Amini in September following her arrest for an alleged
breach of the dress code.
"Legal proceedings have been launched against a
woman who disrespected her headscarf during the election for the Tehran branch
of the Iran Construction Engineering Organisation," the semi-official
Tasnim news agency said.

The son of Iran’s last shah says the Islamist regime
is splintering
By SONJA GILLERT
02/18/2023
Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last shah of Iran, has
often been seen as a solo actor determined to bring about the end of the
Islamist forces that took over his native country more than 40 years ago. But
recently, as a wave of protests inside Iran threatened the regime there,
Pahlavi has united with other top Iranian opposition figures with the same
goal. The group is working on a charter for a future democratic Iran. On the
sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Pahlavi offered a glimpse of what
it will include and called on the West to do more to help Iranians desperate
for freedom.
The Munich Security Conference didn’t invite an
official Iranian delegation this year. Instead, you and opposition activist
Masih Alinejad are here. What is your goal in Munich?
We are very happy that after 43 years, this is the
first time that the world is really engaging with the people who represent an
alternative to this regime. The paradigm has changed — and the way we see
governments taking action — including Germany. For the oppressed, this is
incredibly empowering. We want to explain that everything is tied to this
regime: whether it’s the nuclear threat, terrorism, Iranian-made drones
attacking Ukraine or more and more refugees coming to an already saturated
Europe. Not to mention that Iran could be the exporter of gas for your energy
needs, so you wouldn’t have to worry every winter what Putin is going to do
next. But that depends on us winning this fight.
Europe, and especially the U.S., are already putting
sanctions on Iran. Should they continue the strategy of maximum pressure or
what else could they do to support the opposition?

Iran freedom struggle stars at Berlin film fest
Feb 19, 2023
The Berlin film festival, long a champion of Iran's
embattled independent directors, is spotlighting its citizens' fight for basic
rights with a series of screenings, events and a red-carpet protest.
French-Iranian actor Golshifteh Farahani, who is
serving on the jury for the top prizes with president Kristen Stewart, said as
the festival kicked off Thursday that cinema was a crucial fuel for the freedom
movement.
"In a country like Iran that is a dictatorship,
art is not only an intellectual or philosophical thing, it's essential, it's
like oxygen," she said.
Farahani made her name in Iranian movies and became an
international star in productions such as Jim Jarmusch's "Paterson"

Bangladesh will get to pick new Saarc secretary
general
Anil Giri
February 19, 2023
Ending months-long confusion and speculation, seven of
eight member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation
(Saarc), barring Afghanistan, have agreed to nominate a new secretary general
of the regional grouping from Bangladesh.
With the incumbent general secretary, Esala Ruwan
Weerakoon of Sri Lanka, set to complete his term in March 2023, there was a
confusion as to who would replace him, because as per the alphabetic order it
is Afghanistan’s turn to nominate a new secretary general.
The venue of the annual summit meeting of Saarc and
the appointment of the secretary general are decided in the English
alphabetical order, so this time it was Afghanistan’s turn to nominate the
secretary general. But as the seven Saarc member states are yet to recognise
the new Taliban-led regime in Afghanistan that came to power in 2021, the issue
of appointing a new secretary general had remained unsolved. Nepal has been
chairing the regional bloc from 2014 as no new summit has been held since then
due to a dispute between India and Pakistan.

By David Sentendrey
February 18, 2023
DESOTO, Texas - A 48-year-old man accused of making
terroristic threats to a mosque while wearing a crown is now charged by DeSoto
police.
"[The crown] represented us being children of God
and being kings and queens of the most high. So, he wanted us to understand our
value in who we were as people of God," Waites explained.
According to an arrest affidavit, Brodie told members
of DeSoto House of Peace on Tuesday night that their religion goes against his
religion, and while inside, he "threatened to chop off heads, kill
families, and kill them" if they continue to practice."
Brodie’s boss saw the photos and cooperated with
police, who found him hiding in his truck in a parking lot 7 miles away from

balloon episode.
The Chinese spy balloon that flew across the United

the discovery of the balloon over the United States.
China admitted the balloon was theirs but said it was
a civilian weather research aircraft that had gone astray. The Joe Biden

The CNN’s embarrassing attempt at explaining ‘Muslim
red pill’ and ‘Akh-right bros’
By 5Pillars
18th February 2023
The article – if we should generously refer to it in those
terms – aims to demonstrate the impact that Andrew Tate’s conversion to the
Islam has had, asserting that Tate’s adoption of the Islamic faith has provided
him the opportunity to indoctrinate ‘Muslim men and boys with sexist rhetoric,
while promoting a distorted version of Islam to justify his self-proclaimed
misogyny and obsession with male dominance’.
The case is supported at the piece’s head by the
anecdotal experience of an anonymous interviewee who holds Tate’s online
rhetoric responsible for unfavourable attitudes adopted by her ex-fiancé and
siblings. Whether this is true or not is by the by, though it ought to be
considered that for anybody’s conversion to Islam to make another Muslim ‘very,
very angry’ is, for a Muslim, an odd emotional response.
The article though proceeds to lay out a conceptual
framework where these alleged sexist and misogynistic views are adopted and
promulgated by a hereto fictitious online sub cult comically dubbed the ‘akh
right bros’. This ‘strand of Muslim male influencers’ is so haphazardly
imagined that it manages to place in this concocted fraternity not only
Mohammed Hijab – who as this article will go on to demonstrate has disavowed
the Red Pill community in explicit terms – but also Myron Gaines who does not
explicitly describe himself as a Muslim and is certainly not publicly
practicing.

Music for the Coronation of King Charles III unveiled
By Jess Ilse
18th February 2023
The musical programme for King Charles III’s
Coronation service has been officially unveiled, with 12 pieces specifically
commissioned by The King and a range of performers from a variety of musical
genres represented.
Buckingham Palace announced the news today, noting
that a range “of musical styles and performers blend tradition, heritage and
ceremony with new musical voices of today, reflecting The King’s life-long love
and support of music and the arts.”
King Charles chose all musical elements himself, putting
together a mix of UK and Commonwealth performers for the Coronation. In total,

Rishi Sunak says UK stands 'ready to support all
allies' to supply Ukraine with fighter jets 'now'
By Chris Samuel
18 February 2023
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, the PM
said the UK was already "leading" on training Ukrainian fighter jet
pilots and reiterated his call for world leaders to "double down" in
support for the war-torn country.
Asked if the UK would send weapons that could target
Crimea, which was annexed by the Russians in 2014, he said NATO must help Kyiv
gain a decisive advantage on the battlefield with heavy tanks, air defence,
artillery and long-range weapons.
Mr Sunak said Ukraine needed military backing by
allies to counter the expected spring onslaught by Russian president Vladimir
Putin's troops.

SC judges take up audio leak ‘involving brother judge’
Nasir Iqbal
February 19, 2023
ISLAMABAD: A whispering campaign is making the rounds
in legal circles suggesting suo motu proceedings against a Supreme Court judge
by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) if the content of recent audio leaks is
found to be true, in which PML-Q leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi is purportedly
heard talking to a judge by phone.
The call for the SJC proceedings intensified after an
informal meeting of judges discussed the issue. The meeting was held at the
Supreme Court Building on Friday in which all the available 14 judges except
one was present. The judge, who was the subject matter of the audio clips, also
attended the meeting.
Though there is no official confirmation as to what transpired
during the meeting or whether the session remained inconclusive or more such
meetings will be held, it is believed that the subject matter of the meeting
indeed revolved around the clips.
Three audio clips were leaked on Thursday and in one
of the clips, Mr Elahi was purportedly heard talking to the judge before whose
bench he wanted a corruption case to be fixed. His voice could be heard telling
the judge that he was coming to meet him. The man on the other side tried to
convince him that it would not be appropriate, but former Punjab chief minister
Elahi insisted he was close by and would be coming without protocol and that he
would pay salaam and leave.

Compelling Discussions At Different Sessions Dismiss
‘Karachi Literature Festival Gone Stale’ Buzzword
Shazia Hasan
February 19, 2023
KARACHI: The Karachi Literature Festival (KLF),
organised by Oxford University Press (OUP), that used to have cars coming and
reversing and blocking this area and that of the road where the Beach Luxury
Hotel is located for the entire duration of the festival, morning, afternoon or
evening is not doing that same this weekend.
Why are there so many seats left vacant in the main
garden with the biggest stage? Some thought the heat was the cause of it though
it wasn’t as if the lawn was not covered. It had a crisscross marquee and
several fans. But then the halls, Jasmine, Room 007 and Aquarius, that had
great air conditioning, too, also could not be described as packed.
Some also attributed the thin audience to the Friday
terrorist attack on the Karachi Police Office. “People are worried. They are
afraid to come out today,” said one visitor.
“It’s the same kind of sessions and the same guests
making it stale. It needs fresh blood and fresh ideas,” said Aamir Mughal, a
lover of books, a writer and a regular at literary events like the KLF.

Changes to NAB law benefiting Imran, his party: Maryam
Zulqernain Tahir
February 19, 2023
LAHORE: PML-N’s chief organiser Maryam Nawaz on
Saturday again targeted the PDM government led by her uncle, saying she was
“totally against” National Accountability Bureau’s amendments that not only
defamed the anti-graft body but also benefited a number of politicians mostly
of the federal ruling coalition in corruption cases.
“I am totally against NAB amendments. Currently,
(Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman) Imran Khan and his party men are benefiting
from the NAB’s amended law,” Maryam said in a talk with journalists in Model
Town here on Saturday. She however declared that accountability mechanisms
would remain in place in any shape in the country.
A couple of days ago she distanced herself from the
Shehbaz Sharif government after it imposed taxes worth Rs170bn, saying “this
coalition government of nine parties is not our government. Our government will
be that of Nawaz Sharif.”

Gen Faiz wanted to bring TTP back to Pakistan:
minister
Nadir Guramani
February 19, 2023
Federal Human Rights Minister Riaz Pirzada has claimed
that former director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)
Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed wanted to bring the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban
Pakistan (TTP) back to the country.
Pakistan has of late seen an uptick in terrorist
activities, with an attack on the Karachi police chief’s office on Friday night
being the latest incident.
The hours-long combat between terrorists and
law-enforcement agencies, at the office located at Sharea Faisal, left four
people martyred and 18 injured while all three terrorists were reported to be
killed.
The PTI and the incumbent government have been trading
blame for the security situation in the country. The coalition set-up has said
that the PTI’s move to enter into dialogue with militants was “faulty” and it
was “never endorsed” by parliament.

We didn’t receive money to endorse APC – Miyetti Allah
February 19, 2023
FULANI Socio-cultural Association, Miyetti Allah
Kautal Hore, has debunked speculations in some quarters that its decision to
endorse and support the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the coming presidential election, was because the
association received money to do so. The Association, however, maintained its
position to queue behind the APC presidential flag-bearer was based on conviction
that Tinubu one candidate who will protect the interest of the Fulani
Pastoralists across the country. The Association’s President, Alhaji Bello
Bodejo, in a statement, further explained that once the Fulani endorse you,
they are in solidarity with you.
“The person, who is accusing the APC of giving us
money, let him also go and collect his own from the party. Nobody gave us any
money. We are not doing it because of money but for the good of the country and
our people. We want our interest fully captured in areas like creating grazing
reserves, cattle routes and tackling other challenges that the Fulani
Pastoralists are having in the country, and how we can have a good
understanding with APC in the management of Fulani affairs. We are not looking
for any kobo from anybody. I am the leader of the Association, and if there was
any monetary transaction before the endorsement, I would have said so, but
there wasn’t anything like that.
“However, anybody who is accusing us of collecting
money to endorse the ruling party should prove it. Besides, Miyetti Allah
Kautal Hore Association is not a political party. I am the leader of the Fulani
and I decided to contact some of our strong members all over the country,
including the Fulani Youths when the request for the endorsement came. After
several meetings and consultations that lasted for over three months, we
decided to follow APC. Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice Presidential
candidate, and the National Chairman of the party, Senator Dr. Abdullahi Adamu,
had came to our office to seek our support and that was why we endorsed them.

Five years after, Buhari fails to rescue Leah Sharibu
from Boko Haram
By Friday Olokor
19th February 2023
The whereabouts and condition of Leah Sharibu, one of
the Dapchi schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents in 2018 in Yobe
State, will be among the issues to be discussed at a prayer session to be
organised by the Leah Foundation and Para-Mallam Peace Foundation Advocate for
Social Justice in Abuja today.
Expectedly, her parents, Nathan, and Rebecca Sharibu,
have continued their call on the Federal Government, led by the President,
Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to fulfill its promise and secure their
daughter’s freedom.
They regretted that, with a week to the general
elections, none of the presidential candidates had made a commitment on what to
do to rescue her.
Among those expected at the prayer session to
commemorate Leah’s fifth anniversary in Boko Haram’s captivity included her
parents, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop
Daniel Okoh, who will deliver the keynote address; the Catholic Archbishop of
Abuja Diocese, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama; John Cardinal Onaiyekan and a
representative of the Presidency.

Johari Ghani says govt should stay out of 5G
networking business
19 Feb 2023
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — In an interview with Free
Malaysia Today (FMT), former Minister of Finance II Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul
Ghani said the government should be focusing on administering the country than
getting involved in the business. He said Malaysia’s 5G deployment should have
involved the telcos instead of setting up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) such
as Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB).
He gave an example that in Thailand, the Thai
government didn’t set up a 5G entity when it decided to roll out 5G and their
rollout was very fast and smooth. He told FMT, “We (Malaysia) set up a company
to deal with the telcos (but) the telcos do not have confidence in the
government entity.”
He added that’s why Malaysia’s 5G deployment was slow
with just 36-38 per cent coverage. If Malaysia gave the 5G rollout to the
private sector, they would know how to address it and the government would just
need to control the mechanism to ensure that it will benefit the government and
the people. He stressed that should be the role of the government instead of
going into the business.
Jo Ghani said the government’s role is to focus on
running the government and to collect the tax. When the government starts doing
business, that’s where there will be a lot of problems will arise. He added
that the government’s 5G plan had faced delays as telcos were hesitant to
purchase capacity in the initial stages due to pricing and transparency
concerns.
