Dear All

First time I am writing in this forum to bring your attention towards a covered incident. I am women/human rights activist In our region it is very common news like acid throwing, domestic violence, sexual harassment and target killings etc. you all may heard many news from various different corners about child rap.

The purpose of incident I am sharing is about 6 years old Sahar ,who belongs from Shia Hazara community ,father was peon in army ,they reside in FC colony Quetta, few day before when parents found her missing from home,

soon they inform police, after investigation her dead body was dumped near a  trash ,and her neighbour a clergy (mullah)Pesh imam of some mosque confessed that he did all with Sahar due to hatred against Shias , first he raped ,broke her limbs, hanged her with rope then slaughtered.

Dead body found from a trash just a yard few feet away from mullahs house.

The apathy of civil society and human rights can also be seen in this case, maybe because the victim family is very poor and cannot approach anyone or they belong from Shia/Hazara community. What’s the sin of Sahar Batool?

After rape of Kafirs the clergy will be in heaven with 72 hoors?

In this scenario the crime counts for child abuse or sectarian violence? And it’s quite tragic even it’s not in the news

The efforts should be taken by media and judiciary group to bring the perpetrators in conviction.

To Dr. Farzana Bari, and to Huma

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله  وبركاته

This very sad and very grieving news effect upon us very deeply, that crime are committed from those persons who are representative of Islamic Teaching and they are so bad and ugly mind person. I can’t believe, if they are religious and Mullah why they committed such heinous crimes i.e. 6 year old Sahar.
Believe me, I have studied Holy Quran and Sunnah 8 years and have done Fazal Arabi also and vary By the blessing of Allah somehow know about the Islamic Teaching, but a Muslim and a scholar cannot admit such heinous crime which is totally against the humanity.
They are not Mullah, but they are dangerous animal who became mad to give bad impression of Islam, Islamic teaching not allow to harm even to any living things or animal, what is the status of Human being in Islam, Allah say if an innocent person is killed the man has killed all humanity.
I am sure the person who has committed this crime is not a man and how he can be a Muslim and how he can be Mullah a religious scholar, not possible,
All Shia/Hazara, and other person who believe on Allah and Last Holy prophet all are Muslims, and all the Human being is respectable and Allah has given them respect in Holy Quran and we should not make any kind of distinguish between a Muslim and Non Muslim
ولقد كرمنا بني آدم
Once again I am feeling very sad on that bad news and I share with Dr. Sahiba and with Huma Sahiba and I appreciate your struggle for Mankind and for innocent people whatsoever they may be.
All citizen of Pakistan have same rights and duties, no any kind of difference among them.
I think such people are giving bad impression about the Holy teaching of Islam, or they are narrow minded people who have no vast study of Islam and they became Takaydar of Islam, which they will not be allowed.

Thanks and best regards.

It's tragic and heart breaking. No matter who the criminal is and belongs to any school of thought, this is inhuman. Media should surely highlight this incident and the strictest action should be taken against this criminal is disguise of a religious. Cleric.

These kind of "Jahil" mullahs should he hanged publicly to make an example out of them.

Dear Huma !
Waziristani is here but have sense and can feel pain for humanity !!!

It’s an unbelievable and heart-touching story but its simply mean we are trying to present a very dirty picture of our religion ISLAM right !
Second thing !!! A good Islamic scholar can't do like this but if any mullah etc is involved in this dirty act then this is the responsibility of this state...
Thousands of Waziristani mothers are crying just to see the innocent faces of their angles-like sons but state is sleeping.

I have a strong feeling that it's not rape for religion. The Mulla assaulted the innocent child only to satisfy the beast in him and now he is seeking refuge in sectarianism. Pakistani media and Sunni ulema have a duty to call his bluff and make sure that he is hanged.

How many cases of Heinous Crimes of rape, dacoities, Killings & other extreme atrocities are lying pending in our courts? What can save a society from epidemic /increasing crime rate. Timely Justice and nothing else. Our law makers, our Judiciary & Policing system are nothing but failures when it comes to peaceful evolution of the society. Our Judges in our Courts enjoy two months summer vacation as they are as much part of the society as any other corrupt element or the criminal is. It is our Justice System which is producing more criminal than citizens with responsibility.

This is beyond disgusting and tragic. How has this incident remained completely off the media radar that picks up every stupid news?
And wait, if that mullah has confessed to the rape and murder, is he at large after that or caught or what? He needs to be hanged and nothing less. Make an example out of one incident and there are chances this would reduce or stop altogether. No one dares touch these barbarian mullahs who're killing, raping with impunity without any punishment. Let's not forget a mullah was responsible in the Kot Radha Kishan incident also.
These mullahs need to be stopped NOW to prevent further deterioration of society.

Quratulain Sahiba, this is hundred per cent correct that this is not Islam but unfortunately some barbarians think they are the custodian of Islam not only in the country but also in other parts of the world. In their opinion they have got the authority to issue people or groups’ decree or certificates of faith. Now the animal-like people decide who is a Muslim or who is not. Disgusting!
This is really a dilemma for progressive and enlightened people of Pakistan.

This is a heart-rending and gruesome murder. But, it is also important to point out a few elements in the otherwise very moving message of Huma Fouladi which are not established so far in Police investigation. Those are as follows:

1. The cause of death as per the post-mortem report which the undersigned has studied, is asphyxia, caused by strangulation. The redness on the neck is due to the ligature (it is a ligature mark as well as the bleeding under the skin due to trauma.

2. The Hyoid bone is broken which suggests a lot of force used in strangulation and a possible hanging, but the post-mortaring doctor has not suggested that it is death by hanging.

3. Rape is not proven yet.

4. No limb of the victim is broken except the Hyoid bone.

5. So far, investigation has not found a sectarian element.

6. So far, no Pesh Imam has been arrested who has confessed this murder.

7. The case is still a mystery, but police is confident that it will be worked out soon, and both the killer and the motive will be out. Investigation team is working 24/7 on this murder which has deeply hurt us all.

Kind Regards,

Now, Ms Fouladi must answer on whose behalf she propagated a false story, and all those who were talking against religion and religious people should be ashamed of their sayings. It’s a fashion now to blame religion/religious people for such things without knowing that they are associated with the incident(s) or not.

Anyhow, the incident is strongly condemnable and the perpetrator(s) must be brought to justice as soon as possible.

heinous as it is but instead of waiting for media or someone other than me we should raise our voice in unison to demand from the government that its high time to bring a strict code of ethics for every mosque and religious entity in the country and state institutions should develop an online register of all mosques and all religious places, all clergymen, and should make it mandatory for every clergyman to seek registration with his entire history of $service. Parallel to that state should also make an online register of all such paedophiles. We can start an online signature petition to wake up our politicians and bureaucracy to the grim rather brutal realities of our times. May God help us to act.

Dear all,

Our channel's team investigated the allegation of rape of a minor girl and her killing.

We talked to police as well as the parents of the girl.

Police says there is no evidence of rape of the girl in the Medical Report. The Parents have also said that she had not been raped but just hanged.

The parents claim they have not named any person in the FIR as they have no enmity with anyone. Police say they are investigating and so far no arrest have been made.

Both the parents and police have denied that the mullah was involved or is being accused.

Thank you Shahzada Sultan Sb for correcting the facts regarding Sahar Batool's murder. I wonder why a Mulla has been named as the murderer in this gruesome act. Can you please also look into this matter and apprise the journalists and people concerned as to when, how and who named the Mulla. The facts you have given in your email are all alright but can you please explain as to why the culprit has not yet been arrested.

On the brink of our failed social system, when the Government's failure is quiet vivid,  and the electronic media also sometimes takes biased approaches, it is mandatory duty of all the sane citizens to at least raise voice against any heinous crime, vice or sin happening around, and this is also what is called 'Iman' (being a Muslim Alhamdulillah).

At the moment, I am sitting abroad, but am not far from my duties, and hearing this news shook me up, and on trying to contact from here with some relevant people I came across this explanation by the community members and locals, which I uploaded, just with a simple thought and without any hidden plans to let the notables beware of what’s happening. The incident happened (ref. to Jang Newspaper of 30th October 2014) in Quetta. In Hazara community the issue is being taken extremely sectarian and the culprits are also being discussed likewise, as I expressed.

Thanking Mr. Shahzada Sultan that he explained the situation, and tried to make case clear, which I imparted back to the concerned community members to remain calm till the reports get further vivid and clarified. I also took some relief and praying that the real culprits should be brought to prosecution and execution, so that such social evils should be countered properly and instantly.

Thanks Mr. Atiff butt for clarifying that religious extremism does not exists in Pakistan. On this, omitting history, just peeping through the current weekly updates, I have simple questions,

1. Who is responsible for burning the Christian Alive couple in Punjab on the basis of Blasphemy and on orders of MULLA???

http://tribune.com.pk/story/786093/police-arrest-44-suspects-file-cases-against-468-others-for-murder-of-christian-couple/

2. Who is responsible for forceful conversion of underage Hindu girl in Islam in Sindh and for her forceful marriage???

http://tribune.com.pk/story/784815/anjali-or-salma-alleged-forced-conversion-sparks-protest-in-sukkur/

3. Who is responsible for killings of Shia Hazara's in Quetta, and why the FC, Army, Police etc have seized the whole city in this Muharram???

Off course, it’s a lapse of administration and law & order, not only at the level of police force but of all other institutions working at the level of policy formulation or policy implementation. This extremism is religious today, because it is the most easiest form to sabotage the social order of country and needs to be curtailed by all individually and collectively.

Very traumatic and unfortunate incident of murder of a minor. I hope the killer will be arrested soon and punished.
But as journalists and rights activists on this forum, we should first make sure and investigate the basic facts and not jump to the conclusion on mere allegations.
A TV anchor and a senior police officer Mr Shahzada Sultan have put before the other side too that need to be considered.
Using religion by either side of the dividing line is also be avoided as it is very catchy and attractive, but such crimes have nothing to do with any religion whether Islam, Sunni/Shia or Christianity.
We hope to see fair investigations of the case as it is highly condemnable.
We follow the "dog" but don't touch our ear whether it is taken away by dog or not."

You are right Minhas sb... It’s imperative that mosques, other religious places and clergymen are registered online... the misuse of religion is becoming a norm. I have been so frozen with horror at reading this gruesome story that I could not bring myself to comment earlier. That anyone can treat a 6-year-old innocent this way, is beyond comprehension…..

Mr. Sultan, I sincerely hope your investigation team is actually “working 24/7 on this murder,” as you claim, because this child could have been the child of anyone of you.

Going into the nitty gritty of which bone was broken, and what caused the redness on the poor baby’s neck, should be the least of your concerns. Your main concern should be to catch the monster who committed this horrendous crime and punish him publicly.

Such inhuman incidents have become all too common in our country and all because no one has ever seen the culprits getting an exemplary punishment.

We should be very grateful to the lady who sent the original message for exposing a shocking crime that would probably have been shoved under the carpet otherwise. If she says a cleric has confessed to the crime, there must be some truth in it. Someone must have confessed. There is never smoke without a fire. Why is the police waiting for a Pesh Imam to come to them and confess?

Mr. Sultan, shouldn’t it be your duty to go after any suspect, Pesh Imam or no Pesh Imam, no matter how influential, how formidable, how capable of striking back? And to ensure that the beast gets his just dues?

The fact that you have been conscientious enough to heed this thread and take time off to send your comments, is a small ray of light in this otherwise stifling darkness.

Let us hope that you break the old police record of trashing such cases, a routine which has encouraged other fiends to carry on with their beastly  addictions.

Let us pray you are the one who gives the heirs of this poor child the satisfaction of seeing the tormenter getting a really tough punishment.

We wait in agony, with bated breaths.

Ms. Sheree,

Your sense of horror, let me assure you, is shared by all of us. I have also no doubt that the lady that started this thread has done a commendable job, too. Such horrendous acts are symptomatic of the kind of brutal society we are becoming. The context is much larger than we perceive in our anecdotal understanding of our social pathology. The reason I stepped in was to correct some of the misreported facts. We are already surrounded by so much of horror and suffering that we cannot afford as a society compounding of the same by unverified twist of a tale.  It is one of the functions of investigation to sift facts from fiction: the poor child was neither slaughtered [I mean, literally] nor subjected to limb-breaking torture. And this was precisely one of my concerns when I was getting into the nitty gritty of it. I could not keep mum over mis-painting of an already painful incident. Any human being in possession of facts shall feel a similar call of duty. I know my clarifications do not make it any less gruesome a murder, nor do they minimize the blackness of the soul that committed it, but they do paint a factual picture. But, having said that, let me once again reiterate that literally no stone is being left unturned in this case.

Dear Lala Hasssan Sahab,

Thanks for asking this again. I already replied that in detail mail two times. I think you didn't go through.

I am currently out of country and as I heard about this news, I contacted some of the relevant community members who are in Quetta and  had contacts with the victims. On my asking the first hand information which I got, I shared it at fast on my part of the duty, although the news was already viral on the social media. I just confirmed that the incident occurred. The details I shared were sourced from the community members and on their first information which they told authentically.

I am neither generalist, nor an investigator to follow the further proceedings, but through the forum of this press group, I luckily got some clarifications by Mr. Shehzada Sultan Sahab (AIG) who then clarified the real position and situation of the case, and I also communicated same to the community members to be patient until the conclusions are drawn.

I hope this makes understanding.

I believe that now that Mr. Shahzada Sultan (who seems genuine in his efforts to solve the ghastly issue) is on the case, we need to be patient, and wait for the law to take its course.

Unnecessary interference/ conjectures/ speculations will only confuse the investigators, and may even make them miss some vital points that can make their case airtight in the courts.

Let them do their work without any outside interference – and I mean all outside interference, including pressure from any vested interests.

Best of luck to you and your team, Mr. Sultan. May you be able to withstand all types of pressures, and expose the culprit/culprits, without any fears and reservations. Amen.

 Allah help all of us.

Dear Shahnaz Bukhari,

As per local journalist & his report at dawn.com parents of innocent girl are clue less about accused. Now its the duty of Policy & other law enforcing agencies to investigate the case and arrest the accused bcz so far its blind case.

Dear Ms. Huma,

Thanks for the response, honestly I don't believe on the report of Police official specially posted in Balochistan bcz they are powerless/helpless before militants. Actually without authentic information, adding Islam or Mullah was very surprising. I shared it while trusting ur information.

We teach our journalist friends not to rely/trust on one source information, confirm double sourcing/triple sourcing but this time I made the same mistake.

Regards,

Lala Hassan
