A female gender activist, Hauwa Mustapha Babura, has
called on Nigerians to come to the aid of the 11 female students of Federal
Government College, Birnin Yauri, in Kebbi State, who are still in bandits’
captivity.
While making her appeal to Nigerians, Hauwa, in a
two-minute video obtained by PRNigeria, said the FGC Birnin Yauri students have
been crying and are also tired of being held hostage by terrorists.
“In the name of God, help them,” she said, adding that
a social media group she belongs to has since opened a petition website where people
can sign, demanding the students’ immediate rescue.
Hauwa, who is also a child education specialist, said:
“Please, help this girls to come back home. Five Christian girls and six Muslim
girls are still in the forest with one Dogo Gede.
They don’t deserve to be in the forest. They are
citizens. They want to be home with their parents. Please take this to your
church.
The young mother is among 11 remaining female students
yet to be released after gunmen had abducted over 100 students and eight
teachers and killed a police man in the mixed boarding school on June 17, 2021.
A few days after the abduction, security operatives
succeeded in rescuing some of the students, while others escaped from the
gunmen in the process of taking them away. The bandits also released the
teachers and 30 of the students.

noted, calling on the Taliban to lift the restrictions on women immediately.
The statement also expressed support for "the brave women and men of Iran
in their daily fight for their rights and freedom."

Players from the team were trained by a number of Golf
Saudi coaches who gave them training sessions on the rules and nature of golf
competitions.
The team also observed the performance of the female
golf players from around the world while they were participating in the second

PCB wants to revive women’s cricket in Pakistan: Najam
Sethi
Feb 18 2023
KARACHI: The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board's
(PCB) management committee, Najam Sethi, on Saturday said that India’s
announcement of their women’s league came right after Pakistan announced the
same.
In an interaction with the media on Saturday, Sethi
said PCB wanted to revive women's cricket in the country and the Women's League
is part of that plan.
Amid the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super
League (PSL), the PCB will hold three women's exhibition matches as a build-up
to the Women's League.
"As soon as we announced the women's league,
India and the IPL announced their own women's league. This year we are going to
launch a women's league. There are some women's matches in this PSL as
well," he said.
He also heaped massive praise on Pakistan women's
wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali for "scoring a magnificent century"
against Ireland in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2023 in South Africa.
Earlier, there had been concerns voiced over the
future of the PSL 8 matches scheduled in Karachi, following the attack on the
city's police chief's headquarters on Friday evening.
However, an emergency meeting was called by the PCB
which was attended by franchise representatives. In the meeting, PCB, in
consultation with security agencies and the provincial government, took
franchises in confidence. As a result, they all agreed to continue with the
ongoing edition of PSL as per schedule in Karachi.
Sethi also told media representatives:
"Continuing PSL in Pakistan is a challenge. The Punjab government sent us
a bill of Rs800m for security, while the bill was Rs400m for Karachi. However,
after our request, the Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, waived the
bill. When I told this to the Punjab government, they also decided against
charging us for security."
"Before I came, instructions were issued to
restore departmental cricket. I hope that Karachi Customs will also restore the
cricket team. It is not appropriate that if the chairman changes, all the work
goes to waste," he concluded.

Iran Govt Slams French President For Meeting Women's
Rights Activists At Munich Conference
By Amrit Burman
19th February, 2023
The Iranian government has slammed French President
Emmanuel Macron for his recent meeting with popular US-based Iranian activist
Masih Alinejad. Taking to Twitter, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani on
Saturday said, "those who ignore 44 years of overwhelming support from the
majority of Iranians for the country [the Islamic Republic] and go to a few
anonymous clowns, neither believe in democracy nor know the revolution or the
Iranian nation."
He also called the anti-revolutionary figures who have
met Macron "undignified clowns." He claimed said that the French
president does not believe in democracy and has failed to know the Iranian
people and their revolution. "The greatness, resistance, and power of the
Iranian nation will soon force you to your knees," said Kanaani in his
Farsi tweet.
He further went on to say that "soon you will
kneel before the perseverance, strength, and greatness of the Iranian
nation." This development came on Friday on the sidelines of the Munich
Conference, where the French President had friendly talks with women’s rights
activist Alinejad, one of eight dissident figures who have formed a coalition
against the Iranian regime and support the protests in Iran.
The footage of Alinejad's meeting with Macron has been
published on Twitter. In the clip, Macron is heard saying, "I want to
congratulate you and all the members of the coalition for joining and teaming
up nicely." Macron praised a united front among eight leading Iranian
opposition figures that had been formed earlier in February. Three members of
the group, including Prince Reza Pahlavi, Masih Alinejad, and Nazanin Boniadi,
are participating in the Munich Security Conference. No Iranian government
official has been invited to this meeting.
It is important to note that these anti-Iran
government leaders have met at the event to make their voices heard across the
world and gain support to face the brutal Iranian regime that has killed
hundreds of people so far.
