For some people, being part of the showbiz fraternity is a dream, but for others, the grass isn't that greener on the other side. While many aspiring artists dream of becoming a star one day, others are leaving behind their accomplishments to achieve something much greater in life.

For any actor or singer, leaving behind their career and saying goodbye is a hard job but the thriving Pakistani industry's talented actress Anum Fayyaz documented her journey and made it clear that it is much easier than people would generally assume.

From her debut in Ahmad Habib Ki Baitiyan and Extras: The Mango People, Fayyaz established herself as a promising young artist who then bagged many iconic roles throughout her career.

Even after tying the knot and giving birth, the Band Khirkiyan star kept essaying different roles, but the 31-year-old actress has been laying low for quite some time, though she kept posting scintillating pictures clad in hijab and/or abaya.

Most recently, Fayyaz shared an Instagram post that surprised many of her fans. The Ishq Ibadat actor's post read, "This is a difficult message to send since you all have been so supportive of my media career. I have decided to leave the industry and follow more of an Islamic lifestyle and have taken steps to have my digital presence reflect this lifestyle. I kindly ask you all to keep me in your prayers as I go on this journey. Thank you so much for your never ending love and support."

Social media users and fans of the former actress have lauded her decision and sent sweet messages to her.

On the work front, Fayyaz was recently seen in Makafaat (Seasons 1, 3, and 4), Aye Mohabbat, Beqadar, and Dikhawa Season 3.

Ten female foreign ministers who attended the 59th Munich Security Conference in a statement condemned the imposition of restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan.

The statement was issued by the foreign ministers of Slovenia, Germany, Canada, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Belgium, Andorra, Albania, Mongolia and Libya.

“We strongly condemn the Taliban's push to exclude women from all public life: women are kept from strolling in parks, are not seen on TV screens anymore, are deprived of their right to attend schools and universities, and are now also kept from working in humanitarian assistance,” the statement reads.

But the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said the rights of all women are observed within an Islamic framework.

“The rights of women have not been violated in the Islamic community. Their rights have been addressed. The life of women is secured and protected. Their problems are solved by the court. Regarding their activities, there is a need for an environment within Sharia laws and work on it is underway,” he said.

The statement added that the restrictions on women will “restore the basis to deliver the help that the women, children and men of Afghanistan so urgently need.”

“With these restrictions, Afghanistan has been isolated in a world with is like a village now,” said ,Suraya Paikan, a women’s rights activist.

“In consultation with the nation, the issue should be solved soon so that it (Islamic Emirate) can find national and international legitimacy and also gains support,” said Roh Gul Afghan, a women’s rights activist.

The three-day Munich Security Conference was held in Germany where many world leaders participated.

There was no representative of the Islamic Emirate at the conference. Mabouba Saraj, an Afghan women’s rights activist and Husna Jalil, former deputy minister of interior remotely attended a debate on Afghanistan at the conference.

Bollywood Actress Rakhi Sawant Advises Young Muslims to Pray Regularly

Web Desk

 20th Feb, 2023.

Rakhi Sawant, a dancer who moved to acting in Bollywood, may have experienced a difficult marriage and one of her saddest times, but her persistent dedication to religion is admirable.

In a recent video, the Big Boss 14 participant explained how staying on the right direction keeps one in check.

Sawant just made her longtime boyfriend Adil Khan Durrani her husband. The Joru Ka Ghulam actress changed her name to Fatima Adil Khan Durrani and converted to Islam.

Sawant shared images from their Nikah ceremony, but Durrani originally refused to acknowledge or comment on the news of his marriage. Nevertheless, the couple later made their marriage public. Sawant immediately accused Durrani of having an extramarital affair after the pair took their vows. The situation between the pair right now is tense, to be precise.

In addition to her troubled marriage, Sawant’s mother’s passing made her situation even worse. The Main Hoon Na actress urged every young Muslim boy and girl to pray regularly in addition to Friday prayers in light of the current situation.

Na Tum Jaano Na Hum diva posed the question in an interview, “I used to tell him [Adil Khan Durrani] you are a Muslim, and you have brought me to Islam then why don’t you pray yourself?” .

Sawant remarked, “I accepted Islam because of Adil, but he deceived me. However, I will not renounce my religion.”

The actress then said, “I used to drag him to pray but he wouldn’t budge. Adil did not pray except on Fridays. When it came to me, I would fulfill my duty and pray regularly after learning it through YouTube videos.”

“I will advise every Muslim whether it is a man or a woman to pray,” Sawant emphasized.

She continued, “Those who are suffering should also pray Tahajjud to rid themselves of any stress and problems.”

The couple began dating in the middle of 2022 and announced their engagement in January 2023. They are currently experiencing several issues in their relationship.

French Woman, Gulfem Zengin, Drives Truck to Türkiye to Deliver Aid to Earthquake Victims

Muhammed Enes Calli

19.02.2023

KAHRAMANMARAS, Türkiye

A 24-year-old French woman drove her truck to Türkiye to deliver aid to the earthquake victims.

After hearing news about the twin earthquakes in southern Türkiye, Gulfem Zengin, a French national born to Turkish immigrants, set out on a trip from the French city of Lyon to Kahramanmaras in southern Türkiye.

"I felt very bad and very sad when I saw the news regarding the earthquakes," Zengin, told Anadolu in front of the rubbles in the city center of Kahramanmaras.

"All my friends and family members cried for Türkiye following the earthquakes."

She said that Turkish immigrants contacted her for the delivery of humanitarian aid, adding that she set out on her own, taking a difficult journey for the earthquake victims.

"It was something I had never done before. I was alone. It was impossible for me, but I thought this is about helping the victims. This is the help we can do. That's why I put my fears aside."

She took the journey from Lyon to Kapikule, the Turkish border crossing point in Edirne province on the border of Türkiye and Bulgaria.

Carrying food, clothes, medicines and pet food collected from the French nationals born to Turkish immigrants, she first reached Kapikule after a two-day journey.

She arrived in Kahramanmaras on Saturday and delivered her aid in coordination with Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

"I arrived at Kahramanmaras by driving fast with little sleep. My family is proud of me. I sent videos to my family along the way to let them know I was okay," Zengin said.

"I felt sadness and pain when I saw the collapsed buildings. I delivered clothing, mountain equipment, pet food, and some medicine," she added.

She was born in France and her family is originally from Yozgat. She does not have any relatives or friends in Kahramanmaras.

She completed her around 4,300 km (2670 miles) trip in four days.

Asked how the other truck drivers treated her on the way, Zengin said that the drivers were happy to see a woman driving a truck.

"If I made them happy, I'm happy ... Most of them were also surprised when they saw me driving a truck."

At least 40,689 people have been killed in two powerful earthquakes that rocked southern Türkiye on Feb. 6, according to the latest official figures.

The 7.7- and 7.6-magnitude earthquakes, centered in the Kahramanmaras province, affected more than 13 million people across 11 provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Elazig and Sanliurfa.

In Syria, at least 5,840 people have been killed in the deadly earthquakes.

Two women saved in miracle rescue 248 hours after Turkey quake

February 18, 2023

ANKARA — Two women were rescued from the rubble in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaras on Thursday, almost two weeks after two high magnitudes earthquakes tore through Southern Turkey and Northern Syria.

A 17-year-old girl was rescued on Thursday morning, 248 hours after a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the city.

Aleyna Olmez was extracted from a collapsed building near the epicenter of last week’s devastating quake. She has been transferred to Ankara to begin her trauma recovery.

Another woman was pulled out of the rubble after being trapped for 258 hours. Turkish media say she was the last survivor of her building. After being brought to the hospital, doctors said she was in stable condition.

On Friday, Turkish authorities updated the rising death toll, saying at least 38,044 people have been confirmed killed. This brings the combined death toll for Turkey and Syria to almost 44,000.

Meanwhile, the UN has announced some 940 million euros in humanitarian appeals for Turkey. The funding would cover three months and assist 5.2 million people who have lost everything. — Euronews

We have come out despite the system in India, not because of it, says Sania Mirza

February 19, 2023

A.K.S. Satish

Dubai: Indian tennis has produced many greats and with Sania Mirza, the last one standing, heading into the sunset after playing her last tournament in Dubai this week, the future of the sport in the country looks bleak with none from the next generation ready to take on the mantle. The six-time grand slam winner attributes it to lack of system in the country for not producing champions.

“Unfortunately, there is no system in place. Whether it’s me or Mahesh [Bhupathi] or Leander [Paes] or Vijay [Amritraj] or Ramesh [Krishnan], we all will tell you that we have come out due to our individual efforts, despite the system and not because of the system,” said the 36-year-old, who will be retiring at the end of her doubles campaign in Dubai, told ahead of the start of the 23rd edition of the Dubai Women’s Tennis Championships on Saturday.

“Build a system where the player knows what to do, where to go, who to ask. None of that is existing at this point of time. That’s why you have a champion every 20 years. it’s not easy to create champions without the system.”

First-round clash

The Dubai resident, who will partner American Madison Keys, will be eager to sign off on a high at her home tournament, where she has made a mark for herself in the past. The Indo-American duo will face Veronika Kudermetova and Luidmila Samsonava in their first round at 7pm on Monday.

Sania, who had won the 2013 Dubai women’s doubles title partnering American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, joined hands with her childhood partner Rohan Bopanna in the Australian Open mixed doubles, where the Indian duo lost to Brazil’s Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos in the final in January this year, falling just short in her final grand slam event.

Home tournament

“I have had amazing matches in Dubai and I was able to win this tournament in doubles, played well in singles. More than anything for a long time there were no tournaments in India and look forward to this as my home tournament. Not sure if me moving here had played a part, but I definitely always felt this as my home tournament.”

Sania feels that the country’s tennis federation has missed a trick by not capitalising on the popularity when she, Mahesh and Leander were world beaters, winning several grand slam titles.

“Hundred per cent, the popularity tennis gained from our feats could have been utilised better,” she concluded.

Egypt court sentences woman to death over killing mother

February 19, 2023

The Port Said Criminal Court on Saturday sentenced Nourhan Khalil, 20, a student at the Faculty of Arts at Port Said University, to capital punishment for killing her mother with the help of her lover.

The defendant attended the session amid intense security, and her father appealed to the court to mitigate the death sentence.

The incident dates to December 14, when Khalil and her underage lover, Hussein Fahmy, 14, murdered Dalia al-Houshi, 42, who works as a supervisor at Port Fouad General Hospital.

On December 22, the Public Prosecutor refer Khalil to the Criminal Court, and referred her lover Fahmy to the Juvenile Court, accusing them of premeditated murder.

He said that the two defendants had the intention and resolved to kill her to prevent her from exposing their relationship, which she learned about.

Khalil allowed Fahmy to enter the house while the victim was sleeping, so they overpowered her and killed her, then stole her mobile phone and tried to hide the traces of the crime.

The first court session began on January 14, during which the Port Said Criminal Court decided to refer Khalil’s papers to the Grand Mufti, in preparation for her execution, and set the Saturday session to read out the verdict.
