20-10-2024
LONDON (Morning Star News) – A Christian woman held without charges in Iran since Sept. 9 wept uncontrollably during the five minutes her mother was allowed to visit her on Monday (Sept. 30), a relative said.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps arrested Mojdeh Falahi, 36, a convert from Islam, when she went to the prosecutor’s office in Shiraz at the request of a Christian who had been arrested the previous day and told her he needed documents in order to be released.
During the visit on Monday, the second by her mother, Falahi wept unconsolably, and her family is worried about mistreatment by authorities and conditions of her confinement, said Sam Khosravi, Falahi’s brother-in-law.
Falahi, who works as a hairdresser, has been transferred to the Pelak-e 100 Detention Center, a prison run by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence, according to Khosravi.
Though no charges have been filed against Falahi, her family believes intelligence agents are intensely interrogating her for information about other Christians. Relatives are particularly worried because Falahi’s detention has lasted more than 10 days, unusual in investigations of most Christian women, Khosravi said.
“Mojdeh’s mother goes to the court every day to pursue the case and asks the judge to release her,” Khosravi said on Monday (Sept. 30). “She went to the court today, and after a lot of begging, the judge allowed her to see Mojdeh.”
Relatives are also confused about her detention because she is not a leader in any church and would be less likely to have information about other Christians, Khosravi said. She has not been given access to a lawyer….

‘Muslim Women Have Found Their Rightful Place In Kerala Society’
October 20, 2024
Despite largely being forgotten and undervalued, Muslim women have created their own space and established their rightful place in society, said Shamshad Hussain K.T., Professor, Tirur regional centre of SreeSankaracharya University of Sanskrit, here on Saturday.
She said a large number of Muslim women had found their voice through periodicals and other publications in which they frequently wrote. Their role in society comprised a modernist outlook even in the first decades of the 20th century as evidenced by the writings of HaleemaBeevi, Ayeesha Mayan, Thankamma Malik, Puthur Amina, P.N. Fathimakutty and others. Some of them wrote Mappila songs, others poems and even a novel, she said at a lecture on ‘Tradition and modernity: the multiple roles of Kerala Muslim women’ at the Kerala Museum here.

‘My Tears Don’t Dry’ – Layan’s Story Sheds Light on Administrative Detention of Palestinian Women
October 19, 2024
By FayhaShalash
Lulu Nasser lives on the daily hope that her 23-year-old daughter, Layan, will return to the warmth of her home in Birzeit, north of Ramallah.
On April 7, the Israeli army stormed Layan’s house and searched it. The family had no idea that the purpose of the raid would be to arrest their daughter again.
Layan’s mother told the Palestine Chronicle that she had a strange feeling about the raid, but was nonetheless shocked when the Israeli officer asked for her daughter’s identity card, only to inform her that she was under arrest.
“I told him to leave her alone, she had not done anything,” she begged the soldier. “But of course, he didn’t care about my tears that flowed out of sadness and oppression.”
Layan was arrested for the first time in July 2021. At the time, she was a student at Birzeit University and Israel’s intelligence services accused her of participating in union activities and helping students.
Three months after her arrest, the court approved Layan’s release request on the condition that she continued to appear in court for her trial sessions.
Being under administrative detention meant that the young woman not only ignored any charges against her, but also had no knowledge of how long she would remain in prison.
“I think about her every moment, especially since the conditions of detention this time are different. Female prisoners are clearly humiliated and we are prevented from visiting her or even talking to her.”
These orders are based on undisclosed files. Palestinian detainees do not know what are they accused of and Israeli authorities can renew the detention order numerous times in the absence of a trial.
This arbitrary measure against Palestinian detainees is in violation of international laws, which deem administrative detention as an emergency measure used only in very specific cases against people who cannot be easily arrested.
This is certainly not in Israel’s case since the occupation authorities hold mothers, university students, children, the elderly, and the sick under administrative detention.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Society, 27 female prisoners are being held under administrative detention, which is a record number and a stark indication of the escalation of this policy that targets all Palestinians, including women.
Amani Sarhneh, the organization’s spokeswoman, told the Palestine Chronicle that at present there are 3,398 administrative detainees in Israeli prisons.
“Female university students is the group most targeted under this type of detention, in addition to female journalists, human rights activists, or even sisters of Palestinian prisoners,” Sarhneh explained.
According to the spokeswoman, the goal behind the increase in this type of detention is an Israeli attempt to undermine any effective individual in Palestinian society.
“The danger is that Israel is using this arrest as a tool to control and impose higher supervision on Palestinian society,” Sarhneh stated, “and it is nothing more than a policy of revenge against the Palestinians at large.”

Rosie O'Donnell's daughter arrested for child neglect, 11-month-old found near meth pipe
Oct 20, 2024
Comedian, actor Rosie O'Donnell's daughter Chelsea Belle O'Donnell was arrested last month for child neglect after her 11-month-old son was found near meth pipe. Rosie O'Donnell is known for her strong criticism of Donald Trump and she was the one who posted that Barron Trump was autistic, and later deleted.
According to reports, the 27-year-old daughter was charged with four felony counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place, child neglect, possession of methamphetamine and THC, according to the court document.
Officers visited Chelsea's Wisconsin home on September 10 due to a dispute that she had with her boyfriend Jacob Nelund. In fact, Chelsea called the police who upon arrival found that her pupils were dilated and she was not being honest. According to Page Six, the officer who documented the visit said he had been called to the home for a similar incident a few weeks before and saw the same situation.
Chelsea had a meth pipe in her pocket with the residue of meth in it. Once police detained Chelsea and entered her home, they found that the living condition was pathetic. A meth bong and a meth pipe were lying near her child who could have easily grabbed those.
Police said they found a "black and silver digital scale, some used gem bags with white residue and a sharps container that had more used and unused hypodermic needles” under her child’s crib. Inside the child's room, there were numerous used hypodermic needles, another officer said. “Several of them were loaded with blood. There were old apples, garbage, random tools, and butane bottles sitting on the floor, all mixed with the clothing belonging to [the child].”
Police found evident that the house was used for drug trafficking as well as a setup to cook meth. “It appeared Jacob and Chelsea were more concerned with their drug addiction than providing [the baby] with a safe and clean environment,” an officer wrote in his report. About 18 grams of meth was found from Chelsea.
