Masoumeh Baqeri, Iranian international Taekwondo
referee
------------
An Iranian woman has been elected as the “Best
Referee” for her spectacular performance at this year’s World Taekwondo Grand
Slam Champions Series hosted by China.
Masoumeh Baqeri, the international referee of the
Islamic Republic of Iran, was awarded on Monday as the best referee by the
organizing committee of World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions Series, which were
held in the eastern Chinese city of Wuxi on April 2 and 3.
Baqeri, who had been invited to adjudicate the
competitions by the World Taekwondo Federation, was praised for having
committed the least possible mistakes in her decisions during the four days of
the preliminary and final competitions in Wuxi, and was finally selected and
introduced as the "Best Referee" of the tournament.
Baqeri and Shahram Arbabi, the president of Iran
Taekwondo Federation's referees committee, are the two international referees
from our country that have been chosen as candidates for the Taekwondo
competitions in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
A total of 60 referees from different continents will
be nominated to judge in the Olympic Games, who should initially judge the
World Championship, Grand Prix and Olympic qualifiers. After the final
evaluation of the judges' performance in the said competitions, 26 judges (13
men and 13 women) will be invited to Paris to judge taekwondo competitions.
Baqeri’s stunning performance during the Grand Slam
competitions has increased her chances of being among the elected judges for
the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
During the World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions
Series, Iranian taekwondo practitioners won four different gold, silver and
bronze medals in the international tournament, with 389 athletes from 26
countries competing at the Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center in the Chinese
city near Shanghai.
Iranian athlete Aryan Salimi won a gold medal,
followed by Mehran Barkhordari and Danial Bozorgi who won two silver medals,
and in the third rank, Reza Kalhor won a bronze medal in the two-day event.

Fatima
Al-Othman, Made Substantial Contributions At The Saudi Heritage Commission In
The Riyadh Region
April

Fatima
Al-Othman
-------------
Fatima
Al-Othman has been general manager at the Saudi Heritage Commission in the
Riyadh region since April 2022.
In
less than a year, Al-Othman made substantial contributions, including
implementing a national strategy to preserve Saudi heritage, developing the
National Heritage Register for the Riyadh region, which includes over 1,800
heritage sites, and developing a governance model for craftsmanship, which has increased
the number of registered craftsmen in the region.
Al-Othman
has become a well-known figure in the culture and heritage sector, as she
forged partnerships with Riyadh governorates to develop heritage sites in the
region in order to make them accessible and ready to welcome tourists.
Recently,
Al-Othman won the 2023 leadership figure award for Arab heritage bodies at ITB
Berlin, the world’s leading travel trade show with participants from 150
countries.
Before
joining the Heritage Commission, Al-Othman worked at Saudi Aramco, starting her
professional career as a pharmacist at John Hopkins Aramco Healthcare and
moving to different sectors within Aramco, from corporate planning to
government affairs.
Al-Othman
did not stop at administrative positions; she worked hard to gain technical
expertise in analyzing the Kingdom’s policies and became a senior analyst in
the oil and gas industry. Her work in public policy positively impacted the
Kingdom’s economy and development plans, prompting Aramco’s senior management
team to entrust Al-Othman with leading the government relations project for the
initial public offering at Aramco.
With
passion and vision, Al-Othman held several leadership roles, gaining experience
in managing mega-projects and implementing governance models and strategies.
Her
expertise laid the foundation for her next step: participating in the Kingdom’s
official delegation at the International Labor Organization to study
international labor laws.
This
was not the only international event Al-Othman participated in. From 2018 to
2020, she served as an adviser for the G20, providing research, policy and
coordination support to the G20 presidency to further align its agenda with the
2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Al-Othman
earned a master’s degree in business administration and management from Mays
Business School at Texas A&M University and a bachelor’s degree in
pharmaceutical science from King Saud University.

Dubai:
For the first time in Saudi Arabia’s history, Saudi women have been seen
participating in organising the Umrah season during the month of Ramadan, local
media reported.
According
to a video clip released by Saudi General Security on Monday, female officers
can be seen working alongside their male counterparts, receiving Umrah pilgrims
and managing the crowds of visitors and worshippers.Female officers can be seen

The
integration of women security patrols is a part of the Saudi Ministry of
Interior’s efforts to create a comprehensive security system aimed at ensuring
the comfort and safety of visitors to the Grand Mosque.
Hanan
Mohammed, a female soldier, expressed her pride in being able to contribute to
humanitarian aid and services for pilgrims. Mohammed also highlighted her role
in maintaining the security situation and addressing negative phenomena during
the Umrah season.
Sheikh
Dr Abdulrahman Al Sudais, General President of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque
and Prophet’s Mosque, announced the successful execution of the plan for the
first ten days of Ramadan at the two holy mosques. He emphasised that the
excellence in field and administrative services, despite the increase in the
number of visitors, is a result of the wise leadership’s generous and unlimited
support.
The
leadership’s efforts have made it easier for Umrah performers to complete their
rituals and engage in worship at the holy sites. Al Sudais noted that the human
and technical services at the Two Holy Mosques underwent significant
improvement, contributing to the highest visitor satisfaction rate for their
service system.
Al
Sudais expressed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King
Salman, and the Crown Prince for their unwavering support. He urged the
presidency’s employees to continue their efforts in providing the highest
levels of service to the guests of God during the holy month.

KARACHI:
The Pakistan Football Federation Normalisation Committee on Saturday announced
the squad for the first round of the qualifying tournament for the 2024 Paris
Olympics with forward England-based forward Nadia Khan being a notable
omission.
Isra
Khan, who plays in the United States, has been included in the place of Nadia,
who was injured during the team’s preparatory camp in Dubai.
Midfielder
Maria Khan will continue as captain, a role she was given since the national
team’s eight-year international isolation ended at the SAFF Women’s
Championship last year.
Pakistan
will play hosts Tajikistan, the Philippines and Hong Kong in Group ‘E’ of the
qualifiers with matches to be held at Dushanbe’s Hisor Central Stadium. Only
the group winners will advance to the second round of qualifying.
Pakistan’s
last international assignment was the Four-Nation Cup in Saudi Arabia, where
they finished second whilst missing the services of several of their
foreign-based players including Nadia as they did not have Pakistan passports.
It
was immediately unclear whether Adeel Rizki will be the team’s head coach.
Adeel holds a B-license but Asian Football Confederation regulations require a
Pro-license coach to be at the helm.
Pakistan
play the Philippines in their opening game on April 5 before facing Hong Kong
three days later. Their final match will be against Tajikistan on April 11.
