In the
upcoming Miss Universe Competition, scheduled for September 18 in Mexico, the
world will witness Iran's debut alongside Saudi Arabia's historic entry.
This should
be viewed as a paradigm shift in the patriarchal and chauvinistic attitude of
Islamic countries.

At the same
time, this is indeed heart-warming for all the connoisseurs of (feminine)
beauty. The absence of Islamic countries in the international beauty pageants
always showcased a depleted and lopsided picture of feminine beauty,
represented mainly by the plastic beauties of Europe, America and Latin
America.
Now the
whole world will get to see the gorgeous Central Asian beauties who're not
robotic. Women from Saudi Arabia are also magnificent.
Beauty,
esp. feminine beauty is a wholesome concept as Alexander Pope said in An Essay
on Criticism, " 'Tis not a lip, or eye, we beauty call / But the joint
force and full result of all." It doesn't hinge on stock replies given by
artificial females participating in these pageants.
Moreover,
all participants look alike with the same figures and features. They're so flat
( pun intended).
I'm sure,
the entry of Iranian and Arabian beauties will add lustre to the Miss World and
Miss Universe Competitions.
Having
lived in Iran, Europe and the subcontinent, I've come to the conclusion that
the Iranian females are the most beautiful creations of nature. To paraphrase
John Dryden, they're beauteous even where beauties most abound! Every Iranian
girl will remind you of Akbar Allahabadi’s famous Urdu couplet, "Ilahi
Kaisi-Kaisi Sooratein Tu Ne Banayee Hain/ Ke Har Soorat Kaleje Se Laga Lene Ke
Qaabil Hai" ( Oh god, how beautiful faces you've carved / Every beauty
is worth-embracing).
Most of the
central Asian beauties have an hourglass figure. In short, they're curvaceous.
Moreover, they're articulate and natural.
An
attractive Iranian or Arabian woman is poetry in motion. English explorer Sir Richard
Francis Burton opined, "Women of Iran and Arabia are poems and they evoke
poetry." Faiz Ahmad Faiz wrote to his wife Alys, "Girls of Iran are
like Keatsian sonnets."
So very
true! Yours truly started writing poetry in Persian and Urdu, having seen and
admired those breath-taking beauties in Iran and Central Asia. But he could
never write even a line on a beautiful woman from the western world! Females
from the western world lack vivacity and spontaneity.
I'm,
therefore, looking forward to seeing the participation of Iranian and Arabian
girls in the ensuing Miss Universe in Mexico. Aren't you? Don't say, no.
