Yatra that was launched by Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, at the Anjaneyaswamy
temple, near Nimishamba temple, in Ganjam, in Srirangapatna taluk, on Sunday.

Israeli Forces 'Kill Pregnant Women In Gaza, Run Over
Bodies With Bulldozers': Report
Pregnant women in peril from
Israel’s bombardment
------
23 December, 2023
Four pregnant women were gunned down by Israeli
bulldozers in Gaza’s Tal al-Zaatar, Al Jazeera Arabic reported on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses told Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif
that the bodies of the pregnant women were run over by the bulldozers and left
unburied among piles of other bodies in Tal al-Zaatar.
This comes after the Palestinian health ministry in
Gaza said on Saturday that at least 20,258 people had been killed in the
besieged Palestinian territory since the start of war on October 7.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA said at
least 18 Palestinians were killed and dozens others wounded in an air strike on
a house in Nuseirat in central Gaza.
Despite mounting international calls for a ceasefire,
Israel has vowed that it will keep fighting until Hamas is destroyed and
removed from power in Gaza and hostages are released.
On Friday, the UN Security Council adopted a
watered-down resolution that calls for immediately speeding up aid deliveries
to desperate civilians in Gaza, but not for a ceasefire.

Shocking: About 200 women arrested in Pakistan,
hundreds gather to protest against atrocities
Dec 23, 2023
In Islamabad, a women-led rally faced police
crackdown, arresting over 200 protestors. Led by human rights activist Mahrang
Baloch, the rally sought justice for disappeared men in Balochistan. Ongoing
nationwide protests, spanning weeks, clashed with police in Islamabad's Red
Zone. The zone hosts crucial government offices and became a focal point for
the confrontation. Mahrang Baloch reported her arrest and the police attack on
social media. Circulating videos depict forceful police actions against
protestors. Triggered by a Baloch man's death in police custody, the protests
demand accountability for enforced disappearances. Demonstrators seek answers
on undocumented arrests in Balochistan. Balochistan's long-standing nationalist
movement fuels decades of protests. Recent protests follow the arrest of
BalachMola Bakhsh, held for nearly a month, accused of explosives possession;
his bail plea was set for November 24.

Meghalaya Catholic priests can 'bless' same sex-couples
sans marriage rite
Dec 24, 2023
GUWAHATI: The Archdiocese of Shillong on Friday
allowed Catholic priests in Meghalaya to bless same-sex couples, but clarified
that the blessing will be in "informal words" and won't signify
approval of the union. This development comes days after Pope Francis approved
this historic change in Vatican policy.
The Shillong Archdiocese is the first diocese of the
Northeast. In a letter to the priests, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh wrote that the
blessings to same-sex couples will be without any type of ritual of the Church
that resembles a marriage rite. It will be a "spontaneous prayer of a
priest with informal words," the Archbishop wrote, underlining that
"this (the blessing) is not to be mistaken as the official liturgical and
ritual blessings of the Church during marriage".
The Archbishop referred to 'FiduciaSupplicans', Pope
Francis's declaration issued on December 18 which "stresses on the
pastoral meaning of blessings".
"Pope Francis has urged us not to 'lose pastoral
charity, which should permeate all our decisions and attitudes' and to avoid
being 'judges who only deny, reject, and exclude'. Let us then respond to the
Holy Father's proposal by developing a broader understanding of
blessings," the 'FiduciaSupplicans' declaration states.

Muslim women in London create a 'safe space' to rally
for Palestine
Lemma Shehadi
Dec 24, 2023
Muslim women in London have come together to create a
“safe space” at the Palestine protests.
AbiramiRaveendran, an activist from west London, is
part of a group who formed a bloc of mainly Muslim women who march together
during the rallies.
“All these women are very passionate about the cause,
but they don’t know what to do with it, and they don’t really have an outlet,”
she told The National.
Last week, the group was formally recognised as the
local branch for Hillingdon by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, a nationwide
protest movement.
One family arrived just days ago, she added. They are
being supported by members of the group, who are in regular contact with them
and sending them food.
The group is now calling for the UK to accommodate
Palestinian refugees or Palestinians seeking medical treatment, similar to the
Ukraine resettlement scheme, which was launched within a month of Russia’s
invasion in 2022.
She criticised the UK's recent calls for a
“sustainable ceasefire”, which would be implemented once Hamas no longer
controls the Gaza Strip and all hostages are released.
“We're getting different religious communities to come
together. [Muslim] and Jewish communities, Sikh communities, Christian
communities, Hindu communities,” she said.
