Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi is an Urdu-speaking Shia Islamic speaker from Lucknow whose lectures and digital content focus on religious awareness, ethical values, remembrance of Ahlulbayt (A.S.), and contemporary social issues affecting Muslim youth.

Born on December 14, 1997, and originally belonging to Zaidpur in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, he is among a younger generation of religious speakers using social media platforms to communicate Islamic teachings and community-related discussions to online audiences.
In recent years, debates around online radicalisation, sectarian rhetoric, and extremist propaganda have increasingly become topics of concern within Muslim societies. Speaking on these issues, Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi stressed the importance of authentic religious understanding, peaceful coexistence, and the moral teachings of Ahlulbayt (A.S.).
Interview
Q: Why do you think some Muslim youth become vulnerable to radicalisation and extremist propaganda?
Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi:
“One reason is that many young people receive religious information from emotional online content without proper understanding or guidance. Certain groups misuse political issues and religious sentiments to influence youth emotionally.”
“The teachings of Ahlulbayt (A.S.) emphasize wisdom, patience, justice, and humanity. Any ideology that promotes hatred, violence, or takfir against innocent people contradicts the ethical spirit of Islam.”
Q: Some scholars compare modern extremist thinking with the historical Khawarij mindset. How should Muslims respond to such ideologies?
Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi:
“The Khawarij in Islamic history became known for extremism, intolerance, and misuse of religion. Even today, whenever religion is used to justify hatred, division, or violence, Muslims should respond through knowledge, awareness, and responsible scholarship.”
“Emotional reactions alone cannot solve these problems. Families, educators, and religious scholars all have a responsibility to guide young people toward balanced and informed understanding of religion.”
Q: In your opinion, what role can the teachings of Ahlulbayt (A.S.) play in preventing extremism?
Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi:
“The lives of Imam Ali (A.S.) and Imam Hussain (A.S.) teach justice, dignity, patience, and responsibility toward humanity. The message of Karbala is connected with standing against oppression while maintaining moral principles.”
“If young people study the teachings of Ahlulbayt (A.S.) sincerely, they will understand that Islam is connected with ethics, compassion, and social responsibility — not hatred or violence.”
Q: How can Muslims counter online propaganda spread by extremist organisations?
Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi:
“Muslims should avoid depending entirely on viral videos or anonymous online pages for religious understanding. Authentic scholarship and proper education are important.”
“At the same time, constructive Islamic voices should become more active online by promoting awareness, dialogue, and peaceful teachings. Extremist groups often try to use Muslims as tools in political conflicts, so young people must think carefully before being influenced by emotional propaganda.”
Q: What responsibility do religious speakers and online Islamic content creators have today?
Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi:
“Anyone speaking publicly about religion should act responsibly. Religious communication should encourage morality, awareness, respect for humanity, and social harmony rather than anger or division.”
“Digital media is a powerful tool, and it should be used carefully because both beneficial and harmful ideas spread quickly online.”
Q: What message would you like to give to young Muslims?
Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi:
“Young people should focus on education, character, discipline, and positive contribution to society. Islam values knowledge, justice, and good conduct.”
“Social media should become a means of learning, awareness, and self-improvement rather than hatred and conflict.”
