Finally, in the Grave

Despite all our efforts and actions while in this world, one day we will find ourselves in the grave. This will happen with every one of us. We will not take a single of all the material things that we have accumulated when we were alive after we die.

Bill Gates, said to be the richest person in the world in terms of material wealth, makes this very telling remark:

I can understand wanting to have a million dollars...but once you get beyond that, I have to tell you, it’s the same hamburger.

No matter how big and lavish a palace you may live in, you can actually occupy just one room at a time. An emperor might rule over a huge empire, but he can sit only on one throne at a time. No matter how much material wealth you may have, you will take nothing at all of it along with you when you die and have to face the eternal Hereafter. Therefore, the wise thing to do is to make the Hereafter your destination, and not the material things of this world.

If you see it from the worldly point of view, your final destination is your grave. But if you are aware of the Hereafter, you will realise that if you lead your life in this world in the proper manner, there is a limitless world that you can enter after your death.

Wise is he or she who takes from the things of the world only that which is necessary and makes the Hereafter the focus of his or her efforts and hopes.

This is true realism and wisdom.
