Destroy Lashkar Camps: Why Indian Muslims are an existential threat to Pakistan?

We have no way of knowing precisely what message US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is carrying from India to Pakistan. Like millions of Indians, I hope, the government has made it clear that now that we have incontrovertible evidence against Lashkar-e-Tayyaba’s involvement in the recent terrorist attack on India, we will ourselves take steps to destroy the terrorist camps in POK as well as Islamist Markaz Ad-Dawa-wal-Irshad brainwashing camps at Muridke and elsewhere unless Pakistan takes concrete action against these criminals and destroys their camps for good.

There are suggestions that the response be internationalised. But let not such suggestions merely confuse, obfuscate and delay the response. If there is one phrase the world has heard from Indians of all hues repeated again and again and again, throughout last week, it is: Enough is Enough!

We, the Muslims of India, have particular reason to demand that these dens of evil be closed down and destroyed. There is not the slightest reason to doubt the known fact now that these Pakistani terrorist organisations are particularly after the destruction of the Muslim community in India. [See the article below.] The very idea of Indian Muslims living peacefully and marching towards prosperity strikes at the very root of Pakistan’s existential philosophy. The very existence of a prosperous Muslim community in India destroys the Two-Nation Theory on which the state of Pakistan is based. The very fact that Muslims in India not only live peacefully among themselves but also in harmony with a variety of other religious, linguistic, ethnic communities while Muslims in Pakistan are deeply divided among themselves and constantly at each others’ throats is a profoundly destabilising factor for the very existence of Pakistan.

That Pakistan’s Muslim Sindhis, Baluchis, Pathans, Saraikis, and indeed Mohajirs would love to join the Indian mainstream, given half a chance, cannot possibly be lost on the Pakistani establishment that has spawned these terrorist organisations to further its dubious strategic imperatives. We the Muslims of India, by our very existence, more so on account of our peaceful and prosperous existence, are an existential threat to Pakistan. And not just to its terrorists, which are in any case a part of the establishment. We can’t help it. There is nothing we can do about it. That is why it is in our particular interest, in the interest of Muslims of India, that these terrorist camps are destroyed and the criminals who have wreaked so much havoc on our land are brought to justice.

Lies of the Lashkar

By Yoginder Sikand

Not possessing a television set myself, it was only just now that was I able to listen to the recording, hosted on the Internet, of a conversation which took place some days ago between a terrorist holed up at Nariman House in Mumbai and calling himself 'Imran Babar' and reporters of the India TV channel. (<

It is plainly evident from the conversation that the terrorist was a Pakistani, most likely a Punjabi. This obvious from his accent and the sort of Urdu he speaks. One can easily make out that he had been carefully tutored by his mentors who masterminded the deadly terror assault on Mumbai to intersperse his hate-driven harangue with some Hindi words (shanti, parivar etc.) and to use Urdu words in the typical Hindi way (jabardasti, instead of zabardasti, etc.) so as to give the misleading impression that he and the other terrorists with him were Indian Muslims, not Pakistanis. The terrorists claimed to belong to the 'Deccan', in India, but it is obvious that this was not at all the case. There can be no doubt that these Pakistani terrorists were trained to lie that they were Indian Muslims who were allegedly resorting to terror in revenge for the atrocities committed on Muslims in India.

Why the Pakistan-based terror outfit behind the attacks would do this needs no explanation. The aim of the attacks was probably to destabilise India, fuel Hindu-Muslim violence, instigate Muslims to take to terror in response to attacks by Hindus and then drown India in flames. This, indeed, is precisely what several Pakistan-based self-styled Islamist groups have been consistently plotting to do for decades, although, mercifully, by and large, the Indian Muslims have refused to fall into their trap. It is to the credit of the Indian Muslims that, barring some stray exceptions, they have consistently opposed all forms of terror, including that committed in the name of Islam, despite the growing menace of Hindutva-driven fascist terror across India, sometimes abetted by the state, of which they are the principal and worst-hit victims.

The Lashkar-e-Tayyaba has never made any bones about its dastardly plans of destabilising and destroying India. It has gone to the ridiculous extent of claiming that it will not rest till the 'Islamic' flag is hoisted atop the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi and till India is absorbed into what it calls in its lunacy 'Greater Pakistan'. In order to gain theological legitimacy for its deadly project it even claims that the Prophet Muhammad is said to have declared that Muslims who participate in a war with India would be saved from the fires of hell. There can be no doubt that this sort of horrendous misuse and deliberate distortion of Islam by the Lashkar has played a major role in attracting vast numbers of would-be terrorists in Pakistan to its fold who are fed with the poisonous propaganda that by participating in what it calls a holy war against India they would win a ticket to heaven.

The Pakistani state, it must be noted, has taken no action whatsoever against this heinous propaganda, and elements of the ISI are said to be in cahoots with the Lashkar and other such hate-driven self-styled Islamist groups in the country. In the wake of the Mumbai attacks, and when asked what action Pakistan had taken against the Lashkar, the Pakistani President hurriedly shrugged off the question by claiming that the Lashkar had been 'banned'. If that is indeed the case—which it is obviously not—then how does Mr. Zardari explain the fact that, as the Lashkar's official Urdu website itself announces, on the 29th of November the Lashkar's supremo Hafiz Muhammad Saeed addressed what it termed a 'mammoth' convention at 'New Saeedabad' (a locality named after him?), organized by the Sindh unit of the Markaz Dawat ul-Irshad (the 'religious' and political wing of the Lashkar). It was held, of all places, in the premises of the local Government Degree College. The Lashkar's website is replete with news about the whirlwind tours of Saeed and his cronies across the country, delivering rabble-rousing speeches, thundering against India and non-Muslims in general. And the outfit, Mr. Zardari wants us to believe, is 'banned'.

Having been writing on Indian Muslim issues for years now, I can say with some confidence that the general Indian Muslim is completely fed up and fiercely opposed to the gross misuse of Islam by the Pakistani state and Pakistan-based self-styled Islamist outfits. Deep down inside, most of them lament the very creation of Pakistan, based on the discredited 'two nation' theory, for it has left them permanently helpless in the face of Hindutva aggression. They know full well that, despite its bombastic claims, Pakistan is far being from the 'Islamic state' it claims to be—with its problems of poverty, illiteracy, mounting inequalities, endemic violence, and lawlessness, its corrupt American puppet politicians who have reduced Islam to a plaything to be employed for their own purposes, and so on. They face the brunt of mounting Islamophobia stirred up by Hindutva fascist forces that play upon Pakistan's dubious Kashmir policy and the heinous crimes of Pakistan-based self-styled Islamist radicals to whip up violently anti-Muslim sentiments in India. The general Indian Muslim's undisguised disgust of the terror in the name of Islam that groups like the Lashkar are seeking to spearhead is amply evident in the news that is pouring in of Muslims across the country roundly denouncing the Mumbai attacks and even insisting that the dreaded terrorists not be allowed to be buried on Indian soil.

India's Muslims need to be seen as a potential asset, rather than a liability, in the struggle against terrorism. Scores of Indian ulema or Islamic clerics are now openly castigating all forms of terror, organizing mass rallies and even issuing fatwas to get the message across. The Indian state and civil society urgently needs to realize that hounding the Indian Muslims, instead of seeking to listen to their voices and concerns and genuinely dialoguing with them, can only play into the hands of outfits of groups like the Lashkar. The fact that Hindutva terror and Islamist terror only feed on each other must also be urgently acknowledged. Our very future as a country crucially depends on all communities, particularly Hindus and Muslims, presenting a joint front to work together for peace and security. That would be a fitting reply to both Hindutva and radical Islamist forces, whose very existence is based on the frighteningly Manichaean notion of perpetual antagonism between Hindus and Muslims.

LeT emerging as Qaida's successor

6 Jul 2005, 0156 hrs IST,

Indrani Bagchi & M Saleem Pandit, TNN

NEW DELHI/SRINAGAR: Tuesday's Ayodhya attack is a deadly reminder of Lashkar-e-Taiba's core ideology — it goes well beyond opposing

India's sovereignty in J&K. According to the South Asia Terrorism Portal, the Lashkar's agenda, as outlined in a pamphlet titled, ‘Why Are We Waging Jihad', includes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India.

The terrorist group started out as a wholly owned subsidiary of ISI, Pakistan's intelligence outfit. But over the years it has grown beyond its creator and is now regarded by many terrorism analysts as the successor to Al-Qaida — not as a monolithic organisation, but as a loosely constructed federation.

It propagates a narrow Islamist fundamentalism that is uncomfortably close to Saudi Wahhabism. It wants to unite all Muslim majority regions in countries that surround Pakistan.

Hence its presence in Afghanistan, J&K, Chechnya and other parts of Central Asia.

The outfit has a history of executing precision attacks outside J&K, the most prominent being its suspected role in the December 13, 2001 attack on Parliament and the 2002 strike on the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar.

Security sources say LeT had planned a similar in Ayodhya in 2002, but it fell apart after the militants entrusted with the task were killed in an encounter in Tughlaqabad.

BSF's senior intelligence officer .K Srinivasan, believes LeT operatives are also active in UP and Gujurat besides being spread across Jammu and Kashmir. Srinivasan, who has

been involved in anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir since 2000, told TOI that Lashskar's involvement in the Ayodhya attack cannot be ruled out given its track record.

Shahzad Ahmad alias Abu Shamas ofPakistan is the supreme operational commander of the outfit in Jammu and Kashmir. Shahzad resides in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir but has a representative, Dr Zaan, stationed in Bandipora, North Kashmir, acting as operational commander these days, Srinivasan said.

The UN took the ultimate step in May of banning the LeT and all its sister concerns for its links with Al-Qaida, through UN Resolution 1267 under which all states are obliged to freeze its assets, prevent its entry into or transit through their territories.

The fact that this is yet to find ground in LeT's home base, Pakistan, has not escaped notice.

Formed in 1990 in the Kunar province of Afghanistan, the Lashkar-e-Toiba is the military wing of the Markaz-ud-Dawa-wal-Irshad, an Islamic fundamentalist organisation of the Ahle-Hadith sect in Pakistan. Its first presence in J&K was recorded in 1993 when 12 Pakistani and Afghan mercenaries infiltrated across the LoC.

However, after being banned by the US and at different times, Pakistan, the LeT has been reorganised into two supposedly exclusive bodies — one devoted to preaching of Islam under Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and the other to carry on its violent campaign under the leadership of Kashmiri scholar Maulana Abdul Wahid Kashmiri.

Compared to other ultra outfits in J&K, LeT has attracted attention for two reasons: its well planned and executed attacks on security forces and for the dramatic killings of non-Muslim civilians. In fact, it is generally noted that LeT cadres prefer death to arrest, pointing to a high degree of motivation.

Lashkar-e-Tayyaba ('Army of the Pure')

Formed in 1990 in the Kunar province of Afghanistan, the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (also known as Jama’at-ud-Da’awa) is based in Muridke near Lahore in Pakistan and is headed by Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.

Its first presence in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) was recorded in 1993 when 12 Pakistani and Afghan mercenaries infiltrated across the Line of Control (LoC) in tandem with the Islami Inquilabi Mahaz, a terrorist outfit then active in the Poonch district of J&K.

1.             Proscription

The LeT is outlawed in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

It was included in the Terrorist Exclusion List by the US Government on December 5, 2001. The US administration designated the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba as a FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organization) on December 26, 2001. It is also a banned organization in Britain since March 30, 2001.

The group was proscribed by the United Nations in May 2005.

The military regime of Gen. Pervez Musharraf banned the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba in Pakistan on January 12, 2002.

2.             Objectives/Ideology

The LeT’s professed ideology goes beyond merely challenging India's sovereignty over the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The Lashkar's ‘agenda’, as outlined in a pamphlet titled Why are we waging jihad includes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India. Further, the outfit seeks to bring about a union of all Muslim majority regions in countries that surround Pakistan. Towards that end, it is active in J&K, Chechnya and other parts of Central Asia.

Hafiz Saeed, a scholar of Islam, has said that the purpose of Jihad is to carry out a sustained struggle for the dominance of Islam in the entire world and to eliminate the evil forces and the ignorant. He considers India, Israel and US to be his prime enemies and has threatened to launch Fidayeen (suicide squad) attacks on American interests too.

The Lashkar-e-Tayyaba does not believe in democracy and nationalism. According to its ideology, it is the duty of every 'Momin' to protect and defend the interests of Muslims all over the world where Muslims are under the rule of non-Muslim in the democratic system. It has, thus chosen the path of Jihad as the suited means to achieve its goal. Cadres are drawn from the Wahabi school of thought.

Jihad, Hafiz Saeed said during the All Pakistan Ulema Convention held on July 17, 2003, at Lahore, is the only way Pakistan can move towards dignity and prosperity.

The LeT has consistently advocated the use of force and vowed that it would plant the 'flag of Islam' in Washington, Tel Aviv and New Delhi.

3.             Leadership and Command Structure

The outfit’s headquarters (200 acres) is located at Muridke, 30 kms from Lahore, which was built with contributions and donations from the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia being the biggest benefactor.

The headquarters houses a Madrassa (seminary), a hospital, a market, a large residential area for ‘scholars’ and faculty members, a fish farm and agricultural tracts. The LeT also reportedly operates 16 Islamic institutions, 135 secondary schools, an ambulance service, mobile clinics, blood banks and several seminaries across Pakistan.

LeT publishes its views and opinion through its Website (, an Urdu monthly journal, Al-Dawa, which has a circulation of 80,000, and an Urdu weekly, Gazwa. It also publishes Voice of Islam, an English monthly, and Al-Rabat - monthly in Arabic, Mujala-e-Tulba - Urdu monthly for students, Jehad Times - Urdu Weekly.

Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is the Amir (chief) of Lashkar-e-Toiba. While Yahiya Mujahid serves as the spokesman of the outfit, Maulana Abdul Wahid is one of the senior leaders. Abdullah Muntazer is the ‘Spokesman for International Media’ and editor of the outfit’s Website. Saeed’s son Talha reportedly looks after the LeT activity at its base camp in Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Saeed’s son-in-law, Khalid Waleed, is reportedly part of the LeT office in Lahore.

According to a November 2005 report of Rediff, the LeT leadership consisted of: Hafiz Mohammed Saeed (Supreme Commander); Zia-Ur-Rehman Lakhvi alias Chachaji (Supreme Commander, Kashmir); A. B. Rahman-Ur-Dakhil (Deputy Supreme Commander); Abdullah Shehzad alias Abu Anas alias Shamas (Chief Operations Commander, Valley); Abdul Hassan alias MY (Central Division Commander); Kari Saif-Ul-Rahman (North Division Commander); Kari Saif-Ul-Islam (Deputy Commander); Masood alias Mahmood (Area Commander, Sopore); Hyder-e-Krar alias CI (Deputy Commander, Bandipora); Usman Bhai alias Saif-Ul-Islam (Deputy Commander, Lolab); Abdul Nawaz (Deputy Commander, Sogam); Abu Rafi (Deputy Divisional Commander, Baramulla); Abdul Nawaz (Deputy Commander, Handwara); Abu Museb alias Saifulla (Deputy Commander, Budgam);

Its cadres are organised at district levels with ‘district commanders’ in charge. Within Pakistan, the outfit has a network of training camps and branch offices, which undertake recruitment and collection of finances.

It comprises cadres mostly from Pakistan and Afghanistan and a sprinkling of militants from Sudan, Bahrain, Central Asia, Turkey and Libya. Funded, armed and trained by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISl, the external intelligence agency of Pakistan), it has presently a little over 750 cadres (this number keeps changing) in Jammu and Kashmir (a vast majority of the foreign mercenaries operating in the Valley).

The policy making apex body consists of Amir (chief), Naib Amir (deputy chief) Finance chief etc. At the field level, it has Chief Commander, Divisional Commander, District Commander, Battalion Commander and down below on army pattern.

4.             Area of Operation

While the primary area of operations of the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba is Jammu and Kashmir, the outfit has carried out attacks in other parts of India, including in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Kolkata, Gujarat, etc. It reportedly has cells in many cities/towns outside Jammu and Kashmir.

The LeT has been able to network with several Islamist extremist organizations across India, especially in J&K, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. LeT is actively engaged in subversive activities in the States of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Hyderabad, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh at the instance of ISI to expand the frontier of violence outside J&K by subverting fringe elements. Of all the Pakistan-based terrorist groups, the LeT is the only group with support bases across India.

The Lashkar-e-Tayyaba has training camps spread across Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). Its camps, recruitment centres/offices are spread across the length and breadth of Pakistan and PoK in Muzaffarabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan, Quetta, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gilgit (in the Northern Area of PoK), etc. LeT reportedly has 2,200 offices across Pakistan.

The LeT allegedly carried out the terrorist attack at the Indian Institute of Science campus in Bangalore on December 28, 2005, in which one person was killed; Earlier, on October 29, 2005, it engineered the serial explosions in New Delhi killing at least 62 persons; It is also suspected to have carried out the Varanasi attack on March 7, 2006 in which 21 civilians died and 62 others were injured; Three suspected LeT terrorists were shot dead during an abortive attempt to storm the headquarters of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing Hindu organization, at Nagpur in Maharashtra on June 1, 2006; The LeT, according to Mumbai Police, carried out the 7/11 serial bombings in Mumbai in which at least 200 people were killed.

Arrests made during March-April 2004 near Baghdad brought to light links between the LeT and Islamist groups fighting the United States military in Iraq. In March - and possibly even earlier - United States forces detained Pakistani national Dilshad Ahmad and four others in Baghdad. Ahmad, a long-time Lashkar operative from the Bahawalpur area of the province of Punjab in Pakistan, had played a key role in the Lashkar's trans-Line of Control (LoC) operations, serving between 1997 and 2001 as the organisation's commander for the forward camps from where infiltrating groups of terrorists are launched into Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistani military support. Ahmad is believed to have made at least six secret visits to Lashkar groups operating in J&K during this period.

5.             Training and Operational Strategies

The outfit provides training to both militant cadres and the Ulema (religious scholars). Its militant cadres are given two months training in the handling of AK series rifles, LMGs, pistols, rocket launchers and hand grenades. It also provides a 21-day training programme called Daura-e-Aam and a three months specialized training programme called Daura-e-Khas.

The Ulema are provided with a 42-days course. At the time of induction, the young recruits are made to go through a fresher course called Bait-ur-Rizwan.

Lashkar-e-Tayyaba is credited for having initiated the strategy of Fidayeen (suicide squad) attacks in J&K. It has formed two sub-groups called 'Jaan-e-Fidai' and 'Ibn-e-Tayamiah'. While the first group consists of highly motivated terrorists, the second comprises terrorists suffering from incurable diseases.

Compared to other terrorist outfits in J&K, the LeT has commanded significant attention primarily due to two reasons. First, for its well planned and executed attacks on security force (SF) targets and secondly, for the massacres of non-Muslim civilians. After the Kargil war of May-July 1999, (when Pakistani troops and mercenaries, including those of the Lashkar, were forced to withdraw from peaks on the Indian side of the Line of Control - LoC), the outfit launched its Fidayeen strategy whereby small groups (2-5 members) of Lashkar cadres would storm a security force camp or base. In another frequently used strategy, groups of Lashkar cadres, dressed in SF fatigues, would arrive at remote hill villages, round up Hindu or Sikh civilians, and massacre them. These two strategies have been designed to achieve maximum publicity and extract public allegiance, mainly out of fear. On December 8, 2001, two LeT suicide squad cadres managed to penetrate inside a SF convoy and opened fire killing one soldier. They were able to generate adequate confusion to escape from the convoy after the attack but were later killed in an encounter with another SF unit.

6.             Links

It is closely linked to the Inter-Services Intelligence, the Taliban and al Qaeda.

India’s National Security Adviser M. K. Narayanan said on August 11, 2006, that the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayyaba is part of the "al Qaeda compact" and is "as big as and omnipotent" as the international terror network. "The Lashkar today has emerged as a very major force. It has connectivity with west Asia, Europe....Actually there was an LeT module broken in Virginia and some people were picked up. It is as big as and omnipotent as al Qaeda in every sense of the term," he told a private news channel. Asked how significant the al Qaeda connection was in India, Narayanan said LeT was the "most visible manifestation" of the al Qaeda in India.

LeT has an extensive network that run across Pakistan and India with branches in Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Bangladesh and South East Asia.

The outfit collects donations from the Pakistani community in the Persian Gulf and United Kingdom, Islamic Non-Governmental Organisations, and Pakistani and Kashmiri businessmen. It receives considerable financial, material and other forms of assistance from the Pakistan government, routed primarily through the ISI. The ISI is the main source of LeT's funding. Saudi Arabia also provides funds.

The LeT maintains ties to various religious/military groups around the world, ranging from the Philippines to the Middle East and Chechnya primarily through the al Qaeda fraternal network.

The LeT has also been part of the Bosnian campaign against the Serbs.

It has allegedly set up sleeper cells in the U.S. and Australia, trained terrorists from other countries and has entered new theatres of Jihad like Iraq.

The group has links with many international Islamist terrorist groups like the Ikhwan-ul-Musalmeen of Egypt and other Arab groups.

LeT has a unit in Germany and also receives help from the Al Muhajiraun, supporter of Sharia Group, (Abu Hamza Masari- of Mosque Finsbury Park, North London) and its annual convention is regularly attended by fraternal bodies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, Kosovo, Bangladesh, Myanmar, USA, Palestine, Bosnia, Philippines, Jordan, Chechnya, etc.

It also has links with the International Sikh Youth Federation (Lakhbir Singh Rode).

7.             Links

Funds also come from some sources in Saudi Arabia.

Finances are also generated through Hawala transaction and through infiltrating groups and other conduits.

According to Mohammad Omar Rana, the expenditure on its militia alone is around 35 crores of rupees per annum.8.  Weaponry AK series rifles, LMG/HMG's, Hand Grenades, Rockets, Pistols, Mortars, Anti-tank mines, Anti personnel mines, Anti Aircraft Gun, Remote Control Device, explosive devices and sophisticated communication system.

  1. This is in response to Sultan Shahin's article, entitled, "Destroy Lashkar Camps"

We, the Muslims of India, fully support the view of Sultan Shahin that it is time to internationise the issue of terrorism from mere a law and order problem in India and destroy all the apparatus of terror operating in and around the borders bordering Pak-Afghanistan. There is no justification whatsoever for any such insane organisation to launch a terror attack on the pretext of supporting the Indian Muslims or their cause, as Muslims of India never sought any such assistance from outside world in the past 60 years and never intended to do so in future. Whatever happens here to the Muslims, it is an internal matter as it has been and this community is resilient enough to solve its problems through democratic means. We, the Muslims of India, have been living peacefully, barring a few incidences of riots, in perfect harmony with other religious groups in a perfect demo of unity in diversity for which India is famous.

Ever since this community was left behind by Jinnah and Company to fend for themselves in 1947, Pakistan for that matter any other Muslim or Islamic country has ever cared for the problems of Muslims of India. Suddenly, what prompted these radical and extremists groups to espouse the cause of Muslims of India and launch any terror attack in the country on their behalf?  Muslims are united as ever before and they do not harbour any ill feelings against the govt or the people of this great nation. Here, we are living properously and one can see the emergence of many Muslim personalities in each and every field, whether it is politics, cinema, sports, scientific field, or business ventures, one will find great names of the community making to the top to the envy of others so much so they have become iconic figures like Dr. Abul Kalam, Azim Premji, Mohammed Rafi, Dilip Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Sania Mirza, Pathan Brothers, Zaheer Khan and scores of others in other fields. Did Pakistan produce any such greats in their country despite in majority with all facilities at their command? We know pretty well that we were affected by the hate campaign of the safron brigades and we known we suffered loss of life and properties in the state sponsored pogrom led by the Hindutva leadership headed by infamous Modi, and we know we have a number of problems for which Govt has appointed the Sacchar Commission and its report with path breaking recommendations is pending with the Govt for implementation. But all these are our internal matter concerning the Muslim community and we have decent laws and liberty to fight for our cause through democratic means. To assist in our struggle for more rights and previleges, there are several NGOs in the country, who come forward to assist us as the community has not produced a leader worth look up for guidance.  Besides, we have a number Hindu leaders, who are our ardent supporters and fighters for our rights like Lalu Prasad Yadev, Mulayam Singh Yadev, Paswan, Mayawathiji in the North and YSR Reddy of Andhra Pradesh and Karunanidhi of Tamilnadu, who are our best friends. The media is very strong, vocal and articulate in India and majority of them are impartial in their reporting and coverage of the events concerning all more particularly Muslims. With so much support at home, why shall the community look for outside support? Besides, who authorised these extreme organisation to wage a proxy war against India, in the name of "Jihad" and to destroy the fair name of Islam before tarnishing the name of the community. Are they aware, how badly this community is affected after such actions?

Rightly said by Mr. Shahin that it is Pakistan who should be more worried for its problems than the Muslims of India. We all know that Pakistan was created on the false notion of two-nation theory which was burried deep in 1971 when Bengala Desh became independent. Pakistan claimed to be a unitary and Islamic state but de facto, a divided house into a number of regional identities so much so that in majority of the tribal areas, Pakistan writ does not operate at all but the tribal traditions. After from that, a  major internal conflict rages between the Sunni majority and Shia minority and incidentally the ruling class belongs to Shia community in Pakistan. Also its President Asif Ali Zardari, is a man Friday for the West more particularly US. This is no secret. These and more are the problems within Pakistan. Instead of setting its own house in order, it has ventured on to support others' cause and where is the sanity in it.

Pakistan better look for its own problems. There is a growing menace of terror outfits roaming in the streets of Pakistan nonchalantly, striking the targets at will with suicide bombers, derailing the economy and administration as well. Pakistani Govt has a job cut out for them after all these years of military rule. The democracy has just began to take roots when it is facing so many internal conflicts between various interest groups. It is in Pakistan's interest that sooner they flush out these outfits, better for them or else one day they will be reduced to stone age by super powers, if there were to be any further attack against them whose origin is from Pakistan. This is the impending danger for their survival. Mr. Zardari and Company must understand that mere denial through rhetorics would not cut ice with the world community and for the first time, US has come out in support of any action against Pakistan, keeping the option open for India. Pakistan has got two options to choose. Either it should itself destroy those militant structure that are producing merchants of death or allow others to destroy on their behalf. Pakistan is best advised to choose the first option as second option would be deleterious to its security and soveregnity. Choice is yours Mr.Zardari. Donot take it as a threat but an advice and a warning too as Indians say in one voice, "Enough is Enough". Its time to act before it is too late but do not regret later. Things have changed and the worst is yet to come to Pakistan. It cannot wash off its sins so easily that enough evidence has not been given for its complicity. Read the literature and speeches of the leaders of the outfit, Zardari would automatically get the evidence sought for from India.

Before commenting on the article, "Lies of Lashkar" by Yogiinder Sikand, I would like to single out one passage and comment that it was an utter lie. That passage is, “even claims that the Prophet Muhammad is said to have declared that Muslims who participate in a war with India would be saved from the fires of hell.” First and foremost thing that there is no evidence of such a  hadit (sayings of Prophet PBUH) from the established and recorded  Books on Hadits that Prophet PBUH had ever directed his followers to attack India during his life time. On the other hand, there is concrete evidence from a reliable source of Hadit (sayings of Prophet PBUH) that Prophet Mohammed PBUH had one day pointing his finger towards India, declared that he was getting a cool breeze from there. That means he felt so good about India and Indians living there. This was also echoed by Sir Mohammed Iqbal in one of the poems “Tarane Hind” that  “Whadat ki le suni thi, duniya ne jis makan se; Meere-Arab( meaning Prophet PBUH) ko aayi thandi hawa jahan se; Mera watan wahi hai, Mera watan wahi hai, meaning, the place from where the world that first heard the voice of Greatness of God; the place from where the Amire Arab (Prophet Mohammed PBUH) got the cool breeze; that is my country  (India) and that is my nation (India). It is therefore quite disgusting that  these original  sayings of Prophet PBUH had been neatly manipulated by the radicals to justify their nefarious designs to destroy the Indian polity, is evident from their false claim. It is for sure that for this manipulation of Prophet's sayings, these radicals would definitely be thrown into the burning inferno of the Hell.

We, the Muslims of India, totally agree with author that the intention of the terrorists and the terror organisations from wherever they are operating have one single and biggest aim to destabilize India and fuel communal passions. India is progressing and marching ahead to become a super power and this has not gone well with the jealous neighbours. It is definitely to a great credit of the resilient Muslim population wherever they are, refused to fall a prey to such a propaganda, barring a handful of radicals, by and large remained peaceful living in perfect harmony with people of different faith and followings. This is a great achievement for the Muslim population particularly in the wake of the mindless killing of innocent Muslims in the post Babri-masjid riots and Gujarat state sponsored pogrom that had shaken the conscience of the whole world. Here it would not be totally wrong to hold the Hindutva-led Safron brigade responsible for pushing the otherwise peaceful,  Muslim community to the wall which forced certain extreme elements among the radicals to resort to violence, though totally unjustifiable, in the name of safeguarding the interest of the Muslims of India, though majority of them did not approve of such violence in the first instance. Any grievance of the Muslims of India would be there to be solved by themselves in a democratic way and this does not in any way give a blanket authorisation for  the outside forces to interfere on their behalf more so in the name of Islam. The heinous and mindless killing of the innocent at Mumbai was such an act of insanity that it would have triggered a major conflict between the two nations and destablise the peace and security of the entire region.  The Lashker or Josh are such lunatic organizations, who have no value for humanity, a trait run exactly contrary to the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed PBUH, in whose name these disgruntled elements are spreading a hate campaign all over the world.  Jai Hind.

  2. It is good to look at the issue from all sides, please read the following and see if it makes sense:

Mumbai Terror Attack: Further Evidence of the Anglo-American-Mossad-RSS Nexus
By Amaresh Misra            Now who has the last laugh? That is the question; I only have pity for those who cannot see reality and who were so glib to buy into what the media and political troubleshooters were saying about the Mumbai Blasts.             Consider this:                    As a BBC report notes, at least some of the Mumbai attackers were not Indian and certainly not Muslim.Pappu Mishra, a cafe proprietor at the gothic Victorian Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, described "two sprightly young men dressed in black" with AK47s who were "foreign looking, fair skinned."Gaffar Abdul Amir, an Iraqi tourist from Baghdad, saw at least two men who started the firing outside the Leopold Cafe. "They did not look Indian, they looked foreign. One of them, I thought, had blonde hair. The other had a punkish hairstyle. They were neatly dressed," Amir told the BBC.                   According to Andrew G. Marshall, the ISI "has long been referred to as Pakistan's 'secret government' or 'shadow state.' It's long-standing ties and reliance upon American and British intelligence have not let up, therefore actions taken by the ISI should be viewed in the context of being a Central Asian outpost of Anglo-American covert intelligence operations."The presence of "foreign looking, fair skinned" commandos who calmly gunned down dozens of people after drinking a few beers indicates that the Mumbai attacks were likely the work of the Anglo-American covert intelligence operatives, not indigenous Indian Muslims or for that matter Arab al-Qaeda terrorists. The attacks prepare the ground for the break-up of Pakistan and the furtherance of destabilizing terrorism in the Middle East and Asia. The Mumbai attacks had little to do with India or the relationship between Muslim Pakistanis and Hindu Indians."Pakistan's position as a strategic focal point cannot be underestimated. It borders India, Afghanistan, China and Iran," concludes Marshall. "Destabilizing and ultimately breaking Pakistan up into several countries or regions will naturally spread chaos and destabilization into neighboring countries. This is also true of Iraq on the other side of Iran, as the Anglo-American have undertaken, primarily through Iraq, a strategy of balkanizing the entire Middle East in a new imperial project." (See Marshall'sDivide and Conquer: The Anglo-American Imperial Project.)                         Now I ask specifically: WHO HAS EGG ON THE FACE? MY DETRACTORS OR ME?               Andrew Marshall is a respected author; he is clearly saying here that terrorists looked like Anglo-American covert operatives and that the entire Mumbai operation was an attempt by Anglo-American forces to destabilize India and push it further into the Israel-US orbit. Marshall also says that Americans are keen to dismember Pakistan--it is clear that in this project, America needs India as a firm ally--it cannot afford Indo-Pak friendship at least on a long-term basis. The Mumbai attack thus was multi-layered--and one of the reasons could be to warn India that the Anglo-American elite has the power to penetrate India, with the help of its own people.Clearly, the attackers would not have come from the sea route without some kind of a connivance of Gujarat and Maharashtra Governments with the terrorists, and the connivance of RSS type Hindutva elements as I will prove later in the piece.              This afore-mentioned report appeared on the BBC, a news agency which pro-west, Muslim-haters and all NRIs love to see. NOW I ASK THESE PEOPLE: why are you adopting double standards? Now a BBC report is incovenient because it militates against your idea of what happened in Mumbai?             Even the Indian Government is aware of this reality. That is why it is not issuing statements in a hurry and that is why the kind of Islamo-phobia seen earlier after Bomb Blasts is not being seen now.               A second report is more shocking--some news channels captured it but then it went off air:                        One Police officer who encountered the gunmen as they entered the Jewish Center (Nariman House) said the attackers were white. "I went into the building late last night" he said. "I got a shock because they were white. I was expecting them to look like us. They fired three shots. I fired 10 back".               The Nariman House affair brings the Mossad angle to the fore. Two of the `hostages' killed in the Narimam House were identified as Rabbi Gabreil Holtzberg and his wife Rivka. They ran the center as spokespersons of the Chabad Lubavitch movement.              Now the Chabad movement is one of the many sects within Israel and Judaism. But of late it has come under the Zionist influence. Now what is Zionism? A brief digression would suffice: Zionism is the political ideology of racist Jews, just like Hindutva is the political ideology of a section of `race conscious' Hindus. Just as a majority of Sanatani Hindus have opposed Hindutva, a majority of Jews oppose Zionism and its fascist-anti-religious tone.           In opposition to the teachings of Judaism, the orthodox Jew religion, Zionists want to dominate the world; they see the `Jewish race' as the most important, almost divine, race in the world. Zionists are opposed to democracy and even the concept of naitonhood. Zionists believe in creating murder and mayhem as a matter of policy.            In America, Zionists have entered into an alliance with the American elites--the White-Anglo-Saxon Protestant (WASP) forces--which rule America.  The reasons for this alliance lie in the way the Zionist agenda matches with that of the American corporate and WASP elite and is beyind the scope of this article.                          People who do not understand Zionism will never be able to understand what happened in Mumbai.              Back to members of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement killed at Nariman House--people have asked how come the Rabbi and his wife were killed if Mossad is involved in the Mumbai terror attack?               The answer to this is being forwarded by Jewish anti-Zionist websites. They also detail the sectarian history of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement:                         The attack on Mumbai spotlights the ultra-orthodox (haredi) Chabad-Lubavitch community and its international outreach network. When Chabad outreach (keruv) started in the 1950s, it seemed rather intellectually dishonest because the organization used nostalgia for a never-existent Jewish past as a hook to enmesh secular or secularized Jews in ultra-orthodox (haredi) practice as hozrim bitshuvah (returnees, sometimes improperly called baalei tshuvah), but on the whole the activity was mostly harmless in contrast with current Chabad activities, which long ago crossed the border into dangerous territory. As the Lubavitcher organization has become larger and wealthier -- partially because mobilization for keruv has brought large contributions, members have shown a propensity for corruption.Yet, the Lubavitchers have worked closely with Jewish racists like Lawrence Summers and Alan Dershowitz in the ongoing attempt to control discourse on American campuses. The wealthy Russian Lubavitcher hozer bitshuvah Lev Leviev openly supports Zionist terrorism and settlement building in the Palestinan occupied territories. Possibly because of Leviev Chabad-Lubavitch has openly become involved in Putin's struggles with Russian Jewish oligarchs.Still, there is an even more sinister aspect to the Lubavitcher organization. Because Lubavitcher outreach offices are located in some of the most important political, corporate and university centers throughout the world, the Lubavitchers have put together a network that is incomparable for corporate and international espionage as well as for the secret exchange of information. Because Chabad Houses could potentially act as safe houses, where there would be no record of a person's stay. Most people do not take the Lubavitchers seriously, but I have visited Chabad houses and encountered senior Israeli government or military officials (and probably intelligence agents). One can easily imagine that Neocon intelligentsia trying to develop a relationship with Hindutva (?????????) intelligentsia or politicians might have used the Chabad Nariman House as a meeting place.                    Here a Jew is saying that he has visited Chabad houses and that he has seen covert operations going on and the involvement of senior Government and military officials of Israel. This Jew writer is also talking openly about a Neo-Con-Chabad-Hindutva tie-up!                 The Jew writer mentions the Mossad involvement in Chabad Houses:                    Because the Lubavitchers provide an unconditional welcome to all Jews in the hope of bringing them closer to the Lubavitcher way of life, the Lubavitchers have been open to potential subversion by Israeli intelligence organizations. Mossad and Shin Bet found it quite easy to penetrate the haredi community during the Yossele Affair.Jewish politics has often involved infiltration and subversion of one political group by another. The David Project Israel Advocacy organization has used its educational programs as a means to infiltrate more mainstream Jewish communal organizations with radical Islamophobes and Jabotinskian Zionists. To Zionize haredi groups that practice outreach, the Israeli government need only give encouragement  to Zionistically indoctrinated Hebrew-speaking young people to participate in outreach programs, and in a few years the targeted haredi community is thoroughly enmeshed in Zionist thinking while Israeli intelligence organizations have a new crop of saya`nim in place ready to serve in Zionist covert operations.                             What is a sayanim? Go to the link and it states that  "Sayanim (Hebrew: "helpers") is a term used to describe Jews living outside Israel who volunteer to provide assistance to the Mossad.[1] This assistance includes facilitating medical care, money, logistics, and even overt intelligence gathering, yet sayanim are only paid for their expenses. No official number is known, but estimates put the number of sayanim in the thousands. The existence of this large body of volunteers is one reason why the Mossad operates with fewer case officers than fellow intelligence agencies"                 Now back to the link from which I was quoting the Jewish writer originally. He saysthat the Lubavitcher shluchim (outreach emissaries) Gavriel Noach and Rivka Holtzberg fit the `sayanim' profile to a "T" -- especially Rivkah.                 So the two people killed in Nariman House fit the Sayanim, that is Jews outside Israel who volunteer to provide assistance to Mossad, profile!                          NOW WHAT OTHER PROOF DO YOU WANT? The Jewish writer of the afore-mentioned link himself asks the question: WOULD MOSSAD HAVE KILLED THE RABBI AND HIS WIFE IN NARIMAN HOUSE?            AND HE PROVIDES THE ANSWER:                 Zionists have always used dead Jews to build sympathy for Zionist goals and as cover for Zionist crimes against humanity.                Ben-Gurion explicitly stated that he would sacrifice German Jewish children for the sake of Zionism while the Zionist leadership probably learned the benefit of sacrificing Zionist operatives from the 1946 Kielce Pogrom. In this incident (Jewish) Soviet and Zionist agents probably worked together to make sure that surviving Polish Jews chose emigration to Palestine over a return to Poland.                    Because the Kielce Zionist recruiters were killed during the pogrom, the events  leading up to the pogrom was rendered forever unobtainable.                   Some reports of the Mumbai attack indicate that the Holtzbergs rented space to the attack planners over the past few months and thereby helped make the operation far more effective. An opportunity to interrogate the Holtzbergs would have helped investigators immensely.                   AGAIN WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?            Another piece of massive evidence:  In a telephone interview with CBC News from outside the Center (Nariman House), freelance journalists Arun Asthana said that there are reports that some of the militants had stayed at a guest house there (Nariman House) for upto 15 days before the attack. "They had a huge mass of ammunition, arms and food there", Asthana said.                Now other reports have also confirmed that a huge mass of food was ordered by the residents of the Nariman House. This food was enough for 30-40 people for several days. Why was this amount of food ordered? Also why was Nariman House not assaulted till the very last? A Gujarati Hindu resident of Mumbai came onto TV on CNN-IBN to say at around 3.30 AM or so, that for two months suspicious activities wree going in Nariman House. A lot of foreigners were seen coming in and going out. This matter was reported to the Police. But no one took action.             The CNN-IBN did not repeat the news; then it was only when the common people of Mumbai threatened to storm the Nariman House the NSG commandos were moved in--why this delay in assaulting Nariman House when only two terrorists were holed in there?                 This is sheer official complicity and nothing else--AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE WHOLE NARIMAN HOUSE AFFAIR IS A MUST.                             Then it was reported that " somehow surprising to learn that the terrorists in Cama hospital in Mumbai were fluently speaking Marathi. The terrorists who are said to have fired in Cama hospital talked to an employee clad in civil dress in Marathi, reports a Marathi daily 'Maharashtra Times'. The newspaper said the terrorists who targeted ATS chief Hemant Karkare, police commissioner Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar were speaking Marathi fluently. The newspaper claims the terrorists having fired at two watchmen in uniform asked the other beside them on gunpoint in Marathi, 'You are here an employee?' The employee caught the legs of the terrorist and said, 'I am not working here. My wife has suffered from heart attack and I have come here to admit her.' The terrorist asked him again in Marathi,'You are speaking true or false?' The employee answered, 'No, by God I am speaking true.'On this the terrorist let him go.     NOW WHAT DO WE MAKE OF THAT? Another report says that traditional Jews of Mumbai who have migrated to Israel speak fluent Marathi and are known to have been recruited by Mossad!        The death of Hemant Karkare remains a mystery. All official versions are contradictory: some say he was killed near CST, some that he died near Cama hospital, some near  Metro cinema, and some that he was killed while in a Police jeep. Also, where did the bullet hit him? Some say on the neck and some near the heart. Karkare was shown on TV wearing a bullet proof vest--he could not have been shot in neck in that case, unless there was a sniper waiting for him.         Also if he was shot near heart, then when did he take out his vest? No one has even bothered to answer this question. Also, another facet is coming to light: that Karkare was killed near Cama--but Kaamte and Salaskar in the Metro shootout!         Intelligent people--what do you have to say now? It is becoming obvious that...  1. Several terrorists might have been white2. Were they International mercanaries? If yes, then from which country? Who collected them? It is well known that Mossad and CIA have several mercenary organizations, including so-called Jihadi ones on their list. They create Jihad and manipulate Muslims disaffected by the Islamophobia in the world. Some of them might have been used in the Mumbai attack. But why were they carrying American, British, Mauritian and Malaysian passports?  3. Who were the Marathi speaking Karkare killers? The lane next to the Cama Hospital is a deserted one--it goes straight to the backyard of the Mumbai CID Headquarters. Anonymous sources in the Police have revealed that Karkare was taken there, by a joint team of  anti-Karkare, pro-Hindutva  Mumbai Police officers, and Chota Rajan men. Now Karkare was opposed to Chota Rajan. Salaskar was anti-Pradeep Sharma, another Mumbai senior Police officer now in jail, for working as Rajan's shooter. So the Marathi speaking terrorists could either have been Jews with some connection to Mumbai--or hired killers of the Hindutva brigade or men of Chota Rajan. 4. It seems that several things went on simultaneously--the Mahrashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh was in Kerala when the Mumbai attack began at 9.30 PM on 26th November. Then by 11PM Deshmukh had informed the Home Minister Shivraj Patil--the latter has started proceedings to send the NSG Commandos. So Deshmukh knew about what was happening by 11PM--then why was there no Mumbai Police on various locations between 9.30 and 1am, the time when Karkare arrived? The Mumbai ATS is a separate organization. it does not lead the Mumbai Police. So the 40,000 strong Mumbai Police was absent from the scene of action between 11pm to 1am and then Karkare arrived and he was killed along with his men!Isn't there something fishy here? Obviously the Mumbai Police was kept deliberately away between 11pm and 1am, the time period when terrorists were killing people merrily. Then Karkare must have been told--and he went there expecting Mumbai police personals to be there--but there were none or only a few! And he was killed!

    And the same American Establishment:

Pakistan's Chief Spy Appointed by the CIA

Historically, the CIA has played an unofficial role in the appointment of the director of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

In September, Washington pressured Islamabad, using the "war on terrorism" as a pretext to fire the ISI chief Lieutenant General Nadeem Taj.

"Washington is understood to be exerting intense pressure on Pakistan to remove ISI boss Nadeem Taj and two of his deputies because of the key agency's alleged "double-dealing" with the militants.( Daily Times, September 30, 2008

President Asif Ali Zardari had meetings in New York in late September with CIA Director Michael Hayden. (The Australian, September 29, 2008), Barely a few days later, a new US approved ISI chief Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha was appointed by the Chief of the Army, General Kayani, on behalf of Washington.

    Lt. General Ahmed Shuja Pasha

In this regard, the pressures exerted by the Bush administration contributed to blocking a parliamentary initiative led by the PPP government to put the country's intelligence services (ISI) under civilian authority, namely under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior.

In other words, Washington exerts more control over the ISI than the duly elected civilian government of Pakistan.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha (right) next to Gen. Ashfaq Kayani on the USS Abraham Lincoln talking with Michael Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The U.S. Violates Pakistan's Territorial Sovereignty

The US is currently violating Pakistan territorial sovereignty through the routine bombing of villages in the tribal areas and the North West Frontier Province. These operations are carried out using the "war on terrorism" as a pretext. While the Pakistani government has "officially" accused the US of waging aerial bombardments on its territory, Pakistan's military (including the ISI) has "unofficially" endorsed the air strikes.

In this regard, the timely appointment of Lt. General Ahmed Shuja Pasha to the helm of the ISI was intended to ensure continuity in US "counter-terrorism" operations in Pakistan. Prior to his appointment as ISI chief, Lt. General Ahmed Shuja Pasha was responsible, in close consultation with the US and NATO, for carrying out targeted attacks allegedly against the Taliban and Al Qaeda by the Pakistani military in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP).

    Dear Sultan Shahin Sahab ,

The shock of Mumbai carnage is too big for India and world in general.

With the new insights available in to the incidence, and as the dust settles down face of Pakistan as a nation which harbours Islamic hardliners emerges out directly or indirectly seems to be involved . I can see various news channels showing common Indian bursting with anger towards Pakistan over the links of terrorists turning Mumbai in to the battlefield. The reaction is quite justifiable too as the whole thing is utterly outrageous.

Two days back one of the renowned historians and academicians of India Prof. Om-Prakash, the serving Vice- Chancellor of M.J.P. Rohilkhand university was visiting me to show one of his relative’s cardiac ailment.

the chat turned towards the current Mumbai terrorist attack and how to tackle the menace? Prof. Om-Prakash is truly a gifted analyst and profound thinker, he is in fact the person who is on record of defining the role of Aligarh ( A.M.U) while giving his presidential address in capacity of chief-guest on the occassion of Sir-Syed day some years back, ( His speech is posted on internet under the YOU TUBE  videos in four parts). Four days back TIME carried the similar analysis in this article titled " INDIA'S MUSLIMS IN CRISIS"

in Prof. OmPrakash when it comes to analysis and critical thought process)

In response to my casual question "Sir ! How you view the whole thing? And what you think should be the best approach to tackle the issue?" The vice-chancellor, Prof. Om-Prakash came up with a very interesting and kind of un-usual analysis of the whole situation.

He thinks that Pakistan should be dealt with care and patience lest it should follow the footsteps of the Germany and the world is pushed in to the spirals of instability and inevitable THIRD WORLD WAR.!

    In his words..

“After the 1st world war Germany was not tried fairly by the world powers and Germans were labelled as the wrongdoers, they were given a step motherly treatment , the result was rise of Hitler and ensuing SECOND WORLD WAR.

The Pakistan in my opinion is at a very crucial juncture, where democracy has failed to thrive, where economy is in shambles, the mistrust is rife not only in the inter-national fraternity but also amongst Pakistani nationals as well, religious fanaticism, economic and political instability coupled with inter-national hatred and step-motherly treatment will surely result in a more unstable but nuclear capable Pakistan capable of triggering THIRD WORLDWAR."

I'm sending you this input , if you find this useful, kindly share Prof. om-Prakash's viewpoint amongst the readers of  NEW AGE ISLAM.

If the radical Islamists resorted to brutal attacks on Mumbai to carry out their holy jihad or for the geopolitical reason of their state, the Hindu extremists in India provided them some justification to do so. Even as we question the legitimacy of outsiders to avenge the real or imagined atrocities on Muslims in India, we must also challenge people like Modi and Togadia for inciting communal passions across the religious and national divides. Their hate politics has imperilled the security of the country in a substantial way:

Terrorists were shown footage of Modi, Togadia

4 Dec 2008, 0422 hrs IST, Rahul Tripathi, TNN

NEW DELHI: Terrorists who carried out the Mumbai attacks were shown video footage of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and VHP's Praveen Togadia "spitting venom" against jihad and Pakistan as motivational tools, arrested terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasav has told his interrogators.

Ajmal's interrogation report says the terrorists were also shown footage of the "Gujarat carnage and atrocities on Muslims" in India to rouse religious indignation.

Ajmal's interrogators said he had received rigorous training and had been primed for fidayeen attacks. He and others in the training camps were subjected to severe beatings by their trainers to develop resistance against any kind of interrogation.

Ajmal also revealed the names of nine other terrorists who carried out the Mumbai attacks and were killed in various places. "The nine names revealed by Ajmal reflects that the youngest fidayeen was 20 years old while the eldest was 28.

They were identified by Ajmal as Soheb (20), Chota Abdul Rahman (21), Umar (22), Abu Ali (23), Fahadullah (24), Ismail Khan (25), Bada Abdul Rahman (25), Abu Akasha (26), Umair (28). Fahadullah was crippled in one hand," a cop who interrogated Ajmal said.

The terror group which attacked Mumbai was imparted training at various camps and in different groups. Before assembling near Karachi, the 10 terrorists had never met each other, Ajmal claimed. They met for the first time in September.

Ajmal said Lashkar's Zakiur Rahman alias Chachu was their mentor but several others were involved in imparting training at various stages. He named some of them as Mufti Sayeed, Fahadullah, Ustad Abdul Rahman and Abu Anus who gave them maritime training and taught use of weapons and grenades. Investigators said that of those named by Ajmal as tutors, many had retired from Pakistan Army and were imparting training at Lashkar camps in coordination with ISI.

The terrorists had to undergo a long and rigorous training schedule before heading for Mumbai. Ajmal said their first training session had started in December last year. He told interrogation that their training was intensified after the assassination of PPP leader Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi on December 27.
