The
National Commission for Women (NCW) has written to Delhi Police seeking action
following widespread social media outrage over a user's alleged 'lewd' comments
about Kirti Chakra Awardee Captain Anshuman Singh’s widow, Smriti.
The NCW
took note of the objectionable comments by K. Ahmad on Wednesday and urged the
Delhi Police to take immediate action. The NCW said that the comment violates
Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
This is sad
as well as unfortunate. Such comments coming from anyone need to be condemned
and that's it. It doesn't deserve to be a newsworthy incident. But the person
having a 'Muslim' name (!) K Ahmad commenting salaciously on a Hindu Fauji's
wife has turned this trivial matter into a communal issue.
I'm sure,
if a man with a 'Hindu' name would have made these lewd comments, he'd have
been abused on social media and people would have quickly forgotten the whole
episode. Since the name K Ahmad suggests that the person happens to be a
Muslim, it has become national news.
Moreover,
Smriti Singh is a slain Hindu Army Officer's wife. So, the lewd comments from a
'Muslim' man are being viewed as anti-national and anti-India! This is
ridiculous. I've read the comments. They're indeed scabrous, to the point of
being scatological.
In this era
of social media, you encounter lakhs of priapic K Ahmads who salivate and post
crude comments whenever they see a woman. It's their way of releasing sexual
tension however obscene it may be to others. They're sex-starved. The most
prudent thing is to avoid such unstable characters. But our over-patriotic
media and workless (also worthless) people have nothing worthwhile to do. They
make a mountain out of a molehill.
Furthermore,
this K Ahmad could be a Hindu operating under a pseudonym just to malign the
Muslim community. Anything is possible in these polarised times. Our collective
prudence seems to have gone for a toss.
