Role of Women and Young People in Dawah Work

Q: What points should we keep in mind while engaging in dawah work?

A: There’s one thing that you need for dawah, and that is love. Love, love, and love. Well-wishing, well-wishing, and well-wishing. If you have well-wishing for your madu, for the person you are inviting to God, it will itself tell you what you need to do.

A mother instinctively knows how to look after her infant. She does not need to ask anyone else how to do this. If anyone tries to advise her, she’ll get angry. She’ll say, “You’re trying to teach me how to raise my child? I know how to do it myself!”

In the same way, if you have abundant love and well-wishing for your madu, you will instinctively know how to relate with him. Even if he oppresses you, even if he conspires against you, you must unilaterally love him. You must unilaterally have well-wishing for him—unlimited well-wishing. You must love him and wish well for him even if he does not do the same for you. You must not complain against him. You must have no negative thoughts about him. Leave whatever he might do to you to God.

So, if you have love in your heart for your madu, only love, you will know what you have to do. There will be no need for anyone to tell you what to do.

Q: What can be the role of women in dawah work?

A: A woman’s role in dawah work is the highest. “Ladies first”, they say, for instance, when lining up in a queue. In dawah work, too, women have the number one role to play.

Today, women are given greater priority. Men fail where women march ahead. You can see this everywhere—in seminars, in universities, in schools. Everywhere women are sailing ahead. Today, women are doing many of the things that men do. They should come forward in dawah work, too. They should play a central role in dawah work.

Q: And what about the role of young people in dawah work?

A: Young people have a lot of energy. They have courage and enthusiasm to work. The history of prophets shows that youths supported them in their dawah mission.

The youth should be involved in dawah work. This, and not wasting their lives in entertainment and obsession with making money, is the greatest work for them to do.

The real task for all of us, young and old, women and men, is to convey God’s message across the world.
