Islam and Politics (03 Aug 2019 NewAgeIslam.Com)

  • Some Barelvis including Sufis - Tauqeer Raza Khan and Ashraf Kichachavi are supporting Triple Talaq but other Muslims are calling them "Modi Nawaz".
Social Media such as facebook and whatsapp are full of words of condemnation.

  • Clarification:
Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan saheb welcomed the Triple Talaq Bill as consistent and compatible with the Islamic Sha’riah. He only said this:
“The bill having been passed in the Rajya Sabha is actually the win of the Islamic Shari’ah as the instant divorce was against the will of Allah and His Prophet (pbuh) and whatever displeases the Prophet (pbuh) cannot be acceptable to Muslims at all”, he said. Maulana Tauqeer Raza further states that “those who did not adhere to the Ulema in this matter, will have to follow the Islamic rulings now under the pressure from the government”.
Rest of the part below is comment of this correspondent and cannot be attributed to him.

  • New Age Islam Correspondent must clarify it. From where he said that Maulana Tauqeer Raza said so and so?
    By Talha - 8/7/2019 5:50:02 AM

  • Arshad sb, perhaps there is mistake in translation.
Urdu news does not say anything as such. You can read Urdu and if you do not know you can trust me.

    By Talha - 8/7/2019 5:47:52 AM

  • Talha read this once again:
"Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan Barailwi has supported the law on Triple Talaq criminalising instant divorce as Shariah-compliant as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) had also done this in its Book of Law as per articles in its mouthpiece magazines like Dabiq and Rumayyia...."

The pragaraph says that Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan supported the law which was also supported by the ISIS their mouthpiece. The news is written in the way which creates the impression that Maulana supports what the ISIS supports thouth in fact there is no link between what Maulana says and what the ISIS says on the issue. But the news unncessarily linked the two showing that both were on the same page. Had I written the news I had not mentioned what ISIS writes or says in their magazine because I consider them terrorists and unworthy to be quoted on issues on Quran and hadith. You should have blamed the edit desk of NAI and not me as I formed my opinion as a reader of NAI. There might have been others who also might have formed the same opinion as mine.

  • Arshad sb,
When Did Tauqeer Raza say “the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) had also done this in its Book of Law”?
Is this your approach to accept everything blindly and reject everything blindly? This does not behove a man known as a ‘scholar’.
In Urdu news he simply praised Talaq Bill and that TTP will help reduce the practice of triple talaq. There is no such words on his part as you uttered as a sign of hatred.

  • Barelwi Maulana bhi IS ke fan nikley.  Billi thailey se baahar  aagayibahut gahra motala kartey hain IS ke literature ka.aha
    By Arshad - 8/5/2019 8:14:51 PM

  • What a scholarly argument by Barelwi scholar. He cited the law of the terrorist organisation ISiS and he needs is an avid reader of it's magazines. He is influenced by ISIS.

  • Banning of Triple Talaq is good.
    Criminalizing it is also good.
What is however needed is to legislate that the only evidence acceptable that Triple Talaq has been given is voluntary admission by the husband that he has done so. Else, the law can be misused to blackmail/harass the husband by bringing false charges against him or by threatening to do so.
Even better than criminalizing TT, would have been criminalizing  abandonment of wife. This law would have benefited women of all faiths. If this was done, criminalizing TT would have been unnecessary since TT is already rendered null and void by the SC and following it if the husband abandons his wife, then that could be taken as a criminal offence.

  • If Muslims reformed their own Sharia, there would be no need for forced changes. Countries living under antiquated Sharia laws are the real Darul Harb, not India.
